It had been great to be back at school for a little while before the rest of the students returned. Though without a doubt the highlight had been Art's return from his own vacation. Now that everyone was back again Fyona could fully appreciate the quiet that had not lasted long. However, she supposed it was nice to not walk nearly empty corridors anymore. Back in her Slytherin attire the girl made her way up from the dungeons to be met by the student body. Fyona shuffled into the Great Hall only thinking about the food she would soon, hopefully, consume. She nodded and waved to those she recognized as she scoped out a seat for her nice little tush. It was just her luck that she should sit next to a rather sleepy looking housemate with his head already down on the table.
"Oh, what a fun vacation it was."
"I'm sure," she said before looking around the rest of the room from her seat. It could be interesting watching the people return from the holidays. Some of them wearing new accessories and others lacking them. For instance Fyona still wore the charm bracelet she received as a present. For some odd reason the thing appealed to her a lot and she wore it when she could. Again, waving at the people she knew Fyona watched as one of her roommates sat in front of her and the other scattered to different places at the table. Glancing up at the table where the staff was supposed to be seated, Fyona's smile disappeared gradually.

Matty, like some others, had been through a fantastic vacation. Well, all expect a few things had been great. The fight with Calister at the Yule Festival had been horrific, and never again did that girl want to be in the same corridor with Ty. Lets just say they had many differences that Hufflepuff wasn't willing to compare with him. On the other hand, there was a certain Slytherin Matty was very willing to see. Leto, indeed, the little brother of Mike, was now that certain Huffle's love interest. Sure, the spark had been there for a while, but now a fire burned between the two, or so to speak. Other than those issues, Matty had now gained a new mother and brother to be. So overall, her holidays had been simply eventful and mostly wonderful.
However, now that the girl had been back at Hogwarts for a couple of days, she was happily settled in. Matty had gone back to her old hobbies, drawing, star-gazing, finishing off any homework that was due for classes, the usual. Tonight though, that was all to change. The youth was dressed in her best robes, complete with her tie and all. Matty's hair was wavy, falling onto her shoulders, and her fringe was pinned back on the top of her head. The girl wore a grin on her face, as the Fourth Year strolled into the Great Hall, halting as she first entered. The Hall was unusually staff-empty, the two highest positions of Hogwarts absent. Matty shrugged it off for now, but there was a rather weird sing bearing a welcome from Hogwarts, floating in the air.
How odd.
This too, Matty managed to shake off the weird feeling, and followed her fellow house-mate, Alexander, to the table. "Hey guys." the girl said with a smile, sliding down the table a bit to leave a couple of spaces between herself and Seanna, in case Alexander an/or another person decided to sit down. Matty didn't really notice the unusual look on the boy's face, simply looking up and down the table for a second. The youth managed to sneak a look over to the Slytherin table, pondering if Leto was going to turn up any time soon. Hopefully things would run smoothly tonight, after all, Matty didn't know why they wouldn't.

While Matty had been glancing over at the Slytherin tables, Leto had slipped in through the doors and like a snake had rather stealth-like had made his way behind his girlfriend and just stood there. His arms crossed in front of his chest and a grin on his face as he looked down at her, his thoughts going once again, as it had many times before to the fact of how beautiful she looked in anything she wore.
Leto's robes were clean and looking smart, yet his tie hung loosely around his neck to give him a bit of a scruffy look as well as the sharp and smart edge to his persona.

Matty simply looked back to her fellow house-mates, before getting the off feeling that someone was behind her. The girl slowly turned her head around, to find Leto standing behind her, his arms crossed over his chest. The girl instantly grinned at her boyfriend. "Snuck up on me, eh?" the girl teased, removing herself from the table and took both of his hands in her own. Matty placed a small kiss on his lips, and grinned afterwards. At least her 'boy troubles' were over. The Fourth year then spoke up. "So how were the rest of your holidays?" she questioned, smirking slightly, her green eyes looking into Leto's own, blue eyes.

