Drew, of course, always worked with Hiro and Hiro of course, knew better than to be late, so the logical conclusion would be that he was there even if he hadn't posted yet. This made three at Drew's table which wasn't impossible to work with, but made things difficult considering the Ravenclaw boys had gotten a perfect rhythm down when it came to brewing.
Drew also had a problem not cleaning up his own work area after he was done. Not only was that out of habit for him, but (no offence to Bronwyn) the only way he knew his cauldron was properly cleaned was if he did it himself. Leftovers from a previous potion could be disasterous when brewing and Drew wasn't about to take chances.
As Lucas came in late as well, Drew rolled his eyes, disappointed in the guy for losing the house points, but a bit pleased the guy had gotten busted. With a heavy sigh, Drew started adding ingredients to his cauldron, stiring slowly and keeping the heat low so as to make it take longer.

Seanna was just finishing off stirring the ingredients seventeen times just before Alexander showed up. "It's a love potion, there really isn't that much to think about it" Seanna supplied for Alexander, giving him another smile. What could she possibly use a love potion for? Then there was the fact that she wouldn't probably use it on any of her friends, anyhow. It'd be fun testing it, but really, she didn't want to cause any more problems then there all ready was.
Seanna's eyes turned back to her cauldron, watching as it reached boiling point and as soon as it did, she added the Lavender. It was only then the Professor's voice reached her ears and Seanna made a face at her. Her mind was on the Potion, she was only temporarily distracted before because of her short attention span and her own plan curiosity to see what everyone else was doing.
"The Professor seems to have it in for you" Seanna whispered quietly to Alexander, hoping the Professor didn't hear her. Okay, so maybe Seanna had been lying just the tiniest, tiny bit when she said her mind was on the Potion. Some of it was, some of it wasn't. It was nothing she couldn't handle. The girl was pretty good at multitasking the thoughts that were in her mind when she wanted to. As long as she watched the timing for her stirring and didn't forget to stir, she was fine.

As Alexander had not known the professor had followed him over to where Seanna was, thinking she was too busy with the latecomers, he went to reply back to Seanna only to be cut off. "But there is, my dear...Love potions can be..." Miss? Please make sure you're keeping your mind on the potion and not elsewhere. Alexander jumped a bit, knocking into Seanna's table, but quickly holding out his hands to make sure nothing fell. That was all he needed, for an unfinished love potion to be spilled all over him....just think of the damage to his skin!
Alexander was glad, nonetheless, when another student came in late. It took the Professor's attention off of him and Seanna. The less attention on him, the less nervous Alexander found himself. Especially, when they were talking about love potions, and he had forgotten what he was just saying to Seanna about them. He sighed, looking over his shoulder at the Professor who was not lecturing the boy about what he'd be doing after class. Better the girl and that guy rather than him. Alexander didn't mind helping the Professor out not that he seemed to have a choice but he was glad he didn't have to clean and dirty himself.
The Professor seems to have it in for you.
"So it seems," Alexander sighed and looked back at his fellow Huffle. He nodded his head, sighed again, and his eyes widened. "It looks as if I may be her pet in some ways....does it not?" Alexander hoped that it was only paranoia that made him think such things, but the woman was awful insistent upon him staying. Even offering up her own ingredients when he was to make potions with her? It seemed a bit extreme, especially since he wasn't even supposed to be taking the class. "Well, I'll leave you to your work then," Alexander finished with Seanna, and tipped his head politely at her giving her a warm smile. "I'd best be observing elsewhere....I wouldn't want the potions tested on me for not observing well enough."
And with that, Alexander took his leave, gently placing a hand on Seanna's arm as he passed just to gesture that he'd see her later. Walking around, Alexander found himself passing Drew's table. He looked briefly, and nodded. Seemed everything was going alright there, not that Alexander would really know, but at least he looked like he was observing and doing something. Another thing he needed....for Professor Tapia to notice he really had no interest in the subject.

Drew was taking more time on this one. Hiro thought that something was on his friend's mind but didn't want to bring it up with the extra student working with them. Perhaps he could bring it in with a normal conversation.
"Big difference from the old professor don't you think?"

Drew ignored the Hufflepuff as he came over, not appreciating what the prefect took to be a condecending nod. What right did the kid have giving his approval when he hadn't even made the OWL?
"This one is just slightly looney instead of totally psycho?" Drew answered his housemate in a low voice. "Love potion.. how corney is that?" The seventeen stirs were done and now all there was to do was wait for the ingredients to boil. he checked his watch and smirked, pretty sure he could use up a lot of time on this step.

