Giving the look of a man who just found himself in a fluster, but willing to make it seem like another put him there, Ib Hjort started mumbling to himself, snarling a bit, and walked toward the kitchen without saying another word to anyone else. What did they want from him, he could only rely on his gut feeling, and that told him that boy was all wrong for his precious daughter. And he knew all too well what boys Andrew's age wanted, they wanted everything they could take and then would leave that poor girl in the dust. Unfortunately, that boy wans't done with his daughter, because obviously, he hadn't gotten what he wanted yet. Good for Felicity.
Unless it was so good he was keeping her around...
Letting a huge breath of relief out, Felicity looked to her mum who nodded slowly and motioned with a nod for Felicity to take Drew into the living area while she talked to that husband of hers.
"Come on, Drew," Felicity stated, gently grabbing at his hand, apologizing with her eyes and hoping he'd understand once she explained.

Drew was positive that all of Mr. Hjort's anger was directed at him. It wasn't a hard thing to figure out. Felicity's dad was almost always angry at him. Drew had pretty much given up trying to get on the man's good side, figuring it would never happen and all he could do was be himself and hope the man would eventually get used to him being around enough to ignore him.
Felicity's dad headed towards the kitchen with a huff and her mother followed. Drew took his cue and followed Felicity to the living room, whispering at her when he knew they were a safe distance from her parents. "Are we in trouble?" Was it over phoning his mom or owling his dad... or both?

"I don't think so. I mean, we didn't do anything wrong and he was wrong about his accusations," she answered. "He thought since I'd been upstairs, you were, too. And because he thought that, he thought other stuff as well." Biting her lips, she looked up at her boyfriend, hoping he wouldn't be upset about it. "Because last time, you and I were upstairs together, even though nothing happened, he just thought it'd happened again, and something had happened."
Though, even to her, it didn't sound very good. And really, she knew there was no reason to make the slightest of excuses for her father, considering Drew knew how he felt about them being together.

Drew bit on his lip, not so much out of nervousness, but out of frustration. He wasn't happy about Mr. Hjort's assumptions. It had been made very clear that he was not allowed upstairs and okay, so Drew really didn't expect the man to trust him enough to follow the rules, but Felicity?
"I'm not allowed upstairs. We both know that," Drew grumbled. "I'm not about to risk getting kicked out again just to send an owl." He really didn't understand the man's thinking. Heck, if they had wanted to do something, he and Felicity would find a way better place than sneaking upstairs while her parents were home.

Nodding, Felicity's blonde hair bobbed up and down with her acknowledgment. Together, the two of them were not allowed beyond the first floor, which was frustrating at times, but she understood. It kept everyone on the same rules, and made sure she and Drew didn't get any alone time.
"Yes, we both know that, but he still thinks you'd follow me anyway," she answered. To be honest, she knew there might be a time or two where Drew would follow her, but it wouldn't be to play, it would likely be because of an emergency where something happened and he just happened to run up the stairs behind her. They could always sneak a few moments here and there together, even if it just wasn't the same as having uninterrupted time, they could deal, would have to for a number of years coming.
"But he saw that I wasn't lying. I told him you were using the telly and I was sending a letter, that we weren't upstairs together, again."

"And he thinks you'd let me, even if I did?" he asked, still a little upset. Drew had never known Felicity to lie, so how come her dad thought she would not only break such a serious rule, but then lie about it?
"We didn't do anything wrong," he grumbled, but of course he knew that wouldn't stop her father from hating him. Mr. Hjort would make up a reason if he had to and then get angry even more when people pointed out his mistake. It was a win win situation for her dad and a total loss for Drew and he knew it.

"Well..." Felicity answered, knowing if Drew were to go up those stairs, she likely wouldn't put up the biggest of fusses about it. After all, she wasn't known for making the best of choices. Though, she also knew if Drew and she wanted to continue to see one another, they had to follow her father's rules and be careful. But if he were to follow her up those stairs, she didn't think there'd be much for her to object to other than what her father threatened; which could put a stop to their relationship, so maybe she wouldn't let him after all.
"Not this time, love," she answered, gently touching his arm. In her dad's eyes, they'd done a lot wrong. Drew took her first kiss from her, and a number of other firsts he imagined, some being true and others being the furthest from the truth.

His main point was he wouldn't go upstairs. He knew the rules and he wasn't going to make things worse than they already were by doing something stupid like follow her upstairs just because he was feeling a little... well, frisky. And even if she wasn't sure, he was that she'd remind him if he happened to forget... which he wouldn't. Things were bad enough with her dad and he really didn't need to give the man any more reasons to be pissed off at him. Sure, if there was an emergency, then that was the time to throw rules aside and deal with the consequences later, but he really couldn't forsee a stiuation that he would go upstairs until that rule magically changed (magic that, ironically, only Ib Hjort could probably perform).
"Not any time," he mumbled, not really seeing anything they had done as wrong. Okay, so he had kissed her a few times in the house, but that wasn't wrong... not really. And yeah, he had gone upstairs when he probably shouldn't have, but it hadn't been an explicet rule at that time so it didn't really count. Now it was, so now he wouldn't. "I'm not about to screw things up worse than they already are, not when I know what's expected."

