Alfonz did as Shay said. It wasn't often that he did as anyone said, but at this moment he really did have to find something for Celina. "She needs help," he joked, "but it's not from herself," it's from the friends she could be making.
Turning toward Shay, he looked over her shoulder ever-so-slightly to see the book in question. A boy who goes against authority, he thought to himself. It may have been a good book for him, but as Celina was...well, as she was, she may not have seen what the point of the story was.
"I know she's..." now noting to himself, he really didn't know what she liked when she wasn't at his side. "Actually, I'm not sure. She's a big studier....but I'm not sure if she's into fiction much." Then again, he did know something she adored more than anything in the world. "I wonder...she has a cat," he thought out loud looking over at the bookshelf. "She probably would relate better to a book that had something to do with a cat."

"Hmm, cats," Shay said under her breath, unable to hide the bit of sadness in its tone. Sure, it was an everyday word, but it made her always remember her black cat Murder, who had died just about a year and a half ago. Being as she was the first and only pet of Shay's, she could only associate an entire species with her Bombay cat.
"Let's see... overthere I see some fictional shorts. In that corner there's a book on interesting facts about cats in wizarding history." She picked up a decent-sized novel. "Here's one about a journey across Spain through a kitten's perspective." She looked up at Alfonz. "Seeing anything that you like?"

"I don't read much for...what do they call it? Pleasure?" he asked her totally serious. He read his textbooks in school to become more knowing of the world around him, but he never once picked up a book. A waste of time, but if it kept Celina occupied from the people who could influence her wrongly, then Alfonz would buy anything. "Unless it has any useful value, I don't read it. You can't learn anything from a story, that's not better put in a refrence book."
Taking the book about a cat's journey through Spain, he looked it over. It looked well enough, and nothing to confuse Celina's mind. "I guess this one will do," he muttered to himself, not to overly pleased. "A book on a cat, is a book on a cat. Maybe it will provoke her to keep to what she knows," Alfonz spoke to himself. There were to many thoughts and worries about his sister at the moment to keep any trivial thoughts in his mind. Unfortunately, when he got at this stage of thinking, he hardly realized until it was too late, that anyone around him could hear his thoughts. Sighing, he turned his focus back at the brunette. "It's a good think you've been in the shoppes to pick up those guys you consider....what did you call them? 'Hunks?'" sarcasim flowed through every word. "Otherwise, I'm sure you wouldn't know your way around the books as well as you do."

Something that Alfonz said struck Shay as odd, but only in her opinion. Shut up, shut up, Shay. "Yes, well when you're as determined as I am, you tend to pick on things that are irrelevant to your goal."
She was sure she was in the home stretch, and far from putting her foot in her mouth when her curiousity attacked unknowingly. "What did you mean that it will 'provoke her to keep to what she knows'?" It was certainly sounding intruding as she cited him almost verbatim, but she couldn't stop now. "Wouldn't you rather that she try to read to comprehend and explore things beyond her comfortable zone? Be as what they call a critical thinker?"

"A criticle thinker is one thing, Miss Loire," he replied almost immediately realizing what he had yet again done. His eyes narrowed and expression became more serious than it had been that whole night. His intention was not to scare, but to get a point across. Celina would soon face probably the same lecture, if not a more indepth and severe one. He really had to learn to keep his mouth shut when thinking.
"But being influenced by the wrong crowd of people is another." He was sure she wouldn't understand. She seemed social enough to have...friends in many different areas. Without getting into to many details, he almost wondered how he could explain himself to the young woman...then realizing, he out of anyone, did not have to. "I'm sure you wouldn't understand." He quickly ended that, searching for something more to go off of. "Like you said. Why use or encourage the use of anything that is irrelevent to a goal? People are the same way. Some prove useful," he said as he lightened his expression and paused a minute to signify that he could have been talking about her, whether he was or not, he still wasn't sure. "While others, are not."

Shay stared at him, her expression full of incredulity at his conservative point of view. But not only that, but he had written her off the bat as someone who didn't understand. This wasn't going to set off her temper, but it was going to provoke some dangerous part of her mind.
"You may think I don't understand, Mr. Jedynak," she started, unable to prevent the production of a condescending imitation to the last name basis, "But it might surprise you to know that I do. You don't want her to come under the influence of bad apples, but that doesn't mean that you should restrict her from knowing all kinds of people. It's fine to protect her, but then you also forget to teach her. Teach her to know who can screw up her life and who won't." She wasn't finished with making her point, but she felt it necessary to stop at some point before she started a long lecture on her part.

