She nodded shyly.
Ash strolled away, sometimes when she walked, it helped her think. She paced her steps over and over as if she was anxious for something to happen. He was right, she would get it. Drew seemed a lot nicer than he was before. He was such a jacka** before, eh, she didn't know how to control that temper around him.
She looked down at the ground as she walked. Nothing was coming up, absolutely nothing. She bit her lip still trying to think, aih, couldn't this be a little bit easier? Her life wasn't that boring. Happy thoughts, Ash.
" Ah." she said aloud. "I've thought of one" Ash smiled happily, the last memory had been happy yet sad also, although this one was purely happy and childish. " Expecto Patronum!" she flicked her wand out and a larger wisp of smoke was extracted through it. Ash turned away from the class to smile to herself, proud she had produced it. She didn't want to seem arrogant or anything, Ash was always too humble.

After about his fifth or so attempt, not producing anything but a large silvery mist, Jack paused for a moment thinking that maybe he should try and think of another memory, a happier one. He racked his brain trying to come up with a time when he was really happy, happier then being on the slopes with his brother. He came to the realization that there was one memory that made him happier then anything else and forced himself to concentrate on it with all his power.
It was a memory of a family trip in which all his brothers were there and his parents. They had gone to Italy one summer and spent a month down there hanging out and having a blast. He tried to remember every detail before raising his wand and saying in a strong voice, "Expecto Patronum." It wasn't until his fourth attempt with this memory that he looked and saw that this time it wasn't just a slivery blob that had appeared and came out of the end of his wand. It had some sort of shape to it, though not enough to really tell what it was, but he thought he could make out a fin on it.

Drew hopped back up onto the table by the window and watched as the fourth years practiced and ooh-ed and ahh-ed over their patronuses. He smirked as their exclaimations indicated they saw specific parts, but Drew knew it was wishful thinking. He had been sure his was a bird of some sort after the first week, but that was just silly. No one had ever come close to a Corporeal Patronus on their first day of practice.

Ash glanced over at Jack, seeing a large blob forming from his wand, she smiled a bit, and congradulated him. She could kind of see the point at the top of the blob, or maybe that was just her being weird again. Truthfully, she didn't really want to keep on trying, she knew that she would get it eventually but she felt drained for some reason. The two small wisps of smoke had sucked her energy out. Ash let herself sit nearby, still thinking of other memories she could use.

Pat had been watching Drew trying to goad the Ravenclaw girl whose name he didn't know just yet into making better and better attempts at her Patronus. He wasn't quite sure what was going on between the two of them, but it seemed whatever Drew had been trying with her had worked; she'd made her own mist in any case.
Pat turned his attention back to his own skill at the charm. He'd made some mist on his first attempt, but he knew that he'd need something else as far as memory; thoughts of Krissy were perhaps too broad a subject to use effectively. Maybe a specific memory would do it. Pat drew the memory of him and Krissy visiting Abby over the summer; it had been one of the highlights of his vacation, and it was definitely a happy memory. Pat raised his wand again while focusing on this memory and said "Expecto Patronum!"
The silver mist came forth from his wand again, but it seemed smaller than the cloud he'd conjured before. And yet, Pat had a sense that this attempt was more powerful, more concentrated; it was draining him far more than the previous try had anyway. The spell ceased again, although this time of its own accord, rather than Pat canceling it himself. He lowered his wand again, smiling. He'd need more practice, but that try was much better than last time.

Ash smiled at the Hufflepuff boy, " Good job." she said to him, resting her head on her hand. Was she really that drained? Aih, she was and was really bored of thinking. Even though she perfered to be the quiet type, she felt uncomfortable in this silence, with the ocassional groan or squeal of excitement.

Pat's attention was grabbed by someone saying "good job". He quickly saw it was the Ravenclaw girl who had had Drew encouraging her in his own way. He hadn't been able to fine a chance to greet her properly before, so he felt he may as well do so now. "Thanks. You did pretty good yourself," he said, smiling. He held out his free hand to her to shake and continued speaking. "I don't think we've spoken before. Name's Pat Nollet, Hufflepuff."

She straightened up as Pat introduced himself, "Ash Xin, Ravenclaw."she said as she shook his hand. He could probably already tell she was in Ravenclaw, she was wear her robes although Ash felt the need to say it anyway. She had seen him in almost all her classes, funny that they never spoke to eachother until now.
" No, my patronus needs a bit of work." Ash sighed truthfully.

"No it doesn't,"
Lauren admitted, butting into Ash's conversation with Patrick. Her own patronus had been nothing but a bunch of silver mist, like mostly everyone elses. She knew it took a while to conjur a form of your patronus, but still it was frustrating with how simple people made it look. It must have taken a powerful memory, but Lauren couldn't think of a super exciting memory.
"Mine's no better, anyway," she said. "They make it look so easy," she added, glancing at her wand, trying to think of a better memory than of the one she had.

Ash smiled, agreeing with Lauren, they did make it look awfully easy although she'd been told how hard it really was to conjure up, she didn't really know what they meant until today. Although Ash couldn't deny, she needed to improve. She wondered if Drew would fail her if her patronus was still this bad. She couldn't think of any memories at the moment and truthfully didn't want to. Surprisingly, it was hard work.
"Aih, I wonder how long it took him,"she nodded her head towards Drew, "to build his as good as it is now." she sighed.

Pat smiled slightly as Lauren joined his and Ash's conversation. She had brought up the point Pat was thinking, that all of their Patronuses were bound to be only at this level. The attempts everyone was making now were probably the best that could be expected at their age.
When they both said that Drew had made it look so easy, Pat nodded a bit. "Yeah, he does make it look easy, way easier than it really is. Dunno how long it took him, but for Drew to be able to make a real one at his age must be near impossible, right?"

She smiled, agreeing again, " Right... " his animal was a bear... how interesting, she thought, wondering what animal her patronus would turn out to be. She couldn't tell at all since her best patronus had been a very small wisp so far. It felt impossible to create an animal when she could hardly produce a blob. " So... er, what do you think your animal will turn out to be?" she asked curiously. Ash wondered what the whole animal thing was based off of anyway.

Lauren nodded,
"Most people don't master that part of the charm until much later than their fourth year, unfortunately. I guess if you practice a lot, it would be different. Plus, it depends on how good the memory is. It's much harder than it looks," Sure, Lauren wished she could say the charm and have a bear, or a dog, or a goat, or whatever. However, this charm required thinking and power.
"I have no clue," she said quite swiftly. "It's supposed to reflect something about us, or that means something to us, I guess. All I know, I really wouldn't want something like a worm, I mean come on," she made a joke. A worm wasn't an animal, but it would be funny if that happened to someone, as long as it wasn't her.

Drew sat off to the side watching the fourth years have a full on discussion. The irritating part was they were obviously talking about him and weren't even bothering to include him. "What?" he shouted over to them, thinking that if they were just going to have a private conversation, he would get Allegra to lock the thread and they could all go somewhere else.

Jack said thanks to the Ravenclaw girl as she congratulated him on blob of silvery smoke. He then looked around at what all the other people were producing and thought that everyone at least was making something appear out of their wands. He then listened to the conversation that Pat, Lauren, and Ash were having about Drew and what kind or of shape theirs would take. He didn't want to interrupt their conversation so he just listened quietly until the comment about the worm was made and then he couldn't help but laugh. That would be as bad as if it had taken the shape of a fly or something. He would be really embarrassed it happened to him and just could prey that it didn't.
