Alex turned to the Sydney as she said something to the journal, "Ahhh... I see Sydney has uncovered the secret of the journal" he said. Alex turned to the others, but just smiled. Chris has also figured it out, "Chris, Sydney. Come up here you two" he said, calling the two students who had so far opened the journal and discovered the secret that he had hid there. "Those journals are no ordinary Journals, it holds a secret. A secret I would have expected the second years to figure out, but two first years got to it first. Those journals that you have now are also a few large tomes put together, it's the unltimate detail giver. Just write the words and viola! history plays itself. It's not as accurate on people like the ancients like Tuhkep, the original Wizard government, but it gives details about almost everything I put in there. Details that will help you, ofcourse I might have slipped in something you'd want to expect next year, just bits of information like watching the history of Egypt there." he explained.
Alex then nodded at Sydney "Ofcourse, those are your whole year notes. That's why I'm not giving you any notes, I figured there's no need when you can just show it to them" he said. "You need your history books to look at the accurate key words though, like the year 1600 and such. Also next year, I expect they're still with you. at the start of next year, I'll get them renew their information." he added, wiping the board clean with a wave of his wand and then he took out his black journal again and opened it to a random page. "Xander Griffiths" he muttered, a projection of himself in his times at hogwarts came out. "This is an Example of what you could do, this journal is like a record of your own and personal history book" he showed them his younger self sitting up a tree branch and smiling and laughing at his friends below him "Some of you still might not get it, so if you would need help... I'll gladly help. Remember and even after this lesson, you can see me in my office" he said, sitting down behind his desk and watching the projection. "By the way, that is your main research for this lesson, watch the history of the founders and the founding of hogwarts. I want the important details of it and put it here on my desk, don't forget to put your name on the paper. After that feel free to look at what the journal contains or start writing in it" he said.

Chris felt very proud of himself for being among those to figure the journal out. He wanted to see more about the history of the world, but seeing that he would have to contain his enthusiasm to the history of the Hogwarts Founders, he decided that he'd take the journal back to his dorm, later, and explore more about the world before his inception into it.
Going back to his seat from being called to the front, Chris thought what he'd want to know more about concerning the Founders. He shied away, somewhat, from learning about Salzaar Slytherin - he wasn't sure he wanted to know about that founder. Godric Gryffindor seemed appropriate to his house affiliation, however, he thought that Gryffindor could wait as well. One would have to include the other with the former and latter founders. What about Helga Hufflepuff? What had she done? Chris decided to learn more about the Hufflepuff founder. Apparently there had been a split between the two female founders, according to Caleb and Liam, when the male founders had split. Helga seemed like the one to side with Godric, Chris thought, so he made the decision to learn about her. As would be expected of the idle first year mind, Chris pondered (with a smile breaking, like a wave upon the evening shore, across his face) if the reason for Helga's supposed allegiance with Godric had been a romantic one? A marriage of minds betwixt Hufflepuff and Gryffindor? It would explain the intimate connexion between Caleb and Chris, the latter thought.

