"Alright, no talk of next year. What about this summer?"
Though it was a relief to know they wouldn't have to discuss next year, Summer just happened to be another anxious topic on her list. But not nearly as much so as the following year was, at least. The girl would rather talk about the upcoming holidays, as opposed to her future at the school. She knew, however, that this subject probably had to be taken a little seriously, due to both their situations. Em's parents didn't know about his relationship with Matty, and her own parents weren't aware of it either. She had pondered on telling Jamie, but it had only gotten that far. She wasn't seriously considering it... well, not yet anyway. She wanted to be sure he wouldn't be able to use it against her or anything, for he was bound to make some fun out of it if she did tell him. He had a tenancy of doing that, unfortunately for the teenager.
"Well, I doubt family is going anything too spectacular. There was talk of me, Jamie and his girlfriend going camping sometime though. Other than that... nothing has been planned. How about you? Got anything in mind?" Matty asked him with interest. She hadn't been exactly sure if the boy had been asking her if she had plans for herself, like she had stated, or plans for the two of them... It was going to be hard to get together with her boyfriend over the long period of time, and the teenager was actually rather dreading it. She could barely go a week or two without seeing Emeric, let alone weeks. But, she supposed as long as they could contact each other somehow, some way, things might be okay. There may even be the possibility that if his father went to London on a business trip, Em may tag along, and like the first time they met, the two could always 'bump' into each other. Though, things like that were lead on both chance and plan.
Matilda gave a small shake of her head when the Slythern questioned her. It wasn't so much of a shake that said 'no, I don't think you're good at anything' but more so of a 'Of course I think you are'. She knew it would be better to accompany this with words, though. "You're good at... stuff." she teased him with a grin to match. A memory quickly flashed into her mind, of the girl telling Emeric just was she did like about him, when they had been sitting around a fire in the Room of Requirement. Snapping back to the moment, the girl did reply after a seconds pause. "You're good at dancing and... walking? You're good at talking, and listening too. Oh, and I suppose you have gotten a bit better at kissing." she shot him a joking look.
When her boyfriend recalled an answer to her question, Matty couldn't help but innocently smile at him. She could imagine the scene; toddlers riding around on miniature brooms that only when a couple of feet up into the air, and the havoc that would have caused. Of course, she could only imagine this, though. The teenager knew of such broomsticks now, but hadn't as a child. She had grown up the muggle way. "Sounds like quite the party," she stated with a laugh trailing in her voice. And it just so happened that the girl also remembered a birthday party for her earliest memory. "Mine would probably have to be at my friend Daniel's fourth birthday. We were having a donut eating competition, where you had to eat donuts suspended from a clothesline with your hands tied behind your back. I think Daniel won, then stole some of my donut, so I pushed him over and caused a stacks-on." and she couldn't even help the sheepish grin now on her face.

Summer was a slightly sore and desperately needed topic for Em. He was almost positive where he and Matty stood concerning their relationship and the changes it might endure throughout the summer and times of not seeing one another, that they would just have to deal but would, as always, stay in contact. They had never really talked about it much before, but now that summer was looming on them, it seemed that now was as good a time as any. He assumed they thought the same thing about it, but he wanted to make sure just in case he was completely wrong. He nodded along as he listened to Matty's family plans, at the same time trying to think of anything his family had mentioned to him about their summer holiday plans.
When she asked about his plans he was ready with the answer of, " My parents haven't mentioned a trip of any sorts, but they've been known to surprise us with plans of going to France or something... " Emeric shrugged his shoulders slightly before he ventured on. " I was kindof thinking... that I might be able to get into London occasionally, though. I have some old friends who live in the area, so maybe I could visit. Maybe even go see your dad's restaurant. " It was an idea, one that he would try to make happen. He doubted that Matty got around to Ireland all that much during the summer months, and plus it was just easier for him to visit her away from anywhere his family might happen to be.
So he was good at ' stuff. ' Well, that was certainly better than nothing. He grinned in a sly manner, nudging her lightly with his elbow for her to go on. As she did go on, though, he couldn't help but scoffing lightly at her last comment. He wasn't sure at first what to react to, the fact that he needed improving in the first place or the fact that he had improved. He instead decided to throw the somewhat compliment back at the girl. " I could say the same thing about you, y'know. "
Em was still reminiscing slightly about the first memory, because... well, it had really been a long time ago even if he was only fourteen years of age. " Oh, it was... " He confirmed with a small laugh. He kept laughing, though, with the story of Matty causing a small pile up with all of the kids just because he stole her doughnut. He had heard a decent amount about her friend Daniel, and he wondered if he would ever meet the guy. He tried to hide his laughter behind a grin as he spoke. " Alrigh', let me get this straight. He stole your doughnut... so you shoved him over? " Sounded about right.

