Kellen was late, but in truth, he hadn't been sure he'd be able to make it at all. After all, he'd only gotten back to the UK from Prague the day before and until a week ago even that date hadn't been confirmed.
He'd sent a somewhat rushed owl to Beni explaining that he would be able to make it to Hogwarts on time for her wedding reception though not for the ceremony itself. He'd spent the morning split between St. Mungo's and his parents' home, where he hadn't been since a quick Christmas holiday.
But there he was, and just in time to hear the bride and groom presented. He didn't want to interrupt this moment so he stayed mostly out of site in the back but clapped for the happy couple nonetheless.

The Head Boy had taken to watching the courtyard become decked out over the past couple of days. The rehersals -- if you could call each half of the wedding party showing up at different times a rehersal -- the fact that students were invited to attend an event that would no doubt go down in the next edition of Hogwarts: A History made him want to be able to say that hehad been there for it. The fact that Beni Hendrix was the bride of course only gave him a much greater reason than history to attend. The seventh year was decked out in a pair of black dress pants and a blazer befitting of Godric Gryffindor himself. Mind you, they weren't his, they were his father's and they were on loan so if anything happened to them over the next forty-eight hours or so there would be a dead wizard in Cawtin come summer. As the ceremony progressed and the moment of truth came closer and closer the seventh year couldn't help but notice the air becoming thinner and thinner with suspense and happiness. You couldn't see it, and you could still breathe right well, but you could feel it. You could feel it and it made you smile. Corey had to admit, it really was something else entirely. No church, no steeple, no doors or walls and yet all the beauty, love, merriment and pride you'd expect to see at a wedding was present, along with the friendly faces to provide it. The Gryffindor's eyes saw more than a handful of faces he didn't know and yet many unsurprisinly that he did -- Brittany, Allegra and Shay to start. It was as the boy turned his eyes behind him however that he saw (along with his predecessor in rank) a particular face that looked rightly familiar, in fact it looked completely familar, but... Nah. The seventh year shrugged it off as best as he could, which meant reluctantly leaving a small and outright annoying tugging at the back of his brain. He turned his eyes forward, admittedly ending up glancing back on more than one occasion but he only continued undecided in the matter. His eyes were however facing forward at the time for the ceremony that everyone was really there to see. Yes, the whole thing was rightly grand and irrfutably wonderful but it wasn't a wedding until the couple made it to, and through the vow ceremony, right? As the couple did their joyous thing and the applause droned over the Hogwarts grounds with the violin's couplet one would find that Corey's hands were steadily clapping along with the rest and a smile was immobile form his face. They would be sore by moment's end but it was pain well worth the effort in the long run. Without a doubt it was a right proud day to be a Gryffindor.

Deryn couldn't help but smile as she stood up there, next to a very good friend of hers as she listened to the ex-Gryffindor and the cute ex-Hufflepuff declare their love for each other and exchange rings. She smiled at the couple and looked out into the crowd to see who was there. Her eye was caught by a familiar Gryffindor boy standing in the back, hiding from everyone else. Deryn flashed a smile in Corey's direction, hoping he'd see it, but sure he wasn't paying attention. Looking back at the couple, the Gryffindor laughed at Beni's excitement, feeling it almost as much as she was.