Sydney couldn't contain the smirk that played on her face. She was almost gleeful at the praise, given by Professor Griffiths. The journal in front of her was to be her best friend during the coming term. What had Professor Griffiths just called it? Oh yes, the ultimate detail giver. At least if she made sure to use this tool correctly, she'd have no trouble at all with this class. Maybe she'd even get some extra details that she'd not of been able to gather from other textbooks. Syd turned her head, to look at the Gryffindor who had also figured out the journal. Chris Nagle, that was his name, if Syd remembered correctly.
Professor Griffiths had now directed them to watch the history of the founders and the founding of Hogwarts. Sydney opened the journal, and said clearly but only loud enough that no one would overhear, "Show me the four founders." That had practically been common knowledge, at least for Sydney. She had grown up hearing the story of Hogwarts and it's four founders for as long as she could remember. But this time, she'd be able to see them, as they were in life. She smiled as the magic of the journal went to work.
The pages flipped to the middle, and a purple haze drifted up from the pages. A frown creased her forehead, as she waited for something to happen. Ok, maybe she hadn't been clear enough. "Show me the four founders of Hogwarts." and the purple haze vanished, and was replaced with the silhouette of four heads. Two definitely looked feminine, so they must be Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff, respectively. The other two were masculine, so they had to be Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin. The more that Syd looked at these silhouettes, the clearer they became. Sleek and regal, Rowena Ravenclaw was smiling, while Salazar Slytherin, sallow faced and angular was scowling. Godric Gryffindor was stoic, and Helga Hufflepuff seemed to be laughing. The names of the founders appeared, marquee like across the projection. After about ten minutes, Sydney had managed to scribble notes across five pages. It would be more than enough for her assignment.
"End." she commanded. The scene before her faded, and the journal shuddered once and then lay still. That was odd, she thought. Sydney thought about the information she'd absorbed, about the founders and the foundation of Hogwarts. Her parchment lay to the side of her journal, and Syd placed it in front of her. After making sure that her quill was well inked, Syd bent over the parchment and began to scribble, turning her notes into a short essay.
Syd glanced over the parchment, allowed the ink to dry and then approached the desk. She placed her paper on the corner of Professor Griffith's desk ,and then returned to her seat. She glanced once more at the journal, wondering what other secrets this book held.

Chris opened the journal, once back at his desk of course, and thought about the founders.
"Show me the Hogwarts Founders" he said, his tone slightly bored with this assignment. The smoke rose up again, and four figures appeared. One was dressed in green "Salazar Slytherin, for sure", one was dressed in red "Godric Gryffindor!", one was dressed in midnight blue "Must be Rowena Ravenclaw" and the last was dressed in yellow "Ha, Helga Hufflepuff".
Salazar Slytherin.
The first figure stepped forward and half smiled through his smug expression. He wore a beard and had thinning hair in the back of his head. He folded his arms and looked right up at Chris.
Slytherin was born in the eastern portion of England, dates are unknown. He was deeply in favour of educating the young Wizards and Witches of Britain that he joined together with his best friend Godric Gryffindor to found the school known as Hogwarts. Even though the additional assistance of world-renowned Witches Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw were employed, the school was largely the idea of Gryffindor and Slytherin. To commemorate their achievements, the four houses of Hogwarts bear their founders' names. After a split between Slytherin and Gryffindor, the founders broke up, choosing to leave the school in operation despite Slytherin's desire to allow only pure-blood families acceptance to the school. Where Salazar went after leaving Hogwarts is unknown, however he did leave behind a formidable monster in a chamber of secrets hidden somewhere beneath the school. Slytherin was among the only Wizards who knew Parselmouth, the language of snakes. To date, the only other Wizards to emerge with such an ability have been Tom Marvolo Riddle and Harry Potter.
Chris issued a yawn as the figures of Gryffindor and Slytherin locked arms around one another, with Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff stepping into the picture along with the men. Chris felt like this was insincere. Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Slytherin hadn't stayed as chummy as they appeared to look now. Nonetheless, he jotted down what the journal scrolled above the smoke.
Godric Gryffindor
Gryffindor was born in the western portion of Britain, dates unknown. He joined with renowned Wizard and best friend, Salazar Slytherin, to found Hogwarts and name the house after himself. A split between he and Slytherin caused for a breaking of the fellowship created by the friends. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw did reform their friendship, but Slytherin refused to be associated with a school of mixed blood loyalties. Gryffindor retired and moved back to the west where he passed away, dated unknown. He left behind not only his Hogwarts House but also a legendary sword acquired during Albus Dumbledore's tenure at Hogwarts. Godric's Hollow, the village from which the famous Harry Potter hails, bears Gryffindor's name also.
Chris jotted this down as well.
Rowena Ravenclaw
Rowena Ravenclaw hails from Scotland, Glencoe, dates unknown. She invented the ever-changing floor plan, which earned her great renown. Though no husband is mentioned, Rowena did bear a daughter named Helena. After retiring from Hogwarts, Rowena disappeared, supposedly back to Scotland, though her daughter returned to Hogwarts as the House ghost of her mother's house. Ravenclaw left behind a diadem, whose location is unknown.
Chris wanted to know more about Ravenclaw. He'd never heard of a founder from Scotland before. His national pride swelled. Glencoe hadn't been too far from his home town of Glasgow. He had never heard of Ravenclaw doing anything notable there, however.
Helga Hufflepuff
Helga Hufflepuff was born in Exeter, which is now a part of Wales, dates unknown. Her renown is in food-related charms. Hufflepuff became more of a household name when she lent hers to a house in Hogwarts and took up residency there. Her excellence in food charms are continued to this day as the meals served at the school. Though Hufflepuff retired and left the school, dates unknown, she is believed to have moved to Scotland with Rowena Ravenclaw before leaving Britain all together. Hufflepuff left behind a golden cup, which has never been recovered since intercepted by Tom Riddle.
Suddenly, the smoke and figures disappeared back into the book. Chris was too busy jotting down the entry about Hufflepuff to notice, however, and when he did look up once more, the book lay closed and motionless on his desk.

