{This is for any fourth year and above who has ALREADY taken at LEAST one year of Arithmancy. If you have not, you will need to join the beginning class.}
Becca had volunteered to fill the Arithmancy position just until a permenant professor could be found. The students she was expecting should already be familiar with the basics (but were still in for a bit of review) and so there wasn't much to set up this period.
The door was open and inviting the students in, but Becca was at the desk, feet propped up and her nose in a book, apparently unaware of anyone entering.

Drew took a quick peek into the classroom. The bad news was it was studentless, making it harder to sneek into. The good news was that Davenport had her nose stuck in her book and would probably not notice his entrance. He quietly slipped in and took a seat by the window.
Technically, he probably shouldn't have been in the room (and it was this technicality that kept him from just waltzing across the room). He had never taken an Arithmancy class in his life, but thought it unfair that he should have to start out at a novice level just because there was no Runes professor. So, to prepare, he had sto... er, borrowed Allegra's notes and gone over them, getting the gist of the subject, he felt.
Now, only time and Davenport's class would tell.

Allegra came into the class and smiled at the boy already seated there... until she realized who it was. Giving up her regular seat to the side of the professor, she sat next to her brother to speak to him. She wanted to tell him off, but really didn't want him to get into any trouble.
"What are you doing here? You were supposed to be in the Beginning class!" she hissed at him, keeping an eye on the professor and hoping the woman stayed focused on her book.

"It's not my fault there's no Runes professor," Drew hissed back. He had forgotten Allegra was the TA for this subject. It was going to be bad enough to convince Davenport, but now, obviously, he had to get through his sister first. "I shouldn't have to be stuck a year behind schedule just because Hailey decided to switch to librarian!"

"You can't do it!" Allegra retorted, still keeping her voice low. "You think you're all smart becasue you took my stuff... don't give me that look, I know you did... but you still need to go through the proper channels! you can't just decide your'e going to be in whatever class you want!"

"Have you SEEN who's in the other class?" Arianna asked as she waltzed into the room and took a seat near Drew. She had peeked in on the class earlier that day and was more than happy she had some arithmancy experience behind her. And even though Drew shouldn't have been in the upper level class, it wouldn't bother her at all if the teacher (and Allegra) allowed him to stay.

"E.....veryone else," Professor Davenport answered from behind her book. She closed it with a sharp snap and looked at the three Ravenclaws, pausing especially on the young man. "Your sister is right, Mr. Thornton. My records show you should be in the beginning class. I'm sorry, but half a term of Muggle Studies and nearly a year in Runes isn't going to get you far here."

"But I missed the other class," Drew told her, already starting in on the resons he had planned out. "I'm already here. You might as well see if I can keep up, right? If I can't, I'll go back to the Beginning class. Go ahead... try me. Ask me anything."
In reading over Allegra's notes, he had actually found the subject interesting. The only thing really keeping him out of it was that Allegra liked it so much.

She raised an eyebrow at the boy's confidence and was tempted to ask him to compare and contrast his character numbers from the Pythagorean system and the Caldean system, but decided to go simple instead.
"For Miss Marlow as well," she announced, knowing the girl had Arithmancy experience, but also knowing it had been a while. If they couldn't do the basics, she'd place them both in the Beggining class and she and Allegra could have an early tea. "Character, Heart, and Social numbers please. And show your work of course..."

Drew waited patiently for the Professor to put up the chart before he realized she wasn't going to put it up. With a small start of surprise, he grabbed his paper and quill and started scratching out numbers furiously. There was no way he wanted to get stuck in the other class.
Like an idiot, he had forgotten Allegra's notes, but he knew the chart was easy to replicate. He also remembered you got a better number by using your full name.
ANDREW 1+5+4+9+5+5 = 29 MARK 4+1+9+2 = 16 THORNTON 2+8+6+9+5+2+6+5 = 43
29 + 16 + 43 = 88 8 + 8 = 16 1 + 6 = 7
character- 7 heart- 1 social- 6

Arianna wanted to object to having to do the work. Davenport knew she'd taken the class before. But Arianna supposed it would be better to go ahead and do it and show that she still knew how to.
Setting her full name down on a piece of parchment and writing out the number chart, Arianna quickly did her calculations and handed them to the professor.
ARIANNA 1+9+9+1+5+5+1=31 MARLOW 4+1+9+3+6+5=28 SHRIVER-KAILAS 1+8+9+9+4+5+9+2+1+9+1+1=62
31+28+62=121 1+2+1=4 1+0= 1
character ~ 4 heart ~ 8 social ~ 5

Allegra glanced over at Ari and Drew's work, taking a double take at what her brother had written down. "Hey! I'm a seven too! You think Mom and Dad planned that?" she asked, though she doubted they had. Mark and Lolly Thornton didn't usually subscribe to the nonsense of divining your destiny. The only reason they even considered Arithmancy a valid subject was because it had some basis in science.

"What's seven mean?" Drew whispered at her, hopinjg Davenport wouldn't hear him and think he didn't know. He remembered one of his numbers meant he was supposedly sarcastic...
Not that he actually believed in that...

"Um...my numbers are different from last time," Arianna commented. She known they would be, but it caused numerous questions to emerge. "Is that supposed to mean that I change because my name did?"

"Sevens are bright, enjoy a good challenge and tend to be sarcastic," Allegra told him, grinning wide. "But I honestly don't see that last bit in me.... or that first bit in you."
