Sleep. Lily thought. Sleep without dreams. She thought next. Oh glorious sleep. She nodded her head weakly yes, waiting for it. Oh sleep.

"What's it called?" Drew asked, wanting the specifics. If lily had a bad reaction, he wanted to know exactly what to tell Raynor.

"Pepinstep," Selena said. "Always hated the name. It's like Pepperup only directed more towards this sort of thing, where as pepperup is more for colds. And this is just some dreamless sleep. Relax, I wouldn't hurt her dear." She handed it over to Lily. "This should taste a little better sweetie."

Lily drank the potion and settled back down into a lying position. She remembered having one thought before she fell asleep. I hope Drew doesn't murder the nurse.

"So what's wrong with her?" Drew asked, knowing a high fever was just a symptom of something major.

"Just the flu dear," Selena said. "Awfully bad one too. Don't think her immune system's fully up to par. She been sleeping alright?" She went to a chest, near her door and pulled out a warmer thicker blanket. "You must be freezing." She said, handing him the blanket.

"Thank you," he answered, accepting the blanket. the first one had acted more like a towel anyway and was now wet as well. "No, she hasn't been sleeping."

"I thought not," Selena mused. "It makes the immune system weaker. Our body uses sleep to recover. That's a very important thing. That's probably why it's so bad."

"But she'll be okay, right?" Drew asked, just making sure.

"She'll be fine dear," Selena reassured him. "She'd be better off getting her sleep from now on though, so things like this don't happen again. Now what about you," she said. "What's your name child?"

There it is... strike one, Drew thought, wrinkling his lip at being called 'child'. He was 15 years old and taller than most grown men. Hardly a child in his book.
"Drew. Drew Thornton," he answered, in an almost challenging tone. He knew his file was full of all sorts of mean things some of the nurses had thought about him and while most of the nurses had overlooked the notes, Drew knew they had still read them.

"Ah," Selena said. "Well Drew you did the right thing by bringing Lily here. You must care a lot for her, given the fact I get the impression you don't trust people of the medical profession. I hope I'm meeting your high standards."

"Where'd you get that idea?" Drew asked, looking at her through narrowed eyes and wondering if her second strike would be the whole mind reading thing. He hated when people did that.

"For one thing," Selena said. "You're not alright just sitting back and watching me. You ask a lot of questions. Shows a bit of unease. For second, I've read a bit of your file. Seems you and the other nurses never really got along."

"My mother says the question thing is because I'm precocious," he told her, though he figured he was getting too big for that particular label. "She also says an inquisitve nature is a sign of a high IQ. As for the nurses, there were only two of them that were more concerned about spreading lies about me than doing their jobs right."