Bronwyn was almost glad to have gotten some punishment, it showed that this teacher wasn't taking any nonsence from anyone. Listening intently and nodding every now and then to show she was listening. Worse things could have happened, she supposed, or even more boring. Cleaning was at least useful but still, Ron would make sure not to be late again. Though she was not one to complain, Ron prefered not to lose points or be held back after class.
"Alright, Professor," Bron said when she was told where to be seated. Not wanting to hold the Professor up from her card game an more, Ron moved quickly to where she had been instructed. The table had two occupants, both Ravenclaws and both received a brilliant smile from Ron as she put her ink blotched ruck sack on the floor. "Hiya," Ron greeted, "name's Bronwyn, nice to meet you both." Deciding that was enough chit chat for the lesson, Ron turned her attention to the potion they had to make.
Ron read and reread the instructions before she got to cutting what she needed. She listened to the boys chat about the professor. The Gryffindor picked up her cutting board and scrapped her ingrediants into her cauldron. "I don't know," Ron commented, "love potions can be tricky, a good test of our skill, if you ask me." Ron smiled up at the two before starting to stir her cauldron.

"Drew... this is Hiro. Nice to meet you," Drew answered the spunky redhead as he lowered the heat under his cauldron ever so slightly. "Doesn't matter how tricky it is. It isn't useful," he answered her back. "Why not brew a tricky potion that at least has some value?"
Truth was, Drew saw this totally as a girl potion. He had never, ever heard of any guy feeling the need to brew a love potion. Maybe they should teach the subject to the girls in Potions class, but the boys should learn about it in DADA. That would work.

When Alexander jumped, Seanna jumped and when Seanna jumped, the spoon in her hand jumped as well, causing some of the Potion to splatter onto the table. Good thing she was working by herself, the potion splatter on the table couldn't hurt anybody then. Seanna sighed inwardly, thinking longingly of the Love potion she had in the seventh girls dorm room all ready over boiled. It wouldn't really take that long for Seanna to go and grab it and put some of it in a vial. Then again, that potion probably wouldn't be the best to put in a vial.
Seanna was about to answer what Alexander had asked her, but she never got the chance too, because he had sauntered off over towards Drew to 'observe' his work, so it looked like to Seanna. The Huffle gave a small "Uh huh" when Alexander mentioned something about him being the Teacher's Pet, the girl actually thought the Professor was using him as more as an example of some sort... or more of an test subject of sorts. Seanna had to suppress a giggle when she thought of the last bit, though, the Huffle didn't want the Professor to come over and tell her again to keep her mind on the potion.
Which it wasn't. Seanna's mind had wandered off on it's own accord and the girl returned it back to the Potion in front of her. Just exactly how many minutes had it been between the spoon jumping and Alexander leaving and her own mind going wandering? The Huffle didn't know, so she estimated how many stirs she was up too and continued on from there. Seanna figured that nothing would happen to the love potion if she missed out on a couple of stirs.

Alexander kept to his wandering, nodding at those he knew as he went along, and ignoring those he didn't. He hadn't gotten any response from the Ravenclaw, but then again, as the red haired girl got closer and worked with them, Alexander had to admit, she would have distracted him as well. So, that's how it was going. Another asked the professor what they were experimenting on, and Alexander stopped short. He hadn't really thought about the professor actually testing the potions, but Alexander never really paid attention to the instructions on the board. He sighed and quickly read over the instructions.
Alexander agreed and wondered as well. And secretly, he hoped it wasn't him.

The look on the face of the young man wasn't to be unexpected, rather it was almost welcomed. Perhaps he would learn not to be late to her class, tardiness was not acceptable, only under rare circumstances; and those that dared to be late faced the consequences. After receiving his name, she checked it off and returned to her desk, this time getting her playing cards completely out of the way.
Detentions in her book hardly did anything for a student because it usually required a few days between the punishment and the crime, whereas allowing a student the pleasure of doing something soon after the crime was committed sometimes made sticky-notes in ones mind. Many students wouldn't be fond of her for her ways, but it didn't make her any less of a potions professor.
Cards finally shoved away in a desk drawer, Desideria wandered her classroom taking a moment here and there to check on potions. Some received smiles for work well done thus far, others a few tsk-tsks. One cauldron in particular had Desideria's eye, she would need to keep an eye on it seeing as the Hufflepuff girl didn't seem to have her mind on it still. Either the girl had too much on her mind or she really didn't care, either way, it was her mark she was earning.
"Alright class, you should all be adding the Fresh Dirt within the next few minutes," she announced. Of course, her eyes had caught a few who were pacing themselves slowly, which didn't bother the woman. She hadn't explained whom the potion would be used on, and didn't mind that some thought she would be willing to allow an illegal substance to be used on her students. While brewing it was almost as illegal as offering it, she wasn't about to push buttons too much further.

