Jack had been looking forward to meeting Verina in Diagon Alley for a good majority of the break, well the couple of days that they had been apart form each other. He had convinced his mom and dad to get him a couple of rooms in the Leaky Caldron and to allow him to go alone with the expressed understanding that he would be off the streets by ten and that he would behave and not venture to far out of the Alley. They knew that a festival was going on and, in fact, would be there for a bit of it. Not that they had informed Jack of this. It was actually the only way that they would let him go, because they knew they would be there if he needed them, but he had better go along with what he had agreed to or he would be going nowhere soon.
Smiling they bid him farewell and watched as he flooed into the Leaky Cauldron to meet his girl friend just outside of it. They would be enjoying the festivities for the night, then crashing at the Leaky Cauldron, in separate rooms of course, and then getting up and heading to his house to spend a couple of days with his parents. Which he could just imagine how fun that was going to be. Don’t get him, wrong he loved his parents but they had a knack for embarrassing him. What parents didn’t? It still bugged him though and he just prayed that they kept the baby pictures to themselves.
Dawning a grey-blue button up shirt and a pair of black slacks he dusted himself off and exited the Leaky Cauldron to go and meet Verina. It was there anniversary and he had gotten her a special gift for it. He was just hoping that she liked it and was debating on giving it to her in the alley or waiting to they got to his parent’s house. He had just decided to see how things panned out.

half an hour until she had to meet up with Jack
"Come on mija its beautiful and you'd look great in it," Josue said as he began to follow after his daughter who always seemed so adamant to keep a good distance between herself and anything too girly. He'd been shocked as it was to learn she'd been planning to wear a dress, it seemed Jack had had that influence on her. A slight crease appeared between his brows at that thought but shook it away. He'd seemed like a nice enough boy when he'd met him.
"But dad..." Verina said more than slightly exasperated with her dad her cheeks still somewhat enflamed. Out of all the things he could have possibly of gotten her it had to be that and that color. She'd already given up hope that her dad would ever quit but she'd written his actions off to the fact that he probably thought it was his fault for not having a mother figure always present in her life.
"But Mija it would look lovely and i'm sure Jack would like it," he froze after his words then took another look at the dress in his hands On the other hand... maybe she shouldn't wear this. But then he looked at his daughter who only seemed to go a shade even reder if it where possible. He knew he could trust her and she'd been brought up right which was one of the reasons he was letting her go to the Yule ball to begin with. "You don't want to make your old dad sad now would you," Josue said well aware that he'd pulled that card out on his daughter.
"Your not even that old," she mumbled under her breath as she took the dress from him.
And... 10 minutes later she was dressed in the thing. She had to admit she didn't look that bad in it she'd just never really seen herself in anything like it before. Reflected in the mirror she saw herself in a soft baby pink dress that was actually somewhat warm and she figured her dad must have placed a slight warming spell on it since they were in the midst of winter. The dress seemed to hug her in all the right places and the bottom seemed to flow in almost a liquid way each time she moved slightly. She decided to just give her hair soft curls and left it down, nothing to extreme to it.
Present
Once she was ready to go her things already packed since she knew they'd be spending the night in the Leaky Cauldron she felt a slight thrill go through her. She still couldn't believe her and Jack had already been going out for a year she sincerely hoped he like'd the gift she'd gotten him which currently lay atop her things before their fireplace. Picking up Confetti she rubbed his little nose against her own, "You be a good little boy and no fighting with Frosty," she said as she glanced down at her white siberian husky who wagged his tail adamantly. Once she'd put him down and went to the fireplace ready to leave the little guy began to cry and turned black.
Trying to ignore his cries she gave her dad a kiss on the cheek and a tight squeeze, "I promise i'll behave and i'll see you soon daddy. Love you," she said as she pulled away from him.
"Maybe you should take him with you he doesn't look too happy," Josue said giving a slight involuntary cringe, "I really don't think I can handle his crying until you come back mija." It still made him cringe slightly as he remembered the first time she'd left Frosty he'd almost gone mad at the racket he'd produced. His daughter always seemed to give all her love to those she grew to care for.
"Come on then Confetti," she said with a soft smile only seconds before the little guy ran toward her and jumped into her arms. I have no idea what i'm going to do with you though she thought as he began to purr and gave her dad a last kiss on the cheek before flooing to the leaky Cauldron.
After she'd dusted herself off and had her things placed in the room Jack had gotten for her she headed out to find him. Confetti keeping pace with her as she exited the Leaky Cauldron. Spotting Jack with his back to her she came up behind him and hugged him, "Missed you," she said with a soft smile as Confetti began to rub against his other owner, "Hope you weren't waiting long."

