He rarely showed his head here, never really saw a point in it. Over break the common room had been as empty as this place generally was. Plus, he didn't rightly care. Sure, it had nice chairs, and its own bath, and...all that other stuff, but the pressures of the badge were wearing on him. He was tired of getting hexed stopping duels, tired of having to tell people to 'move along' or something of the like. It was all just, pointless. People can solve their own problems.
Yet there he was, sprawled out across the couch with no intention of moving unless forced. This, wouldn't generally be hard to do as 'forced' usually meant something as small as 'can you make room?' The Gryffindor Prefect was taking solace in the empty room, for once, and probably only once, he actually had found some sort of peace.

Out on the fourth floor, Keagan had gotten herself into a messy situation. Of course, this had become almost routine for the female half of the Gryffindor prefects, seeing as it was an explicit part of her job duties that she had to put herself in the middle of messy situations. In this case, the situation was a spur-of-the-moment, slime-balloon fight in the middle of the fourth floor corridor.
A couple of second years had coordinated the affair, perhaps in hopes of recreating a snowball fight of days gone by, when the snow was of a consistency to actually battle with. Whatever their reasoning, the showdown had occurred, and Keag had stepped right into the middle of it, badge in hand. The first balloon had hit her from behind, in a rather...padded... location on the stern of her figure, but the second had hit much harder; the youth in front of her returned fire and nailed Keagan in the face with an exploding rubber ball of green goop. That one kind of hurt, but not enough to keep Keagan from confiscating the weaponry with a flick of her want and a quick incantation, and from docking each boy points from their respective houses. Though both obviously unhappy, the pair set off together in search of further adventure and occupation of their free time.
Keag, on the other hand, now found herself with an armload of nasty balloon grenades and slime covered robes. Joy. At least she was on the fourth floor, where she would find the prefects lounge and, hopefully, some peace.
Levitating the balloons behind her, she set off for the lounge, and she found it nearly empty. The only figure in the entire room seemed to be her male prefect counterpart, resting his eyes comfortable on the sofa. "Oi," she called as she let the balloons waft gently into a corner of the room in an organized mess of a pile.

'Oi!'
The one word greeting that had he been sleeping would have resulted in a hex flying rather quickly in the general direction of his badge bearing partner. He paused a moment deciding on whether to fake sleep or just plain open his eyes like a normal human being. Finally he decided on the latter, it was simply more fair and professional. Plus, he hadn't talked tot he lioness in a good while.
"Oi yourself." Corey countered with a small wave as his eyes opened. The sight to behold was one that made him fight to hold back a snicker. The slime reflected the light and looked almost as if someone had let slugs loose on her robes, that, leaked green slime. Whatever, it was amusing none the less, as her robes were covered in the gunk as well as apparently she'd taken at least one head shot.
"What'd you get yourself into? You do know you can back down from a situation if you have to, right?" He questioned as he hauled himself up into a sitting position, a snicker finally escaping his mouth. "Sorry...but you have to picture it from my view to see the funny in it I suppose."

"I can see the funny just fine from my end, actually," Keagan replied with a grin, shaking a bit of the ridiculously thick slime from her hair. "It just gets a little bit more difficult when your cheek is stinging and your head hurts from your brain sliding around after impact." Her grin only broadened, even as another wave of pain shook through her head and she winced.
"Those second years really are a wild bunch, ya know?" Keagan continued, shaking her head, this time in a bit of a bewildered state. "And, if I hadn't felt compelled to end their choice of activity due to this filthy badge, I probably would've backed down. Turn tail and run for cover is more like it."

"Nice to know your hindisght is better than first impulse. Your no different from the rest of us then." He claimed to her second comment, finding a reason to grin along with it. At least he knew she wouldn't turn around and hex him. The 'wait for the spell' phase was over, on to civil conversation.
"Perks of having the badge, is this place, the...not perks, are you have to enforce just about every rule known to the Caretaker and ruin people's fun... ... if ye want to." He added, though taking only a small pause befoe questioning that awful question.
"So...what exactly happened to you?" A small smirk came to his face.

