Jack smiled at Nic's remarks. It only took him back for a second when what Nic had said about Verina actually connected with him, but he knew from previous experience not to take him too seriously. "Break was good and Verina always brightens peoples days." he said with a smile and a wink, "She certainly did mine over the summer." At that moment the person they were discussing came into the classroom and over to them. "Hey Verina." Jack said with a smile deciding to let Nic answer the question. After all it looked like it was directed at him and, besides, Verina knew that Jack always behaved himself.

He wondered slightly at what the pile of pillows their professor at the moment seemed to be trying to shield would be for exactly. It might have helped if he'd taken more then just a scan of all his class schedules but then all things considered he supossed being surprised wouldn't kill him.
Walking over to the small group of students he already knew at the back of the classroom he greeted each of them before placing his things down on the floor to await the start of their lesson.

So did you want to eat lunch with me today?Ash smiled and nodded her head, "Mm, that'd be fun." She laughed and realized that this had been the first social event she had been invited to besides Krissy and Ari's party. [LOL, Ash is such a loser. ;] She was happy for it too. "So, is everyone okay? You know, from last night?" She noticed that Drew had been pretty upset; he was so mean to Pocko! ;_; And Jack, she didn't seem too happy either, though Ash didn't really care. She was rude and didn't even know the fifth year. [short post ]

Celina's head drooped as the mention of the previous night. She had no clue if everyone was ok. She wasn't, Drew seemed still upset, and Jack just disappeared from sight last night after asking if everyone was ok. "I really couldn't tell you," she whispered to Ash.
"I never really talked to Drew last night to apologize, and after everyone finally went to bed I stayed up in the common room watching the fire wishing I could contact my brother and tell him how horribly things went." Celina shrugged. It was a sad time for the poor Ravenclaw girl. The best thing about the whole thing was that she was talking to people and actually making friends Hiro said that she'd make eventually just by making herself accessible. "I need to eventually talk to Drew again," she ended. "I just don't know how."

Gail walked into the Defense against the Dark Arts Class, an air of confidence surrounding her. This class was her favorite, just like it was for many others. Defense against dark magic was something she took seriously. Gail may not be able to see the future but she did know that one day her life would be at stake, and she would need her knowledge of spells and safety conducts. Stepping out of her thoughts, she surveyed the room. The floor was covered with pillows, lots and lots of pillows. Some were occupied, others weren't. Gail noticed that the frilly ones seemed to be left out. Oh come on.
She took a seat on any random one and crossed her legs Indian style. Making sure her wand was in her robe pockets, she crossed her arms and waited for the lesson to begin. Most of the students were chatting with each other, making her feel left out. But she liked it that way, one was better then two. It was less trouble that way. In her words.

"Maybe we'll get to kill each other with those," Daniel mumbled quietly as the first thing he saw was a pile of pillows when he came into the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. This was actually a class Daniel was looking forward to. Learning how one would defend themselves would be a great advantage; make it easier to get around it all and attack easier. Anyways...
Coming more into the class, Daniel noticed there were no desks or chairs, so he threw his bag off to the side and followed it lazily. His bag hit the wall and sank to the floor, much like his back did moments later. The Slytherin landed on the floor beside his stuff and brought his knees up to his chest, waiting for the class to begin.

Ahh. This was more like it. Lauren was pleased when she saw the classroom mounded with pillows all over the place. Perhaps she could blend in with the pillows and nap, something she suddenly felt she needed. But then again, with such an odd arrangement of the classroom, Lauren might actually wish to stay awake and see where this was going.
She was not the first one to enter; in fact there was about the entire fifth year class in the room already. With all the pillows, this made the room seem even more cluttered. However, Lauren still couldn't imagine what the pillows could be used for. Honestly, what do little sheets of fluff have to do with defending yourself against dark powerful forces. They'd be ash before you could even imagine.
"What are the pillows for?" She questioned aloud.

Davis lazily strolled into the classroom, glad that he wasn't late, yet again. He scanned the room. It wasn't like most rooms that he had seen so far today, but was somewhat.. unique. He looked around at the walls and then the large windows, before at the floor- where desks should be, but instead saw a mound of pillows of all shapes and sizes. He also saw two Ravenclaw girls from his own house.. their names were Ash and Celina, or so he thought. The fifth year hadn't talked to too many students his age so far, he had barely even been around those two- and they were in the same house. He decided to take a seat beside them, overhearing that they were talking about the events in the common room and lunch.
Plopping down onto a large blue pillow, Davis looked at the two girls and hoped that they would recognize him and not ignore him completely. He chewed on his bottom lip as he looked from girl to girl. Sitting up, Davis put himself into an 'Indian-styled' sitting position, so he could see their faces a bit better. He looked from the Asian to the girl who had got injured and smiled, "Mind if I take a seat here, ladies?" he asked, raising an eyebrow, before holding out a hand to Ash, he would shake Celina's afterwards, "Davis Rossi- I do believe that we are in the same house," he said, looking down at his uniform, then back up to meet their eyes, a grin spreading across his tanned, young face.