Sitting where she was, last row, Rael could see many familiar faces, almost too many. However, there were still faces she did not know, faces so unfamiliar she had to wonder if many were those who the castle walls contained in younger years, all grown up. And while most of her attention were on the Bride and Groom finishing the ceremony after the new presentation of the couple to the world, or at least to a part of the world, her dark blue eyes flitted back and forth between backs of heads, profile portraits, the occasional turning face.
There was the old House Quidditch Captain, Brittany, it looked like the old Head Girl was up there too, and was that...? Rael wasn't sure, but it looked a bit like one of the girl's she hadn't gotten to know too well, but she was a Gryffindor and a year or two younger than she.
Of course, the crowd was filled with many more unfamiliar faces, a few spotted here and there she knew, but the brunette felt at a bit of a loss. Maybe most of those in attendance were family members? That thought put the former student at ease, she didn't want to believe that much time had lapsed. With so many different hairstyles that had come to age in the last year or so, it could very well have been that very reason for her not to recognize so many.
Though, there were quite a few faces that seemed so familiar, ones she couldn't quite put her finger on, and then those that left her at the greatest loss of memory. When one face kept turning back, she at first ignored the glances, believing the person to either be distracted by something happening outside the wedding area, or looking at another face, until something small clicked.
Wasn't he on the Quidditch team? And a Prefect to boot? Rael was sure of it...Cooooo....Corey! Corey, but what was his last name?
He'd always seemed nice enough, quiet, the way Rael usually preferred people, unless they were like the lovely bride, so bubbly they wouldn't have been the same person unless they talked and talked...and talked. Yes, Beni wouldn't have been the same otherwise.
But who was he casting looks at? Surely he didn't remember her? They'd only spoken on a few occasions, or maybe he remembered her as the girl that left the Quidditch team? What a horrid way to be remembered. Shifting uncomfortably, Rael tried to ignore the next few glances, adding her enthusiastic applause to that of others. Mr and Mrs Benjamin London. The name sounded so familiar, but he looked naught.
Well, time for the descent of the newest couple, and probably the most important newest couple, in both the wizarding and muggle world into a whole new life...together. Such a funny thought, almost a year out of school and someone she knew, would have left Hogwarts with, was marrying off? How time surely was flying.
But why was that boy still glancing back? Nerves found their way into her stomach and she began casting a few nervous glances about herself. There wasn't really anyone that looked too interesting around her, a few tears here and there, was that person sniveling? No, maybe he was easily distracted by butterflies or bumblebees or dust particles? Perhaps.

"Congratulations, you may now kiss the bride!"
Ben turned to his new wife and barely had time to before she leapt at him and kissed him hard. He smiled, kissing her back just as hard and wishing he could stay like that, in that moment, with his lips on hers forever. Eventually though, Ben pulled away from her and smiled so wide, his face could barely contain it. Ben looked at Beni with such love in his eyes and he couldn't look away. He kissed her again before looking out at the rest of the crowd.
"I love you so much," Ben leaned in and whispered to his wife, "Always and forever."

Beni smiled happily at her husband, whom she would gratefully take his surname and add it to her name (a reminder to keep her bonds strong between the family she's known forever and the family that she would begin). Her heart felt open and pleasant, and she could not find any reason for this day to be over.
Now that the ceremony was over.... it was time for the reception.
Nuzzling Ben's neck, she turned to the crowd. "STAY if you want a good ol' party!!" She laughed and as rehearsed before, she squeezed Ben's hand and headed down the aisle to disappear momentarily. The effect that would come was be a sensation, and she needed to make a great re-entrance.
It might have felt as though the ground was rising up, if only for an inch or two, but certainly the grass disappeared under transforming wood, allowing for a hard floor to take place. The number of fireflies intensified to a bright sparkle and soon a low buzzing indicated the fairies were hard at work, directing the lights and throwing up a glitter in the air. One could look at the glitter draw up to the sky for a moment, but it would only be a moment, for the sky hid itself with the marquee's new high tent ceiling.
The priest had bowed out of the stage and hopped off his box and to the side, so that a DJ could set himself up along with conjuring up a few basic instruments for a band, in which strangers not seen before could sit down at the set and tune their instruments. A voluptuous, heartily laughing hostess walked along with them, tapping her throat to amplify herself. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the reception! Now if you could direct your attention to the transfigurations. In one moment a few tables shall come together and you may find a seat where you like. First we will introduce our bridal party before serving the food."
It wouldn't take long for the food to appear. The culinary passions of the elves came to fruition with two very long tables on opposite ends of the marquee, popping up with delicious food hidden under covers. But what was unhidden was brought out-- a rosy cheeked lady-chef came out with her own creation, the wedding cake, in which bold colors of red and gold twisted into artsy designs came into display. She set it down, bowed and left, not before ordering in the attendants to come around with trays of hors d'œuvres.
"Thank you everyone. Now I would like you to be seated," said the hostess, confidently placing her hands on her hips. "Introducing the bridal party! Please give them the courtesy of a hearty applause! The three lovely bridesmaids and their partners...
"Brittany Garland accompanied by Juan de Vallarta! "Allegra Thornton, accompanied by Chadwick Embers! "and Deryn Morgan, accompanied by Lucas Smith!"
The writer couldn't say anything about the rest of the bridal party, but Juan beamed happily to be partnered by such a beautiful witch.
"The groom's parents could not come, unfortunately, but they wish the newlyweds the best," continued the lady, "However, here are the bride's lovely mothers! Ana Valentin and Sherylyn Hendrix!" The two had been hand in hand, and smiled triumphantly at the guests.
"Now... the bride and groom... the newlyweds... give them a round of applause... Benjamin and Benita London!"
With their anticipated entrance, a memorable song known mostly to Muggles came on. What was it? Well, it was God Only Knows by the Beach Boys.
I may not always love you But long as there are stars above you You never need to doubt it I'll make you so sure about it
God only knows what I'd be without you
If you should ever leave me Though life would still go on believe me The world could show nothing to me So what good would living do me
God only knows what I'd be without you
Give it a second, dear guests... food is coming up shortly.