The teenager listened intently to what Emeric mentioned about his parents being known to surprise their sons by going on a trip here or there. And Matty couldn't help but smile at this, and continue to do so at the comment that followed after wards. She could remember back to the days when she initially started to notice Em around, and consequently, so did allot of other girls. Boys when in and out of gossip, as did fashion, and Matty had to admit that he had been in season for a while. So she could imagine the kind of thoughts that would go through similar girls minds, when he stepped off the plane, or when he walked down a road in Paris. It was just funny, really, how you could have something so wonderful, and more than half the would was probably oblivious to this fact.
"France, eh? That sounds pretty cool." the teen said with a side long look of interest at her boyfriend. And it did, really. That was just another things that differed, yet was common between the two. Matty's dad would surprise her like that in the same kind of way... though when they went away, it was generally to the country side, or to a forest or reserve somewhere still in England. More often or not, they would go camping; it was kind of their 'thing. Hence the reason her father had suggested the teenager going camping. But, in that, a weekend spent away with Jamie's girlfriend was rather sickening. When Emeric went on to say that he could visit London, and even her fathers restaurant, the girl turned her head, beaming. "Really? That sounds like a pretty awesome idea, if I do say so myself." the girl added honestly. And that it did.
"I could say the same thing about you, y'know." Well, it wasn't something she had totally ruled out him saying, so Matilda conjured up a sufficient come back to it. "Could you now? Well, you know what... good for you, Em. Good for you." the teenager continued to tease him, giving the boy's hand a squeeze, just to continue with the jesting they had going on.
Looking at him now, Matty could tell that the boy was in thought about his party as a child. She didn't strike it odd, either, for she had done similar stuff like that times before. And by the sounds of it, the party seemed to be rather amusing, even in this day and age. When he then asked to confirm what she had told him, the girl let out a small bubble of laughter, before nodding swiftly. "Thats right... is it so hard to believe?" Matty supplied, lifting her shoulders in an innocent manner.

(( in season for a while, huh? )) Yes, that was his life - spontaneous trips to random places, most of which Emeric could care less about. He loved traveling, but after a while it all got old for the Slytherin boy. He was used to it, mostly, and there were odd moments like now that he almost felt bad for being able to go so many places and not be grateful for it. He smiled slightly back at Matty, though, pushing these thoughts down wards so he wouldn't dwell on them too much. He recalled their conversation back in the room of requirement, of how he would take her somewhere eventually. Back then it had seemed like a joking statement, far off. He wanted to make it a promise, though. Even if he and Matty didn't last forever as a couple, he could only hope that they would remain friends. He nodded his head slightly, his footsteps crunching the underbrush of twigs and leaves as he walked alongside the Hufflepuff girl. He moved his hand slightly, his fingers tapping against Matty's as she mentioned his idea being a rather good one. " Yeah, I mean... it's not very likely that you'll be able to come out to where I live, but I usually end up going to London a couple times a month with my parents. " He gave a short nod of his head, knowing full well that the only reason Matty wouldn't be able to visit him would be because of his parents. He brushed that thought aside as well, happy to see the grin that seemed to light up the girl's face. Em laughed at what she said next, lifting his shoulders up in a shrug as he mentioned, " Ah, well... I don't really think that's a department we ever really needed to ' improve ' in. " He grinned as he waited for her response, somewhat curious as to how she would reply. The Slytherin shook his head, no it wasn't so hard to believe. His smile was still noticeable as he answered her with another light shake of his head. " Nope. After all, you were quite the handful when you were younger, from what I've heard. "

[ well of course... and i think Matty has rather good taste, if i do say so myself ]Matty could feel the gentle tapping of Emeric's fingertips against her own. Her gaze still glancing from the path ahead of her his face, she gave a nod when he confirmed his idea of coming to London, and possibly even her dads restaurant. The proposition of the latter suggestion honestly made her stomach flip once over. It still did that these days. She wondered if by then, the teenager would have reveled to her father about her relationship with Em. In the past, it had been rather hard to hide any kind of boyfriend or interest she had experienced from her dad, them being so close. But come this year, with the whole wedding and new family, well, they had drifted apart a little. She she assumed that if the time was right, things would be explained. Besides, it wasn't as if her boyfriend was some maniac, or his family were raving lunatics. "Just as long as you don't get lured into a dark alleys by any strange girls, eh?" she teased him. Okay, so in her case, she hadn't actually 'lured' him into a dark alley, but they did pass through one that day. And as she did recall... there had been a fair amount of teasing, and possible traces of flirting in that time, but nothing like the sorts that went on these days. But all the same, the idea of getting to see the Slytherin during that long break was comforting. Letting his following comment swirl about in her mind for a few moments, Matt let herself ponder on it for a couple of seconds before actually replying. She remembered the first time they had actually kissed; the memories of that day were still fresh in her mind like it had been yesterday. She could remember the way that the stairs had creaked under every slight movement they made. The dim lighting of the Shack, though the way that the particles of dust would dance and glitter in the small beams of sunshine that did manage to break through the walls. That stray cat that had caused Matty to jump into Emeric's arms. The way she had told him that the reason she liked him was because she wanted to understand him. The way he had smelt like a mix of vanilla and musk. The exact way the words he spoke had made her whole body stand on edge. And looking at him right now, the girl didn't even realized that she had slowed, and even stopped her walking. "Hmm. I suppose you're right about that. Which reminds me... I think I understood allot more about you after that day." Matty stated brushing her thumb against his own with a smile that held traces of good memories embedded within. After hearing his mention about her being 'quite the handful' the teenager chuckled softly. "But of course. If i hadn't got all of that outta my system back then, I'd probably twice as psycho these days." Hey, weirder things had happened, right?

