"Of course it isn't! What bloody idiot would leave a dead body lying in the middle of nowhere?" Eleanor stated, as she walked in, with an angry look on her face.
All of this, this whole entire situation of the murder, was thrown at her like a pile of bricks. How could this happen? How could it be? Eleanor didn't know the answer. No one really did either.
Eleanor stood against the wall, with her arms folded neatly. She was not at all pleased as how this could go by. There must have been proper security, so there was no blame on them. But then again, how did she know? Eleanor wasn't there, she had to stay back with all the students who didn't go on the trip. Eleanor wasn't going to suggest something until she got a clear answer.

It had been at least a forty-five minutes, perhaps an hour or so when Tamis had finally wiggled her way back into the school. It would be both mild and forgiving to say that the woman was not exactly looking like her dignified self at the moment. First she had been questioned by the flammable aurors, an order she was beginning to despise since she left them, then the press had swarmed in. Already under physical strain from her hike on foot to Hogsmeade and the obvious emotion, a mood swing had conveniently overcame her, and she -- in the nicest way possible, of course -- told them all to bugger off unless they wanted to take her into custody, of which they should be done with it then. Actually, she believed it had been those exact words.
So, Tamis staggered into the staff room; hair in disarray and aged fifty years in an half hour. Stress was not a good thing at the current, not a good thing at all, especially in her current condition. But yet it was inevitable.
Had she been in any other circumstances, Tamis might have added a tally next to her name on the scoreboard against Doggerel, seeing as he was getting more than one evil eye. The cause of which she could not phantom. That on top of the caretaker's outburst caused one of Raynor's eyebrows to at least take on the semblance of an arch in question. The topic of current discussion was at least easy to surmise.
Eyes looked her way, she spotted her husband and gave him a nod and a small smile. She was all right. At least for the current.
"The Headmistress is on her way," she told them, surprised to find her voice steady and firm at that, "she is with the witnesses. Avery Thorne is dead, her body is in Ministry custody. The next few weeks are going to be rocky, we are going to need to keep our heads about us. Not only for the students but for the school. So for Merlin's sake, stop bickering or I will lock each and everyone of you up with the students, you are not acting any better!"
The Deputy rubbed at her temples. Mood swings and pressure did not agree. She was under much worry, yes, especially for the students. Whom else would the ministry try to blame with current events as they were?

Elliot Doggerel returned the hateful looks with equally acidic glares. They were all imbeciles. Merlin knew that since his arrival at the school that fall, he wasn't going to be winning any popularity contests at this school, but it seemed that at the slightest provocation logic completely desserted this staff. They were emotional and self-righteous the whole bloodly lot of them. Raynor/Gallaudet was probably an exception - she was just a harpy, a former Auror at that.
But finally his question was answered to his satisfaction. The Ministry had Avery's body. But he bristled violently at Raynor's tone of voice.
"And we're to wait here and do what, exactly? Babysit? I'm a professor, not an underling. None of this is in my job description, not now that you've forcibly sealed Slytherin. Have you any idea what those heathens are likely doing to the bookshelves?" he ranted back at the Deputy.

"Probably tearing out their pages, piling them up, and partaking in ritual dances around it as they set them on fire," she continued to rub at her temples. No, she was not on the verge of tears or anything close, the entire thing simply made her tired and gave her one large headache. The Deputy had not dealt with a situation like that in years.
"I don't have the students in mind? If half of you have been following the Prophet, who are they going to blame for this? It was a Hogsmeade Trip, a Professor was killed in the Shrieking Shack. Five students were seen exiting. Whom will be blamed, Elliot? And what house will be the first suspected?"
It was merely the truth, and one that she hoped she had not been alone in seeing it. It was half the purpose of gathering the staff here first. They would need to be dispatched quickly, but their were other complications that needed addressing, hopefully by Fiona.
"We will release HoHs soon enough, please, for the love of Merlin, don't argue. If the common room is burning down, it will have to hold off for a few more minutes."

The entrance of one Deputy Headmistress, Tamis Raynor, was, of course probably only adding more fuel to an already out of hand fire. The female to male ratio was already too many to too few, not that he counted Doggerel on much of either list. He had his own category, Wall.
Reluctantly his vendetta ceased at the confirmation of the situation at hand, not that the Magizoologist's opening remarks had actually left him doubtful. They were staff, not only such, but it was a long way's shy of April Fool's Day. "Alright...first thing to be done would be to make sure all of the students are indeed actually in the common rooms...they take priority for certain. " Robert began, his eyes scanning over each one, having calmed, somewhat from his tempered peak.
"After that, well, I may be Ravenclaw alumni, but I'd rather hear something from other than my own lips..."

Five students were seen exiting. Whom will be blamed, Elliot? And what house will be the first suspected?" Elliot brought his fist down on the table. "What are you suggesting!" he demanded, plainly not needing an answer. It was quite clear that the Slytherins and vis a vis himself would be taking heat for this. He stood from his seat and was in the ex-Auror's face in a moment. But he found he was unable to utter a sound that did not involve some sort of slanderous comment about her mother. Deciding against saying anything at all, he strode to the door, roughing bumping one of his collegues. "I'll not be sequestered anywhere without a writ and a wand to my throat," he declared hotly. And with that, he excused himself to deal with his heard of suspects.

