It wasn't easy to be stuck in the castle under any circumstances, but to be stuck at school on Christmas when you expected to be home was especially hard. Drew had tried to make due as well as he could, but when it came down to it, it just wasn’t Christmas without a crowd.
It wasn’t too hard to snag that not-so-secret room on the seventh floor. With half the school out of commission with the pox, it wasn’t like there would be a crowd trying to get the Room of Requirement. He had made his three passes a few hours earlier, thinking of a large room, one side set up for a formal dinner, and the other set up for some casual kicking back. As he opened the door, he saw exactly what he needed for a great Christmas party.
The room was long, but not so vast as to lose a person on the far end. Wide windows lined the wall opposite the door, the glistening winter night acting as the perfect backdrop. To the right was a formal table setting, complete with candles, linen, and china, all in white. The crystal gleamed and the silver sparkled at each place while domed serving trays dotted a trail down the center of the table.
The food had to be brought in manually, and Drew not only had his clothes for the evening, but pulled two coolers, one actually filled with hot eats. Warm mushroom puffs for before dinner, a turkey with stuffing, potatoes, glazed carrots, and fresh rolls were brought out and placed under the warming domes and though he’d have to heat them up again before the guest got there, it wasn’t anything a quick charm couldn’t do. In the cooler of the two coolers he had a green salad, dressing, ambrosia, drinks, butter, fine cheeses and crackers for appetizers as well as a plate of peeled shrimp and prosciutto wrapped asparagus, and a chocolaty mousse for dessert. These he placed by the window to keep them at the right temperature before taking a look at the other half of the room.
On the left side of the door, the room was set up as a casual sitting area with big leather couches and large fluffy pillows. A pool table was set up nearby and a dart board hung on the wall opposite the windows next to a pinball machine. When dinner was over, Drew made plans to change into something comfortable, snack on whatever goodies Felicity decided to bring, and hang out with friends. But now, seeing that the room was set up properly, he needed to get himself ready.
He changed into his dark suit, blue tie, and shined shoes. Running a comb through a head of hair that would miss its Christmas cutting, he tossed his things into a handy closet before pulling out the appetizers and placing them near the sitting area. All there was to do now was to sit on the sofa as he waited for the others to arrive.

Did he want to go? Well, yes, and no. Still feeling the wearing effects of the Dragon Pox virus, not to mention, the wearing effects of his emotional turmoil for knowing what the pox had done to him was taking a heavy toll on the Hufflepuff Prefect. Being told that the green that had formed would never go away, was traumatic for the OCD, anxiety ridden teen, and Alexander hardly had enough time to prepare in the week he was being treated, for a gathering of any sort. He'd avoided all contact he could with friends, and hadn't even written to his family to update them on his status. The school was supposed to be doing that any ways, and frankly, Alexander wasn't too happy about that either. To be told by someone else that your son would have a green tinge on the back of his neck, and upper back, was probably stressing his pregnant mother out something fierce... but Alexander couldn't grasp that concept at the moment too much, for his own anxieties were kicking in. Especially after he found out why his symptoms had been so bad...
The creams and tonics he'd used for the last three and a half years had caught up with him, and instead of keeping his skin clean and bright, it worked as it's downfall, making his skin more susceptible to the pox themselves. Even helping them form quicker, and greener than they should have for what symptoms he was having. It was an utter nightmare for Cronon boy, and one he could hardly deal with.
Charming his hair, he'd grown it out a bit longer so that the back of his neck wasn't visible unless someone moved his hair, and dressing in his finest, but most casual clothing so he wouldn't have to change like the invitation said they could, Alexander looked at himself in the mirror. It took all of his strength not to collapse onto his bed and just bawl. What seventeen year old boy did that? What man did that? He held himself together... if only out of pure hatred for his life at that very moment, he stubbornly wouldn't allow himself to give in.
The invitation had come to him, and Alexander decided off the bat that he would not attend. Of course, he then rethought that when Felicity's name was seen. Yes, he knew that if Drew was hosting it, she'd be there, but it was the actual realization was what he needed. Sighing, he looked at the invitation as it now laid on his bed... seemingly laughing at him. It was just a party... nothing more... no one would notice... he was sure of it.
And yet, his gut turned and tumbled in pure agony. His last dose of the potion would be given to him the next day, but until then, he figured that his cold wouldn't completely go away. Again, he sighed, picked up the invitation and left in somewhat of a rush.... knowing that he'd turn back if he didn't just keep going, and walk straight to the party.
Arriving, and being there with Drew by himself, however, was something Alexander wasn't expecting. He expected at least five other people... one of them being Felicity, glued to Drew's side as she mostly was... well, until she saw him that was. Alexander smirked and shook his head. The girl could never figure out whom she wanted to attach herself to the most... it was somewhat amusing to the Huffle.
"Drew," Alexander greeted, a bit shakily, nodding his head as he did so. Alexander walked over to the other couch that was somewhat perpendicular to the one that Drew sat on and sat down as well. His smile was only half a smile, and the look of discomfort was obvious as another cough escaped him and he covered his mouth so nothing would get everywhere. "Holiday's going well?" he asked the other boy just to make conversation. It was that or sitting in the large room in silence... Alexander chose to talk; it beat the awkward silence any day.