This was it, the first day. It was a day to either make it or break it, and this girl wanted to make it. Hogwarts, a dream since she was eleven, but a dream that came true too many years later, or so it seemed to Cairistiona.
Dressed in her new, clean and pressed uniform, Cairistiona entered the Great Hall, quiet as a mouse. All right, so maybe it wasn't the grand entrance she'd imagined, but it was the one she figured on. There were a few people already present, some mingling, some seeming to be by themselves. Where exactly was she supposed to go?
Having been sorted into Hufflepuff, she could only dream of what that actually meant. Really, it was all she could do, she didn't know where the library was and wasn't able to look anything up about her newest home. Holding her breath, she looked around the somewhat creepy room, why did it have to be so large? Couldn't the Great Hall really be a rinky-dink place? That would've done well for her, at least then she wouldn't have been in awe of the vastness.
Brining her eyes to level look, Cairistiona spotted where she thought her table was. At least, if she counted right, that was where she was supposed to be sitting, and there were already a few people there, and a small bunch together. But just as she approached the gathering, one girl was swept away by a boy, and the other two looked rather involved, or at least, the girl looked involved, the boy just looked like he was embarrassed about something.
Taking a seat near where the girl had been sitting before she jumped up, Cairistiona folded her arms and tried not to look in too much awe, all she wanted to do was fit in. Maybe she could do that, just a little bit.

Maddy was so excited to be back at Hogwarts. She loved seeing her family, but this was better. Hogwarts was like the big family she always wanted, sometimes tow siblings weren't enough. Maddy had planned on returning to the school earlier, but the pressure to spend time with Eryn and Jordyn was too much on the youngest girl, she had given in. But her cruise was awesome, and so was the Yule festival, so at least she had fun. But all the time Maddy was waiting to come back to hogwarts, to see Matty, for some gossip about what she had seen over the holidays, to see Krissy, for a hug, and Mike, also for some gossiping.
During her adventures, Maddy had bought a couple of presents for some of her Huffles. A small badger toy and a postcard from France, were the perfect present for her friends. As the young girl entered the great hall, she opened her mouth in awe. It looked absolutely perfect tonight, as it did whenever there was feast. But no matter hom many times she entered the hall, it always had the same effect. Maddy, dressed in her black school robes skipped her way happily down to where she noticed Seanna. "Seanna!" Maddy ran to the girl and sat down beside her. "I just wanted to say Hi. Oh, sorry." She said, knowing that she had interrupted something. "I'll be right back..." She said, almost disregarding her whole last sentence.
To tell you the truth, part of what had just happened was why Maddy was skipping away, as she was embarassed from interrupting something, but it was mostly for a different reason. "MATTY!" The first year yelled, running up to Matty Wentworth, a fourth year Hufflepuff. Maddy wraped her arms around the girl, in a tight hug. After letting go of the older girl, Maddy brushed her hair out of face, and in her normally cute voice said, "Hiya Leto."

"Maybe you're not leaving, but you're technically no longer a child either. Either that, or maybe your mum is just being friendly," she suggested, not sure how to word such things. No, that just didn't sound right either, but that didn't mean she didn't understand, it was just something she hadn't expected to be brought up in conversation like it had been. "But it would be fun. Having a baby around the house, wouldn't it? I mean, your mum and mine could set up playdates between our young ones."
Nodding, she wondered if she'd done something wrong. Probably, she always did manage to upset people without meaning to. But it was Alexander, she liked him, he was really nice, but she thought that probably, if she went to him to talk, it would be about the case. No, that didn't sound right. They'd talked without having to even mention the case before. But with all the new information, the late nights, it all seemed to revolve around it. Then again, neither of them were home anymore, they were at Hogwarts. He wouldn't bring the case up, unless she did, would he?
"Alexander? Ho...Hold on," she called out after him. Stepping up closer to him, she slid her arm through his. "I'm sorry," she began apologizing to both (oh, what was her name again?) and Alexander, feeling like she was always apologizing to someone for something or other. "I just really need to talk to him quickly, please?" she begged with wide eyes.
Pulling the Hufflepuff away from Sarah(?), Felicity again apologized about her rudeness of it all. "I just, was kind of hoping not to have to talk about the case at all, at least not yet. I'm sure I'll want to, but I just, I don't think I could handle it right now. I mean, it's an awful lot of information, and it's been so long. I thought, that it was over."
Blinking away a few tears that welled, she just hoped he'd understand that she did want to talk about it, and would with him, but for the moment, couldn't. It definitely was not him, rather she enjoyed talking with him, almost as much as she did Lucas, he was interesting to say the least.
"But I promise, that when I am ready to talk about it, free of my parents," she laughed a little. "I'll come to you. I mean, you've been wonderful so far, very kind to help keep me calm and collected and to make me think of other things while all anyone else could discuss was the case itself. I appreciate it, really."

