How did she end up here? Guinevere stared back at Emeric, her mind racing with ways to respond to the question none of which were close to the truth. As she thought of her answer, the other girl had taken the silence to introduce herself. She seemed alright, Guinevere thought, but a little young. She seemed just about as out of place as Guinevere in the group and Guinevere could relate to the younger Slytherin's silence. She almost felt bad for the younger girl.
"Well, you see, my father was looking for work in Italy and when it fell through, we had to move back here," Guinevere said. For some reason she felt she owed the male Slytherin a somewhat truthful answer. "I just couldn't stand to be away from the family."
Guinevere knew the last part was a lie. She often enjoyed her time away from the family. She felt less of a pressure to act the way they expected. Guinevere began to relax. She was less rigid and far less tense. She was easing into a conversation with the boy who sat across from her.
"Define fun."
"Well, anything that isn't that," Guinevere added, motioning to the piece of parchment in front of her. "A game or something mischievous even."

Guinevere's answer about where she went before sounded like she was trying to impress them. Stifling a yawn, something she did when she wanted people to know she was bored without telling them. As she yawned she never took her eyes away from Guinevere. This girl was like a blemish that wouldn't go away. Not that Tallulah would know about blemishes. But that is what she equated Guinevere to. Rolling her eyes she let them settle on Violetta, a new girl whom Tallulah took an instant liking to.
Vi was a quiet one, she liked to watch rather then listen. Tallulah noticed that from her various encounters with the first year. Leaning back in her chair she gave the baby snake a grin. Tallulah liked her very much. She didn't seem like an idiot. She knew when to keep her mouth shut and when to speak her mind. Many people here didn't. They just blabbed about whatever seemed juicy or important at the moment. Idiots they were in her mind. Bloody idiots.
Guinevere spoke more about some sob story about how she couldn't be away from her parents. Tallulah had the sneaking suspicion she was lying about that. Smiling lightly at the girl she glanced over to Emeric, showing her pleasure about being here. If he saw the look on her face he would get what she meant about this.

Vi smiled genuinely when Tallulah rolled her eyes. That one motion summed up how almost everyone was feeling about this Guinevere. She was impressing no one, but seemed to miss that crucial detail. She was simply boring everyone to death with her tales of Italy and her dear parents and...whatever. The simple fact was that no snake at that table really cared. Vi felt herself instinctively drum her fingers on the library table, something she often did when she was waiting to go to the doctor's office, or when she was waiting. She was indeed waiting; waiting for the girl to go away.
"Well, anything that isn't that. A game or something mischievous even."
Vi suppressed a laugh. Guinevere was obviously buying into the Slytherin stereotype a little too much. Sure they were cunning and sneaky and mischievous, but the best part about those things was the fact that no one bragged about them out loud. They would more often than not prove the traits through their actions, making sure that everyone else talked about them. And a game? Really?
"And what kind of game should we play, Gwen??" She asked with biting sarcasm.

The small girl didn't shy away from Emeric's gaze, keeping eye contact with him the entire time that she introduced herself. He wasn't always used to that, especially when it came with girls, so he smiled slightly, offering his hand to the girl to shake. " Vi, pleasure to meet you. I'm Emeric Troy the Third. " He had never heard of the girl before now, but as he suspected her to be a first year, it wasn't all that surprising to him. " What year are you? " He asked, finally deciding to clear up his own confusion.
His fellow fourth year's explaination had been relatively brief, although he hadn't been anticipating an extremely long and thorough one. He nodded his head, flicking a bit of dust off of the book in front of him. " I see. " He added, mostly for the benefit of the girl so that she didn't think he ignoring her completely. His eyes casually traveled to Tal's and he gave her a small grin, thinking that he could quite possibly know what his good friend was thinking. He might not have seen her around as much lately, but they were still pretty close when it came to things like that.
He kept his smile in place as he looked around the table, noticing how his partner in crime was remaining relatively silent. He gave her a curious glance, but looked back to the little snake, giving a light chukle at her sarcastic comment. It was sort of like hazing, Vi and Tal's attitude towards Guin. He knew it would pass, or rather, he thought it might.
" Mischevious... there's always a little trouble to get into, but then again, sometimes it's a matter of creating the mischief. " He nodded his head shortly, glancing around the table.

She paused a moment before answering, letting the silence surround her. "I'm a First Year." She looked around the table to see any reactions to her statement. She didn't want to become the center of the teasing, a little Firstie like herself. It didn't seem likely. Everyone was having so much fun with Guinevere to even think of bothering little Vi. She felt like she was at ease with this table of people, and that they seemed like her kind of accomplices, albeit Guinevere. Emeric certainly had a smooth way of talking and Tallulah had a boldness and an air about her that was admirable. The two together were the kind of company Vi would be happy to keep any day.
" Mischevious... there's always a little trouble to get into, but then again, sometimes it's a matter of creating the mischief. "
Her rosy pink lips curled into a slight smirk. "What did you have in mind, Emeric?" Trouble was always something that Vi had a knack and a thirst for. There was nothing so satisfying as a troublesome deed well done.
