Michelle chewed over the Professor's response carefully. She herself was interested in someday becoming an Auror like her parents. But how plants could help you in that feild? The hanging question left her intrigued and ready to learn.
Maybe this class won't be so bad after all...
Leaning down she reached into her pack and pulled out a peice of parchment and her quill. She wanted to remember what he had said.
Herbology--used in many magical and muggle fields. Law Enforcement
This class, like many others is to give you a general idea of what you can do with your life, the knowledge you learn within these boundaries is at your virtual endless disposal

Kyle listened to the answers, before speaking up. "A lot of hands-on work without really using magic, and one of the more dangerous subjects," he said. It was half the truth. His real opinion about Herbology was way too many dirty work on your hands and knees and probably the subject which could get you killed without knowing.

Artemis Tayern walked into the class late with a grin on his face. He had been sent to the wrong area of the castle not knowing that the greenhouses were on the grounds, he was told they were on the castle roof. He had a plan to get his revenge. the man sitting on the desk looked serious, but artemis loved it when this happened, hee could get under this man's skin easy. Artemis purposefully looked at the professort and said quite clearly and purposely, " Good Day."

Before the professor had begun to speak Sarsha had carefully walked into the greenhouse trying her hardest to stay clean. She wasn't to keen on dirt or gardening. The listened to what he said and using the muggle term of botany helped her understand almost right away what the subject was about.
He has asked a question about when she saw it what she thought about it and that was something she could actually answer. "Truefully" she stated looking up at the professor from her seat somewhere in the middle of the room. "When I first saw it on my time table I didn't understand, but after an older student mentioned it was about plants and stuff my first immediate reaction was that was I wouldn't like this subject" Sarsha spoke in her posh english accent with the air of confidence her parents had always told her to withhold. Least she was telling the truth.
"And, well, after walking into this filthy classroom I really don't think I want anything to do with gardening, I mean everythings so... dirty" Sarsha was used to having an absoluely spotless clean house which was cleaned by her family's maids and all the gardening of the manor was done by the 4 gardeners her father had hired to keep the place looking neat and tidy. She wasn't used to any kind of garden shed, especially not a green house filled with plants and dirt.

"Mr. Hersten you response is one most correct, alot of the year will be hands-on work, and should you not listen to what I tell you, it could indeed be one of the more dangerous subjects in your later years, a fine answer indeed." Robert returned, nodding lightly for emphasis asone of the lot decided to show up late.
"Mr. Tayern. How pleasant of you to join us, you're late. Have you no excuse?" He questioned, not ignoring the Hufflepuff girl's comment, he would get to that as soon as he heard what the boy had to say to explain himself. You couldn't exactly get greenhouse confused wiht classroom, provided, unless you didn't know what a greenhouse looked like. But how hard was it to figure out honestly?

Michelle covered her mouth stifling a small laugh. She had never been to school before but she never would have imagined teachers to be 'smart' either. It was all semi-hillarious when she thought about it.

" Eh, Oh i had a small problem with some students." Artemis said with the look he had used on several principals and superintendents. It was a half-truth, those older students told him the greenhouses were on the roof, what was to be expected though, they were Hufflepuffs. I hate this idiotic professor already. he thought to himself toying with the idea of muttering it to the pompous professor.

(Miss Paul, watch your posting length.)
"With this being both the first day and your first year Mr. Tayern, you're excused. Don't let it happen again." Robert replied, dismissing the boy to his will. "Miss Smythe, your answer sufficed as well, however I'm afraid the dirt comes with the course. Its one of many things you'll have to get used to, my only suggestion to you is to try not to worry about it, I'm quite certain your common rooms still have bathrooms and shower facilities." He finished, surveying the group of them.
"Now then, ground rules, rules I hope you will adhere to at minimum within this greenhouse. Numbr one is Respect. Treat yourself, your peers,a s well as the plants within this room with your utmost respect, some of them really don't like being insulted. Two. Be on time, your eleven, and in about a week should know where all your classes start and the times they begin. Lateness loses your houses points and those in the older years really won't appreciate that much."
He stopped a moment mainly to watch looks change and perhaps bewilderment appear on some of them. No, Professor Shaw was not as lenient as he appeared, but he had his moments and situations where he would be.

((Sorry, didn't realize it was only 3 sentences! )) Michelle listened carefully to the Professor's rules. The were short and sweet not to mention easy to remember so she didn't bother taking the time to write them down. Still she wondered if that was all he had. Most teachers bogged them down with an assortment of rules and guidelines to follow. She had even found one teacher to question about them in her class. With a sigh, Michelle leaned forward gently propping her chin onto her hand. School days and lessons seemed to drag on in the later months of the year.

Okay, be on time and no fooling around, Kyle repeated in his head. It's not all that difficult. The being on time part he was quite confident, unless he got held up by professors. The no fooling around part, really, who wanted to wrestle giant plants which had dragon dang as food?
"Professor," he raised his head but didn't wait to be called. "So what will we be doing?"

" Yes ma'am, What ever you say Miss Shaw!." Artemis said under his breath so only a few people near him could hear. He then walked to an empty desk and waited untill the professor did something so he could have some fun. A Distraction, but how? Artmeis thought, hmmm, what do i have? some string, some paint, my books, A rubber band, and....my wand, ahhh perfect! Artemis said as his hand closed around the small necklace of soda can tabs which he carefully removed and placed on his lap, he then removed the rubberband and placed it on his wrist. to any casual, glance he was fidgeting only if a person'e attention was fully fixed would they notice he was actually DOING something.
( Sorry, i thought Smythe was on the other side of the room so his head was turned.)

"Moving right along then." Robert began again. "Horseplay, is strictly forbidden. I don't believe I need to explain to you the dangers of fooling around in a classroom setting. You will lose points for it, and depending on severeity, perhaps obtain yourself a nice detention." Last year's group had been a decent one, he'd had few problems, and even fewer ones that required attending to.
"Mr. Hersten, today we will not be doing anything, I believe that is all I have to cover. The rest of the time remaining is yours, but do keep it within, reasonable parameters.. However starting tomorrow* we will begin studies."
((Asterik denotes non-played lesson.))

When Michelle heard that they weren't going to learn anything that lesson, she gave the teacher a dissapointed look. She was excited to learn about something, anything at this point but he had gotten her hopes up and let her down.
With a shrug she turned to Flora. "Stimulating wasn't it?" She said in a joking tone.

Artemis hid everything into his pockets except the one soda tab and his rubberband which he readied under the desk. he bent the tab under the table and pulled it back aiming at the teacher from under the desk. I Hope this works... Artemis thought as he released the soda tab in the direction of the teacher, and opened his hand up letting the rubberband go onto his wrist in one motion. He then kept a stone look as he 'read' his book on his lap.

Flora was slightly disappointed when she heard that they weren't going to do anything today. Herbology sounded interesting by what she heard. When Michelle turned to speak to her, Flora laughed. "Oh yes, very stimulating. I thought ve vere going to get a little dirty at least." she said. "So...vat do you vant to do for ze rest of class." she asked Michelle
