((Closed Tallulah!))
December 28th 7:15pm
December 25th had come and gone. The celebrations passed and some presents had been opened by various people. But Dante did not really care about all of that. Instead, he cared that it was a bit warmer all of today, nice enough that he spent most of the day in the courtyard tuning and playing his guitar. It was not warm enough to melt the snow, but it had to have been pretty close. There was no wind, which was both odd and somewhat upsetting. A light breeze would be welcome, just something to crisp the air. The weather had started to cool down, the sun had gone down a while ago, maybe two hours. He did not intend to keep track of the time, it was a day to relax after all. And he was feeling much better since his trip to the Hospital Wing, not perfect, but better none the less. He felt somewhat like a fool for being so mad at Al for getting everyone sick.
Sighing and looking toward the crescent moon that shown between the low hanging clouds he wondered what his family was doing right now. Probably preparing for the new year that was approaching fast. Then there was La Festa dell'Epifania coming up in January. He strummed on his guitar again, the cold strings let out a cord with one string clearly out of key. He went back staring at the guitar and began tuning it yet again.
Twisting the tuning peg and hitting the chord again, it was getting closer to tuned. As he continued to tune it however the strain mixed with the cold caused the D string snapped. “Again?” Dante muttered as he picked up the two parts placing them close together. It was not something that surprised him any more, as they snapped more often in the cold. “Reparo” he held his hand over the strings as he spoke the incantation. Removing his hand he was happy to see that the string was again in one piece. The strings were getting old, and they fell apart more often. His hands were getting raw from playing, it had been a long time since he had played his fathers guitar, and he was not that good at it any more. So perhaps it was time for a break.
Putting the guitar down for a moment he checked how many snowballs he had left sitting next to him. As he had been sitting outside most of the day he had expected someone would want to have a snowball fight, yet no one had come. So the twenty snowballs had been thrown in various directions attempting to reach a wall, or the fountain. He was down to twelve snowballs that were prepared. Grabbing one in his glove he threw it high into the air to let it fall somewhere in front of him. It was tough to throw on such an angle while sitting down, so it did not go as high as it could have. Removing his glove to let the cool snow to melt slightly in his hand, this time it would go much higher. He stood up with a second snowball in hand, throwing it up as high as he could, and sure enough it went remarkably high. As he watched it fall back to the ground Dante laid back down next to his guitar. Allowing the hood of his coat to act as a pillow, his focus moved back to the sky, straining to see if any stars were out yet tonight.

This year had been good to Talullah. Since she couldn't see her parents for Christmas (she might think that is the best present of all) they sent her double what she would have gotten. Clothing, money, and other things she really didn't need that much while being at school. She brought a good amount of money with her already, she had most of her wardrobe here also. What else did she need? Her favorite present was from the family butler. He sent her a pure white kitten with a pink bow around its neck. Tallulah had always wanted a kitten but her parents never got around to getting her one. When she opened the box with the little holes in it she couldn't believe her luck.
It had been three days since and each one had been lovely in its own way. Each day she got up and played with her new kitten, now named Frosting. After that she'd walk around the castle, her little kitten following her around everywhere. She had gotten many people coming up to her oohing and ahhing about the kitten. This is something Tallulah liked very much.
Today Tal decided to go outside and play around in the snow. She left her kitten in her dorm room to sleep and have some fun exploring on her own. Tal got dressed fast, wanting to get outside already. She threw on a pair of thick pants, a long sleeved shirt, a warm sweater, some boots, and to top the outfit off she put on her new gray trench coat. She saw the coat last time she was in Diagon Alley and just had to have it. The inside lining is a dark green, quite like house color.
Tallulah raced out of her dorm and up the stairs toward the Courtyard. As she burst through the doors a light laugh escaped from her lips. She was so happy to be outside, away from the sickness within the castle.
Her eyes went up to the sky, taking in the night. If you looked to the east you could almost see glimmers of the sun that had already set. With a smile she walked out more, away from the courtyard. As she walked her mind started to wander, thinking about everything that was going on in her life. Everything seemed so perfect, almost too good. She was worried that her parents would come to Hogwarts as well and take her away, sending her to another school. She didn't want that.
As she became slightly worried something broke her concentration. A huge snowball fell right in front of her, splashing snow upon her boots. Her eyes went from the ground to the figure a few yards away from her. She stalked over, she was quite angry. As she got closer the person on the ground looked familiar. Her anger subsided when she figured out who the mystery thrower was.
She walked around him, looking at him. With a smirk she spoke quietly, "You know you should look where you throw snowballs. Next time you might hit someone." her eyes glowed with playfulness. She had wanted to see Dante again after their little meeting in the Potions classroom.

