The old groundkeeper's hut was open, welcoming the warm spring day. Becca was behind her desk grading papers, her usual reading material pushed off to the corner. To the left of her stood a tall covered cage from which soft hooting sounds could be occasionally heard. Becca found the sounds soothing and hoped the beast wouldn't get too upset with the class and disappear on her today.

Scott walked down to where the Care of Magical Creatures class was held, not really in a great mood. he had no reason not to be in a good mood, he just wasn't. Shuffling into the classroom, he found a seat at the back and plopped down in it. he heard a hooting sound and immediately looked up and around the room. There was a covered cage and Scott figured that must have been where the noise was coming from. After he realized where the noise was coming from he laid his head down on his arms and sat there, waiting for the class to start.

Rael entered the classroom and walked quickly to her seat. She pulled the parchment out of her bag and dug through it for a quill, thankfully she found one. As soon as she found all of her things she dropped her bag on the floor and stretched her arms up in the air, she was tired. However, other than being tired, she was set to go. After unrolling her parchment, she opened her ink bottle and prepped her quill. Only then did she notice the covered cage that sat beside the professor.

There was absolutely nothing special going on with Kellen as he walked into the Magizoology class for that day. He felt about as normal as could be felt, he wasn't tired, and physically, he was fine. It was just the way to start class--nothing getting in the way of his taking notes or learning.

Daniel was not in a good mood most obviously. Not only had he been avoiding Sonja all week, hiding in the hallways, retreating behind statues, anything to avoid her. Not only that, but he seemed to get off the wrong side of the bed. He had fallen out of bed, lost his bag, his cat was nowhere to be found, not to mention the relationship problems that seemed to affect everyone in sixth year. Ya. He wasn't in a pleasant mood.
Therefore, Daniel didn't take the precaution of walking in a slow manner to quieten down his large feet. Stomping unintentionally into the classroom, the adolescent searched everyone before retreating into a seat towards the back of the classroom. Good. No Sonja or Beni for now.

Although the perspective of having COMC wasn't something that would particularly cheer Penelope up she wasn't either in a sulky mood thinking of excuses to skip. No, the day was warm and nice and she had always loved Hogwarts at this time of the year. It always meant the same thing for her, the lake water was warm enough to swim in it and not end up being a human popsicle five seconds after diving in.
Just smiling to herself she walked along the grounds of the school in direction of her next class. Hopefully it would only require taking notes and making sketches and no kind of particular practical work.
Shortly after a fellow Slytherin entered the room Penelope leaned slightly forward and peeked in to see who was already there. She tried not to frown when she saw Kellen. Well, it had to happen sooner or later, right? Deciding to act as she had never gone away she went in and found herself a seat somewhere in the middle, for now pretty much away from everyone.

Kellen was going through his bag looking for a quill when it somehow managed to flip over and spill its contents. Damn, he thought, annoyed as he bent over to pick everything up. Well, it was all out of order now, but there was no point in rearranging everything while sitting there on the floor of the classroom. He sighed and stuffed everything back in the bag and stood up, glancing around the room.
A few more people had walked in since he'd gotten there, including a new Slytherin girl he didn't recognize--or did he? No, it was just a girl who looked like her, he was sure. But wow, did this girl look like Penelope. "Oh no way..." he muttered under his breath.
He wanted to be sure, so he held back for a moment so he wouldn't go over to her and embarrass himself. She really did look very much like his ex-girlfriend.

Penelope was just sitting there, minding her own business, trying not to look around the place cause she knew she would end up staring at Kellen. The only problem was that, while observing her nails, she couldn't shake off the feeling that someone was looking at her. Not being able to resist it she raised her head and looked around. Unavoidably she ended up looking straight at Kellen.
"Hola," she mouthed in his direction and smiled slightly.
Could this be any more awkward?

It was her. "Wow," he said under his breath. For some reason, he'd just assumed that he'd probably never see her again, at least not while they were at school. He wasn't sure what to do, at first.
Just go talk to her, he decided. Would it be awkward? Sure, of course it would. But it would be a lot worse to sit there and not talk. "Hey," he said quietly as he got up and left his things to walk over to her. "Long time no see," he added lamely.

"Two years, right?" Penelope replied trying to keep the smile on her face there.
It was strange to talk with Kellen and feel uncomfortable about it. Penelope couldn't remember a single time where it had been like this. Then you added her disappearing into the equation and it began to make sense.
"You look good," she added forcing herself to break the silence, to not allow the silence to settle in. That would only make this even more awkward than it already was.

"So do you," Kellen added, honestly believing it. He shifted uncomfortably for a minute, trying to think of something else to say. "So, how have you been? How's home?" he finally asked. This really was strange. He felt like he should be upset with her or something, but he wasn't. He just didn't know what to say.

"Everything's fine... luckily. I wouldn't be here if it weren't," she replied truthfully.
She smiled at him for a couple of seconds. Penelope had never been good at handling a tense atmosphere and was struggling to act as natural as possible.
"What ab-...," but she cut herself off as she was about to say something else. "Does this feel awkward to you too?" she blurted out with total honesty and feeling somehow better only for voicing that thought.

It was a gorgeous day and Allegra's mood reflected it. While she would have prefered to have an outdoor lesson on such a sunny morning, it was refreshing enough to have the classroom opened up to the day this time. She hummed a little to herself as she skipped up the steps and through the door, taking a quick look around to see who else had arrived.
Penelope? She stopped dead in her tracks and her smile faltered just a bit as she saw the Slytherin girl. Allegra had considered her among her friends before she left, but now, things were different... or, were they?
She rejuvinated her smile and went over, taking her usual seat nearby. They had been talking, but now seemed as good a time as any to say hello. "Penelope! You're back!" she greeted the girl as if this were the best news Allegra had heard all year.

Before Kellen could agree with Penelope's last statement--and agree he did, this was awkward--Allegra came into the classroom and came over to the two. Because, really, he wasn't feeling awkward already. "Yup! It really is her, too, I checked," he joked, trying to keep a light tone.

Allegra flat out refused to look at him, keeping her eyes on Penelope instead. "We missed you," she said earnestly as she wondered when the heck Davenport would start the class. The sooner it got underway, the sooner it would be over and the sooner she could get out of there.
