Now, Felicity was even more confused. A look of bewilderment was on her face, she didn't have the faintest of clues of what he was asking her. How did their conversation go from what she was thinking to such disrespectable intentions?
"If anyone ever did that to Cherry, I'd...well...they wouldn't live to see another day," she told him. But how did what she was talking about, holding Celina, go into something of the sort? But even then, she wouldn't have held Cherry, she would've attacked the man.
"Drew, I don't understand what you're talking about." It was that simple, what she'd seen from across the hall was the faceless figure demanding Celina's wand, and she didn't understand how what Drew was saying fit into it all.

"I wanted her away from him," Drew said softly, choking on his words as his emotions tried to get the best of him. "I couldn't do anything but try and get her away... if I did anything else, he would have hurt Hannah and Jeremy... he would have gone after my cousin." The man's intentions had been very specifically aimed... Celina first and then the first years hiding under the table.
And Drew broke. He couldn't do anything right. He couldn't keep Celina safe, Jeremy had been threatened, Allegra was trapped at the head table, Ari was missing, Felicity was mad at him, and he was under the table like the first years, his only defence a borowed wand he dared not to use lest it get taken too.

And confusion reigned supreme again.
Before responding, she knew she had to take a minute to figure it out. It'd been a promise she'd made to him, and it was her resolution for the New Year, so far it didn't seem to be going very well at all. All Felicity could figure was that Drew wanted Celina away from the faceless person, but what did that have to do with someone whispering into Cherry's ear? She just didn't know what the connection was.
Felicity knew who both of the one's he next talked about were, Jeremy had been cutie number one, and Hannah she'd met with on a couple of occasions. Hadn't they given up their wands, wasn't that the safest course of action for both of them? And why did he think someone was going to go after the first years?
What Drew did next she hadn't expected, it wasn't something she thought he would do, and she felt terrible that the only thing she could really do was hold onto him tighter, even if she still didn't understand.
But she also knew she had done something to make him break down, and that felt even worse than anything else. "I'm sorry," she said softly, not sure what else there was to say. She didn't understand, and she didn't want to make him any angrier than he already was with her.

"I can't do this... I don't know what to do..." he gulped, trying his best to get himself under control, cursing the idiot who thought it would be funny to give him a badge. He was supposed to be a leader, not hide under a table, letting his fear get the best of him. The adreniline he had felt when it all started seemed to have drained taking any last bit of energy he had had along with it.
He held onto her tightly, knowing the scent of her would calm him down, but worried of sticking a runny nose in her hair. He loosened one arm and wiped his face on his shoulder before returning it around her. Just having her close seemed to help a little.
"I'm scared..." he admitted, speaking softly, hoping the secret was safe with her. "I promised I'd watch out for them... but I don't know what to do... Jeremy under the table, but he says no... that guy getting up on Celina and she still goes off to the loo... I don't know what you want me to do... Don't know where Ari is and Nic's buggin... I leave Hiro to check on you and you're mad at me... I can't... I don't know what to do..."

