Days were slipping by and those that did were so precious for a number of reasons. Drew was soon going to be leaving Hogwarts, not returning with her in the fall and she'd be all alone to face the horrors of wand classes, her morning runs, dinners, research, she'd be left to face it alone. All right, so it wouldn't be that bad, but it would be close. The blonde knew she wasn't alone at the school, but Corey had left her, Michael left her, Drew, Seanna, Hiro, Alexander, Charlie, they were all leaving her.
Every day reminded her of what she was soon to face, she made sure to remind herself by keeping a countdown of days she had left to spend with Drew on the grounds of Hogwarts. After the end of the year feast, he'd be gone. Yes, they had all summer, when they weren't working at least. And she didn't know of his plans, whether he was going to be attending the academy right at the beginning of the summer or if he was holding off, she wasn't entirely sure how it worked, but if he entered sooner, it would mean less time with him during the summer.
It felt like a no win situation, and she still hadn't told him she'd nearly fully made up her mind to go to Kenya after she was done with Hogwarts. She would wait until August, but no later. Felicity was in love with the erumpent and she couldn't imagine herself working with any other creatures so soon and had gone as far as to actually send a letter of inquiry to the facility she took an interest in. They hadn't sent anything back yet though, and she was beginning to wonder if she should start inquiring elsewhere, too.
The lake was really pretty this time of year, the ice was starting to melt and it wasn't strong enough to really skate on anymore, so the blonde was left sitting on a rock that overlooked it, just gazing out over the beauty of it all and thinking to herself.
There were so many things to take in, and at the same time she didn't want to think about them, especially when it came to the little amount of time she had left with her boyfriend. Once summer hit, their time together would be less, not to mention the same for breaks, and if she did go to Kenya afterwards, what would happen then? He said he wanted to wait for her to graduate, they had spoken before about the possibility of Kenya the previous spring, but would he be all right with her going even now?

It had been a long winter, but it felt like Spring was finally on its way. Spring brought hope, new life, sunshine, and a bright future. Allegra still wasn't sure exactly what she was doing, what she planned to do in the future, or how she was going to get there... but at least she wasn't as frustrated about it as she had been.
She had work to do-- there was always work to do-- but she had decided that spending all day in the castle and taking a lunch at her desk meant she could take a few moments to go outside, get some fresh air, and just relax.
She skipped out to the lake, her favorite spot even while she had been a student, bringing along an early tea in her tote, complete with sandwiches and hot orange pekoe in a thermos. Her plan was to set herself on a rock, enjoy her break with a good book, and go back to work refreshed and calm. The fact that there was already someone on her rock of choice didn't disturb her any. She wasn't against sharing.
As she approached the blonde, she finally recognized her and smiled as she got closer. She hadn't had much of an opportunity to get to know the Gryffindor her brother was dating, but from the way Drew gushed about her, Allegra knew she was a nice girl.
"Hi, Felicity," Allegra greeted, not wanting to disturb her if she wanted to be alone, but still thinking she should say hello. "What brings you out this way?"

As deep in thought as she was, Felicity didn't notice the approaching footsteps of another and jumped, startled by the voice saying her name. It wasn't one she recognized off the top of her head, though it was one she wanted to become much more familiar with. Allegra seemed really nice the few times Felicity had spoken with her, and she was Drew's sister so it was even better. Turning herself around on the rock to face the older girl, Felicity flashed her a smile before pulling the contents of her backpack closer so there would be room for the other Thornton to sit with her for a bit.
"Hi Allegra," she greeted in return, somewhat shyly. Her relationship with the girl was never really defined by Drew, so she didn't know what she was allowed to talk to her about and what she wasn't supposed to mention. "I just needed some fresh air."
A simple answer that was honest, and vague at the same time. "And I needed something that was nice to look at and I couldn't find Drew." All right, so she felt like she wasn't telling enough information to veer it from being an outright lie, so she continued, and then she thought maybe she'd said a little too much when she added Drew into the conversation, but it was kind of true. She wanted to think about things with him, talk to him about everything, but at the same time, she didn't want to waste breath on trivial stuff like that when she could be telling him so much more that was a lot more important.
"What about you? What brings you out here?"