Alex yawned and opened his book, then he whispered. "Show me the history of Egypt at the time of the great wizard Tuhkep" then Book opened the the last page and Alex sat back and watched as the Egyptian history unfolded in his very eyes. He looked at how the Egyptian Wizards concealed themselves and made great things, he paused it when Sydney approached him and handed over her parchment. He smiled at Sydney and closed his book with a tap of his wand, and then he looked over the notes that she had written. Alex smiled and sat back, reading the notes.
He looked up after a while and looked around, many were still reading and some were already writing. "Nice work, Sydney. Great detail and yes, nice observation as well" he complimented, smiling at Sydney. Alex then put the parchment infront of him and waited for other to pass their notes.

Totally and hopelessly lost and confused, Jeremy looked around to see what the others were doing. Some were writing, some were using wands and some had little smoke figures moving around on their desks. Since he couldn't use his wand, and he didn't know how to get the smoke figures, and he still wasn't sure what the Professor-Vampire wanted them to do, Jeremy got out his quill and parchment. Again, looking around, trying not to draw attention to the fact that he was clueless, he couldn't tell what the writers were actually working on, so he just started doodling, pretending he was very busy on whatever the assignment actually was.

Chris looked over his notes. They were remedial at worst, but he could work them into coherent paragraphs and make a sentence, with some work. Lets see: Slytherin wanted Hogwarts to selectively accept pure-bloods to Hogwarts, therefore a quality of Slytherins is bias to blood loyalty. That seems coherent. Alrighty, Gryffindor. Gryffindor believed in education regardless of blood loyalty, therefore a quality of Gryffindors is acceptance of all breeds of magical folk. Good enough. Hufflepuff believed in charms and excellence in her students, therefore a quality of Hufflepuffs is academic excellence (if nothing else). Sounded accurate. And Ravenclaw? Ravenclaw believed in both academic excellence and community spirit, therefore a quality of Ravenclaws is the ability to excel both in and out of the classroom. Ravenclaws must be well-rounded folk.
Chris decided he didn't have enough information to satisfy a full paper, so he opened the book again and said, "Show me the Beginning of Hogwarts", and as the smoke swirled up, the miniature figure of the castle being built by charms and enchantments; the Founders establishing their own houses; the first students to receive an education from the Founders and, finally, the breaking of the founders' fellowship and departure of Slytherin, Chris began to jot down the words that accompanied each stage of Hogwarts development.
Finally, as the smoke sifted out and cleared, Chris looked over his notes. Hogwarts was founded around a millennium ago. It started out as a small institution sporting close to five hundred students in seven years of education. The Herbology department was run by Helga Hufflepuff, the Potions and Instruction on Dark Arts Departments were run by Salazar Slytherin, the Transfiguration and Muggle Studies Departments were run by Godric Gryffindor, and the Charms and History of Magic departments were run by Rowena Ravenclaw. The girls, initially, had a separate school - a finishing school - to mirror their French-Burgundian counterpart (the all-girls institute of Beauxbatons) which was managed by Helena Ravenclaw until her grisly death. The finishing school was closed down after the fellowship broke, and girls were integrated into the formerly all-male school of Hogwarts. Houses were established as more students enrolled in the school; within five decades of its opening, Hogwarts' enrollment had influxed from roughly five hundred students (mostly males) to nearly 950 students, both male and female. But at the end of that half-century, Slytherin had left without ever seeing the birth of the house in his name, and thus the Sorting Hat was born to help identify the qualities of Hogwarts' enrollees - to sort them out and to distribute them accordingly. On the seventieth anniversary of Hogwarts' founding, the remaining Founders announced their retirement. By this time, Helena