There were a few stars that the overcast clouds let shine through. But his focus was distracted by the thump of the last snowball finally hitting the ground. It was pretty loud. Then something unexpected happen, as Dante heard footsteps coming toward him. Whoever it was, he wondered how close that snowball hit to them, or if they even noticed it. He was to comfortable to sit up and look at the person, they would make their existence there known soon enough.
“You know you should look where you throw snowballs. Next time you might hit someone.” He recognized the voice, and once his eyes found the smiling face above him he knew the name that went with it. “I'm so sorry I missed Tallulah, but you're right, perhaps next time I'll be sure to aim better.” From what he knew of this girl so far she did not seem to be the kind that would mind a good snowball fight. After all, she helped in the potion room, so he knew she was fun.
With that he sat up and grabbed a handful of snow and turned it into a snowball quickly. As he sat up the green wool hat he was wearing slipped off his head falling to the snow. He then hopped to his feet, starting facing away from the girl he spun quickly throwing the snowball at her gray overcoat. As he did though the snowball disintegrated in the air before reaching it's target, clearly he had not packed it well enough. If he had grabbed one of his spare snowballs it would have made it to the mark. “Happy Holidays Doll” he laughed with a mischievous smile as he prepared for a snowball that might be headed back at him. Quickly zipping up his blue winter coat, “how have you been lately?” As he asked the question he reached down to pick up the hat that had fallen off his head.

“I'm so sorry I missed Tallulah, but you're right, perhaps next time I'll be sure to aim better.”
His voice was sweet as he answered her. It made her smile grow a bit. She took a few steps back, looking around at the scenery. Thw snow was lighty anf puffy, like confectioners sugar. She kicked her feet around in it, the snow sticking to the hem of her trench coat.
"Oh well thank you for that. I'll be sure to watch out!" She grinned at Dante. He jumped up and she didn't see him pack a snowball. As he turned to face her he threw the snowball at her. She ducked, covering her head. She felt a sprinkle of snow fall upon her hands and head. Looking up she glanced at Dante. She shook the snow off her head and grinned at him. "Your aim is good, but your packing isn't!"
“Happy Holidays Doll”
This brought another smile to her face. She took a step forward, closing the space between then. "Happy Holidays to you, Love." Tal gave him a wink and a perfect white smile. He was very much like her. He was just as cheeky as she was. She reached down to the snow, grabbing a handful. Packing it quickly she threw it at Dante, hoping it would hit her target. "Oh, My Holiday? It's going well. I got a kitten from my butler!" Frosting was her pride and joy now. "How is yours going?"

