Verina's eyes grew slightly as she listened to everything the professor was saying. She knew a little but about Muggles since when she lived in Mexico her dad's family had lived near a Muggle community but as far as a PDA she'd never heard of that before. But she had seen the thing that was on his desk before though she didn't know what it really did. She quickly took down some notes as a girl asked a question seemed the only way to keep up was to write as fast as she could. For once she wasn't overly hyper so she wasn't bouncing in her seat but instead was biting on her tongue slightly.

"Yes, go ahead Charlie," Professor Norbrook said when the girl had raised her hand saying she had a question. “They wish it would do the stuff for them, but unfortunately for them it does not.” he said smiling a little at her question. “The PDA's organize muggles lives in that it tells them when they are suppose to be somewhere or what they had planned for a given day. It only gives them the information that they put into it and holds it there until the muggle wants to reference that information again. It doesn't actually do errands for them, it just tells them when to do them. Are there anymore questions about the PDA, because if there aren't then lets move on. If you come up with a question you are always welcome to raise your hand and ask it."
“Now lets move on to the cell phone, which is another muggle device that stores information but not as its major function. Can anyone tell me what the major function of the cell phone is?” Norbrook asked looking around at the class. If they had known what a PDA was, they were sure to know about cell phones.

As Proffy Norbrook explained the rather dullness of the PDA, she wrote in her pad, Doesn't do errands. Better off with parchment.
Now cell phones were more in her expertise. She had never really touched one, much less seen them, but it seemed to make sense to connect it to a telephone, which she had used once. And she didn't think she wanted to again. It just felt creepy putting something to your ear and listen to a voice that you could only hear. Some people seemed to do that even without the phone to their ear (but she didn't know that they had headsets).
Raising her hand again, she stopped halfway and thought how much of a nerd she must have looked. But it's an easy answer, she reasoned, and shot it straight into the air. "Cell phone's kinda like a telephone... you talk to someone who's not with ya." Merlin, what's that one word? She snapped her fingers to hope to remember. Then it came to her. "Communication."

Once again Kylie was beat to answering a question. This time by an over enthusiastic Slytherin. Who she couldn't believe could answer the question if she hadn't known that a PDA was just a information storage device and not a maid. Being a muggle born she knew everything about cell phones and even had one back at home so that she could talk to her parents and friends in the 'normal' manner that was expected in an all muggle community. Could you imagine the look on the muggles face if an owl came soaring into their home with a letter? They would flip.
"Cell phones differ from telephones in that they can be carried around in a pocket or purse and in that they are more compact then a normal telephone that you would use in a muggle house. Some muggles have even gotten rid of their telephones at home and just use a cell phone because it is easier and more convenient." Kylie added after Charlie was done making her response, "Oh and they can also be used all over the country and world for that matter, unlike a telephone that can only be used in the home." she said as an after thought.

“Both of you are correct. A cell phone is like a telephone in that it is used to keep people in contact with each other and allow them to talk to each other instantly. And that a cell phone is smaller than a telephone, but that wasn’t always the case. It has only been in the last couple of years that the cell phone has been reduced in size to that of a wallet or a deck of cards, some are even smaller than that.” Norbrook said glad that he was getting so much participation in the class, because it would have been really dull just to sit and listen to him talk. He also could pretty much guess that Kylie was a muggle born or she was just a person that made it a point to know everything, because of how in depth her answer was and how good of an understanding she had. He took note of the people that had given answers and would make it a point to award points accordingly, but didn’t feel the need to announce it.
“The main difference between the two is that the cell phone is wireless and can be used in more places then the telephone like Kylie has explained. Another difference is that a cell phone can access a limited internet, like the PDA, and some have a global tracking device that lets someone know exactly where the cell phone is if the carrier is in danger and activates it.” he continued taking a few of the different models of cell phones off of his desk and handing one to each of the students in the class so that they could see what they looked like and how they worked. He had modified them so that they would only work with in the classroom allowing the students to call each other. He had
“Ok the cell phones that I have passed out to everyone are actual working ones. There is a list with all of the phone numbers to everyone’s cell on the back of each phone. Try a few and see who you can get on the other end. All go first so that everyone will understand how they work.” Norbrook said a he picked up the remaining cell phone on his desk and dialed one of the numbers off of the back showing the class how and explaining it to them as he did so. “To answer all you have to do is hit the green telephone or the talk button that is located usually at the top of the numbers, then to end it you just hit the red telephone of the off button.” he said turning his phone so that everyone could see and showing them where the buttons were located. A ringing noise filled the room and he waited for whoever’s cell phone it was to answer it.
((I didn’t specify who’s phone it was so whoever wants it to be theirs and post firsts is the one I’ll go with.))