Ravenclaw had taken her position as the House Ghost of Ravenclaw, thus the other two founders installed a Fat Friar from Exeter to be the House Ghost of Hufflepuff as well as a forlorn yet chivalrous Knight, Sir Nicholas, whose nearly severed neck earned him the nickname (no PUN intended) of "Nearly Headless Nick", as the House Ghost of Gryffindor. A resident ghost of the dungeons, "the Bloody Baron" was named an honourary House Ghost to Slytherin (his domain as it was) though Salazar was no longer associated with the school and could not officially appoint the ghost as House Ghost. Also, portraits of the Founders, enchanted of course, were placed at the portals of each of the Houses in order to assure every student's safety. Each portrait was given a password, known only to the prefect students and the Heads of the Houses, by which the students associated with the houses could identify themselves and be allowed in. With these measures in place, the remaining Founders retired their posts and a new era at Hogwarts began.
Chris wrote this down in polished sentences and signed his name at the top of the parchment. Included in his explanation of the beginning of Hogwarts was the information on the Founders, which he'd collected in the viewing prior to this one. Rereading his work, Chris found himself to be pleased with the composition. He finished rereading and proudly walked up to Professor Griffiths' desk, distributing the paper to his teacher before retreating back to his seat.
A great idea came to him as he trudged back to his desk - he wanted to see his step brother, Liam's sorting! Sitting down, Chris opened the journal and smiled.

While Izzy appreciated the professor's attempt to make the first year feel more comfortable in a room full of second years, it wasn't working. The Gryffindor was only getting more embarrassed by the second as the man continued on about how she at least showed up to class and didn't skip. That was true, but she didn't want to have to talk or think about it at the moment. All she wanted to do was become invisible for a few minutes until the other students forgot about her entrance, and how the professor acted toward her as if she was a terrified six-year-old who needed comforting. She wasn't terrified. She had just been caught off guard by the centaur. And she wasn't six. She was eleven, thankyouverymuch. Double digits.
Luckily for the red head, someone else in the class spoke up, taking everyone's attention away from Izzy. She looked at the person who was speaking to the teacher, and came to discover that it was Hannah, a girl she had met in the library a few days ago after one of her first negative experiences with the staircases. On both sides of Hannah were two other boys she had also met in the library - Jeremy, whom she had gotten off to a rough start with, and Brenton, who seemed pretty cool from the beginning. The Slytherin boy immediately caught Izzy's eye as he smiled and waved to her.
Izzy returned the smile with one of her own and made her way across the room to sit next to Brenton. "You have no idea how good it feels to know someone in here," she whispered to him as she reached into her messenger bag to pull out her book, some parchment, and other items she'd generally need for a class. However, most of what she had taken out didn't look like it would be needed for this lesson, after the professor handed out the journals and explained them to the students.
As class went on, Izzy sat quietly, watching the projections and listening to the conversations between the students and professor. She was quite content, actually, until the professor announced the assignment for the class. Essay. Not one of her strong points.
The Gryffindor sighed softly as she put away the textbook for the class, opened the journal, unrolled a piece of parchment, dipped her quill into a bottle of ink, and then said to the journal, "Uh... show me the history of the four founders and how they founded Hogwarts." She paused for a second, before adding, "...please." Then she watched as the story of the founders and the beginning of Hogwarts played out before her eyes. It took her a while to get into the story, but when she finally did, the quill was going a mile a minute. Essays made her nervous and therefore she always went all out when it came to taking notes for one.

