Thursday July 10, 2008- Sunday July 13, 2008
The trip that had been planned had to be cut down to size, by length and numbers. First to go haywire in the plan was that of the Jedynak's. They were unable to attend the little get together Ib was working to get going during the time he was able to take off from work, not even their daughter Celina was able to go on their trip despite Felicity's trying to convince Celina to cancel her other plans. Next, the Cronon's were unable to make the same dates, which cut their party down by another total of three. Of course, the largest part were all still going on the camping trip as per usual. And then the length of period was to be cut down only a week before they were supposed to go on their trip. The owner of the store Ib managed fell severely ill, and as Ib was the highest manager, and the most trusted by the owner, he decided to put off the trip at least until the owner, James, was feeling well again despite the pushes from the man's wife to go on his family trip, that she could manage just fine. However, Ib Hjort refused to do as such and waited. Only a few days after being admitted to the hospital, James was released and allowed to go home, but it was another week before he was feeling well enough to attend to the store. This time being Wednesday, but he pushed Ib to leave the place in his and his wife's charge.
The beginning of the trip was completely off.
However, Ib agreed to leave the next day, being Thursday to make a part of their trip; after all, one of the largest reasons for this trip was Felicity's boyfriend. The six foot one man was not please his daughter was dating the boy again, but he was reminded by his wife, Meadow, there wasn't much they could do about it. Their youngest was growing up and wasn't home to watch every minute of every day; this only made Ib suggest they begin home schooling her in magic and have her attend muggle school again. The answer was a stern "no".
With everything packed that night, tents, sleeping bags, pillows, bathing necessities, teddy bears, fishing poles, bait, coolers, food, clothes, three dogs and their food and toys, seventeen people, two boats, and five vehicles, they were set to go. And they made it to the end of the street before having to turn back to let David use the loo, then they made the turn around the corner before having to return because they forgot Freddy's action figure doll he didn't go anywhere without, and then they were finally off. They made it out of London, and nothing was forgotten it seemed, so it was safe to say everyone was good. A brief stop at Meredith's home to let her into the train of automobiles with Carrie who was the only child without the chickenpox and feeling well enough to go, and a few shifts in seating, they were on to their destination with a new total of nineteen people, three boats, and six vehicles.
Meadow drove the second vehicle in the line, with Jeremy, Matthew, and Rufus playing hand held video games, Rufus' dog, a Samoyed named Frost, in the back. Zachary was next in line, towing his brother's boat and with Fawn, David, and Freddy in his truck. Next driving was Meredith with Lisa, Carrie, Brandy, and an Australian Shepard named Hilton as passengers. Felicity's cousin Stephen decided to drive his jeep up in case he had to leave on business during the trip, and he offered his sister Lindsay and cousin Cherry a lift with him; though he regretted it as soon as they took off, all the girls could talk about was Felicity's boyfriend. Harold brought up the rear with a majority of their supplies and Meredith's husband Samuel's boat, as well as with Pahndah as a passenger. In the lead was Ib Hjort, towing Dennis' boat with Felicity and Drew as passengers. Surprisingly, Felicity didn't think it was too bad. Her dad mostly grunted in response to anything said to him, but usually was pretty animated when he drove. In his opinion, Meadow set him up with the passengers, it was her suggestion he take his youngest daughter, which he had no qualms over, but then Andrew was thrown in before he knew it. The man was not overly pleased.
Two stops were made on their trips, both bathroom breaks, and at each one the younger children got to have snacks. With a head count after each, they headed right off. Their destination was out near Youghal, Ireland, on a spot of land owned by a long-time friend of Ib's. However, since they'd had to make a drive up to Manchester to pick up Meredith and Carrie, the ride was an excruciatingly thirteen hours without the stops, longer with. Though it was Ib's reason for leaving at four in the morning, so the arrival time was estimated to be about seven at night. There would be just enough daylight to get all of the tents up between the amount of them. Meadow had made sure with Fawn to pack all of the tents in one vehicle so they wouldn't have to search for them and waste time.
As soon as they arrived, the children under the age of twelve along with Jeremy, Stephan and Fawn, took off to find good roasting sticks while the rest of them (a total of nine) were left to set up the tents. Tent one was for Ib, Meadow, and Freddy. Tent two was for Lisa, Carrie, Brandy, and Meredith. Tent three was for Fawn, Xachary, David, and Stephan. Tent four held the teenage girls, Cherry, Felicity, and Lindsay. Tent five was to be occupied by Jeremy, Matthew, Rufus, and Harold. The last tent was Drew's. With only two tents having been left to be set-up, everyone but Harold, Felicity, Lindsay, and Cherry had wandered off to start unloading the proper sleeping bags, pillows and stuffies in the tents that were all ready up.
After the tents were crammed with belongings, the dogs were tagged and chained so they couldn't take off, the food was stored in one vehicle except that which was to be dinner that night, the others returned with roasting sticks, the fire was started.
Dinner was to consist of fire-roasted sausages, apple and banana chips, hard rolls, celery and carrots, crisps, and for dessert were marshmallows, but no chocolate as the adults thought the younger ones would have more than enough sugar by that point at night.
As people were bustling about getting dinner put together in a buffet style on a table, setting up three picnic tables, millions of chairs all around, some near the fire, others around a card table, little plastic chairs for the younger children around two other tables for card games and board games if they chose to play any. And Felicity had slipped off to grab the sweatshirt from her bag she had yet to return to Drew. The blonde maintained it still smelled like him, though she washed quite often; it was something Ib had really not been pleased about seeing her wearing.
Cherry stood with Lindsay, ogling at Drew, whispering behind hands about how cute he was and how lucky Felicity was to be allowed to bring her boyfriend. Cherry had not been allowed to do as such. Fawn and Zachary were in charge of making sure the children didn't wander near the lake Ib's friend also owned. The great thing about where they were, the ocean wasn't a far drive, and Felicity planned on getting someone to take them out there during their stay. And Freddy's birthday was Saturday. They'd be celebrating, but it was going to be a small celebration because he needed a party and that would be the following weekend when hopefully everyone would be able to make it.
Feeling warmer in her sweatshirt, as it was hers for the time being, the brown-eyed girl returned to the large scene before her. The younger ones were in a line to get their food while Ib and Harold finished cooking more sausages for everyone else. Meadow, Meredith and Stephen dished up to the little ones and Freddy was rubbing sleep from his eyes because he wanted to stay up that night and sing around the campfire.
Walking up to Drew, Felicity stood behind him for a moment, just resting her forehead against his back before stepping off to the side and smiling at him. He was there.
"Hi..." she finally said softly, looking up at him. It was the first real moment she'd had to say anything to him that day. "Are you having fun yet?"