Allegra laughed at Felicity's comment, finding it funny that anyone might consider her brother "something nice to look at". The older girl figured Drew was considered nice looking and had heard the gigglings among the female population, but to the older Thornton, he would always be just her little brother. Even so, Allegra thought it was nice to hear Felicity liked her brother so much. She had heard enough about how much he liked her, so it seemed to even out.
"I needed a break," she answered with a friendly smile as she held up her thermos. "I decided I had spent too much time in the castle and decided to take my tea outside. Want to share?"

Hearing Allegra's laughter, Felicity hoped it meant things were all right. She wanted Allegra to like her, wanted her to think good of her. What if saying what she had was crossing a line? But if it was, wouldn't she have turned around and told the blonde off, right? But instead she moved a little closer and smiled, as well as offered to share tea with her. It'd been ages since Felicity had had a proper tea, the summer previous to be exact. At her sister's home during the summer while Drew was at home, Felicity had spent a weekend and they'd had tea then.
"Breaks are nice," Felicity commented. "I'd like that." Sharing something with Drew's sister would be nice because it meant she'd have something to share with her that wasn't some sort of affection for Drew. And she wasn't sure what to say, what was she allowed to discuss with the older girl? An awkward silence was sure to follow, but she couldn't think of what to discuss.

With another smile, Allegra took a seat next to the other girl and placed the thermos between them while she got out the sandwiches. She had two sandwiches cut in halves so that would be easy enough to share, and while she only had one cup to top the thermos, a replicating charm was easy enough to solve that problem.
"I hope you don't mind cucumber and mint," Allegra told her, pulling out a cloth napkin and placing the paper wrapped sandwiches on top. "I suppose we could switch them to something else if you'd rather, though. I heard you made seeker. Congratulations!" Allegra too, wasn't sure what would be an appropriate topic of discussion with Felicity so figured Quidditch was always safe.

Watching as Allegra took everything out, setting it out properly and getting things set, Felicity smiled softly and shyly. It was odd, thinking of having a conversation with Allegra when Drew wasn't present. She liked the other girl, but she'd never really had time to get to know her without Drew hanging around, or rather she hanging off of Drew while he spoke to his sister about something.
"I don't mind," she answered, perking up when she heard what the older girl had to share. Felicity liked cucumber sandwiches, they were really good, and she didn't mind mint having been added to them as well. "No, please don't switch them, they'll be wonderful."
And when she switched the topic right over to quidditch, the blonde smiled more easily and nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, Anna switched my position, thank you." It was odd to play that particular position, being it was kind of boring, but she didn't mind too much.

Allegra poured a bit of tea into both of the cups and handed one over to Felicity with a smile. The Gryffindor seemed quiet and shy and the older girl couldn't help but wonder how in the world Felicity had managed to hook up with Allegra's crazy goof-ball brother. How could this calm, polite girl sitting next to her put up with Drew's antics?
"I've heard you're quite good," Allegra added, taking a half of a sandwich for herself and tearing it into two pieces. She knew that Felicity had transfered in her fifth year and Drew had told her that while Mrs. Hjort was a witch, Felicity's dad was a Muggle. "You just started playing last year, right?"

Taking the warm substance, Felicity held the cup close, cradled in her hands. Taking a sip, the liquid felt so good as it trickled down her throat, warming her insides immediately. As Allegra continued the conversation, Felicity tried not to let the compliments bother her. She'd only just started, nodding her head when Allegra asked when she'd started. There'd been a number of times she had messed up and she really didn't think she was all that good at it, but she played because it gave her something. No, it wasn't soccer or baseball, but it was good enough until she could get home, or start up a small game.
Taking up her own sandwich, she thought of what to say. "I just started last year, yes," she added finally. "I mean, I've played sports before, just never anything like Quidditch." She knew Drew had told Allegra she was pretty much a muggle born, it didn't bother her for his sister to know that bit. If they were together, he needed to be honest about her to his family anyway, all of them. It wouldn't be right if he wasn't honest about things with them when it concerned her.
"Drew told me you used to play Quidditch too."