Alex looked at Chris as he followed after Sydney shortly, he looked at the parchment and was surprised. It wasn't only pure hogwarts details, but it seemed to include beauxbaton's as well and how Helena Ravenclaw had managed it. Hmm... Interesting, save comment til I can find a good one he thought, looking at it and putting it above Sydney's. Students are creative, and this is something that will make it more exciting he thought, looking thoughtfully at his students.
Alex then decided to stand up and look at his student's doings, he smiled as he saw them writing, watching and putting more details. He frowned at Jeremy's table though, he was just doodling at his parchment. Alex crouched down infront of Jeremy and opened his journal for him, "show me the history of hogwarts, in full detail" he muttered. Then he looked at Jeremy, "Watch that and write down what you see, I don't want to see one of my students fail" he said, giving Jeremy a small smile and then standing up again. Alex looked at Hannah who was beside Jeremy, "Help your friend out, hannah. He needs your assistance" he said, gesturing towards Jeremy.
Alex then continued his walk and smiled at Izzy, he patted her shoulder and asked "Doing ok there, Izzy?" she seemed to be in a hurry. Her quill was dancing around quickly on her parchment and he was getting a bit dizzy watching it.

These journals held much more information than Izzy ever would've guessed. In fact, at least five minutes had gone by and the red and gold book was still giving her very detailed information on the founders. It had showed how Godric Gryffindor was the best dueler of his time, how Helga Hufflepuff was very skilled with food-related Charms, how Rowena Ravenclaw died of a broken heart, and how Salazar Slytherin was both a Parselmouth and a Legilimens. Gryffindor's description had made the red head smile, not only because she was in his house, but because of the dueling - that sounded awesome. Hufflepuff seemed like a sweetheart, Ravenclaw's broken heart was depressing, and Slytherin... well, Izzy didn't get that great of a vibe from him. He was almost frightening. The journal was only now beginning it's story about the founding of Hogwarts when Izzy felt a light tap on her shoulder. The first year turned around to see the professor standing there with a question. She quickly turned back to the journal, which currently showed a projection of the four founders discussing their plans for the school, and spoke to it: "Uh... could you hold on for a second?" she asked the journal, then shook her head. "I mean... freeze. Or pause. Or... something." And once again, she added, "...please." Only when she journal had paused its story, did Izzy turn back around to face the professor. "Yup," she responded to his question. "It's just a lot to take down. These journals don't leave out anything, do they?" The red head smiled at the professor, then suddenly found herself wanting to ask a question. The journal had actually showed it, but she still found it hard to believe. "Can a Legilimens really look into another person's mind?" Now that was creepy, and also made the first year slightly paranoid. The professor approached Jeremy and the young Ravenclaw panicked. He tried to think of a decent excuse to explain what ever it was that he had done to make the man come over, but once confronted, the boy froze, just watching the man with wide eyes as the journal started.
The History of Hogwarts, in full detail... write down what you see... Jeremy fought back the urge to cry. What had he done to deserve such a punishment? If it took a thousand years to live the history, how long would it take him to watch it and then write it all down? Forever.
The man finally walked away and Jeremy slumped his head on his desk, knowing Hannah would hate him forever for having to help such an idiot.

