Sarsha thought about what Kyle said. Ty? Steal her wand. She thought back to what Ty looked like and then back to what the girl looked like. "Nar I don't think he's tall enough.." Sarsha whispered back to Kyle. The girl who had taken her wand had been very tall. Sarsha hadn't seen her since. "He's too short" Sarsha whispered again. "The girl was pretty tall" Sarsha thought it was quite strange how the girl knew who had stolen her wand though. Could it have been Ty who had taken Sarsha's? She really wasn't sure.

Corynn was worried when she realised there were no desks in the room. She knew she should have lead the way. Her brother wasn't very good with finding his way around places. She didn't know if they should really be sitting in the classroom but she sat down next to him anyway. Corynn's worry disappeared when the woman began to speak. She was very proud of Conner for finding the classroom.
She didn't even need to ask Conner about partners when the woman mentioned they needed them. Both him and her knew they would be each others partners. They did everything together after all. She pulled out her wannd and waited for further instructions.

(( Mr. Tayern, watch your post length please. ))
"Professor, Ty Calister stole me wand," one of the students, Chase Conner declared and Raynor was once again reminded that there were eleven and twelve year olds. She loved the first year class for their ignorance of the magical world in most respects, but abhorred it for this very reason.
"That is a very prudent accusation, Miss Conner. If it is in fact the case, it will have to be dealt with after class. But until then, unless you have a replacement wand, you will have to observe the class. I can't hold up the rest of the class."
Which was very true indeed. Turning her attention to the rest of the first years she rubbed her hands together."Today, we are going to learn the two fundamental spells to any defense; how to disarm and shield. You can be the most skilled wizard on the planet and the most power, but if you can't do either of these, you will never win a duel let alone survive it. The incantation to disarming is Expelliarmus, ex-pel-ee-AR-mus. The shielding spell is Protego, pro-TAY-go."
"If you are the person whose first objective is to disarm -- Mr. Hersten, Miss Worthington, it is your best interest to pay attention -- your opponent will be allowed to use any spells you current know to try and accomplish the task, but you must disarm with Expelliarmus. And mind, use common sense. If I have to send any students to the hospital wing for boils house point deductions and detentions will be the least of your worries."
She gave them all a critical eye to stress the point though she felt there was little need to. Raynor could be quite imaginative with punishments. A point Charlie Jones could sympathize with. Body changing had not been on the agenda, but it had been moral-worthy.
"Those defending will need to block off the attempts with the Shielding Charm. Yes, at the same time. Will you be able to block them all as I am teaching you these for the first time? No, but all the more reason to try harder. I will walk around the room as needed to reverse anything that slips through."
For a moment, the Professor hesitated. She did it every year with her first year class. And it always proved fruitful. Though by the way half the class were staring around the classroom like dear offering themselves to wolves on a platter, she doubted she would get her volunteer.
"Before we begin, I have a fift-- a twenty point offer to a student that is daring enough to withstand a demonstration to class," another pause, "with me as their opponent and try to disarm me. Twenty points for the effort, I don't expect you to disarm. However, I will be returning spells. Any takers?"
She truly did not expect any of them to disarm. A first year student up against an ex and fully trained auror? Not on this planet... at least not without help. Not to say that Raynor had never done that before.

Haru shot his hand into the air. He was excellent with magic just like he was excellent with everything else. The first year still remembered his first day with his wand; it felt like just yesterday that he had stepped into the dusty, old shop on Diagon Alley. Ollivander's was bustling with first years like him, that day, but Haru pushed through everyone else and had the chance of seeing Ollivander before everyone else.
He had been given many wands to try out but only one wand suited him- because he was so special. It was a seventeen inch long, rowan wood, doxy fur. His father assured him that it was wonderful and that he would succeed so much with it, so with that, Haru was satisfied.
The Slytherin jumped up, swishing around the 17" wand this way and that. Pray to Merlin that, that thing wouldn't take someone's eye out.

Sarsha had jumped slightly when the professor had said her name and had made sure she was paying attention from that point on. It was with that that she heard the professor's offer of points. After loosing points in potions she would love to be able to gain some back for hufflepuff.
Sarsha raised her hand kinda timidly and said "I..I'll be a volunteer if you want.." she wasn't sure if this was really a very good idea, but, she had to try. She had a new wand and though she was useless at magic she could always try. She shot a worried glance at Kyle, had she just signed her own deathwish?

Sure Raynor was scary, but her telling Kyle to keep quiet wasn't all that scary. Not that he wanted to provoke her. No no no, he wouldn't want that. But really, being told to be quiet wasn't new to the boy, even it was from the the scariest professor on earth.
He was very skeptical about the demonstration bit though. Them, teeny tiny first years who could barely hold a wand up right (not that he would admit that) against a professor? If she's calling that a demonstration of the spell, she might as well call that a demonstration of how to get one's rear end thoroughly kicked. Same thing, really.
"Sar, no," he tried to stop her by hissing urgently (yet quietly) to her but it was too late. Oh dear, he watched his friend's raised hand desperately. Let's hope she wouldn't want to quit school after this.

(sorry)
Arty stepped forward, forget the hand he thought, he had an idea, he had a small trick, he had dueled before. He had WON before. it was a lovely trick ideal for something like this, and he was going to bring pride to Slytherin. He looked Raynor in the eyes and muttered somewhat to the class, " Wowo a chanse to hex a professor I love it!" And he brought his wand to the ready. Remember, Art thought to himself Reina taught you this, you know it, and also the Volo~ prefix will drain you more than anything you have ever done before. Let the fireworks start so Haru wouldn't take his pride he walked up even closer to Raynor, he put on his serious face, the one that told the world to shove it you-know-where becasue I'M the best around. He didn't know what prompted him to say this but he just did " Since Chase can't partner with me, Haru, after I'm done here, you and I could play unless you are to much of a huffle to play with the rough boys."
(Haru, thanks, the old Tayern is baa-ack!)

