For a second, the man was just staring at the pieces he drew with a small smile. So many memories, good memories. He cleared his throat and turned around, the smile still on his face. He lleviated two parchments on his desk, before enlarging them so the students could see. "Here's a brief summary for the Mayan Runes. Please try to write your name with them," he told the class. He noticed the expression on Miss Xin's face (it's a bit hard to miss). "Don't worry about making mistakes, it's all part of the learning process," he continued and walked around his desk again. He didn't want to put her on a spot. If possible, he would rather her to take the initiative to participate in the class. "Feel free to ask question. Two brains sometimes are better than one." Ash nodded, blushing furiosly. Did he see her trying to cheat off of Jack? Dang... that was the first time too- she just had bad luck! She stared intensely at her paper, as if she was going into battle or something. Slowly, her pencil pressed against it, curving and turning. She looked at Professor Mason with a stupid grin on her face. Her 'A' looked more like a smiling goldfish (the muggle snack) than anything else. But she was proud and hoped that he would be too.
She was like an eager puppy T_T.

Too busy copying down what the Professor was saying Jack didn’t even see Ash glance over at his paper. If he had he probably wouldn’t have cared anyways, because after all it was just notes and wasn’t like an assignment or anything that was going to be handed in for grading, so there was no way that it could be misconstrued as cheating. He would have been more than glad to help out anyone that needed it and would gladly let Ash see his notes if she still needed them at the end of class. At the moment though he was just concentrating on what the Professor was saying and doing. Finally it was there turn to give the translation thing a shot.
Thinking that this was going to be a blast to try and translate his name into Mayan he took out a spare piece of parchment and loaded his quill with ink. The first thing that he did was to write his name out on the top of the parchment and then break it down into syllables so that he could easily reference it when looking up at the Mayan charts. He thought that this would be the best way to go about it because then he would know almost exactly how many characters that he was supposed to have and the sounds that he was looking for.
He glanced up at the two charts and immediately located the symbol that he thought would go with the first syllable of his name and started to draw it out on his piece of parchment making sure to copy it exactly so that it wouldn’t be mistaken for another symbol.

The professor waited, hoping to see more response from the students. He expected to be bombarded with questions, since that was a chance for the students to really explore the runes on their own. But things didn't always go as one expected.
"Anyone would like to share their results?" he asked casually.

Ash had finally finished the 'h' in her first name, with her tongue slightly sticking out- it looked as if she was working hard. The 'h' looked alot like a boxing glove in this case. Ash held her paper up, little eraser shavings falling from it, she smiled at her results and looked around the classroom to see if anyone else was finished. Ash looked back to Professor Mason, " I will.." she said.
There were only two other students in the classroom so she wasn't really sure if she was supposed to stand up or not.
