How could they possibly all be so attentive in class when all Mel could think about doing was going back to the dorms and sleeping... Yawning widely, Mel searched the classroom once again, not really paying attention to the class. If she failed, well, that was her own fault, was it not? Biting on her bottom lip, the fourth year closed one of her two eyes. Did it really matter if she just slipped away if she was going to fail either way?

Alhana had slipped into the classroom several seconds before the professor abruptly awoke and began class. She seated herself in an empty seat somewhere behind Drew as the two beside him were taken by either Charlie or Ash. Quill and parchment lay still and blank, devoid of any notes besides elements.
What she found sad was that they were asked to name planets by sight that most of them could have done by the age of ten. Almost every little kid at one point in time wanted to be an astronaut and went stargazing. It was part of little kidness...They weren't even learning any of the details of the planets. No characteristics. No year lengths. No mission flybys. Nothing. Alhana wrinkled her nose and dazed off to the night sky on the walls, keeping only one ear to what the woman was saying.

Solis nodded at the pair of Ravenclaws. "Good," she said. "10 points to Ravenclaw. Copy these notes down," she instructed.
She crossed her arms and moved towards the chalk board. "I see this is all review for you guys," she said, glad that most of the work had been done for her. "So I'll just cover up the remaining elemental planets,"
"Although they aren't exactly part of the initial five elements, the other planets effect other branches of magic. You must still know these, they are still crucial,"
Solis turned back to her class after all the words had formed on the board. The class seemed to know their material, so she felt that it was just best to move on.
"Let's see how good you guys are at detecting what planet is in the sky at what time. Anyone... when will a Water-based spell be the strongest?" She felt that this would be a rather tough question, and would be extremely impressed if anyone had got this right. "If you need to refer back to star charts and the sort, feel free to do so. Discuss this if you must,"

Ash jotted down the notes in a neat scrawl.
She looked around herself, if anyone had the answer to Solis's question. She had absolutely no idea what it was, although still wanted to find the answer. She took her text book into her lap and began to flip through the pages madly, hoping that she would find the answer in time. Astronmoy wasn't her best subject.

Verina thought she was gonna love this class even if it was just because of the way they were sitting as if it were a coleseum. Besides that she was very much a nocturnal person she couldn't believe how tired some people looked. She on the other hand was jumpy in her chair and paying attention to the professor's lecture. Occasionaly she'd jot down some notes that she thought was important but mostly she just listened and enjoyed the view.

Jack, thrilled that Ravenclaw had gotten ten points for him and Ash's answers, thought that the answer had to be when Mercury was the highest in the sky or something, but since he didn't really know he just jotted the notes down onto his parchment with his quill quietly and waited for someone else to give the question a shot. He was thinking that this was too obvious of an answer and that she must be looking for specific months or dates or something. If that was the case anyones guess was as good as his.

Logan who was here all this time was listening to what they we're talking about. Although he didn't really care for Astronomy. He hated this class, but the professor was pretty cool. He didn't know a lot of Astronomy and didn't care. All he cared about was the basketball incident. Good thing his nose was repaired or he would be humiliated with a patch on his nose.

Though the class was giving her major yawns, Charlie was more attentive this time. She looked both ways at her classmates and decided to give it a try. As she raised her hand, she did it slowly and rather meekly. She didn't have a chart to refer to, mostly because she forgot to start one. "Uh... maybe at high tide?" It was a decent guess. She wasn't expecting much from it.

Pat hadn't nodded off again just yet, but his tiredness had kept him from contributing so far to the discussion. He knew enough about astronomy, or at least the myths and legends that went with it, and the planets were easy enough to remember from past classes. Pat scrawled down the notes that Solis put on the board, although he didn't know if his handwriting at the moment would be legible to him later.
When Solis asked her question, Pat looked for a few seconds at the notes he'd just written down. At what time would water spells be strongest...? Something in his brain clicked for a moment and Pat raised his hand, slowly due to his tiredness, but when he spoke, his voice was fairly clear. "How 'bout when Mercury's up in the sky and Mars isn't?" It made sense to him: water-based in the sky, fire-based, its opposite, not in the sky. Maybe he'd actually accomplish something useful this class...

"When Neptune is the most prominent," Drwe answered, without even pausing from his note taking. It was an obvious answer, but he had discovered a lot of times the obvious one turned out to be right. Neptune was the god of the seas so therefore when that planet was in the skies, a water spell would be strongest.
Now he just hoped Solis didn't ask him when Neptune was most prominent...

"Correct Mr. Nollet, 10 points to Hufflepuff. You even included the opposite. I'm extremely impressed," she gave him a smile and turned to Drew, who also seemed to offer another answer.
"Er... that's a nice try since Neptune is often associated with the seas. However, if you look up on the board, it says that Neptune affects weather-related magic, mainly precipitation-based magic. Nice try though, 3 points for Ravenclaw for your effort,"
It was precisely the answer that she was hoping someone would say. It was definitely an honest mistake. This was where Astronomy and old legends began to clash.
"However, as correct as Mr. Nollet is, I'm afraid I was looking for a more precise answer. I'll clarify myself, and narrow it down for you. When was the last time that Mercury was seen the brightest in the sky?"

Jake glanced up to who ever was talking at the time from his note taking. He had just jotted down a few things, nothing too in depth. If the Professor wanted him to write a novel... Jake figured he might as well just read the book instead. He shrugged slightly to the Professor's question about water spell or something of the like... Taking a few seconds to jot down the question and answer. He looked back to Solis as she asked another question, but he didn't have an answer... Astronomy wasn't his best class.

Drew slumped back into his seat, feeling like he was back to square one. For just a moment there, he felt like he was actually getting the whole star and planet thing. Now, this just proved that he didn't.
And while Nollet's answer may have matched the notes, it still didn't sound quite right to Drew. He didn't bother to argue it though. It wasn't worth getting in trouble with Solis over.