Haru turned back as he heard a fragile, stammering voice. "Sara, this is men's work. It's too dangerous for little girls." he gave her an assuring look, as if to say 'don't worry, I'll be fine'. He turned to Raynor, with a determined face, "Professor, I will take up the challenge and I will fight..." He spoke as if this was the battle that would change their lives forever.
Somehow, he knew that the Tayern boy would interfer with all his glory. He was always interferring and giving a bad name to Slytherin! He was always so mean too! Oh, Haru could go on and on complaining about him but his writer doesn't feel like typing it all out. He sneered at the other Snake, "Pshh- you wish! Plus, I'll have you know that Sara and Nathan are Huffles and they're a whole lot cooler and braver than you'll ever be! Just go back to your girlfriend, why don't you? Let a real man handle this job."

She had expected a hand or two to go up, but not a fight over it. They were either very confident in their skills or just really wanted those house points. In any case, if left for a very bemused professor. In actuality, the Professor was going to call on Sarsha. The girl had been timid about raising her hand and wanted to hone that into some better placed confidence.
That was of course until the commotion between the Slytherin boys. The Professor arched an eyebrow at Tayern strutted up to the front of the classroom. She continued to just stare at him for a long moment, as if wondering if she was really seeing him.
"Mr. Tayern, return to your previous position if you will. You were not called upon. Cockiness is not a flattering trait." She stated dryly, then motioned towards Haru. "All right, Mr. Miho. If you're "man" enough for it, I did see your hand go up first. If you truly think this is a boys field, then I should be no match for you."
Humoring him? No, not in her nature. Toying? Perhaps. The last time she had seen someone that sure of themselves walking into this duel it had been Drew. He hadn't won, but he had bugged her on every ounce of her knowledge on Aurors ever since.

Artemis frowned slightly and as he was walking back he mouthed, I'll get you later Miho. and he stood next to Chase. Oh how he hated that runt little haru Miho, the pure blooded pain in the arse, correction the pure blooded arse.Taking his glory. Even if He lot to the professor, which in the back of his mind he knew would happen he might have learned a spelland he even had a plan. " Miho," Arty called " I'll go get the nurse now so we don't need to bring whatever is left of you down a floor to her." If they dueled now Arty had the advantage of knowlege, his anger would give him power but lately he had been afraid to use IT like Diablo told him, but with his level head he had his cornerstone for point dueling, the volo~ prefix, it was lucky he found it a dozen small spells, how cool was that?

Sarsha was immediately worried about her decision to try as Kyle told her no. She trusted his opinion as he had helped her so many times so if he said no it probably had meant she had just signed her death wish. But those thoughts were swept out of her mind as, just like in potions, Arty and Haru began fighting. Those two definately didn't like each other very much. She frowned at Arty's comments. He had just insuled her as she was a hufflepuff.
Although Sarsha was confused at what her reaction to Haru's comment should be. He told her it was a mans job. Now that wasn't true, but then he said she was cooler than Arty. Now that was nice. He confused her sometimes, he seemed like he thought he was being nice and then went and did something semi mean. But she was very glad he got chosen other than Arty. She had a slightly disappointed look on her face though she professor Raynor chose him. She really did want to earn some points back. Either way her attention returned to the front of the room to watch the professor and Haru.

Well, Raynor would have quite a challenge getting through to Haru. He was excellent at magic and could produce sparks of all the different colors in the rainbow. He was going to be the next 'Drew Thornton'. ;D Too bad Haru didn't take much interest in the Auror career. Nope- he already knew what he was going to do, ever since he had arrived on the steps of Hogwarts. The Snake knew that he was going to be a Professor, right here at this school. He would be perfect although there was one problem with his plan: all the girls would be too distracted with their fantasies about Professor Miho to learn a thing! Tsk tsk, being beautiful was quite a burden. Haru stood on his tippy toes and leant towards Professor Raynor's ear, " I'll go easy on you, Professor. We don't want students thinking you're unworthy." He smiled to her and stepped back, drawing out his enormous wand. He was ready when she was.

Kyel was glad that Sar was relieved of that horrible demonstration. Sure, let Haru the Man handle the job. Really, he didn't mind. But he had to admit that if there's going to be an award of of who's most out of his mind, he definitely would nominate the boy.
He couldn't hear what the boy said to Raynor, but once again, he must be really out of his mind. "Sar, don't you think the woman's scary?" he asked her quietly. He just wanted to know why she volunteered herself to that demonstration.

Sar watched Haru whisper to Professor Raynor, she couldn't hear what he had said though. But at his words she turned her attention back to Kyle. She nodded at his question "I think shes very very scary" she whispered quietly casting a furtive glance back towards professor Raynor to make sure she didn't notice she was talking. Oh what trouble would she be in if she got caught talking again? In truth Professor Raynor probably would only tell her off once mroe, but in an 11 year olds mind everything bad was bound to happen if you did something naughty like talk in class.

They were both looking and waiting for the supposed duel to happen. No no, Kyle didn't dislike Haru, but he was quite eager to see how the cocky Slytherin would be knocked down by the professor.
"Then why did you volunteer?" he whispered to her with a little more urgency. "She could turn you into a toad without you knowing!"
