He was rather embarrassed that he had shown her his tattoo. It was just uncharacteristic for him to be open about it. So he was rather unhappy that she began to ask more questions about it. The burning sensation was slowly fading finally. The lingering sensation was something he was use to, so it became more annoying than anything else.
“Infected?” He questioned what Felicity meant by that. Did she think this was a new tattoo or something? Granted, it would make more sense to be a fresh tattoo that burned. An old tattoo that still had a bite to it would make less sense to someone who did not understand it. “Not infected, the numbers appear, disappear, and change position every so often. That’s what hurts; it feels like a burn almost.” He tried to explain it the best he could
“My grandmother got it for me when I was six, it’s something that everyone from her side of the family gets.” The tradition might have seemed strange, actually it definitely seemed strange. Putting a six year old through the process of getting a tattoo was something many people avoided. But Dante could not remember the pain of getting it any more, so he really was not bothered by getting a tattoo so young.
“Yeah it has a meaning,” he answered as she pulled his hand this way and that way. Thankful that the pain in his hand was not affected by her touch. “When I figure out the meaning the numbers usually dissipate, then it will reappear at some point with something new to figure out.”
It use to take forever for Dante to figure out the riddles on his hand, but as time went on he got use to the systems of numbers that the tattoo was using. That reduced the time it took by several weeks, and now he could figure out most of the tattoos within a day or two, if that not within an hour of taking in the information. But this one still had him stumped, which was frustrating.