Considering that Claire spent the whole of her winter break at Hogwarts, the young Slytherin had to admit it wasn’t as bad as she expected. Well, obviously it was better then anything that could have gone down at home. Only her brother decided to go back for the holidays but spending time with her parents was like spending time staring at a wall. But all that didn’t matter anymore considering that vacation had come to an end and the welcome back feast was to begin shortly speaking of which.
Grabbing a robe from her bed, Claire pulled it on as she climbed down the stairs and out of the Slytherin common room. At least it wasn’t such a long journey to the Great Hall as it would have been for the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws in those towers; she probably would have been hungrier if the firstie had to climb down all those steps.
Considering that people were still wandering around at different tables said that the actual feast hadn’t started yet so she just made her way to the familiar Slytherin Table to wait for the food to be served, actually she was more excited for the dessert.

What a long break that had been. Time seemed to just drag on and on and the days seemed to be getting longer instead of shorter. Lucas had wanted more than anything to just get back to school and now it was finally time to do so. He'd missed the castle. Even in the short time he'd been there before the break, this place already felt like home and he missed it when he was away. Dressed in his freshly washed robes, Lucas made his way in the Great Hall, his eyes scanning around for familiar face that he failed to notice. Lucas looked up and down the empty Gryffindor table and, with a sigh, turned and headed for Ravenclaw's table, his hands shoved into his pockets.

Alexander walked slowly to the huffle table, head hung low, and still somewhat pink from his own humiliation. As Seanna approached him, he tied to smile and shrug as if nothing was really wrong with him. "Oh, nothing. Everything is fine, Seanna. How are you doing? I see you bet..." As he tried to continue his statement, it was interrupted with a friendly greeting from a very familiar huffle. Alexander smiled at Matty, hoping that she hadn't heard Seanna's question of concern. There was nothing Alexander wanted more than for the Hufflle girls to have a perfectly uneventful and peaceful dinner. Not worrying over him, or the fact that he had just been shot down by a friend.
It was then that he was about to listen to Seanna's response when he felt another's presence wrap around his arm. As he looked over, he noticed the familiar blond hair of Felicity Hjort. An involuntary smile crossed his face, as well as a small amused laugh that bubbled up when she started to apologize to Seanna slightly pulling him to the side to talk. He followed obediently and curiously. Hadn't she basically just brushed him off? Now the sixteen year old was confused. "What's up?" he asked bewilderedly.
Alexander listened to his friend's words and he nodded his head in understanding. It was foolish of him to think she'd want to be reminded of it, even if he was only trying to help by asking if she was ok. It was perfectly clear that she was well enough, and his asking only made her a upset all over again. Blinking away her tears, Alexander moved with his hand to clear them. "I'm sorry. I totally understand and I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to make up upset Miss Hjort....er....Felicity." The case being non-existent at this time, he forgot his formalness was unnecessary. A pink heat rose to his cheeks again. Even after seven years he couldn't control his uneasiness around Felicity, being that she was a girl and all. He only could when it was under formal matters, like in the case of the business her family and his shared. Maybe that was why he talked to her under that prospect.
"I'm glad that you can come to me, and you know that I'll be there if you need me for any reason," Alexander agreed nodding his head and putting it so that it didn't seem like they were talking about the case anymore, hoping her tears would cease and she would become happy again. Alexander didn't know what it was, but he loved it when people were smiling rather than frowning.
Placing his hand on her arm gently, he smiled at her warmly. "I should have owled you before waiting to see you, it was not thought out on my part. Please forgive my rudeness." Alexander looked back over his shoulder and then back at Felicity. "Looks like things are about to get started though..." he trailed off. Good-byes with friends, even for a little, were awkward for Alexander. What was there to say good-bye about? She would just be at a different table....right?

The effects of the Deputy Headmistress' arrest were evident on the faces of many people in the room, Brady's especially. She had been the only true backing that Devin had had at the school. She was the only reason that hell had not been unleashed on him, and as soon as she had left so did all trust in the man now walking into the Great Hall, shoulders slumped. Not only did all trust go out the window, but also there was the impending event known as teaching. Within days the ex-auror was expected to teach these young minds, something he had never truly done before. Sure he had a gameplan set, but that didn't mean he had the confidence he once had. After all the bashing he had taken it wasn't truly unexpected.
He seemed to be only the second staff member to arrive at the feast. Of course the woman who had arrived first was no help to him. He remembered clearly the events that unfolded on the quidditch pitch. That had been the only match he had any intention of attending. Sitting down at his seat towards the other side of the table he sighed, quickly glancing out into the youths sitting spread out across the hall. It was then that he realized one thing, something he would have never expected. For the first time in his entire life, he truly missed Tamis Raynor.
He quietly pondered how things had gone so far downhill. Events that had spawned from his loss of temper. He couldn't help but blame himself for Tamis' arrest. The thought that the Minister was getting his revenge by removing Defense wasn't so far fetched. He would be obviously mad that the woman had gone against his judgment wouldn't he?