(Don't mind if I take this one?)
Charlie jumped up a mile and half when she heard her phone make an odd ring. She looked at it as it lit up and displayed the number. "No fires or stuff like that? That's awesome!" She said, and almost forgot to to pick it up. "Oh... yeah." She pressed the green button and looked at it another second before putting the device to her ear. "Uh... hello?" She put the phone back in front of her, but not before hearing her own voice bounce back, creating a nuisance echo.

Norbrook just had to smile at Charlie's reaction to the phone ringing. Charlie was perhaps the best person to have gotten the phone call, well entertainment wise she was probably the best. He had put his phone on speaker phone so the whole class would be able to hear it when she picked up, that was if she picked up. For a minute there it looked as if the phone was never going to be answered.
As she picked it up and said, 'hello' her voice rang out across the whole room. He picked up his phone to say hello and soon his voice could be heard coming out of the phone that was for some reason being held in front of her. "Ok now you guys try calling one of the numbers on the list. You won't be able to hear it without putting it up to your ear though, do to the fact that your phones aren't on speaker phone like mine is." he said thinking that it was probably best that they didn't put it on speaker phone because there would be to many conversations going on at once.

Picking up her black cell phone, Matty flipped the off one half of it. Filp Top... cool Even though she was not a muggle born, she knew how to use a cell phone. Then checking the numbers on the back, she punched in the numbers for the last phone number. Putting the cell up to her ear, she woundered on whom it would ring. Pressing the lime green button, she pressed it to her ear. A sharp ringing noice hit her ear, and she waited for someone to pick up. Then looking around to room to see who else was calling.

Ring, Ring rang out form the small silver thing in front of him. It seemed that someone was attempting to call him on the phone that Professor Norbrook had just passed out. Taking the phone in his right hand he flipped it open and pressed the green button. “Hello,” Jack said looking around the room to see who might have called him. Seeing Matty holding up the cell phone to her ear he guessed that she would be the one on the other end. He hadn’t really ever talked on a actual muggle phone before so it was quite the experience when someone finally did answer it.

Jynx who had been watching as few of the students started calling each other decided to give it a try. He picked up the phone and dialed the last number on the list, but all he got was a funny beeping noise. He knew that this must mean that the person he had called was already on the line. It must be either Jack’s or Matty’s phone he was calling. Hanging up by pressing the red button he tried a different number on the list and waited for someone to pick it up. He could hear it ringing through so he knew that it had to be one of the phones that wasn’t being used.

Kylie looked around the room as a couple of the students had tried out there phones. Cell phones were such a part of Kylie's life back home that she knew exactly what they were used for and almost every single function that they could do. She was a master of the cell phone, in her opinion of course, and often got into trouble back at home for using more minutes then were allotted. So when the little black phone in front of her rang she gave no second thought about it and picked it up immediately. "Hello, this is Kylie," she said cheerfully as if she was greeting one of the friends from back home.

Of corse it had been chicken boy who had picked up her number. Matty remembered about the time, where Jynx and him had fought together. Smiling and replying she answered "Hey. How are you?" in a happy voice. She was quite enjoying her Muggle Studies class, even though she had infact missed the first one. But all the same she was now glad that she was in it, considering that it was proving to be quite fun. Then taking her thoughts back onto what she was doing, matty waited for Jack to say something more.

“Hey Matty, Pretty good.” Jack said into the phone in a rather louder voice then was needed. He wanted to make sure that Matty could hear him on the other end. Well if she couldn’t she would definitely be able to hear him across the room. “So how are has it been going?” Jack said with a smile over in Matty’s direction. Then looking over to Jynx took the phone from his ear for a brief moment and said winking at him, “Jynx I’ve got your girlfriend on the line.” Then he put the phone back up to his ear to hear Matty’s response.

"Hey Kylie, this is Jynx. Hold on a moment." Jynx said as he heard Kylie answer his phone call, but got side tracked by Jack and his stupid antics. Walking over to where Jack was he took the phone that he was talking on down from his ear and then ripped Jacks out of his hand switching it with his own. Now Jack was talking to Kylie and he was talking to Matty. This worked out better since he didn't trust Jack to be on the line with Matty. Who knows what embarrassing stuff he might say. "There," he said putting up Jack's phone to his ear.

Smiling while watching Jack also smile at her, she noticed that him and Jynx were having a non-moblie conversation. “Jynx I’ve got your girlfriend on the line.” she heard Jack say, then eyeing Jynx switing phones, she just had to snigger at them both. Shaking her head, she heard muffling sounds as the phones were taken. Sighing slighlty, she said in her end of the mobile "Now, now... There was no need to fight over me."she said with a snicker, smiling at him. Then turning away from them both to make things better.