He was to distracted by putting his hat back on to dodge the oncoming snowball and so it hit him directly in the chest. Though in all honesty he would likely have let it hit him anyway, even if it could have been dodged. It was a pretty good shot, and thanks to his coat the remnants slid off and to the ground. “A kitten huh? Sounds like fun, I assume it's got a name?” He was having a lot of fun all of a sudden so the smile was hard to take off his face.
She said she has a butler? Must be a wealthier family. Dante wondered what it would be like to have a butler of his own, he assumed they would be more a friend that you paid to do work for you than anything else. At that point Dante bent down and grabbed one of the snowballs he had made before, throwing it toward the girl. As he always did in snowball fights he made sure to not aim for a face, especially one with such a smile on it.
"How is yours going?” “My week has been going better, now that I'm getting over Dragon Pox.” Which was true, ever since he went to the medical wing he was feeling much better. “I guess I should listen to you more often when you warn me to go to the Medical Wing huh?” He smiled, his eyes closed and his cheeks turning a little red, somewhat embarrassed to admit that he hadn't listened to the girl's warning. “But mostly I'm looking forward to La Festa dell'Epifania!”
As he spoke up about the festival that was still to come he took both hands and scooped up a large amount of snow. Taking a step forward he threw all of it in the air. The snow fell back to the ground slowly, almost like falling snow reflecting with the moon. It was a great effect, although unintended.

Tallulah laughed, her shot hit him in the chest! Her smile was bright and full of life. She started to jump around, like some weird victory dance. Tal noticed what she was doing and looked at Dante sheepishly. That outburst wasn't something she would do a lot. He spoke about her new kitty. She nodded, taking a step forward. "Yes, her name is Frosting. She's this beautiful white kitten. Bryce, the house butler picked her out. I've always wanted a kitten."
He then threw a snowball at her. Tallulah, still thinking about her kitten didn't notice this and was hit square in the shoulder. The impact and splatter of snow ripped her from her thoughts. A squeak of laughter came from her a she grabbed another handful of snow and started to pack it with her hands. Once it was perfect she threw it towards Dante, hoping for another chest shot.
She nodded as he told her he was feeling better. This was a relief. The last time they spoke he looked quite bad. She laughed quietly as he said he should have listened to her. She took a step closer, shortening the distance between the two of them. "Yes, you should have! But you are looking much better now." He looked much, much better. Not that he didn't look good last time, he looked good in a slightly sick way.
Then Dante spoke of some Italian word, it sounded like a holiday to her. She nodded, wanting to hear more about it. "What do you do..on that day I mean? Is it like a festival? Italians have the best festivals. I went to Carnival once. I want to go back very bad." She remembered the dress she wore, hoping it was still at her home, snug in her closet.
Tallulah looked up and snow started to fall again, but only after it stopped falling did she notice Dante had thrown the snow into the air. She copied him, throwing her arms up she watched it fall, landing in her hair and on her face, making it look like she was covered in sparkles.

Dante watched the girl dance around after hitting him with her snowball and smiled at how happy it seemed to make her. He smirked at her when she realized he was watching her dance around, it was cute. At her next throw Dante tried to dodge the snowball, turning to the side. But his attempt only made the snowball hit him in the upper right arm, just below the shoulder. His reaction time was impeded by both how close the two were, and still being a little ill.
He watched her take another step forward as the space between them got smaller, now she was well within arms reach. She was to close to throw another snowball at, but that was okay. He smiled as she told him he was looking better, though he still did not think that when they last saw each other he was very sick.
"What do you do..on that day I mean? Is it like a festival? Italians have the best festivals. I went to Carnival once. I want to go back very bad." Right Dante, no one here knows your Italian gibberish, he thought to himself. “La Festa dell'Epifania, the celebration of the epiphany.” He threw another batch of snow into the air. “It is the time kids in Italy get their presents from La Befana or the Christmas Witch. She is like Santa in Italian legends, giving gifts to kids who are good. It is also a celebration of the end of the Christmas season, there is usually a feast of fish dishes.” He frowned a little thinking about the rest of his family celebrating without him. “Not that they celebrate such things around here. Which is why I was so upset to be stuck here rather than go home.”
Rather than be mopey though Dante looked back up at Tallulah, watching as she let the snow fall back down onto her hair and face and a smirk was back onto the boys face. He continued to scoop up the snow around them and toss it into the air, making their own winter storm for a while. He looked up and marveled at the snow in the air. It fell almost as though it was coming from the clouds above. He stopped to rest his arms from throwing all the snow in the air and admire the scene “seems we're making our own snowstorm.”