Jack heard the all to familiar voice, and turned his head around. A grin spreading across his face as he saw his favorite person hugging him. “I missed you to,” he said with a smile as he shifted around so that he could hug her properly. “Nope I wasn’t here but a minute,” he added with another smile as he looked down to see Confetti there too.
Breaking away from the hug he picked up Confetti with a smile, “Hey you, I take it you weaseled your way into coming?” Yes he was talking to the cat and knew it wouldn’t answer but it was more of a rhetorical question anyways. Still holding him in his arms he said, fully taking in what Verina was wearing. “You look great! Your going to be the cutest girl in Diagon Alley.” he added with a smile. Of course in his eyes she would have been anyways regardless of what she was wearing, but now it was a fact she was going to be. He was convinced of it.

"He definetely did. My dad thought i better bring him he didn't look like he was looking forward to a repeat," Verina said somewhat sheepishly as she looked down at Confetti who seemed to be content to be in his arms. "Umm... the same thing happened when i left Frosty for the first time dad almost went mad," she couldn't help the grin that came to her lips, "If only you could see what he looked like when i came home. He looked like he was about to kill Frosty. Hmm... I don't even think he'd lept for days." Verina giggled slightly at the memory.
"Thanks. Umm... my dad was rather insistent about it he bought it for me," she said her cheeks turning a slight shade of pink and squirmed slightly where she stood. Oh... great now they also matched her dress. "He bought it for me," deciding to quickly change the subject since she was embarrased slightly she met his eyes once more, "What should we do about Confetti?"

“A repeat?” Jack laughed, listening to what she was saying, “Not this perfect angel.” he continued raising up the kitten and placing it’s paws near it’s face so it looked like it was giving her a puppy dog, well cat, expression, like the one puss in boots gives in the Shrek movies. Still smiling he went on after she finished off her story about Frosty, “Yeah, it’s probably best you brought him then. We wouldn’t want to cause your dad to be sleep deprived. Besides I’m sure confetti can enjoy himself here.”
“He picked a nice dress.” he said with a grin still taking it in. He was surprised that her dad would pick something like that out for her to wear with him, that just meant he must have liked him, didn’t it? Maybe not, but normally Jack thought that fathers went out of their way to be over protective about what their daughters wore, but not this time. Lucky him.
“Oh yes, Confetti,” Jack said turning his attention back to the cat, “He can just hang out with us or we could lock him in the rooms. Either way I think he would be fine.”

"I wouldn't want that either considering dad does alot of his work at home in his office," she said with a slight frown, "I still feel slightly bad about the last time but it had been so funny too." Her eyes brightened at a thought, "Actually i think i have a picture of him that day," she sayd eyes twinkling mischeviously, "Maybe i'll show you sometime if i manage to find it."
Verina's cheeks still remained a little pink as Jack's eyes roamed over her she could almost bet that her dad hadn't been thinking it all the way through when he'd purchased this dress for her. "I think my dad is trying to make up for me not having a mother figure much in my life. Ever since i can remember he's been trying to make me real girly. I think when he figured out i liked the things he used to," she said scrunching her nose slightly. Sure she didn't mind dressing in dresses sometimes for Jack but she still loved a nice comfy pair of pants and simple shirt any time and of course she couldn't forget sports a passion she got from her father.
"Hmm... I don't know if he'd be okay locked up in our rooms. I don't know Jack," she said somewhat perplexed since she really didn't want the little guy getting lost while they drifted down diagon alley but she also didn't want him to feel abandoned. "I guess if we were to leave him in the rooms he might know we're coming back later."