He was feeling somewhat better today. Not perfect by any means, but a lot better. Of course that might have been all the herbal tea he had been drinking throughout the day in order to feel well enough to make it to the party. Tomorrow morning he would go to the Hospital Wing, but right now he wanted to be sure he could go to the party. And if this was that Dragon Pox everyone was having, he might not have been allowed to go to the party.
He was not thinking very much about it being Christmas, this was just a party to Dante. The actual day was not that important to him, especially when compared to the holiday season as a whole. He had his own celebrations he was raised to celebrate, they were tradition.
But he supposed he could learn about what everyone else enjoyed. And he figured the holiday was important to other people at the school, so he might as well make his appearance. After all, why waste a perfectly good invitation from Drewbie and Felicity?
Dressing for the occasion was not hard for him, and he decided to bring out his suit-coat for this party. It was jet black, and as he buttoned up the few buttons that it had, he contemplated a tie. No, it was just to much for something that was going to turn casual as the night went on. Under the suit coat a gray button up shirt could be seen, it's high collar tucked around the edges of the coat. His black pants matched the coat more than the shirt, but with the entire ensemble, everything worked well.
One final touch and he would be ready for the celebration. He dug through his stash of pins, finally coming to several holiday themed ones. “Ah-ha!” escaped the Ravenclaw as he pulled out the one he was looking for. A silver plated Christmas tree, complete with a gold plated star on the top.
He did nothing to his hair, aside from letting it stay where it was. It worked at any rate, and if he wasted any more time, he was sure to be late. He started the slow trek to the celebration, and found that with his feeling better tonight he was able to walk there rather quickly. Entering the room he thought it must have been earlier than he thought before. There were two people in the room, each sitting on separate couches. He recognized them both.
“Al! Drewbie! Buon Natale! Merry Christmas” he smiled as he wished them well in both languages. He then began the search for something to drink, a glass of punch or something to keep him feeling well through the night. After finding something, he wasn't sure what exactly it was but it tasted sweet, he made his way toward the two that were already there. They seemed to have started a conversation, he set himself down on the floor, laying back onto one of the giant pillows between the two couches.

