"Dude, we'll get over this soon enough," Charlie said with a bit of confidence. If she could just remain guilty free and and she made it easy to overpass the subject, then it would also help him, wouldn't it? They still had some time to mend things. She just had to make him forget about her in the way he used to think of it. Easier said than done, but whatever.
That little plan formulated in her mind before she heard his words and saw the pin gleam in his hands. It reminded her of her own badge in her hand just days before, and the close distance it took to get that taken care of. However, she didn't want the same scenario happening to Dragos. First, she believed he could do just well as a prefect. Second, she wasn't sure if she wanted to know how Raynor would take to hearing another prefect dropped out so quickly after the first.
"No, man, you gotta keep it 'cause you deserve it. 'Sides, I already taught ya what ya need to teach to the new prefect comin' soon," She took another handful of the jellybeans and looked at him, thinking if he would understand what she was talking about. The badge was missing from her uniform, after all.

His eyes flicked to her robes and he noticed her badge was gone. He looked back up at the girl, disbelief sprawled across his features. "Wait, wait, what? New prefect?" Dragos questioned, sitting up quickly and leaning toward Charlie, "What do you mean, new prefect. Where the hell do you think you're going? I can't do this without you. Hello? Rubbish!"

She looked down at her absent pin and nodded. Now only the faded Slytherin crest replaced the P she kept for two years. "I had to quit my position, Dragos. Dude, you don't understand. But since I'm still qudditch captain, I'm still a 'student leader' like they call 'em." She shrugged at him.
Charlie had taken this much better than he did, mostly because she felt she was coming to terms with what she really wanted. " 'Sides, I'll still help you two if you want. 'Lieve me, man, you couldn't make me not help you if you wanted."
Quite true. She could herself resigning the position, but only in name. Like the captain position, she always tended to butt into things. And since she learned about the trades of a prefect at a younger age, she saw herself as more experienced as the two prefects that weren't her.

Dragos swore in Croatian under his breath and leaned back, still not wanting to believe that he was now on his own and very much so without Charlie. He had no idea what he was doing even with her, how was he supposed to lead another when they were coming in? The Slytherin boy took a deep, calming breath before attempting speech again.
"Do you know who it is that's taking over?" he asked her curiously. If it was some little kid, Dragos was going to walk off the Astronomy Tower with his hands and feet tied. He couldn't bear the thought of having to work with an immature little kid. At least Charlie was only a year behind him. Anything else just wouldn't work.

Charlie scratched her head to give it a thought. The meeting with Raynor hadn't been too long ago and though it was fresh in her mind, she wished it was blurry and unclear. "I dunno. I told Raynor to think about getting Nic or Es to do it, but I didn't get much outta her with that. Guess you'll see." She shrugged.
"Look, man, I just think I need to focus on being the qudditch captain right now, 'cause I wanna be able to get one thing in my life under my control," She absentmindedly gritted her teeth at it, "It ain't really happening, and could've been worse. But you still got me, man. I got your back."

Dragos just nodded in response, slowly started to feel remorse for blowing up at Charlie like that. She hadn't deserved that and it really wasn't her fault. Dragos had his father's quick temper and it was difficult to control, as was just show previously. He hated it, but that's the way it was. The Slytherin prefect's eyes wandered back over to the girl, but he looked away quickly, trying to apologize.
"Sorry, Charlie," he told her quietly, looking down at his hands fidgeting in his lap, "I shouldn't have yelled like that. I'm sorry."