"And, trust me, I intend to." Alfonz could feel his reasons for not wanting to talk to people flutter throughout his mind. She may believe she knows, but I highly doubt we are talking about the same thing he told himself trying not to just drop everything and leave right then. "My sister, is very...easily influenced if she is told that it is ok to be," he started remembering their foolish mother and almost growling, "but I will not have anyone using her in any fashion. I do not expect that a mere book will keep her away from those, but I will be teaching her to focus on what is important such as her studies."
It didn't make sense what he was saying. By being so angry at the moment, he almost just wanted to tell the woman that no matter how he taught his younger sister was none of her concern. He turned more towards the younger woman, and stared at her coolly. "And in the end, it's not a matter of if you or I understand what it is being talked about here. It is if my sister does, and at the moment I'm positive she doesn't." It had never come to his mind to teach her, and Celina never did give their father enough credit to listen to him fully.
"And if you think you know so much, how do you suggest I help my sister?" He was almost mocking Shay as she stood there in front of him almost challenging the way he did things. She was to young to understand, when it came to such matters thought Alfonz, but then again, maybe the younger aspect of teaching would prove helpful when talking with this to his sister. After all, Celina had been back at Hogwarts now for about a month, and depending on how social she had become, could mean a lot of new friends, and a lot of new trouble.

"Well, if I was an overprotective brother on the verge of being a tyrant," Shay began and made a gesture of meaningful thinking. She hadn't really meant it when she said he was a tyrant, but it was mostly to prove her point through a hyperbole. "I'd expose her to the kinds of people that will encounter her when I'm not around. Not enough to form some sort of bond or even to make contact, but enough for her to relate to what I'm trying to get across."
She gave it not even half a moment for a pause before continuing and maintaining eye contact with Alfonz. "I believe the way you should try to get her to learn something is by first relating it to her. Things can be irelevant to the goal, but it can prove to be effectively relevant in some other case. But besides that-- what I'm getting at is that if you want to shake her of her easy impressions... you're going to have to exploit it a little."

Instantly intrigued, Alfonz wondered almost how one would exploit their sibling in a fashion that wouldn't drive them away, he had actually been wondering it for a multitude of reasons. All Alfonz really needed was for Celina to have an apiphiny that Alfonz, was in some way one of the people he was trying to get her away from.
"A tyrant, Miss, is far from what I'd call myself. A concerned, but sometimes overprotective brother maybe, but a tyrant, definately not." He was yet again calm and collected. Losing his temper was not going to get him anywhere, especially when he had finally found his use for the young Miss. Loire. She was younger, and a female, and in a way, she could indirectly relate more with his sister. In the end, helping him relate better with Celina.
His relationship with his sibling was very close. But he wasn't about to lose it because of some adivce given to the girl, even if it meant he had to react in a more reserved fashion. "So, Miss. Loire, how would you suggest an older, concerned brother, going about explaining to a younger sibling the qualities of the right type of persond to get involved with. Exploiting her? By that, what do you mean?"
A sly smirk gently crossed his face, as he gesutured toward the front of the store. "Maybe over a drink we could discuss this?" My dear, you may just helped me more than you think.

Shay looked at him to the door and to him again. It caught her off guard, as did most things whenever she focused herself on a passionate debate. Although it would have required some serious thinking, she found herself saying, "A continued discussion is in order. Only if you treat, of course."
Why in Merlin's habitat would she agree to having a drink with a disagreeable man? Neither of them seemed to object when it came to butting heads, but why would it be worth it continue? The truth was that although she often faced unfavorable situations, it had never stopped her from stopping or slowing down.
Shay abandoned the book she had in hand and started for the door, thinking that her first payment would come into play later. Though secretely, she was relieved to not spend a Friday in the way she planned. Only overworked people did that.

He nodded his head slightly. "Of course," he said agreeing to treat her to the drink. If it would ultimately better him, then anything was worth acquiring the information he sought. After all, it was in the end going to not only help him, but the situation he found most worrisome at the moment, when considering Celina.
Alfonz noticed as she put her book down and he considered doing the same. However, until he was to know more about how he could help his sister, he thought that maybe he should still send her the book. As they walked toward the exit, he quickly purchased the book, and politely opened the door for Shay. "After you," he curtly said tipping his head and bowing slightly.
