How can people afford this?

As Devlin entered through the enormous doors he realized that this must be the largest place he had ever seen. Some of the skyscrapers back home might have matched its height but they were all square shaped and didn't expand like this place did. Overall he felt this place was too fancy for its own good. He'd have to get a better look at the place but he had to take care of his things first.

"You there." Devlin snapped his fingures and called to some elves that were obviously busy with another task. "Take my things to the Slytherin commonroom."

[arianna]

"Excuse me," Arianna paused at the bottom of the steps and stared at the boy, her eyes slightly narrowed. She was surprised to see any house elves about at this time of day. They usually took care of the castle in the dark of the night, when no one would see them. "They won't take orders from you unless the headmistress has told them to. Untill then, I suggest you take care of those bags yourself."

"It's their job to help out their superiors. That's why they're in this castle." Devlin reminded the sympathetic girl. "Perhaps you forgot this basic fact."

[Allegra Thornton]

"And since when are we superior to elves?" Allegra asked, stopping halfway down the staircase as she heard the new boy speaking to Arianna. This boy exuded all of the snobbery that most pure-blood families had when they had little else besides their blood line to fall back on.

[Michael Rolen]

Mike looked down from the top of the staircase and laughed at the boy

"Pure Blood Supremisist are we?"

He said out aloud as he walked down the staircase towards the boy. He nodded to Ari and Allegra

"Ari, Allegra"

He said greeting them with a smile before turning back to the boy

"How bout you lug your sorry arse down to the dungeons where you Slytherins belong"

[Allegra Thornton]

"And you can stop being such a prejudiced git, Mike," Allegra answered back. Just because the new boy was a snob didn't give Mike the right to refer to the whole house as 'you Slytherins.'

Allegra hated house prejudice almost as much as blood-line predjudice.

[arianna]

"Nooo. They're job is to care for the castle," Arianna corrected the boy. She afforded Allegra and Mike small nods before turning back to Devlin. "And to fix our meals. As for anything else, you can take care of that yourself."

[archersiegel]

"Last I checked mankind is the dominant speices on the planet, Meaning that all other creatures are lesser." Devlin countered to the bombardment of predjudice accusations. "And according to a letter sent to me by the school, slytherin isn't the only house in the dungeons...Isn't that right neighbor?" He directed at the boy.

[Allegra Thornton]

"That's actually backwards thinking," Allegra answered the new boy about humans being the dominant species. "Most learned people realize there's no such thing as a dominant species as we are in a symbiotic relationship with one another. If one goes, we all go. Just because we're bigger doesn't make us better."

She smirked as the boy reminded Mike that Huffles were in the dungeons too. Touche...

[Michael Rolen]

Mike smirked at the boy

"Not so far into the dungeons as you Snakes"

Mike muttered, before turning his head and looking at the house elves standing nervously near them

"It's alright, we'll take it from here"

He said to them, before turning back to Allegra

"I have never heard truer words in my life"

He said to her comment about humans being bigger didn't necessarily make them better than any other race....be it house elf or goblin

[Allegra Thornton]

"Yet you still think you can order them around too," Allegra pointed out. "Acting like the big human saviour ready to protect the poor widdle elves from da mean ole' Slytherin. You're being just as condecending as he is!" She huffed at the boys and looked over at Ari.

[Michael Rolen]

"What"

Mike exclaimed

"I wasn't ordering them to do anything"

He found it funny how at one minute Allegra and himself could get along and then the next they would be at each others throats

Devlin found this very entertainning, here so many people jumped to defend the elves and they couldn't even agree on one thing.

"If one goes we all go." He repeated. "You mean like the dinosaurs right? Yeah they sure went down there and no creatures survived that did they?" He had a sarcastic tone in his voice.

[arianna]

"If I remember right...and do correct me if I'm wrong," Arianna started, placing a finger on her chin. "Only the small creatures survived. The ones who didn't depend on other animals to keep them alive. Since you seem to need the house elves assistance to keep you breathing....Well, you can see where I'm going with this, I'm sure."

"I would agree with you if you were right." She was trying to point out that he wasn't a survivor. "However modern day reptiles were also around during that time and although they were smaller than the large dinosaurs they are not to be considered small. They did prey on the smaller creatures and to this day have barely changed after all these years."
