OWLs were days away and Drew was doing what he had been doing pretty much non-stop since the Christmas Holidays... studying.
Or, at least that's what he had started out doing. His mind had started wandering and ended up fixated on an old Beach Boys tune. He had started out humming unconsciously as he went over his Astronomy notes, but had gotten stuck on the refrain. Over and over it went through his head until it was all consuming.
At the moment, he was hanging upside down on the comfy chair, his long legs hooked over the back and his books scattered on the floor ringing his head like a halo. His singing had gone beyond a private serenade and he was now belting the tune out, unable to find the end of the song.
"Round round get around I get around I get around round woo ooo ooo I get around I get a round round get around I get around I get around round woo ooo ooo I get around I get a round round get around I get around..."

Grumbling to herself, Arianna stepped past Stoney and right to the fireplace. She had waited a bit too long in getting down to the Great Hall for dinner and had barely enough time to grab two legs of chicken, a scone, and an apple. The last too were okay, but hadn't been enough to fill her up after missing lunch and the chicken was on the cold side. Arianna had already attempted to warm one leg with a small spell, but it had ended up exploding on her. Not trusting herself to risk doing the same to the other, the girl was now trying to warm it by hovering it over the fire and slowly rotating it. She hardly noticed the singing until she found herself humming to it, pausing when she realized it was just repeating the same part over and over again. Wasn't there more to the song?

"WOO OOO OOO! I get a round round get around I get around I get around round..." Drew was singing, closing his eyes and really getting into the woo-ooo-ooos. "Round round get around I get around I get around round WOO OOO OOO I get around I get a round round get around I get around I get around round WOO OOO OOO I get around I get a round round get around I get around..."

Well now it was just getting to be too much for her. He had been singing the same stinking words over and over and over. Arianna could have just asked Drew to stop, but she wasn't too excited about talking to him. Letting him sing might be better than letting him talk anyway. After a little while longer, Arianna couldn't handle it anymore.
Lifting her hands to her ears to attempt to block the noise until she was done, Arianna had momentarily forgotten her chicken, which went flying to the other side of the room when she moved to block her ears. Dang. There went her dinner.

"ROUNDROUND GET AROUND I GET AROUND ROUND GET AROUND" Drew sang, building in volume and blocking out all else. He was accompaning himself by slapping his knees and the blood rushing to his head was making a plesant buzzing as back-up.
If only he could figure out how the rest of the song went.

"I'D LIKE TO BEEEEE UNDER THE SEEEEAAAA! IN AN OCTOPUS' GARDEN, IN THE SHADE!" Arianna sang as loudly as she could in an attempt to drown out Drew. It really wouldn't be so bad if he could just finish the dang song, but that obviously wouldn't happen. Nor would Arianna help him finish. Not only because she didn't want to, but also because she didn't know the rest of the lyrics, so she went for The Beatles instead.

Drew hadn't realized anyone else was in the room and was startled when he heard another voice, flipping off the chair and crashing into the coffee table as he cursed rather loudly. Well, that was one way to finish the song.
He sat up quickly, ready to make a sheepish apology, which turned into a sullen one when he saw who it was. "Sorry... I'll get out fo your way," he grumbled as he righted himself up and collected his things. With Ari in the Common Room, maybe the library would be safe now.

"I'D ASK MY FRIENDS TO COME AND SEEEE AN OCTOPUS' GARDEN WITH MEEEE!" Arianna continued over the crash and appology. She had heard them, but in her enthusiasm hadn't paid much attention until the other voice had stopped. Which wasn't until a few more lines of the song before she looked up and forced a small embarassed smile. Which was probably not seen as Drew started gathering his stuff.
"Um...you don't see a chicken leg over there....do you?" she asked quietly. She was so hungry at the moment, she didn't think she'd mind a little lint. Her hopes in getting it back were dimmed, though, when she heard a mewing and the sound of a tinkling bell. It wouldn't last long if Juni got a hold of it.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Drew asked, frowning at her. If it was supposed to be a crack about his physique, he sure as heck didn't get it. He got his things together before realizing Juni was playing with his quill. He felt bad about snatching it away from the kitten, but wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.

"I had a piece of chicken..." Arianna replied, standing from her spot. She was glad to see that Juni was busy with the quill for now. It meant her food was safe for the time being. She just had to find it first.
Catching site of something sticking out from under the couch, Arianna bent over and picked it up. Her face fell into disappointment and frustration as she chucked the cat-hair covered drumstick into the fire, her stomach growling loudly in protest. Maybe she'd have to risk sneaking down to the kitchens tonight.

"Well, enjoy that," Drew mumbled, not noticing that it was inedible until she threw it into the fire. His stuff was gathered and he headed for his room when he noticed the look on her face. "You know where my stash is," he said simply before heading up the stairs. He'd grab his backpack and head out for the library.

"Okay," Arianna plopped down into the couch, not so sure she wanted to be taking from Drew's stash. She could tell he was about as much upset with her as she was with him, but she didn't know what to say. It wouldn't matter much anyway. The moment she opened her mouth, things would only get worse.

Drew had actually worked out what he would say to her if he ever got the chance to talk to her again, but now, faced with the situation, the words escaped him. "Just... just don't eat all the cookies..." he said lamely before turning back and heading up the stairs.

"Okay," Arianna repeated a bit quieter. She would have remained where she was, but for her grumbling stomach. There was no way she'd make it through the evening until she could find a safe time to slip down to the kitchens. And so she waited until she heard Drew's footsteps reach the door of the boys' dorm before slipping off of the couch and sneaking over to where the boy hid is secret stash. It all looked so good, but as she dug through the contents Arianna realized she really wanted that chicken. Nothing in this pile of food would satisfy her until she got some chicken. Ah, but the cauldron cake she found at the bottom would have to do for now.
Grasping the little cake, Arianna shoved everything back into it's place then hurried back to the couch, where she shoved the cake into her mouth and was done with it before she'd sat down for ten seconds.

Drew clomped back down the staircase, stopping at the foot for just a moment. Arianna hadn't moved. So much for trying to be nice.
He grumbled a bit to himself before heading towards the door. "I'll see you later," he said, feeling like it was one of the worlds biggest lies.