Cody had just seen her body off. He still couldn't believe that his sister was dead. She had been on Hogwarts time, doing Hogwarts work. He had no mind to put any charges on the school. He did, however, know who was behind it. Or rather he had a strong feeling as to who it was.
He had been told to drop by the Staff Antechamber when was finished with the official investigation of the site. He had been notified of the.....issue almost immeidatly by a student. He was, sadly enough, the first to arrive on the scene. He had turned everything over to the Aurors and headed up for the Castle.
As he was almost to the door, he saw the Head of Slytherin storm out with an angered look on his face. The old man shrugged it off and quietly knocked on the door before pushing it open.
"Good day, Professors. The...body has just been taken to Saint Mungo's for official examination. I thank you all for your cooperation in this....matter."
The man's voice was far softer than it usually was. Usually he spoke very firmly and almost barked when angered. Now...he was sad.

Bansk sighed quietly as the comments continued to fly back and forth between the other staff members. He had opened his mouth quite a few times but closed it after thinking through what he might be getting himself into. The last thing he needed was to be involved in the quarrel. There was enough on his mind. What he was going to tell the Gryffindors, how he was going to handle their panic. He was sure they were at least not burning the place down. But the common room had seen it's fair share of paint in the past.
As Doggerel exited the room, Banks rubbed his forehead. He could tell this was going to be a long next couple of days, weeks, perhaps months if it got to be that serious. But soon enough another man entered the room. Whom he was not familar with.

The knock itself announced that whomever was at the door was not staff. Had they been, they would have simply brisked in like everyone else. He was,, in lew of better description, foreign and unknown to him. Which only made his right hand leave the table and move to the wand in his pocket. Unknowns bothered him, especially unknowns not on the school's staff.
Elliot was gone, which only lightened the tension int he room by a good deal, the man had no right putting the dead, the sutdents, and the school after something of personal value. No right at all. Still...the matter at hand had to be dealt with, regardless. His vendetta could always pick up another day, in another location.

Cody had nothing more to say to the group of staff as a whole. He had checked-in with Fiona and alerted the Headmistress that the issue was being dealt with. He had quite a few things to deal with when he returned to the Manor. With a curt nod, Cody weakly smiled to the group. "Well, again, I thank you for your cooperation. I am told that the Ministry will be sending over a few agents to keep an eye on the school. Fiona has been notified. Oh, yes, and Tamis, there will be a meeting of the..."He paused for only a brief second, "Bridge Club on Tuesday night at 7 o'clock. To be held at Catherine's Manor. If you could grace yourself, we would be in bliss. Good day, Professors."
With what could have been taken as a wink, Cody turned and left the antechamber. He leaned on his cane very heavily now. The times had changed over night and he was not happy.

Bridge club?! This is no time to be discussin social gatherings.... Robert thought bitterly as the man departed just as quickly as he'd entered. It seemed to random that in this time and hour, the man would bring up a Bridge Club date, plus, the man had hesitated as though searching, what the heck was going on? His Ravenclaw-ness was out again, he wanted to know what was going on, and now.
"Bloody nutter..." He found himself muttering after the man had left, turning his gaze once more to the rest of the staff. He was beginning to have second thoughts on having returned to Hogwarts. Many second thoughts.

Oh, the infuriating man! Had Elliot seen the gaze that had sharpened on him as he walked out, he might have died on the spot. However, she just gave her head a shake and sighed.
"He's probably the most sane one among us. Banks, Roxanne, it might be best if you head to your houses immediately as well. Do not tell the students anymore than they need to know. The Ancient Runes Professor died during the Hogsmeade Trip and we need to keep everyone in their common rooms until the threat is--"
A man walked into the room, and already on edge, Tamis found herself having to put away her wand when she saw it was not a person of threat. She had not even remembered taking it out. However, it was a man by all rights should not have been at Hogwarts, not even able to get in under current conditions.
The idiot did not explain his presence, addressed her by name and came up with an absurd message and walked out. She stared after him for a moment.
"Unless my eyes mistake me, that was a Wizamgot official from the Ministry. The Headmistress must have let him in to check on things to keep the rest of his cronies at bay. Though as to what nonsense he was muttering..." Tamis frowned and shrugged. "Not of importance. But yes, Banks, Roxanne, please report to your houses. I ask of you to stay with them until this mess is over. I'll be joining Ravenclaw in a moment."

Becca was stunned beyond words, barely aware that Ryder was standing next to her. She ignored the bickeringand only half heard what Tamis was talking about. When the door opened again, she looked up at the strange man, instinctively reaching for her wand. She was a bit surprised that the he had gotten into the school, even if he had been a Chief official and the deceased's brother. The cryptic message didn't get past Becca either... the social gathering... the strange wink... seemed so odd in the aftermath of the murder of a family member.
He either did it or has gone insane with grief... she surmised before looking over at Ryder and smiling weakly.

Roxanne nodded to Tamis, and briefly looked over to the other professors. Certainly with most of them there, this matter shouldn't take too terribly long to fix...right?
Without looking to the Gryffindor Head of House, Roxanne made her way to the door and down the hall. Hopefully, her house wasn't in too much of a ruckus with being stuffed and forced into their common room.

Ryder took in a deep breath. He had no students to watch over, no classes to prepare. What was one to do in his situation? Head back to the library and organize his books for the upteenth time? That wouldn't help the school any. Nor would keep himself distracted from thinking he should have known, should have done something.
"Are you okay?" Ryder asked his question again as he turned to Becca. He reached a hand toward the woman's shoulder in a gesture of comfort, but immediately pulled it back. He still had images of himself getting hit if he dared do any such thing and did not wish it happen here in front of his fellow professors.
