Riley Haine, age fifteen, and fresh new to this school entered through the large doors. Never had he been to Scotland, or a British schooling system. His entire educated life, pure Irish school, whether muggle or magic. He hated having to start over at a new school, but it was a new experience so he should make the most of it.
Cat in his arms, he looked around. Moushi wiggled and jiggled until she freed herself from Riley's arms. He watched carefully, almost scoping her back up but didn't. She had the right to wander.
Looking around, he wandered who was here and what was supposed to do or where to go.
((Oh so very much open))

Once more escaping from her duties as a student - aka studying- Penelope was ready and set to take a stroll outside and then...who knows?
Out of her school uniform, wearing a pale blue dress and matching flip flops, her hair hanging freely and a wide smile displaying on her face the seventeen year old girl emerged from the stairs that leaded to the dungeons.
It wasn't long till her eyes posed itself on the figure of a boy that wasn't standing far from the entrance. Actually he had the disconcerted aspect of all the students that had just gotten to Hogwarts had. Deciding to be useful, since she was in a very good mood, she walked towards him.
"New?" she asked, without any previous chit chatting, before kneeling down to try to stroke the cat.

Riley looked towards the girl who had spoken to him, or so he assumed since she looked from him and his cat. Moushi was farely outgoing and liked new people. She favored girls over boys, though she loved Riley.
She was very blunt in the start of a conversation. Taken a bit back, he stuttered shortly,
"Erm, yeah. I just transfered here from my school in Ireland," he said. There was no hint of an irish accent. He'd developed both an Irish and British one, but went with the flow of it all which was British.

At the mention of 'accent' Penelope realized she probably should have added in her first post in the thread that she, in fact, has an accent. That of a person who's native tongue is spanish. ( ) "Well, in that case, Welcome to Hogwarts!" she said looking up at him with a radiant smile. "Which year and house?" she continued with her questions, alternating her attention between the cat and the boy. "By the way, I'm Penelope."

Riley grinned and loosed up slightly when the girl seemed to have a softer tone, or more friendly. When the writer read the first post, Riley was scared that she might be in a bad mood despite what the Penelope's writer had written.
"Thank you very much," he said. She's very pretty, he noticed immediately. Even ignoring her own accent, there was something about this girl that gave her a hispanic look. Maybe it was her darker themed appearence, but maybe not.
"I'm in Gryffindor, I do believe," he replied, thinking back. "And I'm a fifth year." Riley paused, she introduced herself as Penelope. " Nice to meet you Penelope, the name's Riley," she introduced his own self. "How about yourself, house and year?"

"Nice to meet you too," she said still keeping the smile on her face. "I'm in Slytherin and am a sixth year student." Penelope stood up and stretched her hand out to the boy, as an offer for a handshake, "Just to make the introduction official," she said along with a wink. {lame post....meh...sorry }

((Eh, it's okay.))
Riley wasn't prejudice, far from it. But he always thought Slytherin to by sly and ruthless, but this one seemed pretty nice. Sure, he'd known her for about five minutes at the most, but she seemed very nice.
Riley took her hand and shook it, leaving a short silence. He broke it soon, hating awkward silences.
"So, what is there to do around here?"

After retreating her hand she shrugged lightly. "That would pretty much depend on who here you ask and if this person shares what you consider something 'to do around'," she replied being a tad bit of a smart arse, though not intentionally. "Since you asked me... I'd say swimming in the lake whenever the weather outside allows it and spending as much time as possible out of the castle walls. Though when you are new exploring the insides of the building can be fun. You never know what you might find after turning around the next corner."

Riley watched her for a moment. He was naturally an indoor person, unless he'd been out with his sister. Instead of being inside, he'd love to ride brooms over the lake. He'd always had. He went under the water once, and he wasn't to well experienced, and it probably wasn't the smartest move. He wasn't sure if it was that they broom couldn't go under water or if it was just because of his age. Though, he never tired it again.
"I see," he said simply. He was more of an indoor person, but he didn't really want to go on a tour of the building quite yet. It screamed kiss-up, which he hated. He'd prefer to go in his own time. "Were you heading out just now?" he asked, looking at her clothes.

"Yeap," Penelope replied cheerfully. "I'm escaping from my textbooks."
Not about to start an endless monologue, of how tired she was of studying and catching up and whatnot, the girl decided to shift the focus back on the boy.
"Did anyone told you how to get to your common room, the password to enter and all that kind of stuff?" she asked curiously. "Cause if no one did it I can only help you with one of those things. This assuming you want to get to your common room, of course."

Riley nodded, when she mentioned a break from her textbooks. He understood that. Though Riley was good at school, he never enjoyed doing it, most of it, anyway.
"Yeah, I got a letter. They told me where my common room was and the password. So I'm good. If you want, you can go on ahead. I can get settled in and you can go outside. I don't really mind," offered Riley.

"I can go if you want me to go," she said raising an eyebrow and perhaps using a bit too harsh tone when she said that.
Penelope just couldn't help it. Maybe it was just her but the whole boy's reply had sounded to her as if he hardly couldn't wait for the moment she left. That, of course, wasn't a thing she liked. Specially cause she had been nice till then and there was no reason for why someone would want to get rid of her... at least she couldn't think of a good reason.

Charlotte rounded the corner to find two students that looked about her age. She had no idea where she was headed, no who she would encounter. She just felt like exploring her new school, and now seemed like the perfect time. She eyed the boy carefully, then she turned to glance at the girl, she had no idea what houses they were from. Aha. Well that helped. Maybe they could point her somewhere interesting. She had to make contact with other students eventually at this new school, so why not now?
Stopping so as not to completely interupt their conversation, she approached the duo slowly. "Hello" she said timidly.

Riley didn't know what to say. He hadn't meant to be rude or to give the impression he didn't want her around or to talk to her. On the contrary, he liked talking to her. It had been to his nature to not to want to talk to newer students and/or babysit them, when he was at his old school.
"Sorry, didn't mean it that way," he said quickly. Then another girl came up. She said but one word and Riley could tell she was shy, just by the way she said it. He thought it a bit rude to barge in on a conversation, but he'd done it before. He gave the girl a quick grin,
"Hello," he said simply.

The opportunity of saying something else to Riley was taken away from Penelope when another girl showed up and greeted them.
Having no reason to not be nice to her she turned her head to in the direction of the brunette. "Hello there," she said returning the greeting. "I'm Penelope and this is Riley."
The older girl didn't hesitated for a moment at introducing both. Penelope knew for a fact that she didn't knew the girl and she obviously couldn't know the gryffindor as he had just got there.
