As the door closed behind her, Drew slipped off the rest of his clothes and jumped into the shower. He took his time, just letting the water run over him as he stood there. He hadn't realized how hot and sticky and tired he was, and it hit him how long he had been up so far. It was early morning in Qui-lin and he had left California right before noon.
It was a good twenty minutes when he finally turned the water off, clean and refreshed after the trip. He wrapped a towel around his waist and shook the water out of his hair before heading back to his room. Portkey was probably one of the easiest ways to travel, but having spent so long on Hawaii had worn him out and he took a moment to just collapse onto his bed, enjoying the silky feel of the comforter against his skin. His muscles practically sighed in relief and it was a matter of seconds before he was asleep, snoring lightly with his face burried in the pillow.

Fifteen minutes.....Twenty.....Thirty.....Thirty-five....Arianna looked at her watch yet again and glanced back at the door to the bathroom. Drew was taking a rather long time and Arianna was slightly worried when he didn't come even when the bell rang, calling them to breakfast. Deciding she should check on him, Arianna set Juni on the floor and wandered to the bathroom door. She tapped lightly on it, but there was no answer, so she checked the doorknob.
"Drew?" Arianna called, pushing the door open. She didn't hear the water running, but dared to peer around. There was no Drew, but the door into his own room lay open so Arianna walked over to it, shaking her head when she found the boy sound asleep on his bed.
"Drew!" she called out, poking him lightly in the side. "It's time for breakfast."

"Kay... Mmawake... fiemoreminutes..." Drew mumbled, stiring a bit as if attempting to get up, but then deciding against it. It was a huge dillema: was he too tired to eat or too hungry to rest?

Arianna stepped back slightly. Though the day had just begun for her, she knew that Drew had already been up for at least six hours. She pondered whether to let him sleep for a while longer, but really didn't want to leave him to wake up and wonder where she had gone to.
"Drew..." she poked him again, hoping it wouldn't take as long as it normally did to wake him.

"I'm up... I'm up..." Drew answered, a bit more coherently, but still making very little progress towards actually standing. His stomach was winning the battle at this point, but he knew he'd probably need a good nap before dinner.

"Well, hurry," Arianna prodded the boy again. "Breakfast started ten minutes ago and mum and dad will be wondering where we're at."
Making one last check to be sure Drew was actually going to get up, Arianna headed back into her room so he could finish getting dressed.

"I'm up, I'm up," he said again, this time actually doing it. He wasn't sure how long he had been dozing, but it couldn't have been too long... the towel around his waist was still damp.
Still, he tried to hurry and get ready, dressing quickly and running a hand through his hair to get it to stand up properly. When he was done, he opened the bathroom door and shouted through. "Okay! ready!"

"Good. I'm hungry," Arianna came back into the room, this time with Juni in her arms. Grabbing Drew's arm with her free hand, she led him out into the corridor and to the left, down a large staircase, past the gallery, and into the dining room.
If one had expected to be sitting on cushions with the table only a few inches above the floor they would have been disappointed. It was just a regular polished table like you would see anywhere else with comfy dining chairs arranged around it. Only two people sat at the table, which was currently empty of food, waiting for Arianna and her guest.
"Ah, welcome Andrew!" the man stood and bowed to the boy, his wife following suit. "We wait. Food come soon."
"Morning Papa, Mum," Arianna gave then each a hug and took her place at the table.

"Thank you for having me, Sir," Drew answered the man, bowing back to both of Ari's parents as respectfully as was possible for a fifteen year old American boy. "I'm sorry we're late coming down. I needed to wash up after the trip." He didn't think he needed to mention falling asleep as well.

"Is okay," Arianna's mum, Solada, assured Drew, giving another bow. She then gestured to the seat next to Arianna. "Please, take seat."
As they were settling into their places, Imaran, Arianna's father, walked to a small gong in the corner of the room. With small tap, it rang aloud, calling the servents in with the plate of food; rice porridge, fish, omelets, tangerines and pears.
"It's been long time," Imaran commented as he returned to his seat and attempted to make conversation with the boy. "We appreciate your coming to visit. Hope you will enjoy yourself."

Drew slipped into his seat and waited as the food was set down. He clenched his teeth as his stomach growled at the sight and he hoped Ari's parents hadn't heard it.
"Yes, sir," Drew answered, doing his best to remain focused on the conversation instead of the food. "My mother and father send their regards."

"Itadakimasu," all three Shrivers muttered with slight nods of their heads after the food was set out and drinks poured. As was proper, since he was a guest, Imaran motioned for Drew to serve himself first.
"How are your parents?" the man asked. "And you have sister, correct? How is she?"

Drew crossed himself quickly, mostly out of habit before serving himself a small portion of everything before passing the platters to Arianna's mother. His stomach was growling at him, arguing that he should take more, should start eating, should not forget that it had been HOURS since it had last eaten, but Drew stayed in control, remembering his manners and waiting until everyone was served before digging in.
The house of a ruling monarch was no place to mess up.
"They're fine," Drew answered, willing his stomach to just shut up for a few more minutes. "My sister decided to stay in London over the holidays. My parents weren't too pleased, but agreed it would be good experience for her."

"Understandable," Imaran gave a small nod, trying to hide his glance in Arianna's direction. There were days he wished she would stay home and attend one of the schools nearby, but he wanted more for her to be happy. That, it seemed, meant letting her go to a country thousands of miles away where she could be with her friends, even if it meant his only way of communicating with his daughter was through her owl and his hawk. He, too, would be disappointed should Arianna decide not to come home over breaks.
"You....have plans?" Solada cut in with her broken, hesitant English. She had filled her plate and passed the food onto her husband, who took his turn and then handed it on to Arianna. "Anna....not say....Just ideas...."
"Yeah...." Arianna gave a small smile. "I definitely want to show Drew the dragons. Oh! And I promised Tula and the others another game of Quidditch sometimes this week."
"You'll want to come, won't you?" Arianna questioned Drew though she doubted he would have any objections. "We don't have brooms here, though, so Tula's papa modified some carpets for us."

"Quidditch on carpets?" Drew asked, forgetting his stomach momentarily, obviously excited at the prospect. He had only ridden a carpet that once and thought the idea of playing quidditch on them would be pretty cool.