And like a flash of light, the winter holidays were finally over. Not that they hadn’t had their share of fun and excitement but still, it was great to be back in the familiar castle waiting for the welcome back feast to begin. At least Anna was able to spend half of her vacation in the castle and the rest at home, though Christmas at home was a lot better when her cousins were around; especially when it came to playing Quidditch. Well, now it was back to worrying about O.W.Ls which seemed a bit closer than ever.
Having just left her trunk open with all its contents messed around as if just pilled in, Anna pulled out a school robe, got dressed and proceeded down the long journey from Gryffindor tower toward the Great Hall. At least there was the feast to look forward too and that was enough to get the fifteen year old down stairs. However, seeing a very empty Gryffindor table was a bit depressing. More likely everyone was scattered about saying hello and such.
But, taking a seat, Anna looked up at the staff table to see it looking even more desolate than her own. It all just reminded her about what had happened to one of their professors. Not exactly a cheery start being reminded that one of your teachers was sitting in Azkaban right now.

With snake attire and his wand Artemis quickly made his way to the feast... it was unusual to have a feast but all the same... whatever. He rapidly made his way from commonroom to Great Hall pausing only for a moment to find that glimpse of auburn he wanted to see. He moved again rapidly to take his seat next to Fyona, He was in posession of his half of the gift, his ebony mirror, one of the set of two. Fyona was in posession of it's counterpart and they could be used to talk it was pretty awesome magic to Art; not to mention he could see and talk to Fyona anytime he desired. " 'ello." He muttered softly as he took in his surroundings carefully.

Nic rolled into the great hall with a loud "Yay-eeYay!" Nic looked around the great hall similing. Ari was being silly. Sure they had made out for a long butt time, but there weren't THAT many people here. They could have kissed for another 10 or 20 minutes, like he had tried to point out, but noooo she had to go take a shower since he had pushed her into the dirt. Nic had small signs of rolling in the grass, but nothing overly observant.
Nic sat down and glanced at the door. Ari was going to take a quick 2 minuts shower and be back, but Nic was already missing her and he wanted to tease her unmercifully. Instead Nic looked at his snakes and nodded his was sup to da peeps he knew.

"Don't apologize. You didn't really upset me, I just, well..." Felicity trailed off. Maybe she was just difficult? Or confusing, that was a good term, she was always confusing Drew, why wouldn't she be confusing to her friends? "And Alexander, please don't call me Miss Hjort, you've known me how long by now? I think Felicity works well enough. Unless you want me to call you Master Cronon?" she asked, wondering if her friend preferred the formalities, but really didn't think that was true.
He brought his hand up and brushed away the few tears that escaped, only to make her face heat up in surprise. It wasn't intiment, and yet, there was something about it. The way it'd been done, but on the other hand, the scene was meant for one between friends. That what they were, friends. Had been for a while by this point, and family friends at that. Why, it'd only been a few days before Christmas that Mr Cronon and Harold had gone ice fishing, they were great friends.
"I know you will be," she admitted, smiling a very small one. "You've been there all this time, it'd be a bit harder to escape now, wouldn't it?" she asked.
"No," she shook her head in disagreement. "You don't have to owl me to talk to me. Just stop me, or surprise me. Something. You don't need an appointment to make contact with me, and I hope that goes both ways?" she asked, biting on her lip lightly.
Peering around the room, in hopes of seeing Drew before she'd have to take her seat at the Gryffindor table, she nodded slightly at the Hufflepuff. "Yeah, maybe I should get to my table, then." Letting go of the boy, she smiled and paused. Before turning around, she stood up a little on her toes and gently kissed his cheek. "Thank you. And I promise, I'll come to you when I need to talk about it."
Smiling again, she turned around and started in the direction of the Gryffindor table, taking up a seat beside her favourite (and only) Head Boy.
