In the fall season, all the leaves fell like raindrops, lightly and in abundance. The beautiful autumn scene could be observed by nature lovers and romantics alike, what with the morning sun still in its youth and hanging ambitiously in the sky.
The great day was perfect for strolling and thinking. Which made it also perfect for a certain Slytherin to tuck away in the midst of an enormous leaf pile, watching stealthily for a victim to walk on by, or even better-- sit in the pile.

He had been feeling incredibly pensive lately and while the worst of the moodiness had gone, he still wasn't up for a lot of company or goofing off even. This day, he had pulled on a warm sweatshirt and was wandering around the grounds with the hood up, kicking at a small rock here... a broken branch there... a large pile of leaves a little farther on...

Meanwhile, Charlie was congratulating herself on such a foolproof plan when she saw three things in one instant. A shoe, sunlight, and the last fourteen years of her life.
In her pile of leaves, she was sure of her own death (including a big obituary saying, "Memorable and Awesome Girl Dies a Tragic Death"), when she realized the delay of the pearly gates and the delay of her reaction. The latter kicking in, Charlie jumped up from the piles and screamed, "What the hell was that?!?"

Charlie sprang up from the pile of leaves he was passing like a gigantic jack-in-th-box, screaming at him. The surprise he got from having his quite afternoon walk suddenly shattered caused him to jump, trip over his own feet, and fall head over heels backwards.
And of course the only response was to yell back at her. "What the hell are you doing hiding in there?" he countered. "Likely to scare a guy half to death!"

Charlie was horrified to think he thought that he was the one practically dying. "With that kick of yours, I was gonna be the goner!" Charlie stomped out of the pile and towards Drew.
"What are you doing there, kicking things?! An inch closer and that woulda been my face!" She pointed to her face as if there was a big scar on it and she was forcing him to see it, "So don't play victim with me, mister!"

"Victim? I'm no victim!" he spat back. "I just don't like being yelled at for things that aren't my fault! I wasn't the one hiding in the leaves, lying in wait! I was just walking around, minding my own business!"

Charlie groaned when she remembered that technically she instigated it. But being one that never backed down, "Still, man! Don't kick things around like that! Especially with that paddle that you call a foot! You never know what woodland creature could be in that pile!" She pointed to a squirrel that was in a tree, enjoying their shouting match.

"Stupid squirrel would deserve to get kicked for hiding in a pile of leaves like that," Drew argued back thought he knew deep down he'd feel really bad for hurting the little fellow. "And you keep on with my feet and we can see which is bigger- my foot or your mouth!"
And again, Drew paused. Sometimes he just forgot that Charlie was a girl...

"Ooh!" Charlie pressed on. At that point she didn't care if she was a girl, boy, or alien. "Whaddya gonna do if I don't shut up? Slap them on the lake and cause a tidal wave?" She only inched towards him and dared him to do so.

Had she been a boy, Charlie would have been on her butt for that one, but since she wasn't, Drew took a step back. "Shut up, Charlie," he told her, the best he could come up with at the moment.

"What? If I don' stop, are you gonna paddle away with your paddle feet?!" The Slytherin in her was definately showing, and showed no signs of stopping. Charlie was enjoying this. She hadn't had this much fun like this since calling Drew a nerd.

"Shut UP, Charlie!" Drew shouted again. Hitting her was out of the question, running away would brand him a coward, and in his current frame of mind, he really couldn't think of anything to come back at her with.

His protests only fueled her cruelty. Waving around her wrists and shaking her hips, she yelled to the people around them in a cheerleader-like voice. "Pad-dle Feet! Pad-dle Feet!!Drew's got some pad-dle feet!" For an added effect, she pointed at his shoes. "Aha ha ha haaaar!"

"Leave me the hell alone, Jones!" Drew shouted at her and he took another step back. His stupid big paddle feet got tangled up under him and once again, he found himself on his butt, this time, biting down on his tongue hard enough to make it bleed. He spat a big gob of red onto the scattered leaves near him and glared at Charlie.

Charlie was still on a roll until he fell. "Is Paddle feet gonna--" Watching his demise in front of her eyes, she couldn't help but just stare. Drew's glare was harsh... but she still had to break out in a smile. That would turn into snicker, which spread into a laugh.
Kneeling down next to him with the laughter caught in her throat, she fought her bad conscience and held out a helpful hand. "Jeez, you take things too seriously."
