"Blow it out your ear," he answered, rubbing his own when she let it go. He was actually quite familiar with this particular bathroom. He and Franco had used it to concoct a particular potion, having heard that it was virtually abandoned. Had the boys known the history of the room they might have found it interesting to know another group of friends had brewed the same potion within it's walls.
"You are nuts," he told her, not even bothering to look at her. "Going around being a big fat know it all, showing off in classes." Some might counter that being the know-it all show-off was his job.

"Mr. Thornton, take that tone with me again and I will 'blow it out your ear', what ever in the name of Merlin that means..." she snorted, "and that was hardly showing off, the material in today's classes first years could grasp. It is no wonder that you do so well."
She had stopped pacing, rubbing at Charlie's temples in frustration. Tamis all but wanted to shake some common sense into the boy, or at least shake out the mulish behavior he was currently displaying.
"But I am not Charlene Jones. I'm --" she frowned. Maybe she was going insane. This was not among the easiest of things to explain.

"...Coo-coo for Coco Puffs," Drew grumbled as he sunk to the floor. Her attitude was really starting to get to him and while he was tempted to just up and leave her, tell her to shove off and find another sucker to mess with, he couldn't help but think something was really wrong.
"Stop calling me Mr. Thornton," he told her, still rubbing his ear. "You're starting to sound like Raynor."

"That is because I am 'Raynor', Drew. Professor Raynor, I kindly remind you,"she said at last, or more like growled, frowning as he slid to the floor.
"I do not know how this happened but it did. Somehow I wound in Miss Jones' body and she and mine. All I can remember is going to bed before Banks, falling asleep immediately and waking up the Slytherin dorms," as if she had just recalled something, "Charlie's" eyes widened, "Banks, oh dear, I hope she didn't give him too hard of a time... if anything I can blame it on mood swings brought on by the pregnancy later... no matter."
She shook herself back into reality from her temporary tangent. Though worry of her husband did begin to nag at her from the back of her mind. Why had she not thought of him before?
"I'm not Charlie Jones, I'm Professor Raynor," she glared at him, "if you want me to prove it, so be it. Ask me something I would know but Charlie would not."

It was too fantastic to believe and while she sounded convincing, Drew figured that was just like Charlie... sucker him in and then sock him and laugh heartily when he finally fell for it.
He blinked once at the mention of... a pregnancy? Charlie would go pretty far to pull a joke, but to go so far as to pretend she was pregnant? Drew didn't think so. And it all started to come together. Charlie's acting weird... Raynor's acting weird... That odd little meeting they had had in Defence... The way Charlie suddenly seemed to know all the answers.
"What shape does my patronus take?" he asked carefully. He had never even told Charlie he could do a Corporeal Patronus and had avoided doing it in class. Raynor knew though. He had shown her as soon as he thought it was pretty good.

Well, that one was east enough.... or so she thought. Tamis knew that the boy was now well and capable of a corporeal patronus, but she had only actually seen it once. Some large animal. Hairy. Not a feline of any type and she did not believe it had been a magical creature... ah, of course!
"A bear," she responded, only ninety-five percent positive on that one. Just in case, she added hastily, "mine is a dog, which happens to be my animagus as well."
If she had it wrong that would have to be good enough to prove her identity, there were only three students in the school who knew she was an anamagi, Charlie not among their number.

"She told you..." he said slowly. "Just like the books... she told you..." But he didn't really believe it anymore. The fact that they had somehow switched places made a heck of a whole lot more sense than the two of them discussing his work habits over tea.
"If you're Raynor, then she's..." He took a moment to pause, thinking over the last few run-ins he had had with 'Raynor'. "AW, she is SO dead! I'm gonna throttle her!"

"Not while she is my body you most certainly are not," Tamis responded, rubbing at one of "Charlie's" ears as Drew's dead-threat echoed back to them off the walls.
"I am not quite sure how she has been tormenting you, Mr. Thornton, but try not to scare her too much while she is still in my body, even falling could endanger the --"she cut herself short, "I rather not return to it covered in bruises.
She had almost let slip twice the secret that now resided between Banks, Charlie, and herself. Not aware that she already had once before already.

"... baby," Drew finished absently, letting it sink in a while before it really hit him. "So you're..." but it didn't quite feel right saying that while looking at Charlie's face. "She's..." but that wasn't quite right either. "You're..." Someone was pregnant, he was pretty sure of that. He just didn't really know who at this point.

Ah! Well, she never could call Drew very dimwitted, better not be as a Ravenclaw. At that point Tamis could have lied, said that Charlie was the one, but that would spread horrific rumors that the girl did not deserve. The Deputy winced and took a deep breath.
"Technically, Miss Jones is currently the one pregnant... but yes, Mr. Thornton, baby. My baby," a frown reached "Charlie's" lips, Tamis not very trained in the art of keeping expression off the Slytherin's face as she was with her own.
"All the more reason to get back to where I belong."
Thinking of it now, Tamis wondered if Charlie knew there was a potion that helped with morning sickness, surely someone would have told her by now....

Hundreds of questions were zipping through Drew's brain, but they'd all have their turn in good time. He was going to make sure he had the facts straight first.
"And you didn't tell Professor G?" Drew asked, still unsure why she had spilled her secret to him and not her husband. "About the switch. I'm assuming he knows about the baby, right?"

Running a hand through Charlie's hair, Tamis sighed, "No, Drew, my husband does not know and I would like to keep it that way," she retracted her hand, it still felt weird, to have the hair end sooner than it should. "Professor Gallaudet has been through enough on my account, this is one complication he does not need to know about. But yes, of course he knows about the baby."
It was an akward conversation to be having with Drew, oh, they were friendly enough with one another for sure, but the relationship, despite everything, had always remained instructor to student. This was by far a personal conversation, it was necessary, but awkward.
"None of the staff know they would not believe me," her lips set, "and... quite frankly I rather them not know."

Drew scratched at the back of his neck as he digested this bit of information. He still wasn't sure why she hadn't told Professor G, but figured she knew him better... unless...
"I swear, Charlie! If you're pulling my leg..." but one look at the girl in front of him assured him that it wasn't actually Charlie. He gave a long and heavy sigh. "So why are you telling me?"

"I can't tell a staff member, and Merlin knows that Charlie is not the brightest star in the sky. This is dark arts related, most certainly, I have never heard of anything like this. You probably know more about Defense Against the Darks than any other student currently in the school with how quickly you soak in my books."
It was a truth after all, and even if Raynor would admit it, grudgingly, to herself that she practically trusted the boy before her with her life, she was not about to admit that to him.
"I need help," the words came from her lips painfully, she was not used to saying such. "I cannot think of anyone else who might be able to."

Drew'jaw dropped slightly and he stared at her, a little dumbfounded. True, it was Charlie's mouth saying it (words he doubted she'd say as well), but it was Raynor's consciousness behind them. It took him a moment to swallow and respond.
"What can I do?" he asked, scratching nervously at his neck again. Even as he asked it, his mind was formulating the skeleton of a plan.
