The door to David's office stood open in welcome to passersby, as it always was when he was in. The professor, however, was engrossed in the scrolls that littered his desk and, therefore, was not paying much attention to anything happening beyond his desk. A colleague in France had owled him these scriptures this morning, dealing with a particularly complicated transcription found in Poland, and had asked what David thought of them. What did he think? They were amazing, that's what he thought. He had been working steadily for nearly three-quarters of an hour, his quill scratching out the translations onto a blank scroll as he read from the original.
Apparently it had something to do with the eighth circle. Powerful stuff that was, and he was intrigued even more. His excitement rising, he continued.

Drew had stormed out of the history class, grabbing Felicity's hand as he caught up to her in the hallway. It had been an intollerable situation in that room and they had needed to get out, needed to tell someone and hopefully get some help with the situation. The question was who to go to?
It was a short discussion and in the end, Drew had brought up the only professor he really fully trusted at this point. Sure the guy was new, but he ran a fair class and that was enough for the Ravenclaw.
Leading Felicity up to the seventh floor, Drew saw the man's open door, but didn't just walk in as he tended to do to Raynor's office. He had a different arrangement with the Headmistress and Drew didn't want to come off as some stupid kid with this man. As they stood infront of the office, he glanced briefly at the girl next to him and tried to smile.
"Professor Pierce?" he asked tentatively as he knocked on the door jamb. Would the man be able to help? Drew wasn't sure, but thought it was worth a shot.

It was a horrible experience. Sure, the blonde had been thrown out of classes before, but not because she'd asked a simple question and was snapped at for it. Yes, she'd left classes on her own because she didn't like the way she was being treated or something about how a class was being taught, but asking one simple, little question on the matter of why she had to change her robes for a class? She thought it was a bit out of the ordinary. Just what had she done to get the Professor so worked up? All she wanted to know was why they were being required to use Transfigurations in a History class. What if she hadn't passed the Transfiguration O.W.L.? That would've been a complete diss on his behalf to believe that just because they all passed the History of Magic O.W.L. meant they'd passed the Transfiguration one as well.
The lioness hadn't gotten too far before Drew had caught up to her and grabbed her hand, making her stop from returning to her common room. If she didn't attend the class, it just meant one more slot she had to study for more important classes. Like Transfiguration, or Potions, or Care of Magical Creatures. Really, she didn't plan on becoming a Historian and didn't feel a need for the class.
But Drew was insisting on telling someone. What would they tell? That she'd asked a question, got snapped at, and then she walked out, followed shortly by her boyfriend? It wasn't much of a story.
However, Felicity gave in, following her boyfriend to this Professor's office. She didn't know who the man was, hadn't ever had an interest in Ancient Runes though her mum taught her a bit, so she didn't take the class. Could she trust the man to do something? But what would he do? And as Drew politely knocked rather than stormed in, Felicity hid slightly behind him, waiting for an answer, or for Drew to start right in.

David jumped slightly, completely unprepared for his visitors. Looking up from his work, he saw Drew and smiled. He didn't recognize who the Ravenclaw was with, but that was irrelevant - all students were welcome here. Standing, he gave them a bright smile. "Drew!" He acknowledged, following his usual practice of calling his students by their first names. He flicked his wand and summoned another chair to accompany the one on the opposite side of his desk, adding more clutter to the small space. "By all means, come in." he ushered, motioning to the chairs. Sitting down again, he leaned back in his own chair, bringing his fingers together and looking over them at the students. "And to what do I owe this visit?"

Drew gave a crooked smile, feeling a little nervous about speaking to the man and dragging his girlfriend along and possibly into bigger trouble. He wasn't exactly sure this was a great idea any more, but now that he was there, he couldn't very well back down. At very least, maybe the professor could give them some advice on the matter.
With a heavy sigh and another glance at Felicity, he stepped into the room. "We... we kind of have a problem we need some help with," Drew started before he realized that probably didn't sound right coming from a guy with a pretty girl in tow. "With a class we're supposed to be in... and we... I wasn't too sure where else to go for this."