Allegra was too giddy to even think of eating, just wanting to revel in the romance of the ceremony and the lavishness of the now forming reception.
She stood back, from the center of the courtyard as the floor came into being, squeezing Chad's hand and looking for faces she knew. Her brother was hard to miss, as was Hiro. She thought she saw Corey and that awful Alfonz. She'd have to try and warn Shay, who was flitting around taking photographs, when she had a chance.
Another face caught her eye and she did a double take, not sure she saw what she thought she saw. When she looked again, the view was gone, obscured by the large woman and the larger cake.
"That's us!" she whispered to Chad with a wide grin and a quick squeeze of his hand as they announced the wedding party. As she and Chad found their seats, the music started, and Allegra started cheering with the crowd. The Beach Boys! They made her miss home and she wanted to dance, but knew that the song was reserved for Mr. and Mrs. London.

All throughout the ceremony, and especially during the quiet moments, anyone could hear the soft clicking noise coming from Shay's camera. It had been the longest time that she was focused beyond her own awareness of herself. Often she had to rip herself from concentration or else she would most likely take down a decoration or trip a bridesmaid. But with everything being set up beautifully in their environment, and the emotions of the newlyweds-- not to mention those enchanting fairies!-- she found her frames quite appealing. Apart from the conventional posed pictures that she took, there had been some clear action shots as well as a few rousing simple pictures. She loved looking for that certain picture; it was a constant challenge.
As she had moved around carefully during the ceremony/reception transformation, she had photographed them as they disappeared for a second and was a bit astounded to see that face. Unbeknownst to her, she gasped. It was odd, seeing him after so long. There were picture of him circulating of course, but it didn't beat seeing the real thing. She stared at him at first through her camera, but then lowered it to just look at him. Predictably enough, her heart started pounding, and she felt really shy and so she hid behind her camera and occupied herself with taking any picture, no matter how good or bad. It was just a hard to think that she had seen Alfonz Jedynak again after three months.

