They looked near zombie-ish, far contrary to the normal sixth year lessons. And he hoped ot remedy this with alittle good news, the lesson would be short and simple. As he prepared to speak, he paused, shook his head lightly and finally spoke. "Miss Diablo, if you would kindly take a seat so we can begin it would be most appreciated." He paused allowing the girl to find time, or for that matter, ambition, to sit down.
"As you are all aware its getting to the end of the year and I know just as well as you do that you don't want to be here. Thus. Today's lesson will be short, simple, and we can ll be on our ways. Self-Fertilizing Shrubs, I'm more than certain that with that alone you can figure out what they do. However, does anyone know HOW they do it?" He questioned, his left eyebrow quirking the slightest of motions upward.

Charon lifted his head slowly. The lesson was starting. He shook his head slgihtly to help wake up a bit more, and looked at the professor. He knew some of the various things muggles used to fertilize their plants, and one idea occurred to him. It was crazy and likely very wrong, but this was the magical world. Stranger things had been known to exist.
"They eat something and create their own dung to use as fertilizer?" he guessed. There was very little chance he was right, but it would at least make some people in the class smile.

"The little bugs and things that come around them actually," Allegra answered, adding onto Charon's answer, having no idea he thought it was wrong. "Aphids, fruit flies, an occasional caterpillar... They don't really eat them of course, but they do take them in and synthesis them into fertelizer."

"Wait wait wait. Are you telling me ferterlizer is nothing but dung... like animal dung. Like soil and dirt is ... wait wait wait."
Reina started to turn green. Which, as much as she loved the color, didn't look good as a skin tone.
"Oh gawd, i think I'm going to be sick."

"Soil and dirt are different," Allegra told her, looking a bit alarmed as Reina turned green. "Soil and dirt are bits of earth... minerals mostly. But yeah, most of the best fertilizers are organic waste material. Sometimes it comes from decomposing plants... and sometimes it's animal waste.

Reina glanced at the professor and started to plead with him, thought better of it and decided to plead with Allegra instead.
"Leggy please please please tell me that the ground outside isn't fertlized. I sit in that, I play in that, and occasionally I take a grass blade and put it in my mouth!"
Reina looked totally horrified.

"Well... not formally, I would think..." Allegra answered carefully. Of course it didn't take much to realize that all of the birds and beasts and insects in the world didn't exactly use a porta-pottie when they had to go.

Reina caught the hint or at least her stomach did. Reina ran from the green houses over to a corner and continued to empty her brunch. Reina hated throwing her guts up and she stayed out there trying to catch her breath. It wouldn't have been so bad if she didn't have JUST been laying around andthough she did smell something ignored it. Reina was sure she had just been playing in poo.

Allegra was a little embarassed she had been the cause of Reina getting sick and also a little worried for her friend. "It's like eating sausage... you just don't think about it if you want to enjoy it any," she said sheeepishly.

((Sorry I haven't posted. I didn't get my class list, so I didn't know where I was suppose to be. I'm trying to get caught up now))
Sonja had been sitting in the back of the class, not really paying attention to anyone, or anything. She had only looked up when she heard Reina running outside, and then she heard an even more unpleasant sound. Oh gross... Sonja thought, but she couldn't help but feel bad for her prefect. She wanted to go see if she was ok, but she wasn't sure if she was allowed. "Professor, can I go check on her?" Sonja asked, raising her hand, but not waiting for him to acknowledge her.

When Charon answered Shaw's question, she smiled. He had at least seemed to have learned something with the time he spent in the library on the subject. As Allegra explained on a further level, Rael took notes, she knew it was not really something that needed a lot of thought, but one never really knew. As the conversation continued, Rael grew a bit concerned about Reina, and unfortunately it seemed she was not doing well at all as she ran from the class.

"Vague Mr. Holler, most vague, however yes that is the general concept. Three points for the attempt, Miss Thornton, you get five for elaborating." Robert claimed, it was about this time that Miss Diablo decided it best to excuse, and relieve herself of her lunch just outside the door.
"Miss Wright, please do so, and if need be take her to the hospital wing...and for anyone else thinking of losing their lunch in my room, the status and method as to how the grounds are fertilized would be a question to ask the groundkeeper, not myself." He said. "However, on that note, can anyone tell me where, and for that matter why, this plant would be used?"

"It would be the best type of plant to use if you had weak soil," Allegra answered, glancing nervously through the doorway at Reina who still hadn't managed to return to class. "If the soil doesn't have enough nutrients to sustain plantlife, this will help. You can plant other plants around it and bingo! The other plants benifit from the fertilized soil and you now have a flourishing garden with very little work."