A Christmas party sounded like a nice idea to Felicity. It was Drew's idea but she was more than glad to lend helping hands being it distracted her from what was going on at the school as well as it kept her mind busy and somewhat off of the unhappiness she felt about not being allowed to go home for the holidays. Being stuck at the school she wasn't happy, she was angry, disappointed, upset, frustrated, and any number of other negative feelings about the whole thing. Once more her blame could be placed on the Headmistress who the blonde didn't think was fit for such a position. Never before had she ever had problems with her Headmaster at school in London, so why all the trouble with this one? It was because she made the most horrible of decisions and she couldn't stand it at all. Though the illness wasn't the woman's fault, she had absolutely no reason to lock them away in the school. This wasn't an all-year around place of education, this was one that allowed holiday breaks. Not being allowed to see her family upset the blonde greatly, especially as this was the first she'd ever be spending without them. She'd made it through her own birthday, through Valentine's Day, through Easter and Halloween without them, but Christmas? This was different, a much more special holiday and she was being told she couldn't go home. The Gryffindor's father hadn't been at all pleased with the news, to the point where he again threatened to remove his youngest daughter from the school. He couldn't believe that a disease that had a cure ended in the lockdown of a school. With the chicken pox, as his wife compared the two diseases, notes were sent home about how best to deal with the illness, could this school not do the same? Though, Felicity knew her mum didn't tell him everything of the disease, otherwise she would be home right now. Every letter she received was angrier than the last, even her mum was angry about the decision of the Headmistress and had gone as far to inquire of Felicity if she'd rather her mum removed her from Hogwarts and instead began teaching her at home once more. In answer the blonde pleaded not to be removed. It was her last year with Drew, and she loved most of her classes and Celina. What would she do if she went back home once more? She would attend public school again, continue her lessons with her mum, she was sure her dad would require her to work weekends, she'd play her sports, and she'd be fighting for a scholarship to attend university. Felicity didn't want that. All ready nerves in her body were running a rampage like nothing else. Her letter for Drew from her dad had yet to make it to him, mostly because Felicity made sure to conveniently leave it behind, but also because she feared what it said. Never before had her dad written to Drew. Sure, her mum often told her to tell Alexander, Celina, and Drew hello for her, but even she didn't write them letters. What would her dad have to say to him? Appetite diminishing, she hadn't eaten well the last few days. However, she refused to believe the possibility of it being anything other than normal illness or the fact that January loomed just around the corner. Having helped Gryffindor students out a little bit recently, she didn't doubt that chance of her coming down with dragon pox, but she really hoped that wasn't what it was. Instead, she chose to believe January was approaching too rapidly for her tastes and that she hadn't seen her family lately. However, that evening she dressed as instructed on the invitation. Her mum made her a Christmas dress every year, which was only worn once before being buried within the depths of her closet. The reason for the dress was because she was required to wear one while singing in the Church Choir, it was the only stipulation to being allowed to sing with everyone, she needed to wear a dress. But because she would not be attending the church that year for Christmas her mum sent her the dress she made. It was an extremely simple dress, white over a silk skirt and strapless. The empire waist was something her mum rather enjoyed doing as she found it the easiest to sew, but the top was ruffled slightly and she'd added a wide white sash under the bust of the dress that tied into a big bow in the back. Accompanied by her set of silver jewelry, Felicity wore Drew's necklace, that matching earrings her dad bought her for her birthday, and the matching bracelet her dad bought her for doing so well in school. Feet were adorned with small silver heels she wasn't very comfortable wearing, but once more her den mates wouldn't allow her out without the proper shoes on her feet. They said the silver matched her jewelry and therefore looked nice on her. The outfit was complete with a large silver handbag, also forcefully thrust upon her, the only thing inside of it was her change of clothing. Thankfully she'd been down to the kitchens hours before and helped the house elves to make what she'd planned on taking for snacks after their dinner. With many promises from the elves to help her take it all upstairs, the blonde ran upstairs, readied herself and ran down them again, shoes in her hands, to gather her sweets. Colourful rice crispy treats, cream cheese christmas cookies, sugar cookies, iced gingerbread cookies, eggnog, christmas punch, a cheese ball complete with crackers, popcorn, and a mix of christmas candies. The elves were being very generous by not allowing the blonde to carry anything, they told her it was because of the colour of her dress, but she suspected it was because they really liked working. Arriving moments after Dante, the House Elves marched in with the trays of goodies while the blonde started pulling her shoes on and trying to make them fit correctly without having to sit on the floor to really get them on.