It was close to being heart-wrenching for her, to have him be like that. Drew had told her a bit about what he'd gone through before, concerning the Deva, and that's what they were, weren't they? They were Deva, had to be, what other group of people were interested in taking over a magical school that had the guts to do such? She doubted very few, if any. And she was sure he was probably one student of very few who knew what capabilities they had, to what extent they would go through to get what they wanted, or needed even.
When he briefly let go of her, she sank into him more, needing what comfort she could get from him, though she wasn't sure if she could provide any of such back, still unsure of whether he was angry with her. The way he spoke wasn't in the least comforting, if he didn't know what to do...then who did? Drew was always the one who knew what to do, he had an answer for everything, even the silliest of things. And only next to him, in her eyes, was Corey. When he re-wrapped his arm around her, she held on even tighter, burying her face into his neck, looking for the spot on him that she knew wouldn't have moved, that she knew was more than comforting for her nerves.
"Drew, we're all scared," she told him, feeling it was probably the closest to the truth, no other word seeming to really fit to what they all were. No, she couldn't actually speak for every single person in that room, but she had a feeling her guess was as good as any for the majority. Of course, his secret would be safe with her, she wouldn't be the person to tell another that Andrew Thornton was scared, frightened.
"And the best you can do for them is to keep them safe, make them follow orders that are not harmful," she added. "Make sure they don't do something brash, act upon their own fears. To tell them they need to think of each other, because if they don't, then they're going to get someone hurt." It was how it happened, people became insane, acted upon something they found to better themselves, but had not thought something completely through and would hurt someone else in the process of their own plan.
Felicity didn't understand what he meant about Jeremy, she got that he was under the table, but what did he say no to? And what did he mean about Celina? "Celina is fine, I'm sure. She probably just didn't feel well, I really don't think they're going to be willing to clean up someone else's mess, and I doubt they would stop her from using the loo."
"What do you mean Ari's missing?" she asked, not pulling away from her in her concern, as she'd finally found the spot and wasn't about to move if she could help it. True, she had heard the conversation earlier between Corey and Drew about the Ravengirl, but did they mean she wasn't anywhere to be found in the Hall? And Nic, she hadn't ever met him, but she knew who Drew meant. "I'm sure Nic will be just fine, as I'm sure Ari is fine, but you really have no idea where she is?"
And she had already tried to explain to him, she didn't want him to put his arms around Celina, but she was too exhausted to go through it again, she'd just have to deal with it. If he wanted to put his arms around her, Felicity would deal with it in her own way, but if she said something o did something, she wasn't sure he'd forgive her for it.
Softly kissing his neck on the spot where she was at, Felicity pulled back and looked right up at him. "I am not mad at you. I promise, I'm not mad, just...a little...overwhelmed."

Everything she said, he already knew, but it helped to hear it stated clearly and calmly instead of in a rambling mess like what was running through his head. He had failed at keeping Celina safe, but he didn't dare mention that. His own senses were coming back enough to know that he shouldn't voice his concerns about that particular Ravengirl.
"Ari never made it to the feast. She's probably stuck on an upper floor." Ari was smart and Drew was sure she was safe. Again, he felt it was better not to mention too much about that Ravengirl either.
"I need you to not be mad at me right now... I can't do it if I don't even have that..." he said again, knowing she had said it a dozen times already, but needing to hear it again. He was sure most of them were feeling overwhelmed at the moment and none of them could get through any of it on their own.

If that was where Arianna was, she may or may not have been safer than they were right there in the Hall. If she truly was not in the Hall, had not been caught up in the mayhem, she could very well have some kind of an advantage, but only if she wasn't discovered. If Nic was going a bit ballistic, and that's how it had sounded, they would need to keep him quiet, it would do no good for the Deva to have suspicions that students were missing from the Feast.
Did he really believe he couldn't make it through this ordeal without her being not mad at him? Felicity knew he was much stronger than that, she knew that no matter how she felt, he would be able to push through this. He was not dependent on her, but it felt nice that he would lead his words into such things.
"I'm not mad at you," she reiterated, yet again, pulling herself as close to him as she could, pressing her temple into his cheek, so her soft words would reach his ear. "I'm sorry if I did something, but I promise, I'm not mad." She understood that he probably was, as much as she didn't want him to be, but she truly was not mad.

"I'm sorry too," he said, and while he still wasn't really sure what he had done, he was sorry that whatever it had been had made her so upset. For the moment he would chalk it up to a huge misunderstanding (they seemed to have a lot of those) and they would talk it out later when there weren't so many other things taking their focus.
"I'm not mad either," he told her, knowing he had probably given her that impression by going off on the stupid necklace. He still hated the fact that she wore it, but he wasn't going to be a demanding jealous type over it, especially since it made her happy.