Definitely overstaying the welcome that wasn’t given, he knew that it was time to take his leave.
The wedding environment turned into a well-lit reception area, and without noticing much more, Alfonz turned to walk toward the courtyard door back into the sanctuary of his office. The first door he came to in the hall of the ground floor would be his ticket of freedom, especially when now that the lights were more on and the shadows lessened, Alfonz found that there were no more places to hide.
Alfonz briefly glanced up at the positions of where both Shay and Raynor were, hoping that both would be evaded quite quickly, but it was then for the briefest of moments he caught not only that a camera was facing in his direction…but that Shay’s camera was facing in his direction.
It meant nothing, but as he turned away his body stopped him from fleeing for a few seconds and it seemed that all the sounds and blissful moments that were happening around him were gone as he sunk into his own darkened thoughts. If he talked to her, it would be away from any that could see him. He wouldn’t want the distractions…maybe he could tell her that every day since that day…
More ruckus was heard, and it snapped Alfonz back into his main course objective. He had to leave, and it had to be right then. One last glance back at Shay, he hesitated and then tried to throw a cocky smirk at her, which only became a genuinely saddened excuse for a smile. He wanted to be man enough to go over to her and...do something! as his heart would scream at him. But alas, his pride and mind forbid it. If she wanted anything to do with him, he could only secretly hope that she would come to him...
Either way, he had to leave. He couldn’t stand seeing the young woman he knew he couldn’t have, but still wanted just the same.

It just took one more look back at him to see his expression. It didn't look smug... but it didn't look warm-hearted, either. Now she couldn't remember. Such a fleeting moment noted her confusion towards him. Either way, her initial reaction was ridiculous and she raised an eyebrow at him before going at it with her camera again. His smile remained engrained in her mind and she absentmindedly took a close-up of absolute nothing-- she had gone in too close and out of focus on a tablecloth. She was supposed to be photographing the dancing but she had gone way past the target.
She sighed and waited a moment get the odd look off her face. It wasn't as if she were in the pictures, but she wasn't wanting to look this way at a successful wedding. If she was lucky, she could get a quick break before toasts came up.

Kellen had known, in the back of his mind, that Allegra would be at the wedding. Still he hadn't actually thought about seeing her and talking to her there--he'd had something of a plan. A casual owl, a planned meeting if they both wanted it. This was going to be very awkward. Especially since she seemed to be there with someone. Still, the ceremony had been beautiful and the reception seemed like it was going to be lots of fun. Kellen figured he could wait a bit before approaching Allegra. He put his gift on a table where they were seeming to accumulate. He'd gotten the couple a traditional Czech gift for wizarding weddings: a crystal bouquet charmed to bring good luck. He had no idea if it actually worked, but it seemed like a nice gesture nonetheless. Weddings had never been his strongpoint. He sat at his table for a while, watching the wedding party processional and first dance.

Brittany hadn't even noticed when she had started crying. The whole scene was pure bliss and happiness and she couldn't help the few tears that just rolled slowly down her cheeks. As the wedding processional came to an end she quickly wiped away the tear trails. Thankfully she had though ahead of time and worn water-proof make-up, knowing that she was a sucker for these kind of events. Smiling wide, she watched the newlyweds kiss and laughed as Beni announced that the party was beginning.
As the bridal party was announced, she walked to where she was supposed to be with Beni's brother by her side. Looking around she realized that there were many more people there than she had thought. Most of them she hadn't seen come in, too enraptured with the scene going on in front of her. Sitting down she watched her friend, Mrs. Benita London, and her new husband take the floor for their first dance. The song that played was familiar to her and she couldn't help but tap her foot along to the beat. It fit the couple so well and was definitely a song that you couldn't help smile when hearing it.
Listening to the lyrics, she trained her focus on the two sweeping across the dance floor. They looked so happy in each other's arms and she could do nothing but think of how great they were together. It was as if they fit perfectly and only by miracle had found each other at so young. The faint smile on Brittany's face seemed implanted there and her adorning eyes refused to leave them until the song had ended.

"Let's hear it for the newlywed couple!" bellowed the hostess when the Beach Boys ended their tune and some low, conversational music came on during some applause. "As you know, some of couple's relatives have a few words to say, but if you would like to toast the newlyweds, feel free to gather your glass and bring attention to the stage. For now though, I invite you all to buffet-style dinner provided by the elves of the Hogwarts castle. Let's hear it for the service!" The woman smiled gratefully and cleared her throat. "Now without further ado, the buffet is officially open. Thank you!"
She turned off the amplification from her wand and walked over to the couple. "I'll tell you when it comes time again," she said with a bit of a smile.
"Thank you, Katherine!" Beni squeezed the woman's hand in gratitude and let her on her way. She turned her attention to Ben and couldn't help but give him a big hug. "I don't want to leave you," she said through her embrace, "But you know-- bride always comes around the tables to thank the guests. Yadda yadda." She kissed him. "I'll be back."