She whooped quietly again as her snowball hit Dante. She liked doing this, snowball fighting. Her parents would frown upon her doing such childish things. They expect her to be a lady in every way possible. She was happy that she was stuck at Hogwarts for Christmas. Her parents were no where in sight and she was free to do what she wanted.
Tallulah's lips curled into a smile as Dante told her about the holiday they celebrated in Italy. It sounded wondrous. She didn't want to interrupt him as he went on about what they did. It all sounded like a grand party. She finally spoke up, saying, "That sounds splendid. I would love to see that one day."
She then recognized the hint of sadness in his voice when he spoke about the holiday. After a few second she put two and two together. He's sad because he can't spend his holiday with his family! Her eyes went to his, showing her understanding. She took a few more steps in, now standing next to him. "If you want we could try to recreate the holiday here. I mean, the Room of Requirement is well equipped for such events like this."
He grabbed another armful of snow and threw it into the air, making it 'snow' even more. She loved the feeling of the cold snow on her cheeks. It melted, making it look like she was crying. She looked up into the night sky, looking at the stars that tried to peek through the clouds. She barely heard that Dante said, but she nodded. "Yes, we're making our own snowstorm."

“We could try to recreate it” he was happy she seemed understand how it bothered him. “But if you wanted to have another snowball fight that day instead, that would be just as fine with me.” Spending time with people on the holiday was the most important part to Dante. If they held some of the traditions that was fine. Having a fun time was good enough for him, and would keep his mind off what his family would be doing.
She had planted herself right next to him. He gave a big grin, from here he could drop some snow on her head, perhaps try to get it to go down the back of her coat. But that might be to evil for the time being. She was being to nice for such acts. She looked so focused on the sky, he wondered what she could be thinking about. “But I thank you for the offer” still grinning he gave her a quick hug in appreciation of her offer to help recreate the day. She was warm to the touch despite the colder temperatures around them. It was a nicer gesture than dumping snow on her to be sure.
He threw one more pile of snow into the air. Recovering from Dragon Pox had Dante getting tired rather quickly. After hurling the last snow to the air rather than bring his arms back to his sides he held them out parallel to the ground. He then, staying as still as he could, tilted and fell backward. The loud thump of the landing was mostly the sound of shifting snow below him. What was left of the snow below him made the landing smooth. Laying face up in the snow he shifted around so he could look face to face at Tallulah. He kept close to her, making sure to not make it appear that he was trying to increase the distance between them.
“Have you ever made a snow angel, doll?” He closed his eyes as the last bits of snow fell onto them and began to wave his arms and legs, making the snow angel. Not sure how it would come out with all the snow they had been throwing around. With the snow melting on her face it was made to look like she was crying, and in staring in the sky she seemed distracted by something. “Thinking about something?”

She giggled as he put the idea of another snowball fight. She shrugged, thinking about it. Another snowball fight could be a lot of fun. Especially if it was against Dante. She was really starting to like him. He wasn't like other boys who just stood there and drooled at her. He wanted hang out. This brought another smile to her face.
"You're on! Snowball fight here." Her eyes were alight with cheer. "This will be a good game." She was very excited to challenge him in a snowball fight but what was more exciting was the fact that the two of them could spend more time together. She liked his company. She didn't need to alter her personality or anything about herself. She could be herself.
Dante did something that surprised Tallulah. He hugged her. Though the hug was quick it was very nice. Dante was warm to the touch. She could feel her cheeks flush a little from this sudden hug. When they broke apart she looked away, embarrassed. "Anytime." That was all she could speak.
She regained her composure and looked back up to Dante only to see him sprawled out on the ground. She didn't move from her spot. He was moving his arms and his legs, making a snow angel. She grinned down at the older boy, watching him. She then plopped herself down onto the ground, making an angel of her own. "Well I am now!" Her laugh was loud (but not too loud) and very clear. She hadn't had this much fun in ages.
"And yes, I'm fine. I'm actually happy I'm here instead of home. My parents would have already sent me to ten different parties hoping that I'll find a husband." She couldn't mask the sadness that encased her words. She shook her head, thinking is better thoughts. "But I'm here and away from my parents."