"Well, Quidditch is like a lot of different things, so if you're good with sports it probably wasn't too hard to catch on I bet," Allegra said with a smile. "Doing it all on a broom is really the tricky part to the whole game."
Allegra took a bite of her sandwich just as Felicity asked her question. Allegra nodded and swallowed quickly in order to answer. "Since I was six," she said. "I didn't play much my first year here, but firsties rarely do, do they? I miss it a lot, but at least I still get to see the games."

"No, not really," Felicity answered with a shake of her head. "Actually, the concept is pretty easy, but the flying was really hard. I mean, I had help, Corey Faulkland and Michael Rolen taught me how to, so it wasn't too hard." Admission that she'd had help wasn't problematic for the blonde, she needed a lot of help anyway. But she had added the boy's names in case Allegra knew them. Cory seemed to keep to himself most of the time, but she still considered him to be a really good friend of hers, and Michael was more outgoing, so she figured Allegra like knew who he was.
Looking at the older girl in awe, Felicity wondered how she'd played since she was six. Then again, she often forgot, being with Drew and how much he knew about muggle things, that they were pureblooded. "Do you practice now and then? I mean, can't you get the Quidditch Pitch for a little while when it's free to just play around?"
It seemed to the blonde, that if it was there, shouldn't it be used?

"Corey's a good guy. I'm sure he was a big help," Allegra said with a smile, doing her best not to make a face at the mention of Mike Rolen. The former Huffle was a huge egomaniac and Allegra suspected that he had only offered to help in order to get with the pretty blonde girl.
Allegra shook her head, feeling a little melancholy over the mention of practicing. Her broom was stored in her closet, unused for the most part, but available just in case. "I guess I don't think I have enough time," she said. "Maybe next time Drew bugs me to get out of the office, I'll suggest we do some flying."

"He really is," Felicity concurred, getting slightly excited for a moment. Corey was an amazing boy, much like Drew was, but he was a different kind of amazing. And Corey had helped her to learn a lot about Quidditch, especially after she made the team, while he didn't always have a lot to contribute, as he played his own position, one that wasn't hers, but he helped her a lot. Much more than he really needed to. Though, she noticed Allegra didn't say anything about Michael. Michael was a really nice boy, but when he kind of scared her by asking her out, twice, once right after another, she was slightly frightened of him, that wasn't what she was looking for. When it came to Drew, it wasn't what she was looking for either, but it sure turned into something she thought was majestically unbelievable.
"I'd be willing to go sometime, if you wanted," Felicity offered eagerly. She liked flying, it was frightening but interesting. And she kind of wanted to know more about the girl, get to know her and spend time with her. Maybe, with Drew gone the next year, they could spend a little time together every now and then.

Allegra looked over at the other girl and almost dropped her tea out of surprise. The Ravenclaw had been feeling awfully secluded, being too old to hang out with the students and too young to socialize with the professors. Most of the time she just stayed in the office, trying to avoid the situation. Until now, only her brother had ever gotten her out.
"Really?" she asked, thinking that would be kind of neat. She'd get some flying in and get to know Felicity more. And with Drew gone the next year, maybe they could even hang out sometimes. "I'd really like that."

Seeing the expression on the girl's face, Felicity wondered if she'd done something wrong, the sudden surprise wasn't what she had expected. However, relief swept over the lioness Prefect when Allegra didn't sound upset by Felicity offering herself up for some time to spend with the older Thornton. Actually, she thought it might be nice because in a way she'd feel a little closer to Drew if his sister and she got along. And maybe they could spend time together the next school year. Though she wouldn't want to "dish" about Drew with his sister, she thought maybe Allegra might also be able to possibly provide Felicity with some entertaining stories if she was ever missing him too badly (which she knew would be always), but nothing overly stepping any lines, just maybe some highlight stories Felicity never got to know. Like maybe when Drew had told her of him and Allegra having dragon pox.
"Me too," she added with a bright smile, confidence returned. In fact, it really did sound nice, and she knew she'd like it because it would give her a chance to get to know Drew's family. Felicity knew how close he was to Allegra, the fact he'd do anything for her, and Felicity loved that they were so close, just like she was with her family.