And finally, one Brandon Blaze was making his not-so-grand entrance. Late, as usual. Brandon came into the room, not caring if he was going to get in trouble for being late. He took a seat, looking battered and bruised from his latest encounter with his brother who refused to go home and somehow kept getting into the grounds of Hogwarts. However, after this latest tussle, Brandon didn't know if he'd ever actually see his brother again.
Shaking it off, the Slytherin looked at the board and figured out what they were doing and set to work.

Wait, what? Add the dirt now? Seanna looked into her cauldron and noticed that it hadn't reached boiling point yet and instead noticed that it had gone all gloppy. Was the potion supposed to be like that? Seanna really didn't think it was supposed to be gloppy, she was thinking it was supposed to be clear looking. Like the one down in the Huffle common room. 'Cept, that certain potion was purple in color as well.
Why was it that in every potion class that she had had this year- okay it was only one class- did she have to do something stupid? Then again, this wasn't really her fault. Alexander had bumped into her and caused her to get distracted and throw some of her potion out. Plus, it really didn't help that she had so many thought's running around inside her head. The current splatter that came from her potion that was on the table was also going gloppy, it looked just like a piece of sticky marshmallow.
Seanna sighed to herself, she was going to have to get the attention of the Professor to come over to her. The Huffle really didn't want to get the attention of the new Professor, the girl really thought she was going to be in for it from the Professor, because she had all ready told her to keep her mind on the potion beforehand... which it had been, kind of.
Seanna sighed again, this time a bit more loudly. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Maybe if she got the Professor's attention and explained what happened, she wouldn't be in for it as much. Maybe if Seanna asked nicely, the Professor would allow her to get that over boiled love potion that was in Huffle. "Uhh... Professor?" Seanna asked, not in the loudest voice she could muster. Maybe by luck, the new Professor was hard of hearing and wouldn't be able to hear her. Yeah, right. Maybe by the time the Professor came over to Seanna, her hair would miraculously decided to turn it's self back to brown, too.

Ron laughed at Drew's response. It’s amusing how narrow-minded about things like this boys can be. 'It isn't about the fact that it's a love potion,' Ron pointed out with a light chuckle, stirring counter clockwise again, 'don't you see? It's about the test. We could have brewed The Draught of the Living Dead but it still would have tested us. Anyway, isn't that what this class is about? Anyone can follow a recipe but not all can make a truly decent potion.' Bron decided that arguing this point was not going to get her anywhere so she dropped it like a like potato.
Ron decided that it was not the best of days for her as she almost counter clockwise stirred in stead of clockwise stirred again. She didn't though, she caught herself before she did. Glancing up from her watch, Ron smiled at the Ravenclaw before pointedly chuckling. 'You're probably just worried because you can't brew a half decent potion when called upon to do so, love potion or no.' She chuckled again, watching her own potion carefully, another counter clockwise stir.

"Yeah... right..." Drew answered before turning back to his potion, deciding he wasn't going to waste any more time trying to discuss the situation with someone who didn't know what she was talking about. She had pretty much made his point but somehow saw it as a contradiction. Why not brew a Draught of Living Death? It was more difficult to brew and infinitely more useful, so if the point really had been to test them, wouldn't that have been a better potion to teach?
This Gryffindor was obviously one of those bubble-heads who saw a love potion as being of value. The only people who really felt the need to use a love potion were silly giggley girls who were either too shallow, too stupid, or too dull to get a guy the regular way. Why they had to waste time on such a pointless potion was still a mystery.
Drew's potion was coming along nicely and he was right on the time schedule he had planned out. He'd get to adding his dirt, but not until the last possible minute.

The entrance of the newcomer didn't escape Desideria's eyes. Nope, and neither did his look. Why, he looked like he just came out of a fight with a kangaroo and the kangaroo got the better of him. Shuffling her plump self over to the boy, she clucked her tongue annoyed. "I'm afraid unless you can give me a good excuse as to your condition, you lost five points for your 'ouse and--" but she was cut short by the calling of another student. "I'll be back to discuss with you."
Turning on her heel, she walked away from the Slytherin trying to make odds and ends out of why he'd show up late looking as he did. Just didn't make sense. While the voice hadn't much urgency, nor was very loud, she'd managed to hear it just the same, and most thought of the late boy left her mind as she looked down into the mess that was in the cauldron.
Wasn't this the girl she told to keep her mind on the potion?
"Deary, mind explaining a bit?" The love potion was supposed to be between a clear to a lavendarish liquid, not a goopy mess. If she could tell Desideria exactly what happened, there may've been a way to fix it up, at least a little bit. And it wasn't that the girl wouldn't get any points, as long as a bit of effort could be seen, but she was there to help students get good marks for themselves.
(5 points from Slytherin)