Putting the final few waves into his snow angel he stayed laying on the ground. “Ten parties? That's crazy” he figured from her voice the rest of the topic was not something she would want to discuss. But he wanted her to know he understood where she was coming from, “sounds like your parents are really overbearing, I can relate with that.”And it was true he understood that much, maybe not to the extent of being forced to go to parties in search of a husband, or wife.
"But I'm here and away from my parents." Her second comment brought him back from the train of thought and he smiled.“It's good you understand where you are,” sitting up letting out a laugh. “It's a sign that you're not completely insane.” He hastily made and threw yet another snowball at her while she made her snow angel. Sticking out his tongue through his smile to taunt the girl about the snowball. “So aside from dodging snowballs and playing with your kitty cat what do you do for fun around this joint?” He laid back down into his angel with his arms behind his head as a pillow.
“Not that there is ever much fun around here,” He looked up at the sky “unless you make it yourself.” There was nothing interesting in the sky, the same stars that were up there earlier. The moon had finally come out from behind a cloud and was shining brightly down into the courtyard. So he turned his head over to Tallulah and watched her making the snow angel, she really seemed to be having a lot of fun. And truth be told he was having an absolute blast.

"Ten parties! No lie. All my parents want me to do is marry a pure-blooded rich man who can take care of me and keep me quiet." Her voice had no emotion in it. She felt dead when she spoke about her parents intentions. "I mean, I guess they're doing it for my good but I want to have a say." She moved her arms and legs, still making her snow angel.
“It's a sign that you're not completely insane.”
She giggled at his comment. "Well thank you. I'm happy to hear someone else say I'm not entirely insane." She turned her head to look over at Dante. She could vaguely see a smile on his lips. She turned her head back, chanting in her mind that it was not polite to stare. She sighed, breathing out quietly. You could see her breath in the night air.
The snowball he threw hit her square in the stomach, making her groan. She rubbed her stomach, sticking her tongue out at him. "Ow!" She wasn't in pain, just the sudden hit made her jump. She grabbed a handful of snow and threw it over at Dante. The snow didn't hit him, only fall onto him.
She thought about what she did here besides snowball fights. "Erm, well...I usually don't do much. I'm not one to talk to people." She shrugged, turning to Dante again. "Emeric, he's another Slytherin boy. I usually talk to him. We're very much alike. I hide a lot while I'm here. There is this Gryffindor who has the biggest crush on me and he tries to follow me everywhere." Tal nodded as she said this. "He's not suave at all."
Even though she was telling herself not to stare she couldn't help it. The boy was quite dashing in her eyes and he didn't treat her like a piece of glass. She nodded as she spoke about there being nothing to do in this school unless you did it. "At my old school it was worse. No one did anything! We were so boring. I spent most of my time there in the library."

He could understand not talking to many people. In this, his sixth year at the school he was finally starting to meet many of the people and befriend them. He did not know this Emeric kid, but from her quick description he sounded alright. He began to laugh when he heard about the Gryffindor with a crush. “The day a Gryffindor is suave is the day I will eat this hat” Dante could not help but laugh as he mocked the house. Perhaps he laughed a bit to much at that one, but it was pretty funny in his mind. In all actuality he did not have anything against the house, he had several friends there, Felicity for one.
He could just barely see her breath in the air, had it really gotten that cold outside? He had not even noticed that it was getting back to the usual temperatures for the time, much less his own breath in front of him. He inhaled deeply, letting the cold air hit the bottom of his lungs. And then blew his breath straight out of his mouth to form a chimney, or a smokestack. With steam billowing out of his mouth.
He took a quick glance over at the girl only to see that she seemed to be staring at him. He looked back away, face turning a bit red as he realized she was looking at him. His thoughts went to the dark eyes. She was cute, he admitted to himself, and wasn't afraid to goof off. Most girls he knew would not be so inclined to behave like this.
He went back to looking at the sky, but this time, he closed his eyes and just listened. He listened to the snow shift as the lay on it, to the water in the fountain that had unfrozen in the day's heat. To the girls voice, it was unique, hard to define, but in adding it to the other sounds of the winter night it fit. She talked about her old school and spending time in the library. “It sounds really boring if the best place to hide was a library.” He wondered if he could stand to go to such a school. And deep in his thoughts he continued to listen to all the sounds around him opening his eyes just to see his breath.