David raised his eyebrows in surprise when Drew mentioned a 'problem', and glanced at the Gryffindor lady behind the teen. Oh, he thought with relief as Drew continued, a problem with a class. He found that odd, mainly because he didn't get the impression that Drew was a trouble-maker in classes. What could have gone wrong so early into the term?
"Well, you can begin by taking a seat." He said calmly, motioning for them to sit and then, with a flick of his wand, closing the door so they had more privacy. Leaning forward, he pushed some clutter to the side so that he could rest his elbows on the oak desk and then looked back to the students.
"I can't guarantee I can help, but I can promise you I am certainly willing to do what I can." he said, offering them a smile. "Now, who is this lovely young Gryffindor?" he asked, turning his attention to Felicity.

Refusing to release Drew's hand, Felicity held on tightly as he entered the room. She couldn't even actually remember seeing this man, but that didn't mean she hadn't. It was just she didn't usually pay particular attention to the staff table in the Great Hall, nor did she take his class, so why did she need to know who he was. At this point in time, she was trusting Drew's instinct and following his lead.
What Drew first said didn't even phase the Gryffindor, as oblivious as she could be at times. They had a problem, that was the correct way of putting it as far as she was concerned. And following Drew the rest of the way into the room and taking an offered seat, she wasn't too sure how much she liked the door being closed behind her. It was like being encased in a room with no escape. At least Drew had made her practice spells to open doors, not that she really thought she'd need it.
"Felicity," she answered with a small smile, not really liking being called lovely. She didn't like compliments very much, nor did she liked them coming from people, well...men she didn't know. It was something her dad talked on about, warning her of. "Hjort."
Added only for measure. She'd allow Drew to talk on.

What odd and interesting things Desideria kept finding in her classroom. She had thought that after the summer, everything had been cleared from her room, that a thorough going through had taken place and things were sorted out. The spring before she found a number of things that certainly were not hers, nor did she remember them being a standard part of a potions classroom and she would know. With as much time as she spent in Slughorn's class and office, she'd learned a number of things that belonged, and what didn't.
But these things, these were odd, strange, and interesting all the same. Three bottles covered in odd signs and writings she didn't recognize. Even with her glasses perched on the end of her nose, she didn't understand anything on the three bottles she'd found.
One was a vial, one a bottle with a long neck and bell-shaped belly, and the last a thick square-bottomed bottle. All contained fluids she didn't dare open because she couldn't tell what the markings were. They all looked familiar, but she knew enough not to bother with opening something so strange. She was just glad there was a new Ancient Runes Professor that might be able to help her figure it out.
While she hadn't ever spoken to him before, he seemed an approachable enough man that she had no reason not to knock on his door and ask. The worst he could do was turn her away. And when she did knock lightly on his door, she didn't realize she was interrupting something.

Drew wasn't to sure about having the door closed either and glanced over his shoulder nervously as it clicked shut. He didn't think he had heard it lock, but after the situation they had just left, he was a littel nervous about it.
With another sigh, trying to calm his nerves, he led Felicity towards the chairs. hoping she'd take a seat so they could both try and relax a little.
"We kind of... well, we did walk out of History class just now," he told the man, wondering if it sounded a stupid as he thought it did. He glanced at Felicity again, hoping it would come out of his mouth corectly since she didn't seem to be saying much. "We just didn't know what else to do and we couldn't really stay there." The knock on the door made him jump inspite of himself and he looked back at the Professor to see what the man would do.

"You walked out of class?" David questioned Drew, surprise evident on his face. "Well, as a professor myself I can't say I approve of that course of action, however, I'm not so old that I can't remember what it was like being a student. What exactly happened?" he questioned, just as there was a light knock at the door. "Excuse me just a moment," he told the two students, flicking his wand again and the door swung open gently.
"Ah, Professor," he greeted with a smile, trying to remember her name. It was rough being new! "What can I help you with?" he asked, taking notice of the bottles she held.

Drew was right again. They'd walked of class, had no idea what to do, and he'd talked her into going to this Professor's office because he liked him. Felicity trust Drew's judgment so didn't have any reason not to really like the man just yet. And all he'd done so far was call her lovely, and it wasn't in a creepy way, he was just calling her something nice. Yes, that was all it was.
"Yes, sir," the lioness confirmed with a nod of her head, forcing the blonde ponytail to shake a bit as she did so. They'd left class in a fury, or at least she had. And she'd been given a month's worth of detentions all because she refused to transfigure her robes into roman looking ones and she'd walked out. She didn't know what kind of trouble Drew got into for following her.
"Well, sir," she continued when he asked what happened. "The Professor wanted us to change our robes by transfiguring them." The knock on the door didn't deter her from talking though, nor the question of excuse. "And since it's not a wand class, and just because we're in history doesn't mean we've passed the Transfiguration class, I asked why we had to and then he snapped at me and Drew backed me up a little bit. Then the professor was going on about how we should just teach the lesson because it was obvious..." she trailed off, just noticing who was in the doorway.

