Brittany found her self wondering into one of the three greenhouses on a pretty windy day. As she stepped in to the greenhouse she got the same feeling of beauty that she had always gotten but there was a new feeling. She couldn't really tell what it was cause it was so mixed up so she pushed it away. Looking around at the exotic and wild plants, she knew that they had already spread her entrance to all.
Taking careful steps forward she made her way to a part of the greenhouse that she remembered. It was one that Cleo and her had once been. Sitting down in the light scatter of dirt she was surrounded by some pretty plants that all looked the same. Then, she remembered that these had been the plants that Cleo had gotten to sing at some of the parties they used to have.
Thinking to herself she wondered if they would sing for her. Brittany knew that she wasn't good with plants so she didn't know how to go about getting them to sing. Going with the only way she could think of she cleared her throat and directed at the plants, "Would you sing for me? In favor of Cleo...." She held her breath watching the plants carefully, hoping they would. It was all she could do to keep from crying as they started to play a beautiful yet sad sounding song that filled the whole room.

His mind had been elsewhere lately so it was no wonder he had left his Herbology book behind in the greenhouse. He entered the plant-filled room, not really noticing anything other than what was under the tables. When he finally spied the missing volume, he snagged it and held it over his head.
"Ah HA!" he cried out in triumph as if he had discovered the thirteenth use for Dragon's blood. It was then that he took a moment to look around and he spied Brittany not far off. She looked upset. "Hey, Garland. You okay?" he asked.

Desperately trying to blink back tears at the sound of Drew's voice she drew in a deep breath. Looking up to where she was she put on a smile. Nodding her head she tried to find something, anything to say. There was not a lie that she could find that would really fool Drew, there was no way of escaping.
Finally she spoke in a very small voice a very blunt lie that she used a lot these days, "Yes, I'm fine."

Drew grinned and took a seat next to her without being invited. He and Brittany didn't alwasy get along, but she wasn't all that bad. Besides, she looked like she needed a friend at the moment... and seeing none around, he figured he would do.
"Hey, you and I should go on the road... sounds like we're both getting pretty good at singing that particular song," he told her.

Brittany laughed a little and sighed. She knew that the two of them weren't exactly the best of buddies but they seemed to be in the same boat. Or at least that was what he was saying wasn't it?
Looking to the younger boy she inquired softly, "And what has Mr. Almighty, joke loving, great guy Drew Thornton have going on that would possibly make him not okay?"

He was on the verge of telling her (if she had really thought of it, she could probably figure it out though) but decided to continue the song instead.
"Me, not okay?" Drew asked, giving her a smirk back. "I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm fine."

Brittany could see that he was playing out more tunes and could here the beautiful song of the plants in the background still. Nodding, she raised her eyebrows and picked up some dirt inbetween her fingers. Sprinkling the dirt around in a circle on back on the ground she turned her attention back to Drew.
"That's good. I mean cause for a second you had me worried there. Thinking that you actually had a problem....well now that's a very new and scary thing isn't it?" Brittany pressed on. She was trying to think of what Drew could have a problem with or what could be going wrong with him.

"New and scary? Hardly..." Drew answered with another smirk. "Everyone's got problems... even me. I just prefer not to... advertise it is all." He traced patterns in the dirt on the floor with his finger, not looking at the girl sitting next to him.

"Nor do I." Brittany simply said continuing to pick up dirt and drop it. Looking at what Drew was drawing in the sand she noted the different shapes and letters. Nothing inparticular, it looked as if he was just drawing random things that popped into his head.
Sighing she added, "Though some weird people say it isn't good to keep it all locked up inside. Strangely they say it's better to talk to someone. You one to talk out your problems?" She had never talked to Drew like this before and she found it to be quite different.

"Depends on the problem... Depends on the person... Depends on if I think I need to." Drew answered. "I mean, sometimes talking it out helps you see it from a different angle... get a different perspective... find a solution."

Brittany nodded knowing what he said was a really good answer. "And what if you're problem has no answer? What if there isn't something to be solved? If it's just there to torment you?" She asked looking down at her lap.

"Every problem has a solution," Drew answered, firmly believing it. "That's the nature of the problem- to be solved. The catch is that sometimes we don't like the solution so we refuse to accept it."

Brittany sighed and shook her head. She knew that her problem wasn't even a problem. It was more like a longing so there was no solution, just something that she'd have to get over. Just another thing to hold in and try to overlook as best as possible.
"You know all the right answers. Are you sure that you are human?" Brittany asked in a teasing manner.

"My mum says I'm part merman," Drew answered seriously, slipping unconsiously into the British pronunciation. He did that more and more often, the longer he was at Hogwarts. {and, for the record, 'getting over it' is the one solution people hate the most }

((Yeah, I guess that's true. : ) Brittany smiled at what he said. "Well isn't that a wonder. Part merman....what a great thing to be. So you like the water then?" She asked with a smirk across her face.