Tallulah giggled quite loudly at his comment about the Gryffindors. She knew it wasn't really true, but the thought was quite funny. She glanced back over to him, still smiling. "You're quite funny you know?" He did make her laugh al lot during their time outside. She usually didn't laugh that much. People weren't that funny to her. But he was.
He caught her staring. She couldn't believe that happened. She was always a step ahead of people when it came to things like this but he caught her. She turned away, her cheeks flushing. She knew he blushed too, which made her feel a little better as he was as surprised as she was.
Her arms started to get tired from making the snow angel. She stopped, her arms extended above her head. Her smile didn't fade away, but only got bigger. The night was so beautiful. The sky was a mixture of clouds and clear. She couldn't ask for a better night to be outside with someone she enjoyed spending time with.
She glanced over at him when he commented about her old school. "Yeah, it was very boring. There were so many rules about buys and girls and everything in between. I couldn't stand it there. We couldn't even date!" She knew this sounded quite weird but it was true. At Beauxbaton students were told not to date, but people got away with it. Tallulah being one of them. "I'm so happy I came here."
She glanced at him again, but only for a second. She didn't want him to catch her staring again. Her eyes went back to the sky. She told Dante about herself, but she had heard nothing about him. With another quick glance she thought of something to ask. "So, did you come here in your first year or transfer like I did?"

Funny? Yeah sure, he could live with being funny. He continued to listen to the sounds around them as she explained the rules from her old school. “No dating, that sounds pretty harsh,” he wondered how a school could really regulate those kinds of things. But he supposed it was possible, schools usually liked to create silly meaningless rules after all.
Then she asked Dante the question about his past. It was one of his least favorite topics, but the question was simple enough that he could get a quick answer and be done with it. “Naw, I didn't transfer here. My family moved to Manchester just before starting here at Hogwarts, about six years ago. So I only had the transition from muggle school before that.”
He continued looking up at the sky as he told her the rest of his story. “Originally though, I lived in Milan, Italy, and I still enjoy going back and visiting my grandmother there every so often.” He looked over to the girl who had apparently stopped staring at him and focused more at the sky. “My parents wanted me to go to the same school my Grandfather went to, as he was the last wizard in the family.” He smiled thinking about his Grandfather, still a roll model to Dante, even after his passing. “He was a pretty good wizard, even gave me his wand, a magic tat-”
He stopped quickly as he realized just how much information he was giving. To him, it was more than enough, perhaps to much in his mind. It just was not something he did naturally, talk about himself. And it was rather uncomfortable for Dante to do. As it stood he had given more information than he normally did, he couldn't believe he was talking about his Grandfather. This girl had been able to get him to open up more than he normally would; with such a simple question no less. It was strange.
He sat up from his snow angel and looked at the girl sprawled out in the snow. “Sorry,” he planted his arms behind him holding his body weight in his new upright position, “I lost my train of thought.” Smiling, just a little uncomfortably, he hoped that wouldn't deter the girl from continuing their conversation. He took one of the pre-made snowballs that were sitting close to him and threw it toward the girl. Aiming to intentionally miss. “You fight a pretty good snowball fight ya know that? Train by throwing snow at any siblings?”