It was really baffling the fourth year how fast time had really gone by. He was only fourteen years old, but already his life seemed to be focused around something other than himself. He knew it was foolish to be thinking too far in the future, but plans for the summer were nice to discuss because it consoled him to know that, for him and Matty, they were comfortable and sure enough of their relationship that they could make plans for the summer time at all. It was reassuring for the most part, and he was glad the topic had been brought up. The idea of meeting her family was foreign one, the boy had never done the formal ' meeting the parents ' sort of deal, as all of the girls he had been interested in before, his parents generally knew theirs beforehand. His relationship with Matty was filled with a lot of firsts.
" I can promise nothing when it comes to strange girls that trick me into dark alleys. After all, that's how you did it. " He teased her with a light poke in the side to accompany his playful words. Dark alleys and places didn't always bode well with the boy, because you never knew what sort of person or creature could be creeping along preparing to pounce, but he was, of course, reminded of his first meeting with Matty and how they had had to cross through a dingy, dark and slightly intimidating alley to get back to Diagon. What a day.
He grinned in a way that would hint he had some mischief on his mind in regards to her first comment, but toned it down slightly to a small smile at the rest of her statement. He was glad he had let his guard down, even if it was just for a trip in the Shrieking Shack, because he wasn't so sure that he and Matty would have ended up together if he hadn't. " Well, I'm certainly happy with the results of that situation... " He stepped in a little closer to Matty as their walking pace slowed to a halt, his smile still in place.
" Wait... so you're not psycho now? Wow. You must have really been crazy back then. " Ha, another joke, although for this one he somewhat expected a punch of sorts from the girl in response. He wouldn't blame her, but he still chuckled at his own joke.

All this thought of Summer, her boyfriend, family issues and friends made Matilda dip back into the pool of thought that consisted of times that related to these things. She couldn't help but recall the first time Jynx's parents had met her dad at Christmas. Things had flowed so well, and the holiday in inner London had been brilliant. She could also recall the Summer after that, when herself and Jynx had broken up, and spending days of it with Devon. The exact park, and even patch of grass where they had spent allot of their time was still nestled away in the outskirts of London, and often when back home, the teenager would drive past it and reflect on memories.
However... even when remembering the fond times with previous guys, nothing seemed to compare with her history, and present with Emeric. She knew - well, thats what she was hoping, anyway - that where things had fallen apart in other relationships, this wouldn't be a problem. There seemed to be so much trust, affection, needing and enjoyment in their relationships. In a nutshell, they loved each other, and that wasn't an easy feeling to shake on Matty's terms. No matter what happened this summer, the teen was determine to keep what they had alive. To throw it away would be a denotational loss of their past months together.
His reply brought the girl out of her thinking, now attending to what they had been talking about. "But," she interjected with a knowing grin, feeling his soft poke in her side. "If I can do it, then so can other people. Especially those muggle girls, and they mightn't treat you as kindly as I did." she teased him in return. Alright, so Matty wasn't seriously insecure about things like that. Although she knew that there were girls around who didn't care if guys like Emeric had a girlfriend or not, and would make a move on a gorgeous guy like him regardless, she trusted the boy more than she trusted their morals.
Despite the fact that the teenager hoped that they would have gotten together if it hadn't have been for their trip inside the Shrieking Shack, the girl did doubt it. Whose to say that even if they had trailed each other with truth or dare, the same questions would have arose. In fact, it was the mere fact that they had bumped into each other on that day, and in that very place, in that exact scenario, that the whole thing came into place. Whose to say something similar would have even gotten them onto the same track? It was pretty mind bobbling, still trying to swallow the fact, that after all these months, she mightn't be with Em now. So stepping into the gap between them, Matilda smiled up at the Slytherin, her green eyes locking with his own brown ones.
"That makes two of us." she said gently, biting back her lip after ward for a second. And the girl could hardly help herself, when she stood up on her toes to make herself a bit taller, and therefore leaning her head inclined to Em's. The words that she uttered, though soft and smooth, seemed to be filled with much more passion that the sentence gave justice to. "I love you." And how she did. Once back down to her own level, the teenager supplied a expected roll of her eyes, which was followed by a small jab in his stomach. "You're lucky I buckle down the hatches when it comes to being crazy around you, sweetheart. Who knows how long we'd last if I was half as crazy as I was back then." Matty added with another laugh.

