Drew's glance flickered towards Raynor for just a second, his hope being he wasn't about to give up any information she didn't want given. Drew had always had a hard time lying, finding that weaving around the truth and stretching it to it's limits to much more useful and convenient.
"It was more of a mutal thing, sir," he answered, looking back at Corrion when he spoke. The formal address came out naturally for him, having no hint of butt-kissing or mockery that so often came when boys his age tried to use the word. "I asked Professor Raynor about the Ministry intern programs and it eventually led to this."

A mutual thing? Could that mean mutual conspiracy to make his indefinite amount of time a living hell? Of course it could. But he was pretty sure that Raynor was above petty grudges and payback, but of course being 'pretty certain' didn't really mean anything now did it? What he was certain of were the woman's lyalties, and while indeed this may double as some form of payback, she'd followed through for the needs of the student. As the boy continued to explain, the glance while not going unnoticed, did not receive comment.
"I see. Well, while Madame Raynor here could lecture and lend resource after resource, I suppose nothing really compares to an up-close encounter. How long have you been interested in the field Mr. Thornton?" The auror questioned as he tried to decipher the voices for anything hidden. Be it meaning or motive he could find nothing.

"I've read just about every book Professor Raynor has here and I'm pretty sure I'll have more than my share of lectures by the time I finish my seventh year," Drew answered with just a hint of a smile running through his expression. He wasn't sure if Corrion knew about his record, but he was sure it would come up eventually.
"How long, sir?" he asked and another smile crossed his face as he glanced again at his Head of House. He had toyed with the idea before coming to Hogwarts, but it had been dueling her in his first year that had convinced him. "I've been serious about it for nearly four years now," he answered the man. Sure, it didn't sound like much, but Drew hoped the Auror would realize he had made this decision at the age of twelve.