The door opened and the woman was glad to find he was indeed in his offic. She needed to figure out what was in the potions bottles so she knew how to properly take care of them. And while they looked familiar and she could probably pinpoint them down to the moment they were bottled, but looks could be deceiving.
"'Ello Professor," she greeted with a friendly smile, one that faultered a bit at seeing two of her best students in the man's office. While she didn't know either very well, they both made good marks, had both done well on their O.W.L.s, and she really had no reason to see why they were in the office. Probably just a matter of homework, or so she kept telling herself. She'd overheard something the Gryffindor said about a professor telling them to teach a class, and she wondered just what it was about. And why were they talking to a new Professor instead of the Headmistress? Or their Heads of House?
"I, uh, I found a couple of bottles laying around in my classroom, but I don't know quite what's written on them. Taking all precautions and whatnot, I don't want to open them without knowing what's in them." Smiling kindly, the portly woman stepped inside, glancing back and forth at the Eagle and the Lion. "Unless I'm... Am I interrupting something and should perhaps come back at a later time?"

"Said he'd do it for us if we didn't do it ourselves... but it sounded more like a threat than an offer," Drew continued as the man opened the door. Drew slumped into his chair, hoping to hide a little when he saw who it was. The Ravenclaw wasn't too crazy about the woman, but really didn't have a reason to distrust her other than her favoritism of Huffles. Considering there were no Badgers involved in this story, maybe she was okay?
"He threw the book across the room after you left," Drew told Felicity in a lower voice as the Professors spoke by the door.

Connor was seething with anger, something new to him. He didn't get angry very easily, but this time happened to be an exception. He hadn't done anything at all to the Professor and yet the man had slumped him into the group opposing him. Why - he didn't know, but it made no sense. He hadn't said anything to make the man think he was opposing the idea of the robes and yet he was automatically seen as someone who would oppose the new professor. How was that right? As he walked down the corridor Connor pulled his robes off and threw them into his bag. If he wasn't going to actually be in a lesson, he didn't want to keep his robes on.
Turning and stopping now to think of what floor he was on, he finally realized he had made his way up to the seventh floor. He turned and spotted Felicity and Drew ducking into a classroom. Maybe he should go with them? They had also walked out of the classroom. He gave a light shrug and walked towards the classroom to find the door slightly ajar.
" 'Scuse me, Professors. " He said with a short nod to Professor Tapia and Professor Pierce. He walked into the classroom as he said this and made his way over to Felicity and Drew.

Felicity liked their Potions Professor for the most part, but she wasn't sure how the woman would feel about hearing of something like what just happened. It wasn't their fault with what just happened, the blonde was only asking a question, she didn't even think she'd sounded rude when she asked. It was just a simple question of why they had to. But with both Professors present and not knowing how they'd really react, she wasn't sure if she should continue talking, even if the man said to excuse them, sometimes she didn't like to stop talking.
When Drew explained what the Professor did after she left, Felicity's eyes widened. He threw a book? But as Drew was there, obviously it wasn't thrown at anyone. It was just thrown, that was it. Otherwise Drew wouldn't be there with her, he'd either be in the class still doing what he had to, or he'd be with the student the book hit. No, the book didn't touch anyone, it was just thrown.
But before Felicity had a chance to say something, she heard a familiar voice and turned to look at the entering Slytherin. Connor was there? A slight smile crossed her face as she waited for Celina to pop out from behind him. If Connor was there, surely he knew that Celina wouldn't just leave the class on her own. It wasn't in Celina, Felicity even knew that without having to have the Ravenclaw tell her. Besides, Celina had often told the blonde about how she needed the grades in classes and couldn't miss a class or anything like that.
But where in the world was she. Was she being polite and waiting by the door for the Professors to tell her she could enter? A moment longer...where was she. Felicity didn't want to panic, but where was her best friend?
Another moment...
"Connor...where's Celina?" Big honey-brown eyes turned upward to look at the boy, there was no way he'd left her alone in that classroom, was there?