Emeric let himself tear his eyes away from Matty's bright green ones as they walked, looking around and wondering why people always said the forest was so dangerous. It didn't seem too dangerous to him, but then again maybe he and Matty had been keeping to the path more than he originally thought. He didn't know what time it was, but figured some time had certainly passed from the moment that they had originally stepped into the forest for their little soiree.
He was glad that Matty followed through as well with another witty and humorous comment, they were both rather good at that he had to admit. " I promise, I will resist the odd girls who try to seduce me in back alleys. " He smirked slightly, mostly because it was an unlikely event, but funny to think about all the same. " So long as you resist the random guys who throw themselves upon you. I can be scary if need be. " He warned jokingly with a small grin on his face as Matty took a small step in to close the space between them.
Why she had to do the lip bite, he had no idea, but Em smiled slightly, his hands freeing themselves from hers to reach up and cup her face, he let his eyes remained trained on hers, almost as if he was studying them so he wouldn't be able to forget just how they looked in the dim light of the forest. " I love you, too. " He replied back, placing a light kiss on the girl. A year ago he hadn't predicted that he would be able to say he knew what love really was, but now he felt it, which was something different entirely.
He flinched away from her touch as she poked him in the stomach, a slightly ticklish spot on his body. That wasn't something he would readily admit to Matty, though. " Yeah, I don't think I could handle being kicked around for a doughnut. It should at least be a cake or something, really. " He joked, his hands reaching for hers so she wouldn't poke him again. " Want to head back? " He asked, moving his head to indicate the space behind his shoulder, behind them where their camp was set up.

His promise was all in one humorous, teasing and even genuine in a sense. She tried not to feel as paranoid as she was perceiving herself as being. Okay, being totally truthful... Matty probably shouldn't have been worrying about stuff like that. Granted, she was the one who had fallen for someone else when she was in a relationship. She was the one who had made one of her best friends into the 'rebound guy. Granted, she had even gone for a boy who had proved to be both unreliable and unpredictable. But thank Merlin she had Emeric now. In more than more one, he really was a god send. The teen had learned more from being with him than she had from any other relationships in the past. And for that... she knew she didn't need to fret.
"So long as you resist the random guys who throw themselves upon you. I can be scary if need be."
Well, she couldn't stifle the laugh at this. Matilda grinned at him, as if butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. "Throw themselves? Wouldn't that mean they're kind of... desperate? But in saying that, I guess this explains allot when it comes to you." Oh, burn. As much as it could have been an insult to the boy, the Huffepuff made it more than obvious that she was just kidding around. "Anyway, you have no need to worry. I've already ordered my 'random guy' repellent, no need for you to get any scarier than you already are." At least their conversations weren't every boring, to say the least.
When Emeric cupped her face in his hands, Matty let her eyes linger as his did on hers. If the girl could keep only keep a few memories in mind to last her throughout the summer, this would be included. Being enclosed with darkness, with only the small strands of light burrowing through the canopy, and illuminating her boyfriends face. The way his eyes seemed to light up whenever they connected with hers, like some kind of connection. And the way that when he said 'I love you', it seemed to make her insides dance, while her outside remained perfectly calm, allowing itself to be washed over by the pure happiness of this feeling. It was amazing how three simple words could mean so much. Matty smiled into his kiss, her now free hands resting on his sides softly.
When the Slytherin flinched, the girl couldn't help but note that in her head, putting it aside for when it might come in handy next. If that was a weak point on him... that was defiantly something the teen wanted to know about. All the better for teasing him. She rolled her eyes though, at his mention of getting pushed about for a dough nut. Matty allowed her hands to be taken in his, despite the fact that he had seemed to read her mind; for she was about to poke him again. "Theres no need to be jealous, just because you weren't invited." she jested.
Nodding in reply to his question, Matilda let go of one of his hands, so that they could turn and walk back to their camp site. She didn't know what time it was... but it seemed that hours had passed while they had merely walked or talked. The teen didn't know if it actually was this long, but she assumed that it had been a fair while since they had left. Really, she was glad to be spending all this time with Em, and knowing that she would be able to be with him for the entire night too.
( You can God-Mod them getting back to camp, if you like :] )