“I’d love to see it when you find it,” Jack said laughing. He was pretty sure that it would be interesting to see and knew if it had been in reverse he would have been mad, at the time, if Verina snapped a shot of him in such a state. Granted it would be funny to look back on later, but still he couldn’t help but wonder if Verina’s dad knew she had a picture of him looking haggard or, if he did, if it still existed.
“Girly is good sometimes.” Jack teased poking his tongue out at her, while a crooked smile spread across his face. He liked to see Verina in dresses and all dolled up, but she was still gorgeous to him even in plain cloths and he had to admit he didn’t even like being dressed up all the time so he knew where she was coming from. “He’s probably just trying to give you everything and doesn’t want you to be left out on anything.” Jack said pleasantly. He had met Verina’s dad and he seemed like he wanted nothing more than for his baby girl to be happy, which who could blame him. Isn’t that what every parent ultimately wants? “And I must admit he had done a great job raising a beautiful daughter.” he continued with the crooked smile reappearing on his face.
Looking into Verina’s eyes he could tell that she was having some reservations about leaving Confetti in the rooms. He, personally, thought that the cat would be fine without them for a couple of hours. It got along at Hogwarts just fine without one of the two always being with it. Then again, he was forgetting that this place was new to the kitten and that Confetti wouldn’t be familiar with it. Not to mention, at Hogwarts the cat had the whole castle as it’s play ground, having grown up their the majority of it’s life, or so Jackson thought because he and Verina had after all swiped it from the old Transfiguration professor, and if they left it in the room it would be confined to a very small space. “I don’t know, but he would see that we did when we returned.” he said, “Or hold on a sec.” With this he bounded towards the animal shop and disappeared inside with the little kitten still in his arms. Moments later he was out of the shop and back in Verina’s presence with Confetti rigged up to a blue leash and walking along side of him, well okay it was being slightly dragged, but Confetti would get used to it, right? Sure he would Jack reassured himself as he got close enough to Verina to say, without yelling, “Or we could take him with us. He can trot along right by our side. I’m sure the places wouldn’t care; they are used to animals. But it is up to you.” He was just trying to please her in what ever way he could when it came to the cat. If she wanted to take him she had that option. If she didn’t, well she had that option too. It was just up to her.

Verina had known that Jack would love to see a picture like that of her dad. She really didn't think their would be a problem with it as long as her father never found out. But then again he might have the flash was a little hard to hide when she'd taken the picture. It wasn't often one was able to catch her father in disarray so it was a rare occurance. She'd even sent a copy of it to her brother Kasch and couldn't help but wonder if he still held onto it along with the other small momentos they'd managed to send to each other over the years.
"Your probably right though I think it's mostly due to the fact that when i was little he raised me more like a son," Verina said with a slight laugh before she let the thought cross her mind that that might have had something to do with Kasch being away with her mom. "Aww thanks Sweetie," Verina replied with a soft smile at his words before she leaned forward and gave him a brief kiss on the lips. Before Jack she hadn't honestly thought of herself as being pretty let alone beautiful in truth those thoughts had never truly gone through her mind. But he did always seem to make her feel beautiful when she was around him.
She laughed slightly as Jack ran off with Confetti only to have him reappear in a matter of seconds. Her jaw dropped slightly as she took in Confetti and the blue leash he had strapped to his body. "Jack you didn't," she said quietly as she saw how unhappy Confetti seemed to look if anything he looked as if he was ready to either claw the leash or Jack's leg which happened to be the closest limb to him. Verina picked up Confetti in her arms and began to pet him, "I really don't think a leash is the answer," she said with a slight frown because of the way Confetti seemed to be reacting to it, "He should be fine in the rooms. Could you please take it off?" she asked since it would be easier for him to take it off while she held him. Plus she wanted to make sure Confetti didn't try for revenge.

So Verina hadn’t thought that the leash was a problem solver like he had. Aww well. He wasn’t ready to give up on it just yet. Sure Confetti looked like he could kill, but Jack was still under the delusion that he would get used to it. “The pet store person said he would get used to it in a minute if we just made him wear it.” Jack said with a grin taking the little guy out of her hand and placing him back on the ground, even if he was a brilliant red at the moment. Did that mean he was mad? Maybe...but Jack ignored this sign.. “Lets just try it for a minute or so and then if he hates it we’ll take it off. He’s only been on it for less than five minutes. Surely not enough time to determine a hatred for it.” he continued trying to get the cat to walk without dragging him. He was sure if he did it on his own that the cat would be fine on it. It was the dragging that it didn’t like, right? Well that was what Jack was convinced of anyways.