Chris was interested in finding out more about this journal. It had some pretty awesome capabilities... but how far could it go and how much did it know?
Could he, for instance, could he see his brothers' careers at Hogwarts? He wanted to give it a try. He'd go for Liam first. He opened the journal and leaned close to whisper "Liam Couley as a first year".
The journal was motionless, but Chris' head was fogged. Why didn't it show him what he'd wanted it to show him? He tried again. "Liam Couley as a first year in Slytherin."
Nothing.
Chris was puzzled. He closed the journal and looked around the classroom. It seemed everyone was still figuring out the Founders. Chris looked back at his own journal. Maybe three was a charm?

Hannah had it already figured out, of course. The young Ravenclaw just wasn't letting on that she had figured it out and 'sides, she was having too much fun watching her first year self fly back to Professor Raynor when she was a first year and the rest of her classmates had decided to leave. The scene she was watching, was too funny not to be working on the four founders off the school and not to be paying attention when a Ravenclaw and a Gryffindor had figured out what the journals and projection tomes could do.
'Sides, she didn't have to answer every single question every single time one was asked, she didn't want to be seen as a suck-up. Though, she had to admit, she was enjoying this class and what the Professor was teaching them, especially what the journals and the projection tome thingy's could do. It was fun learning something that was had nothing to do with history.
"What?" Hannah asked, distracted by the journals and shutting the projection off when the first year heard what she thought she heard coming from the Professor. Giving a sideways glance to Jeremy, she scrunched up her nose at him, thinking that Jeremy would absolutely hate the idea of her helping him... that would almost be like her teaching him and Hannah was by no means a teacher and she would never be one.
Grumbling under her breath about not being a teacher, Hannah opened up her journal and the projection tome thingy again and muttered to them to show her the four founders of Hogwarts. Watching the start of the show, she saw the four founders, one each for Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor and finally Slytherin. The Projection seemed to be at the place where they were just talking about opening up Hogwarts.
Hannah sighed softly, and looked over at Jeremy, not wanting to teach anybody, she didn't want to fall in that trap and do somebody's work for them. "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to help you with... " Hannah trailed off, shrugging her shoulders slightly, brown eyes full of confusion as to what she was supposed to be helping Jeremy with. Hannah thought she could write down some notes to help the both of them out, seeing she had to do her own assignment on the four founders, but she was sure Jeremy was more than capable writing down his own notes.

Alex was looking at Jeremy and frowning, he had to talk to that boy after class. His thoughts were steered away from the boy when Izzy asked him something, he looked at Izzy and smiled. "Yes, that and many more. It was the Dark Lord Voldemort's favorite kind of torture for Harry Potter, he made him relieve every bad memory he had and used all the good memories he had against him. Well... enough of that, continue with your history essays and Jeremy, see me after class" he said, nodding at the Ravenclaw boy before going back to his desk.
Sitting back on his desk, Alex opened his journal ans wrote a few sentences in it. He had nothing to do so he might as well write something too, the students could take long in writing their essays. He was also trying to figure out how to help Jeremy, the boy seems to be afraid of him. That wasn't gonna do if they had the whole year together, he might ask the Ravenclaw head about this. Alex sighed, as much as he wanted to help Jeremy, he couldn't. He needed the help of someone else, Times like this requires teachers like his head of house for help he thought, looking at the boy briefly and returning to his writing.

Great. Now he was in for it. Fortunately, he was short (probably the only time Jeremy thought it was a blessing) and could hopefully sneak out with the rest of the class.
And then another thought came to him. How did the professor know his name? Maybe he was one of those creepy mind readers? His cousin had warned him about that, but Jeremy couldn't recite Green Eggs and Ham like Drew could. The older boy had told him that was a sure fire way to keep people out of your head. Jeremy tried to think of something else so that the mind reading vampire professor couldn't figure out his vulnerabilities.