Now with there being a huge lull in reception, Shay thought this to be the first break in a long time. She wasn't exhausted, but she was finding herself to feel more relaxed now, finding a quick excitement in wandering slightly outside the marquee and more towards the castle. It felt good to float back to the school, to transport herself to those good times that she remembered. Honestly, though, in her mind, she wanted to confront something she didn't have to.
The music slowly faded slightly as she moved away from it, and towards one of the entrances to the ground floor. If she wasn't mistaken, that's where Alfonz had been. Absolutely no use in her being around him, but somehow she wanted to go in spite of it all. She was convinced in her black fitted robes that she was looking good, and she almost wanted him to know it.
Looking around, she did her best to distract herself with maintaining and essentially fiddling with her camera. She didn't know if she wanted to be aware or oblivious.

She looked his way and for a brief instant, they both made eye contact. A warmth Alfonz never knew was boiling from underneath his chest, and it felt as if all of the ice he had built up so well around his heart was beginning to melt. Again this woman was going to be the death of him, especially if the two of them were seen here. Raynor could spot them and become nosey, or just the Thornton girl herself. All Alfonz needed was anyone to see…any one to hear.
As he went to go through the entrance to the ground floor and leave, his hand stopped and hovered over the handle. He needed to get out of there. Alfonz knew if he didn’t he might do something that he’d later regret. Stepping to the side, however, he found that he couldn’t yet leave. Not until he at least spoke to Shay…and at least had some kind of…was he really looking for closure?
Alfonz looked back to where she had stood and found that her face was yet again buried in the camera. It was the perfect time to walk up to her, and yet, he still found that he couldn’t do it. Too many people were around, too many that could see. Even Shays roommates would see in that area, and he really didn’t need to cause a scene with Brady, Raynor, and…were those aurors at the wedding? Yes, he decided to stay back.
Taking a few more steps to the side, he hid himself but not very well, still leaning up against the wall, arms crossed. There would be a moment he’d have time to speak with her he knew it. It just had to be the right moment, or all would fall apart and a scene would be made. So, looking like wallflower of sorts, he stood there with his usual grim expression on his face.
As he watched the dancing and the scene, he tried to analyze it, however, his mind was still on the one person it had been on as soon as he had seen her there at the wedding. It wasn’t easy to focus on anything else. The first song ended and his wandering eyes found their way back to where Shay had once been standing. She was no longer there in fact he swore that she was closer than she had been before. She was inching closer to the door in which he had planned to use to escape from the mayhem before him.
Was this the moment he had been hoping for…? Alfonz almost doubted it, but as he looked around, someone had moved in to talk to Allegra and overall, it looked as if he may actually have a chance to do it the way he wanted to do it. Lucky? Alfonz would only know in the few minutes that followed whatever conversation he was to have with the young woman.
He inched back a bit, also closer to the door he had just left. Not too far, however, for he wanted to examine the situation he was getting himself into. What kind of play was there for a reunion of sorts? One that after a few months, still wanted to be formed, the feelings he stored away inside of himself, beckoning to be let free. He wouldn’t allow himself to be weak like that, but then again, what other plays did he have for such a situation? Alfonz was unsure of everything at that moment, other than the girl only meters away from him, and still looking as good as the first time he had met her.
“Lost, Miss Loire? I think the wedding is more the way you came?” Alfonz asked, sarcasm dripping from his every word. A smirk appeared on his face, but it wasn’t his normal smirk, rather it was one that looked as if it was holding something back. A smirk of guilty truths and untold tales…It was no longer a question of how much he had thought about her, or how much he hated himself for not forgetting about the half blood…but rather, if she in return wanted him.
He couldn’t take not knowing…even if nothing was to come of it.