"Did you ever think that maybe the guy was just trying to sell more merchandise?" She said her frown deepening as Confetti turned a brilliant red the little guy really didn't look happy. The first thing that would have crossed her mind was that the guy had been what cat would enjoy being on a leash that's what she wanted to know. "Can't you tell how miserable he is? Look at him Jack you can't honestly say that he's enjoying that and you really think a few moments will change that?" Verina asked motioning to Confetti who Jack still seemed to be trying to get to walk on the leash but which looked more like he was dragging him more than half the time. "I think we should just leave him in the rooms," she really didn't like to see Confetti like that and she couldn't believe how stubborn Jack seemed to be about the leash, "How would you like to be in his situation?"

“Fine.” Jack conceded. He had been trying to solve the situation but it just seemed that he had made it worse. “I just thought he would be bored stiff in the room and would much rather come with us, but the room works I guess.” he continued bending down to the cat that still seemed to be just as determined not to be on the leash as he had been when he had exited the shop. “Here.” he said grabbing the collar of the cat and holding it still so that he could get the leash off. Big mistake. Apparently the cat was a bit more upset than Jack had thought because as soon as he grabbed the collar the cat turned on him, sinking it’s claws as deep into his arm as he could. Letting a few swear words escape he held strong and managed to get the leash off. “There,” he stated a little roughy as he dropped the cat and let it run over to Verina

"I know I don't really want him being alone locked up either but at least that way he'll have the rooms to wander in instead of being hooked up to that contraption," Verina managed to say before Confetti turned on Jack and sinked his claws in his arms. She couldn't help but physically wince for Jack since she could tell just how much it must have hurt considering the words he'd used following Confetti's actions. Confetti hissed one last time as he came to rest at her feet before she picked him up once more, "He really didn't mean anything by it 'fetti," she said with a soft smile as she pet him, "He was only trying to find a way for you to join us." Once it seemed he was calming down she turned her attention to Jack, "Are you okay?" she asked since his voice had been a bit rough, "Would a kiss make it all better?" She figured that if anything would distract Jack from the fact that Confetti had in fact hurt him.

Once it seemed that the ferocious little monster had calmed down a bit, well his color had become less intense anyways going to a blue color while in Verina’s arms. He hadn’t actually gone close enough to see if Confetti was still upset with him, but he didn’t know if he really wanted to either. He liked his arms without scars, thank you, and he wasn’t going to stick it anywhere in the vicinity of the cat, again. Now that the kitten was out of his arms reach he could survey the damage. It wasn’t bad, but a bit red and there was a little blood but not much. “Probably.” he said pouting a bit.

Verina couldn't help laughing at his actions, "We both know that pouting doesn't work on me," she said with a soft smile as she looked over at him if anything her pouting was what usually got him at least ninty-nine percent of the time. "Anyways you know I can't very well give you a kiss with you over there and me over here," Verina replied with a slightly teasing smile to see if he'd end up coming to her. After all she didn't really want any bad blood between him and Confetti sure he was just a cat but still, he was their cat.

Dang. That was right. Pouting rarely worked on her, but it certainly worked on him. He couldn’t remember the last time that it hadn’t. Oh well. It still seemed that he would get his kiss if he wanted to venture into cat attack zone. Was a kiss really worth a couple more scratches? That was an easy answer. Of course it was. “That is right, want to inform me on the things that work the best?” he asked with a mischievous smile. He knew some, but was always up for more tactics.
“I’ll come over there than,” he said with a grin deciding that it would be well worth the scratches to get a kiss from Verina. Making his way closer to the two he just grinned and decided to see if Confetti would get him again or not. He didn’t harbor any hard feelings towards the cat, well he had a minute ago, but who could stay mad at such an adorable thing. Scratching him behind the ears he was glad to see that it didn’t spin around and attack him, but just laid contentedly in Verina’s arms.
