This was probably the weirdest thing in the world she had even gotten an invitation to. The place was always full of surprises and heck no matter what she always enjoyed a good surprise. She hoped her classmates did to since she wasn't that good a cook to begin with.
She was late she knew but she was actually trying to find out what to wear, yes even for something as odd as a cookoff she needed to be dressed. A cut pair of skinny jeans, some ballet flats, and a graphic tee were now on her person. She thought she looked really good and took a good look in the mirror before throwing her hair into a ponytail and heading down to the kitchens.
When she arrived there were already a few people there. She walked in smiling wondering exactly what she was supposed to be doing. "I"m here" she announced in a joking manner, then she began to laugh at her own silliness. "Hope you all have something to soothe an aching tummy because I'm sure that's what my cooking will cause."

"So let's get this party started!" Drew crowed, placing the box on a counter and jumping up to sit next to it. They had a decent number to get going, and anyone who came in late could jump right in if they wanted to.
He knew everyone in the room, which was a good start, but a few he really hadn't spoken much to other than a casual hello in class. Maybe this could be a good chance to expand his social circle a bit more.

As the event was about to take place, Felicity allowed Drew to take her heavy load and her attention was full on him. Alexander didn't know whether to be embarrassed by this small fact, or just pleased in general. Though, he had known the young Hjort for years, her enthusiasm and energy always did seem to shock and amaze him, as did her playing along with his joking statements. "Well, that's good. I figure I'll show all of you up by making something so healthy but so delicious, you'll never eat anything greesy, sweet, or ummm..." Alexander paused out of anything to say. Felicity by that point was hanging off of his arm in greeting and he squeezed tenderly back with his arm in greeting as well.
"Ah, actually who am I kidding...I'm not to sure about this cooking stuff, Felicity." Alexander whispered as if telling her a secret, chuckling just as Arianna mentioned something about chocolate and apples. His eyes looked over at the Ravenclaw, a warm smile crossing his expressions. "Wouldn't be much of a meal just chocolate and apples I don't think. I'm sure something could be worked around those, though." He nodded quickly at Felicity, giving her arms one last squeeze before winking and leaving her side slightly to stand near the older Raven girl.
"Plus, if I can remember how my mother does it....I think I've got something that not only will you love, but also remember the name of forever." Alexander nodded, not making fun of the fact that Arianna was having problems with memory, but rather trying to say that it would help that. However she would take it, though, was completely up to her. Alexander never was really that good with talking to those he really didn't know in social situations.

Alexander was so worrisome over things. When they'd gone camping it did just fine with the little bit of cooking they were set to do, of course it was always simple stuff, but he could always go for a simple recipe as well. Speaking so only he would hear, she answered, "All you have to do is follow directions, and if you need help, just ask me or even one of the House Elves, they're right scary little creatures at times, but they're mighty helpful too." As Alexander left her to go speak with Arianna, Felicity turned her attention to Drew who seemed to want to get started which really was no problem. The only problem she could see was he was dirtying a nice clean counter they could use for preparation when he all ready towered over the majority of them and didn't really need any sort of height enhancer. Walking over to him, prodded his side gently, no intentions of tickling but rather just trying to get him down. "Well, I know my invitations were a bit rushed and probably didn't fully explain." She truthfully couldn't remember exactly what she had written. "But this cook-off is one to see just who the best Chef out of the fifth year class and up is. There will be many judges to help decide, and the number depends on how many actually show up to participate as the plan is for all of us to be a judge of each others food. The choice is up to you if you want to have a line where everyone walks around just taste-testing the food, or if you want to have a sit down luncheon kind of thing as the House Elves were kind enough to make plenty of space for us to sit if that's the case." Waiting to here what people wanted to do, she paused before continuing. "And there is only one stipulation with our cook-off. You have to use the secret ingredient Drew and I decided on. And if you have no idea what to use the House Elves were also kind enough to compile a few books of recipes that use our special ingredient. There's a book over there (click) and there's one over there (click), there (click) and there (click) ," she finished pointing on the four furthermost counters. "Everything you could hope to need can be found somewhere in the kitchen, just ask a House Elf where to find it or if they could help you by getting it. We have a couple of hours to do this (meaning there'll probably be posts to move along time) which should be plenty of time to find a recipe and get started and done." Nudging at Drew to pull out the secret ingredient and show it off, she hoped everything would be all right.