Nodding her head slowly, she didn't want to go back into it, not now. While she still didn't believe he really understood what she was telling him, she was willing to drop it, as long as he was. She was willing to take what he had offered as an apology, even though she still doubted he knew what had upset her so much.
"You promise?" she asked, needing reassurance that he truly was not mad at her. However, she couldn't understand how he wouldn't be, with everything that had just happened, how could he not be mad at her? Especially when she was still wearing the locket Lucas gave her.
Sammy's picture was what really made the golden necklace for her, she wasn't fond of gold, she wasn't the type to really where jewelry, finding it to be a hassle at times, but she really did like it. But, since Drew didn't, and truly she didn't want him upset with her, she decided she would be taking it off, and she wouldn't wear it again. Not if it upset him that much. However, the pockets of her robes were pretty well filled at the moment, and she didn't want to lose the locket. So, it would remain around her neck until she was able to safely put it away somewhere. Felicity still believed things would turn out all right, at least at the moment she did, she would believe it for Drew.

Drew nodded back, giving a long sniff, and wiped his face on his shoulder again. He had been frustrated with the situation, still was a little frustrated over everything, but he wasn't mad at her. He had been thinking that a lot of it was just the tension of the situation and once they were out of it, they could talk it out without going crazy and maybe understand what the other meant.
He gave another sniff and pulled her in tighter, feeling better with her so close. Even if she was the one in his lap, it made him feel safer.

The nod may have been considered so insignificant to anyone else, but to Felicity it meant close to the world. His promises were good, she knew that, and if he was promising he wasn't mad, then she knew he wasn't.
Her own arms didn't come from around him as she lowered her head slightly, again taking up search for that one spot on his neck. As often as she searched for, she knew in the back of her mind that she knew exactly where to find it, but she enjoyed the search, closing her eyes, and just looking for it. And when Drew tightened his grip, pulling her in to close whatever gap there was between them, she didn't stop him.
While he may have felt safer with her there, it was nothing, she was sure, to the comfort she felt with him holding her. Another thing she didn't like about him with his arms around Celina, in a way, she didn't want to share that feeling.
"Do you think you have a good chance of getting at those ears?" she asked, quietly, not wanting him to leave yet and afraid he would if they didn't have something to discuss.

It took him a moment to figure out what she was talking about, especially while she was nuzzled so close to his own ear, but he nodded once he figured out she was talking about the network he and Hiro had set up. They had been laid out years ago, checked and maintained on a regular basis, used mostly to spy on the professors, especially when someone they knew was getting busted.
"There's enough lining that hallway that it shouldn't be too hard," Drew told her. His nose had cleared up enough where he could smell the vanilla in her hair again. "A couple of trips to the bathroom and we'll have plenty."

"You don't think they'll get suspicious of you guys loitering?" she asked softly, believing they'd have to spend a moment or two in the hall to at least get to their toys. If they had the amount of Deva that were currently in the Great Hall as it was, just how many were outside of it? There had to be more, plenty more.
And while a trip or a few to the loo were completely necessary to make it through a day, if they happened to make such a trip, wouldn't the Deva become suspicious if they stood for just a second too long in one spot? And what if there were Deva just lining the corridors, watching the every move of the students and staff members alike? How were Hiro and Drew going to be able to gather what was necessary to do what they had in mind?

Drew smiled at his own acomplishments in this particular area and he couldn't help but brag just a little bit. "We've had them up for a while now and we check on them at least a couple times a year." It usually took that long to get through the whole castle. Drew had done the system checks more often than Hiro, just because of the visual aspect, but Hiro really took care of sound control, figuring out where breaks in the system had occured before Drew had gotten to that section.
"Sometimes we get somone asking what we're doing on the floor, but they usually lose interest when we say we dropped something or we're tying our shoe." And checking the extendable ear system was a much more thorough job than dismantling a hunk of it. "I figure within a few seconds, I can get quite a few feet."

Nodding in response, she didn't fully understand it. How had they gotten away with placing extendable ears around the castle without them being noticed or caught? And she wasn't too sure about them being ignored or having interest lost in them for kneeling on the floor. How many times could you lose something or have to tie your shoe on a trip to the loo before it became suspicious?
"Why do you guys have them around the castle?" she mumbled a bit concernedly into the spot she was content with breathing in. If they'd place the things around, they had to have a reason, right?
