It wasn't really a matter of whether she wanted to be left alone, but did she trust there to be someone else in the room? With the luck Felicity'd been having as of late, she could just see it now: Sally sent to St. Mungos due to Hjort's Wand. Not a good sight or image to think of. Really, she could just practice later, she did have her bag with a couple of books in it, and her cushion that still hadn't been replaced in the Gryffindor common room.
Biting on her lip, she thought about it. "No, I think it's a big enough classroom to be able to share," she answered. After all, what if the girl heard her from down the corridor or something? What would she think, or possibly say, about her wandwork?
Sitting down where she was standing, she pulled her bag closer, keeping an eye on the girl. "Sally, what year are you in?"

She nodded at her answer and sat down at the desk again when she saw the older girl sitting down. She considered the question for a long moment before finally answering, “I’m in the same year as you, unless it’s relevant.” She leaned back and grabbed the ink bottle from windowsill, opened it, and set it on the corner of her desk. Then she grabbed a quill and moved the notebook to the middle of her lap. She held the quill at ready over the page as if she was about to write but her eyes were still on the older girl. She spoke slowly, not so much curios as still a bit suspicious, “Does it hold any relevance to our current conversation? And if it does, I would like to know your year as well.”

Raising an eyebrow, Felicity knew that was a lie. The girl wasn't in any of her classes and she looked younger than Felicity too. Of course, looks could lie, for all she really knew the girl could be older than her, but she knew she wasn't in the same year. What relevance it held, the blonde didn't really know, she was just making small talk. After all, she'd never met Sally before, so it only made sense to her to keep talking.
And as for relevance to the current conversation, she didn't know. They exchanged names and then spoke very, very briefly about Quidditch, so no, not really.
"I was just wondering, but I know you're not in my year," she answered, not sure why the girl had lied about that. "I'm a fifth year."