Frowning slightly, she really wished her dad would like Drew. At first he hadn't liked any of the men her sister's had all married, but he did like them, each and every one. So why wouldn't he give Drew half a chance? At times, he acted like all was dandy with Drew, and would be nice and play nicer, but then there were times like this where he acted as though she were pregnant out of wedlock and Drew refused to do anything about it. And she knew it wouldn't be fair if something like that occurred as Jenifer had been pregnant when Jared and she married.
"Things aren't really screwed up though, are they?" she questioned, using his choice of words. She knew her dad and Drew didn't get on as well as she wished they did, but that didn't mean things were wrong, did it?

"Between me and your dad they are," Drew answered back sullenly. "He hates my guts and no matter how many times you say he doesn't, I know he does. Heck, like now. Even when we're doing what we're supposed to, he acts like he's ready to kill me. I can't ever win with him."
He took a deep breath, knowing that getting upset wasn't going to fix anything. He was just so sick and tired of being afraid of her dad. "I don't expect us to be best buds. I just wish he'd at least give me half a chance."

"He doesn't hate you," she told him. No, her dad didn't like him, or seemed not to, but he didn't hate Drew. "He just doesn't like that his youngest, and youngest daughter at that, is dating someone older and different from what he knows. Drew, he hardly knows a thing about our world, doesn't understand when something's explained to him. But he does know what a boy acts like, thinks, and all of that, but on top of not really knowing much about things, he's just being overprotective. He was like this with all of my sister's husbands, I mean, he's a little worse than I can remember with you, but he didn't like any of them either until it was nearly the wedding date."
No, she wasn't suggesting they get married just so her dad would like him, but she was trying to explain. Zachary and Fawn only knew one another ten months before the wedding was being planned, they worked together, and her dad really didn't like him any. And she knew he didn't appreciate her Uncle Gharret either, as her dad had helped raise her Aunt Abigail, but he did like the man after a while. Same with both Sam and Harold. And he didn't care much for Jenifer either at times, more so her than any of the others.
"Maybe you should talk to him?" she asked, not really sure how either party would feel about that. But, Drew was staying in London while she went to school, maybe, while she was at Hogwarts, Drew and her dad could get in some quality time, and learn more about one another. It was all she could think of.

"Older? It's only like 16 months difference," Drew complained. Hearing it put that way, it sonded like he was a 50 year old man trying to get with a teenager. Things had been kind of rough when he had turned 18 and now, he could only imagine how angry her dad would be when he hit 20 next year and she was still only 18. Drew was anticipating five months of hell, hearing how much older he was than she. "And no, he doesn't know about the Wizarding world. He's made it very clear that he doesn't want to understand."
It was a little comforting knowing Mr. Hjort had given all of his daughters' husbands a hard time, but of course that meant at least three more years of this for him. Then again, the other guys hadn't been Wizards and pointing out that her dad was worse with him didn't help him feel better about the situation any.
He bit on his lip as he contemplated her suggestion. Spending any amount of time alone with a man who wanted to neutralize him really wasn't a top priority for Drew. But he really didn't knopw what else to do. "If you think it would help," he answered sullenly. He really didn't expect it to, but he'd give it a try for her.

That was very true, Drew was only a year a few months older than she was. Both Raquel and Fawn were five years younger than either Harold or Zachary, but she didn't feel the need to tell her boyfriend of that bit of information just yet. And even Meridith was three years younger than Sam, Jared was a couple of years younger than Jenifer. But it was one of the explanations she could give that made a little sense. Drew was older, more experienced, her dad didn't know much about him, and Drew was of a legal age, she wasn't.
"I don't know what would," she answered quietly, wishing she had an answer that would make him feel better. "I mean, maybe if you approached him about it, he'd back down a bit?" Biting on her own lip, she knew it likely wouldn't work that way, but couldn't hurt too much to try. "Or if you, maybe, suggested spending a little time together? While I'm away at school? Maybe he'd finally see your not so bad after all?" Felicity thought he was the most wonderful boy in the world, even with all of their fights, he always came out on top because he made up for all of their arguments with even just one little smile.

He didn't know either, but it was that or avoiding the man for the next three years. sure, he could do it, but he didn't really want to go to that extreme. "I already asked your mom if I... if I could still come over," he told her, not sure how she'd feel about him hanging out at the house when she was at school. He had asked because he liked being with her mom, but maybe it would help with her dad too. "She said I could. And I was thinking that... I don't know, maybe your cousins would want to play a little football or something... since I really can't play quidditch much anymore. You think your dad would be okay with that?"

"You did?" she asked happily. Knowing Drew rather liked the majority of her family members meant a lot to the young blonde, and the fact he was willing to spend time with them without her meant the world to her as well. It was like he was going to watch over her family for her, if she couldn't be there, at least he would be. And the fact he wanted to play athletics with her cousins meant a lot as well. She knew they loved to play football, and wouldn't mind an extra set of feet involved in the sport.
"I'm sure they'd love to and dad wouldn't be able to say much. On Saturdays, when possible, they're usually at the park as is anyway. Of course, if you had to work when they normally play, I'm sure they'd be willing to go another time, too. And they could always use the practice for after school athletics."
