Charlie resisted in giving Es a look, knowing very well that the scolding hadn't ended in something that meant some sort of silent consequence. And when she was called on her display of visual opinion, all she could do was give a lazy salute and, "Aye, aye, prof." Charlie figured it was the right response to balance her rising annoyance and the house points. She whispered at Dragos, "Dude, answer somethin'. I want some points."

Es's eyes went from Brandon to the Professor who was scolding her. Wait a minute, she was scolding her? She tried not to be haughty and give the Professor a look she knew she wouldn't like, and instead tried to look humble, innocent, and sorry for the crime she had committed by being 20 seconds late. This type of thinking wasn't like Es at all and it was kind of only annoyed her further that she wanted to shoot the Professor a dirty look. That wasn't her deparment, that was someone elses. She was the quiet girl who always got her answers right. Well it seemed this time was different.
She glanced over at Charlie as she made a gagging noise and the Professor took away five points. Wow, this woman was insane! It was only the first five minutes of the lesson and she already took away five of their points because of a sound! She sighed and glanced at Brandon to show him her annoyance. She wasn't about to answer the question even though it was an easy one. Her Father was a muggle and her mother reverted to the muggle ways, so she knew quite alot about them, but she didn't feel like answering. Es pushed her hair out of her face and listened to everyone else's respones.

Respect. This teacher was a sticker for respect and Ron had to respect that. Nodding when the warning arrived, Ron made a mental note not to challenge any one in this class, not that she enjoyed doing it in any class but it was known to happen to her so she wouldn't take any chances. Ron tucked a stray curl behind her ear before thinking long and hard on what electricity was to her. What did it mean to her?
Ron took a quick glance of the class and guessed no one else was going to answer. She would just have to try again. Raising her hand again, Ron cleared her throat before she spoke. 'Well,' she said uncertainly, 'electricity is automated and generally instant flow of charge that results in a light coming on when you flip a switch or Mr Paddington's lawn mower coming on when he pumps that switch.' Ron was still close to all the muggle children where she lived and Merrika and she had often watch her father cut the lawn with what he called the lawn mower. That was all electricity was to her, really, a way to cut the lawn.

Alexander's mouth almost dropped as the professor took away points for a sound that another classmate made. What if she had really been choking? Alexander shut his mouth, hoping that that wouldn't get points taken away from his own house as well. This professor was odd. Alexander had to stifle a snort. What professor isn't? he asked himself as the girl....she had answered to the name of Price?.....tried once more to give an answer. Alexander kept his eyes down into his notes as he rolled his eyes.
Whereas he knew what the girl was saying, Alexander didn't think that was what the professor was looking for. It still had no definition....no simple definition of what electricity was. Was there a simple definition? Alexander looked up from his notes and rose his hand. "What about the concept of how muggles survive, no a days?" he questioned and then decided to continue.
"You see, electricity is the power muggles have that heat their homes and light their houses. It's what they use to power their gadgets that are so different from our own tools in which we use as magical beings. In it's own way, as magic is to us natural, and foreign to muggles, electricity..." Alexander hesitated. "Among many other things muggles have, electricity is almost a muggles form or type of magic."
Alexander stopped, a bit proud of himself for speaking up since it wasn't usually that he did so. But living in a muggle home all of his life with parents who had both muggle jobs (though his mother was a witch) Alexander felt as if he could at least give the professor what she was looking for if anything else. And hell, maybe he even got some house points for that one.
