"And because you're in the house represented by a reptile... this is why you fancy yourself better than house elves?" Allegra asked innocently. "Or is it some other commonality you have with the unchanging, small minded creatures that were here for billions of years?"

He did consider himself better than house elves but not for the reason she thought, if he was placed in any other of the houses he would have still thought the same about the creatures.
"They've found a system that promotes their continuing survival." Devlin returned. "If you ask me any creature that can guarantee its own survival isn't small minded, they use their natural advantages and for that they are pushed to the top."

"By that reasoning, every creature on the planet would be at the top," Allegra answered. "Evolution... survival of the fittest and all. Even House elves have have used their talents to gain advantages in this world, guarenteeing thier survival just as much as humans."

"And what advantage do house elves have?" Finally a turning point. "They use their talents to work for witches and wizards, food and shelter are provided for the small creatures that would probably not make it on their own and in turn they provide services for us. Like taking my things to the slytherin common room."

"Not make it on their own?" Allegra asked, giving a short laugh. At first she thought the pure-blood supremist attitude had been from what her grandmother liked to call 'new money', but Allegra was starting to think it was coming from what was more commonly known as 'no money.' Not that there was anything wrong with that of course, but the boy was speaking out of his butt if he though House Elves were that helpless.
"So you even KNOW any house elves?" she asked. She had seen her grandfather's house elf flatten a full grown wizard who yelled at the older Thornton.

Arianna grinned to herself. She was glad to have Allegra here to back her.
"From the looks of it, I'm betting.....no," she commented lazily.

They had got him, this was actually the first time he had even seen a house elf outside of pictures. They looked even more frail than they did in the picture, tiny arms as thin as the twigs you could find in the park. He didn't think that he had given that away by the way he acted but some how they seemed to know he didn't come from a very wealth family.
"Excuse me little one, come here a minute." He said to one of the elves. "Please." He added in as one of them looked up. "I'm Devlin Siegel." He said as he shook the small elf's arm.
I almost broke his hand just shaking it. He thought as his grip wrapped onto the hand.
"Yes I know one." He said as he turned back to his 'fan club'.

"You've met one," Allegra corrected, glad to see the boy was at least attempting to see their point of view on the matter. True, it may have been all an act, but it seemed pretty genuine. "You can't KNOW a House Elf until you try and arm wrestle one..."
This, she laughed at. House elves always cheated.

The confusion on his face was quite obvious. The picture he had in his mind was him hurling the little creature just by applying a normal amount of muscle.
"These little things arm wrestle? They must have high pain tolerance."

"Probably not any more than any other creature," Allegra answered. "It's hard to tell. The better ones usually make a good show of it at first, but eventually, they always let you win."
Playing unfairly to lose was just as bad as playing unfairly to win in Allegra's book.

"Really?" Devlin probably was walking right into a trap but he was too curious to care. He laid on his stomach and placed his elbow on the floor and held out his hand to challenge the small elf. (I want to see how you think they cheat so if you'd like to rp for the elf... ![:))](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cheesy.png)

{I consider letting the other person win cheating as well. You get what you want unfairly, right?}
Allegra wasn't quite sure why the House elves had stuck around so long. They rarely were even seen and were usually too busy to dawdle, but still, she shrugged at one who approached the boy on the floor.
"Please... at least make it look good before you let him win, okay?" she told the creature.
"Look good! Yes, miss! Riggle will make it look good for Miss!" the House elf chirped back. He proceeded to do a funny little dance, twirling a few times, waving his arms about, and tapping his feet before taking the Slytherin's comparitively massive hand in his own. "Did that look good for miss and mister?"

"It looked good for me," Arianna replied, smiling at the small elf. The creatures were odd little things, but always good at cheering you up, whether they did it on purpose or not. "Now show us what else you got."

(I guess we have different views on cheating)
Not only was Devlin confident that he had this match in the bag but when one of the ravens mentioned that he was going to win by default he was actually offended, though the dance was slightly entertainning.
"There's no point if he's just going to run with his tail between his legs." If this was the only way to know one it would be better not knowing one at all Devlin decided as he jumped to his feet.

(Sorry I have to crash!)
Reina was walking up the stairs from her commonroom to sneak some food when she saw somthing that almost made her choke on her own spit.
"What the - is going on? Are you playing with an elf? A creature that should be doing work instead of playing around?"
Reina twirled to look at Arianna, then Allegra, then her eyes landed on Michael.
"Oh I should have known. Your idea huh Mikey. Little elves are working too hard and you had to help them wind down right." Reina walked over and gave some new kid a little kick. "Get up you git, and let the elf get back to his work. By and by ELF since you have time to play you also have time to grab those bags and take them to whatever house they go to."
