"I suppose," Lily said. "Simple enough. Well no, no math unless you count arithmancy. But I know some things about geometry, stuff that my mum taught me. She made me spend the last summer with her learning it. Proofs are so evil." She thought for a moment. "Do you ever get to play?"

"You're mother is a teacher as well? I'm sorry was a teacher." Nic wondered if she meant pool. He smiled slowly kind of like a wolf or a little boy with a dirty secret. "Well, that was another way I made money. I used to hustle. I was goooood, but the tables never looked like this. This is nice. Clean. Sweet."

Lily smiled. "My mum was a doctor." She said. "She only taught me what she felt I needed to know. She was a muggle and you know this math stuff was important to her. Even though there was no purpose. Which I never really saw to geometry anyways. But she considered it important to succeeded in the world." She shrugged. "I wish I hadn't been so hard on her."

"Oh," was all Nic said to that. He didn't know any words to change the mood. It slowly became awkward as the silence stretched on. "Uh, you wanna try hittin the ball again?"

"You never took your turn," Lily said with a quiet smile. "Besides I haven't exactly been feeling the greatest today. Not on par you know? And a bit like something awful is going to happen. I don't know why though. I'm probably just nervous." She titled her head down, pretending to examine the pool table, her strawberry blonde curls falling in front of her face.

Nic took a shot easily making a 9-2 combo. "Now it's your turn. Why do you feel something bad is going to happen?" Nic smiled showing off white teeth and dimples. "What bad can happen with you and me?"

"I don't know," Lily said, taking a shot. None of the balls went in. "I've just had an ominous feeling since I woke up. If I could explain it I would, but I don't think I know enough to explain it. I've never been a very good seer. In fact, I flunked divination back in Germany. But I just woke up and something about the day felt off."

Nic took a shot and sunk the 11 ball. "What felt off? Like everything in general or yourself." Nic walked around and pointed at the 3 ball for Lily. It was almost in the cup and if she hit it just right she can knock the ball in without the cue ball following.

"Alright," Lily nodded and took her shot. She hit it to hard and the white ball went in too. "That wasn't supposed to happen was it?" She leaned on her stick. "I felt off. I still feel off. Really off and it's scaring me a bit."

Nic shook his head, but he listened to her words. He walked around the table and took the cue ball out of the pocket and placed it on the table. Then he took a shot missing on purpose setting Lilly up for another easy shot. "Off, like when you feel like the day is slow? Or like you're about to get a bon-- your peri..." Nic trailed off. He wasn't sure about this conversation any more.

Lily took her shot and then looked at Nic. She had finally made it in. She gave a weak smile. "Actions have consquences." She answered quietly, leaning on her pool stick. "I haven't had my," she gestured, as to avoid saying the word for Nic's sake. "In almost 2 years. Not since I was 13."

Nic looked at her tummy then to her face obviously confused. "What consequence do you have where you don't, uh..." Now Nic was sure he shouldn't be having this conversation. It was doing things to his mind that he shouldn't have on his mind. One was horrible and the other was just as bad.

Lily laid her pool cue on the table and sat down, leaning against the leg of the pool table, knees pulled up to her chest. She told him all that she had done to herself, holding nothing back. By the time she was done, her face was a mess of tears. She bit her lip looking down.
((I'll pm you everything she said . . . ))

Nic instatnly went to her and held her again as she cried. He actually picked her up and placed her on the pool table holding her tightly. He shook his head unbelieving everything she had went through. It was so horrible so much more horrible than what he went through. Plus everyone could see she was fragile. Why would anyone want to hurt her?
"It's okay, Lily. Let it all out. I'm so sorry. So so sorry." Nic knew that she was the only one he could truly show his sensitive side to, because he couldn't be insensitive to her. Who could be?

She cried for a while against Nic, not saying anything, not needing to say anything. When she had finished crying, she just sat there sniffing for a bit. "There's one question I've always asked myself," Lily said quietly. "My whole life and I can't stop. I want to stop though. I have to stop asking myself, why me? Because I'm never going to have an answer for it. I'll never know why I wasn't born into a better family and I'll never know why I was the one everyone chose to single out. Those things could have just as easily happened to someone else, but they didn't. They happened to me and I don't know why."
