"How CAN you go back?" Arianna questioned, raising her eyebrow at the girl. She had to refrain from saying what she thought about the question. "Take the Avada curse. You've just killed someone. You can't bring them back. No one can. And the fact that you wanted to kill them also means that you don't care who else is affected by what you've done. Nor do you care what happens to you for doing it."
"And if you use Imperius one someone..." she continued, leaning forward at her desk, eyes on Gail as though the two of them were having a conversation. "It's the same thing. Except, whatever they do under your command, falls on your shoulders."

"I think Miss Shriver has just successfully answered your question, Miss Lawrence," the Professor responded quietly. "However, I am very glad she brought up the Imperious Curse in general, as that is the object of today's lesson. These curses are unforgivable and there is little chance of blocking any of them, however, you can fight the Imperious Curse once implored and you will learn how to do that today."
There was a pause, a hesitance, then she added, "For this particular lesson, I have gained a pardon by the Ministry of Magic to place each of you under the Imperious Curse, so that you can feel what it feels like to be placed under an Unforgivable and also learn how to fight it. No." She said before they could jump to conclusions, "this does not mean I have mal-intentions against any of you. My intent here is to, yes, control your actions, but so that you can learn to fight it."
That was the best way she could explain it. Her intention was the control them with every fiber of her being, but because she wanted to help them, not hurt them. That was the distinct difference, and that only this occasion would provide for this curse.
"I will take volunteers first, but everyone is going to be put under it. It is not optional. If you do not participate, you will fail this project, and it composes a great deal of your grade in this class. Anyone willing to go first?"