Drew snickered and flinched at Felicity's pokes, but didn't get the hint, even though his mother would have wrung his neck for sitting on the kitchen counters. He wasn't even mindful of the house elves wiping down the counter around him.
What he did get was the cue to reveal the secret ingredient and he finally hopped down for that, allowing the elves to wipe up where he had been sitting. Drew pulled the box open and pulled out a single fruit: a big yellow pineapple, its green prickly crown still on top. Hegrinned and waved a hand in front of it, showing it off like a game show hostess, before placing it on the counter where he had been sitting moments before.

It was to be expected that there would be rules to go along with a cooking contest but a secret ingredient wasn't something he had thought of. No magic would have been a nice challenge, no help, no copying another dish would all be nice twists but a secret ingredient meant mostly improvised foods.
"There seems to be a lot of people here, I hope you brought enough secrets for all of us." Hiro joked still not knowing what the ingredient was despite Drew's Vanna White impression.

Pineapple...
Arianna could think of many many things she could make with pineapple. Sweet things, sour things, spicy things. Pineapple worked with lots of stuff. Stuff Arianna knew how to make. She didn't know if her stuff could knock the pants off of anyone else in the room, but Arianna only cared if she could make something yummy. Something even Nic would want to chew slowly so he could savor the taste.
At the thought of Nic, Arianna's little smile faltered. Though she kept busy with classes and homework and her therapy sessions, Arianna missed Nic all the time. It wasn't a feeling that came and went whenever she had a moment to sit down and think about him. Arianna actually felt like a part of her was missing. She'd never told anyone but Niccy. Not even Krissy. She guessed this was what it was like to be the wife of a soldier. Only, she wasn't Niccy's wife. Just his girlfriend.
Arianna shook herself back into the present.
"Are we doing this on our own? Or are we grouping up?" she questioned quietly. If they were on their own, she totally knew what she was going to make. In a group, though, they'd probably have to fight it out.

Es stood there silently, leaning against a counter near a corner so she wouldn't have to be afraid of being run into or poked. She just mused over the situation and a smile crossed her face as more people entered the room and started the 'party', as it were. She bit her bottom lip as she thought about what she wanted to make, but was suprised when they announced a secret ingredient. She'd forgotten about that. Her Dad would have killed her for forgetting that one.
Pineapple, pineapple, pineapple....what to make with pinapple.. Oh sure, there were tons of things available to make pineapple with , but which one should she make? And then, it was decided. It would be perfect, risky, but perfect. A mischievious smile crossed her face as she waited for the event to begin.

Looking over faces, Felicity took note of a few facial expressions. None of those she glanced at seemed to have a bad reaction, so it was likely no one in the room was allergic to pineapple, which was a plus in any book. And there wasn't anyone screaming or backing away with a look of shock or horror on their face either, yet another plus. Sighing quietly with a bit of relief, Felicity heard Ari's question, and truthfully, she hadn't actually thought of it. As a group, or pairs, or singularly? The blonde supposed it was up to the individual person. When she was thinking of it, she just figured it would be done individually.
"I was thinking of everyone being on their own," Felicity admitted, glancing over at Drew, wondering what he thought. "But I don't think it would a problem if people wanted to pair or group up." Shrugging, she figured it was a choice left to be made up to themselves. "I guess if you want to do this on your own, then go for it, or if you'd rather be with another, find someone who is willing to go that route as well."
It hadn't occurred to Felicity that with Drew's wonderful display, Hiro wouldn't know what was going on.

Drew usually narrated when Hiro was around, a habit he had picked up quickly and easily. It wasn't like he gave any thought to his best friend being sightless, it was just something that he did and it had become almost like a second nature.
So the fact that he had wordlessly revealed the secret ingredient didn't hit him until Hiro spoke. While the others discussed teaming up, Drew answered the other Ravenclaw prefect. "I think we got enough here for two, maybe three, pineapples each," Drew explained, quickly checking the box again and doing a quick count. "But if we get some people working in pairs, Then I think for sure, every group could have three."
He had planned on working on his own, and already knew what dishes he was going to attempt, but if someone wanted to work with him, he wouldn't be agaisnt that either.