People started arriving, and while Drew got the distinct impression that Alexander really didn't like him, the Ravenclaw still stood to shake the Hufflepuff's hand properly. "Glad you could make it," he told alexander genuinely. "Mine's going well enough, I suppose. How are you managing?" Drew knew the guy had been pretty sick, evidenced by the slight green tinge that still hung on him.
Dante arrived before Alexander answered and Drew stood to shake his hand as well. He wasn't going to say anything about the Drewbie, having already been very clear about how he felt about the nick name, but he wondered if the Hufflepuff would say anything. The prefect had been very clear about his name when Drew had tried to call him Alex the previous term. Drew understood and was sure to always call the Hufflepuff Alexander.
"So you guys know each other?" Drew made sure, looking from one to the other. Then, just to be sure... and to hopefully get the other Ravenclaw out of the habit of using the wrong names, Drew intorduced them properly anyways. "Alexander Cronon, Dante Vroom. Dante, this is Alexander."
And then entered the one person he wanted to see above all else. He smiled as she entered and excused himself from the others in order to help her with what he thought would be a number of trays and dishes to juggle. It looked like she didn't need much help, though, as the line of House Elves paraded in. Drew pointed out where they should put the things before turning to the pretty blonde. "You look fabulous," he told her with a wide grin. "Alexander and Dante are already here."

Layla had taken her time getting ready for the party Drew had invited her too. Other than trying to cheer up the younger Ravens since they weren't able to go home and small talk here and there, she had spent most of the day by herself. It was one thing that she had chosen to keep her distance from her family. But it was Christmas and she had spent all of December making plans to drop in, even if it was for a little while. She wasn't sure if she had planned to apologize or explain herself, though she still thought she didn't need to. And she didn't even know if she was actually going to do it. But she had never been away from them for this long, and had certainly made the plans to do so, even if she chickened out at the last moment. The quarantine had devastated her. She was afraid of going home and facing them after just leaving and never owling, but she was going to face it. Being restricted to the castle had infuriated her, though after 3 and a half weeks of surviving the symptons of Dragon Pox, she had no desire to share it. She had tried to make her duties make up for it. There were a lot of really young students who would not be able to see their families either. She sat with them that morning, helping them open presents and telling them that their families missed them. She was only able to help out for an hour or so before she had to excuse herself to the bathroom. She spent the rest of the day... crying, but playing up her Dragon Pox symptoms to cover it up. It was about 5 o'clock when she really did feel ill again, her head clouded from the pressure applied from crying so much and her body aching from just lying in bed. Slowly, she had gotten up, showered and got ready to go down to the Room of Requirement. Slipping on a pair of simple, black flats, Layla adjusted the top of her red, babydoll dress and looked in the mirror. Despite not feeling very festive, she couldn't help but shake her head and giggle at herself. She had bought the dress without any plans of catching Dragon Pox. She still had blotches of discoloration on her arms and shoulders, easily exposed by her strapless dress. She had at least left her hair down, which helped cover up some. But before she left the girls' dorm, she picked up a small half-cut black cardigan. It wasn't what she had planned, but neither was the Pox. Picking up her messenger bag with the change of clothes she needed, she made her way down the stairs, checking herself in the mirror. Her eyes were still a bit puffy and red from crying, but again she could attribute that to the effects of the Pox, which seemed to be almost gone, but still lingering. Peeking into the room after opening the door, she saw a few people had made it there already. Seeing her friends around, she smiled shyly and walked in, dropping her bag where she saw a few others already gathered. The effort Drew had put in everything put a little life in Layla's face, and she explored a bit before shyly walking up to where the three guys were standing. Layla and Alexander and spoken here and there since their... awkward encounter in the greenhouse. It was still weird, no matter how friendly either of them were. She knew little of Dante, but seemed to be ok. If he was invited by Drew then it said something, at least. She smiled as genuinely as she could and let Drew finish his introductions. "Happy Christmas, guys" she said softly, leaning a bit on the heels of her feet.

