Intentionally forcing his shoulders to slump, the wand maker acted disappointed. Truthfully, he would never even dream of putting Elizabeth into a situation such as that; that could be quite damaging to her career and general well-being as a law-abiding woman. Regardless, it was fun to joke and play around, and his companion was a great person to do so with.
"Oh," Nick said, dejected. "Well, if that's the case, I'm afraid I'm going to need a few minutes alone behind Ollivander's before you come over."
More important than the joke, however, was the way Nick's companion worded her response. Immediately, the wand maker noticed that she had said "...a certain shop in Diagon Alley that belongs to someone I care for..." She was, of course, referring to the shop that Nick owned, indicating that she cared for him. Elizabeth would probably never realize how much he was analyzing her response, but it was really a great feeling to pick up on that subtle sign that their relationship was growing further. That thought alone made him sheepishly grin.

Laughing when he kept up the fun little conversation, Elizabeth shook her head. The idea that someone would be breeding anything illegally in the middle of Diagon was likely the best hot spot for not being caught. Not many would suspect Diagon to be large enough to breed much of anything right there. Then again, Knockturn was much larger and many bred a number of things down that way. The reason she knew was because she had taken a few trups down that way to visit entrepreneurs who thought they could get away with their deeds that broke all laws she knew.
"I will gladly give you five minutes," Elizabeth answered him with the slightest smile touching her lips. "But no more, and when those precious minutes are gone, you may expect my reappearance to your side. I do not think I would be able to stand being away from your side much longer when I am so close by to you." The truth was she liked being in his company, especially so close by to him as she was. Holding hands was a small step for most in dating situations, but holding his hand ws rightly comfortable and a kind of large step in her opinion. Especially being he was one of the first to show no cares over her being German rather than British.

"Okay," Nick said, sarcastically. "When I said five minutes, that was only a rough estimate. I really meant however long it takes to hide two baby dragons and their mother from an insightful Ministry official. Seeing as you are an insightful Ministry official, you may have a more precise estimate as to the amount of time this would require."
Of course he was kidding. Not only did the shop owner have no real desire to break such major laws, but Nick really had no idea how to breed dragons. Plus, he would never want to risk setting his shop on fire and dragons had the whole breathing fire thing going for them. Yes, Nick was definietly joking.
"Oh, Elizabeth," Nick said, grinning and looking down at his companion. "I can have such a great time with you."

"Well, still no more than I can stand being away," she answered him, giving the slightest of nudges with her shoulder into his arm. Over the last few months she felt extremely close to the older man, liking the feeling she got from him, the fact he was kind and humorous. He was an amazing man, and she liked him very much. "Though I must admit, it would take much longer to hide three dragons than five minutes unless you were an all powerful wizard."
She was not doubting his ability with a wand, but she did not see him as powerful as many in history classes she had learned of. Powerful in his own right perhaps, but not like that. "You would need more than one wand and at least a dozen people keeping their guard up and on the mother so as not to let her get anyone."
A smile still touched her face as she continued walking with him toward the stage to listen a ittle bit to who was playing. "I have an exceptional time with you always, as well."

Of course, Nick knew that he had no real ability to control dragons. His magical expertise lied with wand making, and the man was content leaving it at that. He never particularly enjoyed working with magical creatures, particularly the dangerous kind, as a Hogwarts student, so he never pursued the field. Considering the way that the shop owner and Elizabeth met, it was somewhat ironic...
The wand maker was really in a good place, at that moment. Perhaps the conditions were simply right: nice weather, good music, tasty lemonade. More likely, however, was the man's company. He really enjoyed spending time with the Ministry official, and was literally thrilled their relationship was growing. Nick was honestly so happy that there was the potential of random skipping.
"Thanks, Elizabeth," Nick said, finally.

When he showed his gratitude, Elizabeth gave him a curious look, though did not ask why he was thanking her. The woman always had fun with him, he was an amazing man to spend time with and she liked the time they had spent together the last few months, it was precious. As the corner of her lips turned upwards, Elizabeth squeezed his hand gently, but pulled him along with her anyway. Well, not really pulled, he seemed pretty willing to follow, but she liked to think she had some sort of pull with him.
The music all around them was loud, but interesting. Elizabeth had never had a strong pull in any sort of music, though her parents had required her to take dance lessons for many reasons, and she did think she could dance quite well, though she would never admit to another she thought the two feet she was given were just right for such occasions as she was not one to brag about the positive things about herself.
"No, thank you Nick," she decided to counter him. "If it were not for you I would be absolutely miserable at m job, here, and just in general. I really did not hardly know a soul before meeting you, a few neighbors but no one magnificently well. And I rather like how you do not seem to mind I am not from around the British area rather than Germany." A few at the Ministry still were not fond of the fact she was German and not from good old Britain.

Nick was about to take another drink of lemonade with his free hand when Elizabeth made the comment about being from Germany. The statement had completely taken the man off guard; he would have never expected that. At first, he actively noticed his date's accent and found it humorous when she randomly spoke in her native tongue. Now, however, after getting to know the woman better, it was completely natural and not strange to him at all. Regardless, her ethnicity, language, or culture did not change the shop owner's mind about her at all.
The wand maker stopped dead in his tracks, despite the fact that he was holding Elizabeth's hand. His eyebrows furrowed, he asked: "why would I ever mind that you were from Germany?"

When Nick stopped, so did Elizabeth, needing to as she could not very well continue while attached to the man. The look he gave her was concerning, but one she had rather expected with the bitterness of her comment. Many cared that she was not British, though she did not parade around how she was half Irish and quite proud of it. Her German accent seemed to be a turn off to many, or they just turned a blind eye completely to her and she was happily and contently ignored.
"The British are not too happy to open their minds to Germans," she told him in a semi-teasing voice. She knew Nick did not mind, but many others were slightly bothered. "I know you do not mind, that is why I like you so much, but others do not care that I am German, from Germany, or what else. It is the reason I do not speak too much unless required to in other company. But with you, it is different, you are very accepting of the fact, for which I am glad."
