It was a lesson better suited for the outside, especially with a class this large, so that was where it would be held. Two long tables were set up in the penned yard, ready for the students and the gate left open, welcoming the student to enter the corral. At each work station there were small bowls set up, the insides of each squirming with wood lice. A rather disgusting sight for a human, but a tasty one for today's lesson.
Becca puttered around the corral, double checking the details and keeping a careful eye on the crates she had lined up against the fence.

One of Tristan's favorite class but not the best. After walking out of the castle, he wondered if it was going to be hot. Which was a dumb question, because it was or unless he just got hot nature really quick. Walking and walking got Tristan really tired but he was still one hundred percent awake for this class, ecspecially for Professor Ashford's class.
Once he was there, he noticed tables and bowls, right then made Tristan groan. He hoped they go in for awhile but it looked like it was going to have to be outside. He wondered what he would learn today. Probably the froggy again or some big mutant monster. Whatever it was, it wasn't going to be fun for Tristan to be outside.
Walking through the gate opening, he just stood there until the professor told him to sit or if another student would sit first. Bad enough he was the first student.

Cameron yawned as she walked down to the castle. Care of Magical Creatures was sort of her favorite class. Besides the fact over the past few years, she did get burned, bitten, an scratched. But it isn't a fun class if you don't get bitten or something atleast once a year. She liked this class because she got to see all kinds of amazing things. She made her way down. There were tables and things there. She walked over to Tristan."Hey Tristan."Cameron said. Her eyes lit up. "Bowtruckles! Wicked!" She grinned.
Her dad found a bowtruckle when she was little. Cam was playing, and she heard her dad yell. The Bowtruckle bit him, so she ran in and grabbed her mom.

Drew dropped his backpack outside the fence and crawled through the ties before making his way to the others. "LUNCHTIME!" he called out with a wide grin as he caught sight of the bowls of crawly things.

Nic walked up to the small group and peered at what Drew was talking about. Nic frowned and grabbed his stomache. He didn't even eat chitlins there was no way he was going to eat this. Nic turned away from the bowl and leaned against the table.

"Who brought the mustard?" Charlie said as she rubbed her hands together and peered over the bowls. "Seriously, dude. You made me hungry now." Despite the fact that it was a purely sarcastic remark, it didn't drip with the obvious sarcasm as usual.

"I've left the condiments in the classroom if you two are so inclined," Becca called out to the Drew and Charlie. "I just ask that the Bowtruckles feed first. They tend to poke people's eyes out when they get cranky."

"Ah, well if it's all the way in the classroom!" Drew stated with an eyeroll, making it clear it wasn't worth his time to go that far for a little mustard. "Maybe on the way out of class I'll pick it up."

"I think I've just gotten my apetite back." Alhana said, pushing her lips together and raising her eyebrows curiously at the critter crates and waggled her fingers at them. "Crunchy. Yum." she changed her expression to a big, fake grin and licked her lips.

Layla had sat down and scooted her seat as far back from the bench as she could get away with. She wasn't particularly grossed out, she just didn't really appreciate the image of a bowl full of wood lice squriming around and climbing each other to find its way out. She took a inhaled slowly and looked forward at the professor, ignoring the insects and her classmate's comments.
She was definitely not hungry.

Jason sat down in a seat and looked at the wood lice. There was no way that you could get him to eat this stuff even if you paid him. So he was losing his appitite as all the little wood lice squrimed around in the bowl. As long as I myself don't have to eat them, I'll be alright. he thought. But know, it just made him wonder about what type of creature they would be talking about today.

"Like I said, we're saving the wood lice for the Bowtruckles, our topic for today," Becca told them, hoping to get the class back on track. "So before we actually bring out the creatures, what do we already know about them?"

"Um, I know this one. I actually read the book on this. They're like some kind of tree animals wid two fingers on each hand that are leathal man deadly leathal, and they actually look like plants. Now Teach this is what I don't get. They're like the guardians of trees. So they stop tractors and big companies from cutting them down? Oh and they use those ugly fingers for eating like an anteater and for attackin. Yeeeeeah!" Nic felt smart. He actually retained some knowledge let's just hope it was the right animal he was thinking of.

"Yeah, they're tree-guardians," Drew piped up, poking at the lice with a stick he had found. He wasn't sure what Davenport would say about this, as crazy as she was for even the dumbest of creatures, but he figured it would be okay since they were probably going to feed the bugs to the Bowtruckles anyway. "They look like part of the tree and will attack people who try to mess with their home."

"And don't they like to eat fairy eggs or something like that?" Jade piped up, a little surprised at herself. She didn't usually participate in classes, and even though this was her favorite class, she had just sat and listened all last year. "Their fingers and teeth are really, really sharp, too." She added.