So Christmas was here, and what did she have to show for it? Ugly, rash-like scabs all over her chest and neck. Damn scales. Thankfully, she didn't have to worry too much about making a fuss about it because she could actually put a turtleneck to use, pairing the red top to her usual black slacks. With that she figured she didn't have to worry too much about dressing into something more comfortable, as she only brought jeans and sneakers with her. Charlie had already made plans with Hiro to meet him inside the party instead of outside. At last that sounded like a more firm plan seeing as they were both getting to be late to the party. She was getting resentful of her own habits. This had to have been the third or fourth time that she was late to a Thornton-bash. "Merry Chris'mas, ya guys," she said as she came into the Room of Requirement, smiling to the arriving guests and gave a good look at everything, and instantly spotted Layla. "Hey, dude," she greeted her, and couldn't help but note her Pox battle wounds. It should have been usual to her, but it was still funny that a good deal of the students that had the scars, and so it was getting to be quite accepted. Still, she was freaked out by her scales scabs.

Drew stood, hand extended, he moved towards where Alexander was sitting on the other couch, but before Alexander could extend or even say a word, he was distracted by the movement out of the corner of his eye and the greeting that was more of an intrusion than anything else. Al? What was that kid’s problem? Had he no recollection at all about what they had previously discussed in classes about his name? They shared two classes together, and was even made to sit by each other in one of them. Alexander twitched only slightly, however, for as long as the kid had been calling him it… his twitch was becoming less and less. “Dante…” Alexander slightly growled, then looking at Drew. Alexander tried to resist rolling his eyes; that is, he tried to restrain until Drew introduced the two of them.
Alexander leaned back in his seat and just shook his head at the kid whom sat on the pillow, ignoring the house elves that soon followed the Ravenclaw. Whoever Drew was talking to escaped Alexander at this time, for he had not seen anyone actually enter but the house elves. Not to mention, he was slightly distracted by conversation of his name at hand. “How many times, Dante… I mean, my name isn’t really that hard to say…” Alexander said to him, cutting himself off slightly as another entered the room, this time a red flash of something catching his eye.
As Alexnder looked over his shoulder, another Ravenclaw entered. One more that he really couldn’t stand… sighing, Alexander tried not to find anything attractive about the girl that wore a red, strapless dress. Gulping hard, he sunk down slightly, almost in an effort to hide from the brunette. Of course, he knew it wouldn’t slightly work, just as their encounters when they had spoke had been just as hard to avoid. Being cornered into their slight conversations, Alexander had remained pleasant, and tried to keep his distance so he wouldn’t look anymore sketchy than he always felt around her.
She greeted everyone, and then another walked in. Someone he wasn’t sure if he knew too well, but he couldn’t quite remember her name. Alexander was shifting in his skin something terrible and scratched the back of his neck nervously. Standing, Alexander greeted both girls with a nod, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Ladies,” he said and turned back to Dante. “It’s Alexander… Completely. Just for one night… won’t you?” he gave the guy a look, and sighed. It’s like he’d never win… not at Hogwarts any ways…

Finding it easier to lean up against one of the corridor walls, Felicity started strapping the shoes on, barely lifting her eyes to watch as a couple of others passed her to enter the room. Of course, she heard Drew say something right after the House Elves entered, and she was pretty sure he said something about looking fabulous, but she wasn't entirely sure. The wall thankfully didn't seem to be tainted with anything to ruin the colour of the dress, and Felicity was grateful, knowing how much work her mum put into making her Christmas dresses even if Felicity despised them.
However, her dad wouldn't allow her to attend church for Christmas if she wasn't dressed in something more feminine than her normal dress slacks and nice shirts so her mum had gotten into the habit of making the blonde a dress every year, only so Felicity would wear it once and then that was that, the dress was put into storage and never seen again.
As for the House Elves, they followed Drew's directions and quickly made haste at getting the platters where they were directed to go before leaving with low bows to everyone, making their long noses land only centimeters from the floor and disappeared.
With her shoes on firmly, the blonde walked carefully into the room, and smiled at everyone who was there. Drew, Dante, Alexander, Layla, Charlie, at least it was a good turn out so far, and if Charlie was there hopefully that meant Hiro would arrive, too.
"Hi everyone," she greeted, trying to balance in the shoes on her poor feet. Trainers still didn't go with her dress so she was told, but she didn't understand why she was being told to wear heels either, especially when she all ready did enough falling on her own account without help from anything or anyone else.