Being completely ignored wasn’t unusual for the Cronon boy, but Alexander did find it highly irritating at times. Especially, when he was thinking himself funny, or even a bit smooth. Obviously, all he was really doing was making a git of himself in front of Krissy’s best friend. He reminded himself to keep quiet the next time and turned back toward the event at hand.
Bringing out a pineapple, Alexander face squinted a bit and he involuntarily shook his head. What in the world…he thought hard to himself, not thinking that he knew any sort of dish that he could possibly make with that fruit. Fruit salad perhaps, but the sugar from the whip cream wasn’t something he himself ate much of. Well, if he was lucky then he wouldn’t have to eat his own creation. If he wasn’t, however, his face would surely feel it in the morning. A shiver ran up the boy’s spine.
“I don’t mind working with someone…” Alexander playfully winked at Felicity and chuckled. He wasn’t flirting, though it could probably have been taken that way, but from the looks of the room, she was really the only one that he knew. Not to mention….he could remember one such event with brownie mix…..
Oh, how the past usually came back to haunt him. Alexander’s smirked, and shook his head.

Pairs, Groups, on one's own, it didn't really matter to Felicity, as long as everyone had fun. Two people in particular; well, she was hoping this would help to make up for their birthday party and it was originally formulated for Hiro anyway since they'd discussed something of the sort way back when she'd first met him in Hogsmeade, she'd just taken her time with getting things settled for the Cook-Off.
Hearing Alexander's voice after Drew said it was fine as well, she had to grin. Of course the dynamic duo would have to pair up if that was what he wanted. They'd done so many dishes together while camping it only made sense to pair up once more. Besides, she found it really fun trying to cater to Alexander's pickiness. Their dishes weren't always well liked by those who went camping with them, as Alexander's direct orders on certain things didn't always match up to Felicity's cook to taste as you go along, but sometimes they created something really good.
"All right, so I guess we can start. Pair up if you'd like, or not if you don't want to, I wouldn't say grab more than two pineapples each, at least at first, and get started." Felicity was extremely excited about this. "Remember the House Elves are here to help us, and just have fun."
Touching Drew's arm lightly in way of saying she'd talk to him after they were done, Felicity grabbed two pineapples and set them down on a counter near Alexander.
"Well, do you think we might be able to do it correctly this time?" she asked with a grin. Nothing fancy, too sweet, too sour, or too complex. It should be easy.

Drew poked Felicity back, grinning at her as they crossed paths. He had grabbed two pinapples and planned on making two seperate dishes: one, an old standby his mom had taought him ages ago, and the second, something he thought he'd try to make up as he went along.
As he took the spiny fruits to a clear area of counter, he grabbed a large knife and busied a couple of house elves who were hovering, asking them to heat the oven and possibly bring him a good cake pan. As the scampered off, he set to slicing the pinapple, noting that he got a rather juicy one. "And a casserole dish, please!" he called after his sous-chef elves.

Arianna glanced around the room. She had an idea for what she thought would be the perfect dish. Should she ask someone to join her, though? It would mean more pineapple to work with, but what if they didn't want to make the same thing? Then they'd have to discuss what to cook and lose precious time.
So Arianna decided against gouping with someone and set to work on her own, first getting her pineapple cut to see how much she had. She then motioned the nearest elf over and asked for some spices and other things she would need. When the house elf came back, Arianna set to work, ignoring the others around her as she concentrated on her dish.

A huge grin crossed Alexander’s face as he looked at Felicity. With his invitation he had only been half serious, just finding out that Felicity and Drew were a match. Alexander actually thought Felicity would go with Drew, rather than him because who was he? He was some guy that she had only known through their families for the last seven years. Alexander mentally shrugged. It’s not like that was as important as someone she was involved with. But surprisingly, as Felicity most of the time did surprise Alexander, she chose to work with him with this cooking. A warmth could be felt within the Huffle’s chest; something that he only ever felt when Krissy paid him her attention.
“I was thinking…” Alexander hesitated before going on. “well, wait….do I have to eat it too?” He questioned Felicity, stopping in his tracks, eyes opening slightly wider. That would make ALL the difference.