Celina watched cautiously as the Ravenclaw boy came up to the two girls and sat down with them. Only asking after he sat. Not that Celina minded if Ash didn't, it's not like they had been talking about anything to important. "I don't mind," Celina said in her usual soft tone as she looke at Ash for a sort of approval, especially since he held his hand out to her first. Celina couldn't wait for lunch. She was actually hungry, and she even had breakfast. She looked around the room taking in all of the sites.

"Hey! Why am i the one that get's that look? You know Jack could have been clearly been the one misbehaving he isn't exactly model behavior. And they say he's a Ravenclaw," Nick said before shaking his head in mock disapproval.
Recalling Jack's words moments before he couldn't help but admit to defeat, well at least for the time being, "Touche, touche. Gotta say you got me there."
"Oh are we the man of few words today Derek? Not that i'm complaining," Nico said upon his cousin's brief hello's to their small group.

Drew... she hadn't spoken to him for a while. She didn't count the feast or him yelling at her in the common room. Ehhh. Ash was seriously hopeless. She had no idea how to confront the older boy without starting trouble, which was really bad! Sometime she just wanted to hide or run away when she was around him; he just made her feel so horrible about her behavior and yet, she still drove to be his friend. Of course, most of the time, it was her fault.
She was taken from her short daze when Davis arrived. The girl smiled at him and nodded, "Yeah, you can sit." Ash nodded when he mentioned them being in the same house. "Ash Xin, Fifth Year... oh wait, you already know that..." She hit herself mentally. That was stupid; she needed to break the habit.

She returned Jack's words with a smile before laughing slightly at Nick's indignant tone, "Your the one that got that look because it seemed like you were the one that was starting things." Though Nick also did have a point where Jack was concerned. If anyone knew that was the truth Verina would know.
"Well..." she looked over at Jack for a moment before turning back to Nick, "I suppose you are right about Jack," she said amused before telling Derek hello.

Post by Tamis Raynor on Apr 17, 2007 13:10:57 GMT -5
As the students filed into the room, most seemed to grasp the concept that Professor Raynor plus hovering over giant mound of pillows equaled not for sitting. Almost everyone. One particular Hufflepuff however, walked right over and plopped down on one of them. Not the worse thing in the world, but not very observant either. Opening her mouth to inform the girl of this, she closed it with a frown, not able to remember the girl's name at all. A quick reference to her roster and a second later...
"Miss Attaway, if you would follow the rest of the class' example and remove your tush from today's lesson, it would be most appreciated. Up now." She shooed the girl away from the pile before closing the door in the back of the room with a wave of her hand.
"Settled down now, all of you. Welcome back to Defense Against the Dark Arts and congratulations, this class is about to get a little harder for you as we step off the wonderloud land of Incantations in Defense and move onto the less certain land of wandless magic. No, before you get your hopes up, we are not actually studying wandless magic, but rather a form of it that applies to this class."
Falling silent, she waited for all the groans and moans of disappointment, as their was bound to be, die off before going any farther. Being able to commit wandless acts was useful, but it was only indirectly related to her class. That was a subject students usually had to study on their own time.
"Unlike other fields of this particular area of magic, it does not require years upon years or hard work and preservation or a natural talent to pull of. Don't believe me? Then answer me this, when you were younger, did anything abnormal -- if you are muggleborn -- happen to you when you were scared or upset that you couldn't explain? And if you come from a wizarding family, did your relatives ever try to 'beat magic' out of you, but scaring you or angering you in an extreme way?"

"Haha real funny Nick," Derek replied before yawning slightly. Only now realizing that it might have been in his interest to have caught a few more hours of sleep the night before. But considering how rowdy his roommates were that had been only a distant wish.
Derek coudn't honestly say anything like that had happened to him as a child. If anything the only living being on this planet he could think of that would have attempted something like that to him was the boy standing beside him.

"I am so well behaved it amazing." Jack said to Nic with a laugh, "Ravenclaws are always behaved." He had found it funny that Verina had given Nico the look instead of him, well at least he knew that she gave that look to other people and it wasn't just reserved for him. He just put on a slightly pouting look when Verina agreed with Nico that he wasn't behaved all the time. He wasn't really pouting, but just messing with her. He already knew that he wasn't a perfect angel, then again who was?
When Raynor started the class he fell silent. He too couldn't remember a time that his parents had tried to make sure he was magial, but maybe they had and he just couldn't remember it. He wondered if anyone in the class would have a memory of something similar to what she had referenced.