He had received an invitation. The unfamiliar scrawl caused the Slytherin to draw a blank. Who would be writing to him? Upon opening it and discovering that it was an invitation to a Christmas party. Who was hosting, he wasn't exactly sure, but he had the feeling it was something to do with Drew and his gang generally consisting of Felicity and Celina. Connor wasn't sure if a party was advisable when people were still getting sick and getting better from the pox, but he knew it was likely that he would attend despite all of that. It wasn't likely that he would get sick, as he had already had the pox when he was younger, but he didn't want other people to get sick due to the gathering. He decided that he would go. Even if he didn’t know anyone else there, he could just about guarantee Celina being there.
Attire for the evening was a bit harder for Connor to decide upon. He finally picked a bit more of a casual look, his outfit including a nice pair of black dress pants and shoes. Underneath his black partially buttoned blazer he wore a white t-shirt with the Bright Eyes label on it in dark green and red. The outfit was casual enough for Connor to be comfortable, but also dressed up enough for the party he would be attending. As he got things ready for the evening he remembered that hand written bit of the invitation, bring something to chance into for after. His outfit was casual enough that all he had to bring to change into was a pair of jeans and a pair of his converse high tops. He stood in the Slytherin bathrooms, looking at himself in the mirror. He ran his fingers through his hair, smoothing it down slightly and making it a little bit more tidy then it looked before. He grinned slightly, it was the combination of the Bright Eyes shirt and the blazer that seemed to pull the outfit together, in a strange way. He liked it, and decided that it was about time to leave.
Before leaving the Slytherin commons, though, Connor made sure he grabbed everything he would need. He checked his black and green checkered back pack, seeing that he had a pair of jeans, a comfortable pair of converse shoes, and a couple packs of butterbeer. He hadn’t been instructed to bring anything, but it would be nice to do anyway. He opened up the side pocket and made sure that his present for Celina was still securely there. He hadn’t told her about the gift, but had hopes of surprising her about it.
Once everything was in place, Connor grabbed his back pack and set off. Walking up the many flights of stairs to the Room of Requirement wasn’t hard for the Slytherin, but it did give him time to be nervous about the whole evening. He didn’t have anything to worry about, but that didn’t stop him. Finally he found his way to the instructed place and entered the room. It was nice, one side set up for formal dining, the other half of the room less formal looking, probably for just hanging out afterwards. It was a rather well thought out set up, and Connor was rather impressed with it. He only actually knew two of the people in the room, Drew and Felicity, and even then he didn’t know the former all that well. He knew he could safely call Felicity his friend, but he didn’t know too much about the other occupants of the room. " Hey, everyone. " He said with a smile despite the fact that he felt a little uneasy.

Felicity walked past him without a word and he thought it was odd, but didn't stress over it. He was more concerned about where Hiro, Celina, and Seanna were, the other three who had been invited, but still had not shown up. Fortunately, there were enough appetizers to hold them over. If the others didn't show up, they'd still start dinner on time.
"Hey, can I get anyone something to drink?" Drew asked, doubting anyone would ask for anything harder than a butter beer. Alexander seemed to be having a familiar discusion with Dante and while Drew couldn't help but smirk, he hoped it didn't get heated. Again, he doubted either boy would take it there.
"Do you guys all know each other?" he asked on the heels of his other question and then made the rounds of names, just in case. "Alexander, Dante, Layla, Charlie, and Connor." He was pretty sure everyone knew him and Felicity since they had done the inviting.