"Indeed," Keag replied with a nod, though she saw no harm in being different. Her grin had snuck off when her attention returned to her current appearance and state; she was having difficulty figuring out how to get rid of the gunk and back to a minimally clean state, at least. There was a charm to use...but what was it? Scurgify was the first thing to come to Keag's mind, but her first impulses weren't always accurate or the best choice.
The necessity of having to reply to Corey's statements and inquiry brought her back to the conversation, however, without solving her dilemma. She had been listening, but hadn't much need to reply. And yet...you had to, in order for it to be a conversation. "I'd say another perk is the respect you get from the rule followers, or simply younger students. Then again, the latter group may just feel compelled to respect us because we're older."
His inquiry and smirk made Keagan smile again. "Well, it's hard to say what exactly happened, but I do know that I stepped into quite an aggressive slime battle between two second year mates. They were using those lovely items as ammunition," she stated, gesturing to the pile of balloons she had left lying haphazardly in the corner. "Needless to say, they weren't very happy when they left the battle scene."

His gaze followed her gesture to the pile of, weapons, if there were that many left, after the battle, he could only imagine how many there were before the fact. OK, so he couldn't, but he could estimate, but, whatever number he guessed probably was either too much or too little.
As the lioness went into her explanation, Corey could only shake his head. "Shouldnt've gone and jumped into the middle of it, you know theres always one of us crashing out here at all times." He said, his smirk turning back to a grin. "Nothing permanent I hope?"

"I know, I know," Keagan replied, rolling her eyes. Of course she shouldn't have leaped into the fight, trying to save the day. And of course there was always a fellow prefect somewhere around, especially on the fourth floor. But did any of this cross Keag's mind? Never. Perhaps she just wasn't good at thinking on her feet. ((Duh...XD))
At the mention of permanence, Keag's expression stiffened. She hadn't thought of that. If these balloons were anything like Alhana's, the slime crud could be stuck on her for quite some time, if not forever, without the proper removal spell. "Man, I hope not!" she replied with a slightly terror-stricken look. The resulting expression was laughable.

His wand presently being twirled lightly between his fingers, the look on her face, though highly amusing, did nothing more but emphasize the smirk on his face as he lightly shook his head. "You know the spell or not?" He questioned lightly, recalling it to the front of his mind almost immediately. At least, he hoped it was.
Still, there was only like, three options to choose from, you can't botch something up with so few choices, right?

"I have an idea...but not if this goo is permanent and what not," Keagan said, shaking a bit of the excess scum off the arm of the robes she was wearing, having attended classes earlier in the day. Of course, she wasn't too sure about her original idea for the charm anyway, so she might as well take Corey's help if offered her, but there was no need to ask for it...yet. Despite the beliefs of some people - a sorely missed person, in this case - Keag was actually quite shy when it came to being embarassed.

"Well, you try yours and see if anything happens, if not...we'll try the other charm and then talk to Alhana." He claimed with a small chuckle that simply could not be surpressed. It was all too amusing, two to one ration against her, but they were second years. They were supposed to be harmless. First lesson, nothing, in this school, was 'harmless'.
"Sorry, but you'd be laughing if it were me and yuo know it." He said in all seriousness, if she denied such a thing, well. He'd have to accept that perhaps there was a small cruelty streak in him. So be it.

"Um, ok...," Keag replied as she pulled her wand out of the pocket of her robe where she'd stuffed it after hauling the balloons into the lounge. She stuck his tongue out at his laughter, but realized that what he said was right. "I do know it. In fact, I'd probably be laughing twice as hard!"
That said, Keagan turned her wand on herself. 'Hopefully this is right...' "Scourgify!" she voiced in a stern tone, the way they had been instructed to in Charms in order to get this charm to work. However, she'd closed her eyes as she did. Popping one of them open, she glanced at Corey. "It work?"

"I know you would...you're human...its how we all react." He claimed with a small shrug, a hand going to tap her arm lightly for the gesture.
He couldn't help but laugh, the fact that she had closed her eyes only made it all more priceless than it had already been. "Looks like it did enough, though, something definately stained in spots. You do have other robes right?" He questioned seriously, though anyone who worked out of one set of robes was truly insane, or, skipping class half of every day.

After Corey had affirmed that accomplished enough, Keagan let out a giant sigh of relief before opening both her eyes completely. "Thank Merlin," she muttered.
The seriousness in her fellow prefect's next question was offputting, but Keagan hoped that her assumption that his question wasn't as serious as it sounded was a safe one. "Of course." She nodded and rolled her eyes before smiling. How silly would he have to think her if he was truly serious?

"I'd thank your memory before thanking Merlin..." Corey countered after hearing Keagan's muttering. It did no good to thank what probably didn't deserve credit in the matter. Plus, it was becoming an overused expression that ruined the name of one of the greatest wizards in history.
"Twas just a question...as some people...eh...." Awkward moment, and hindsight was telling him he probably shouldn't have brought it up, but, whatever. It was alittle late now.