He frowned, almost angry that Alexander was getting so upset over such a simple thing. Had he not just wished the Huffle a Merry Christmas after all? What happen to a simple well wishing back? How very rude, it wasn't like Dante intended to hurt his feelings after all. But this guy just seemed to be upset over nothing.
“Well Al, I'm glad you know your complete name” he let out a laugh and grinned. “But I suppose I could try and call you Alexander today, just for you. Consider it a Christmas present, as I wasn't able to get presents for everyone sadly.” His grin turned to a frown as he continued “but you can't hold it against me if I slip a few times, habit after all.” He got back up from his pillow and began to walk away, “perhaps though it would be best if I remember your full name from somewhere else in the room.”
He didn't want to make a big scene at a party, especially with someone he'd have to see in classes later on anyway. That, and it was a Christmas party, and not even his. He had only just been invited the night before by Felicity. “Already got my drink Drewb-” catching himself he forced the cup to his mouth and sipped rather than finish the name.
More and more people came into the room. This really was an important holiday for people at Hogwarts, and Dante had a lot to learn about it. He knew he might have started the party off on the wrong foot with Al and Drewbie, but perhaps he could make amends somehow. It would all work out, anyway he had more people to wish well. “Buon Natale to all that just entered!” He took his half empty glass and saluted toward the rest of the gathering.
He grinned as Andrew introduced the rest of the guests, he vaguely knew the faces, a few of the names even. Best to get acquainted with new people anyway, he'd have to start somewhere. Only a few minutes in the party and he felt out of place, maybe accepting the invitation from Felicity was a bad idea after all.

It may have been a little selfish but this winter break was one of the best yet. Hiro didn't celebrate Christmas so when most of his friends went home to celebrate the holiday Hiro stayed at the castle or in Hogsmeade to work. This year however he wouldn't be spending it alone due to the quarantine of the school during the break. Yes it wasn't fair to most who usually went home for the holiday and Hiro did feel bad for them but he was also happy his friends were around.
There was an old saying of how nice someone can look when they clean themselves up; this went twice for Hiro, a boy who usually had a head of uncombed hair and wrinkled but clean clothes on. With his orange hair tamed and styled in a way a former ravenclaw had showed him it was like he was a new person. His clothes only enhanced his new look, pressed and elegant he might have looked a little overdressed for the party. In his hand he carried his fancy walking cane, a gift from his father, it was black in the middle and had a silver tip as well as a silver eagle head for the handle. The only thing that he had kept from his normal outfit was the blindfold that covered his eyes.
"Good evening everyone." He greeted, most of the voices he recognized though a few he wished he had known better.

Layla had tried not to show too much expression on her face as she heard the exchange between Alexander and Dante after the former had acknowledged them. She was trying to hold back a fit of giggles, but was luckily saved by Charlie's arrival. "Dudess," she replied with a soft grin, having decided it was the only response that really fit sometimes. She nodded politely to everyone as they started to arrive and join in, returning their holiday wishes.
She knew everyone by name at least, there were only a few she didn't really know. Dante seemed to be excited to be there at least, so she tried to just feed off his energy to get out of her own funk. After Drew mentioned it, Layla had gotten herself a drink. So at least she now had something to sip on as she watched quietly.

As Drew did a round of introductions, Felicity sidled up closer to Alexander, wanting to wish him happy holidays, especially since he was the closest to family she had at the school. Having known one another for so many years, their families so close, it made things kind of nice, especially when she wanted to be with her family as badly as she did. Smiling at Dante as she passed him, him leaving the side of her favourite Hufflepuff and she going ot him, the quietest of a "happy holiday" was said to the Ravenboy. They'd spoke the night before about Christmas and traditions, she hoped he'd have a nice time at the party adn get in some good research while at it.
"Happy Christmas Alexander," she greeted her friend, slipping an arm though his. Normally the blonde would call him the day after, asking him how it all went, but it was kind of nice being able to ask him the day of in person, despite the fact it meant not seeing her family. "How has your day gone?"
Felicity had actually slept in, for the first time in an extremely long time, she felt the need to not get up early in the morning, race through Gryffindor at top speed, nor did she feel the need to shout Merry Christmas to every face, instead she chose to spend a good amount of time in the library and then the kitchens. It was nice to have the party to kind of look forward to, to be able to talk to people she knew for a little while and enjoy herself hopefully.
Declining the offer of a beverage, Felicity turned her full attention to the Hufflepuff boy to talk to him while Drew talked to their other guests, and she tried waving Dante closer, despite the fact he had just wandered from the spot. She wanted to talk to the boy as well, to see how much he'd learned through observations that day so far. And her eyes got caught on another face from her year and she quickly began waving Connor closer as well. Felicity had forgotten she was supposed to deliver a message, and she hadn't quite remembered but the lioness was excited over seeing Connor at their get together.
