Arianna's nose scrunched up slightly. It wasn't that she wasn't up to the task at hand. She was Ravenclaw. The girl was never one to let her studies fall behind. That, however, did not mean she kept perfect grades. DADA, Herbology, and Charms she need not worry, but the other two....Try as she might, Arianna barely scraped by Potions with A's. She was improving, though, and hoped to earn at least the required grade this year. Transfiguration was about the same.
"Does the school offer...tutoring?" Arianna asked on a whim. She had never heard of such a thing being offered. Students did meet and help each other often, but Arianna sometimes wound up doing the work alone or being the one doing the teaching, which doesn't help when one wants to be the one being taught.

"Tutoring? That I am afraid is up to your respective professors. I do not particularly offer it, however, I would never turn away a student who asked for help," but they both knew that Arianna was doing more than perfectly well in Defense Against the Dark Arts. No, it was another class then. "My advice to you would be to seek out the Professors of problem classes and ask for individual attention."
With past experience, Tamis knew that some students felt uncomfortable with some of the professors, in some cases, one or two had even thought one incompetent. "Or, if you prefer, you could always seek the aid of another student, perhaps on in N.E.W.T.s level courses of the subject to help you."

Again Arianna frowned. She hadn't seen a problem with the Transfiguration professor so far, but she had practically been kicked out of Potions just for being allergic to an ingredient. Even if Arianna did feel both teachers competant, she felt she would be more comfortable asking someone she knew. Allegra would probably be more than willing to help her out. Arianna would have to ask her.
"I also had a..um..another question," the girl stuttered now, unsure what she really trying to say. It was something that had come to her a while back but she wasn't sure what she could do about it. IF she could do anything. "I've been keeping track of all these....'Elevens' attacks and it got me thinking....I know Muggles have military and what they call 'intelligence' to keep stuff from that happening and I was wondering if we have anything like that. Besides aurors, I mean. Or...do they do all that stuff?"
Arianna bit her lip. That wasn't exactly what she had been trying to get to, but then she didn't know what she was looking for, either. She had an idea, but even forming that into words to explain seemed to be giving her trouble today.

The Professor drew in a surprised breath before she even realized that she had done so. She forced herself to let it out and simply stared at the girl wearily for a moment, mind working. How much did Arianna know? Raynor's contacts were limited, a precaution given her position.
Finally, she scolded herself and told herself that it was most likely an innocent question. She would respond with an innocent answer.
"The Eleven attacks are just a small group of upstarts trying to revive something they are too young to grasp the full meaning of, Arianna. I would not worry to hard about them, we both know the Prophet exaggerates. We have the aurors, hitwizards, and the entire Law Enforcement Department. There is nothing to worry about."

Arianna felt a slight disappointment at Raynor's reply. Exaggerations? Nothing to worry about? Okay, maybe she, Arianna, didn't have to worry, but after reading about the murders and such....What if it did become serious? She was about to ask this question, but something else caught her interest.
"Hitwizards?" if nothing else, not even the Professor's sudden intake of breath, caught the girl's interest, that sure did. Perhaps it was because it was one of those few careers she had heard very little about. "What do they do?"

An innocent question after all it seemed. The Professor quite visibly relaxed, especially after the question was seemingly abandoned for another. A change of topic that was at the very least welcomed.
"A Hit Wizard? They're an elite Magical Law Enforcement Squad that do the work too unimportant or 'beneath' the aurors. Aurors get more credit than they deserve actually. In reality, they spend most of their time sitting at desks researching and tracking down Dark Wizards. Bored out of their skulls until a time of interest comes around. Lucky for me, I was an auror during the Second War. I did little desk-sitting."
Shaking her head as if to dismiss memories of such days of action, Raynor moved on, as if remembering what the actual question was.
"Hit Wizards are what the Ministry uses to take care of ordinary crooks or criminals. Scam artists, sellers of illegal black market items and the like. Usually they are also called in as reinforcements when the Aurors need back-up. But don't underestimate them. Their requirements are not that less stringent that for the aurors."

Well, that didn't sound too exciting. Sure, you kept bad guys off the streets and whatnot, but Arianna couldn't see herself doing what sounding much similar to police officer. She had hoped their might be more for her than a job in a hospital, but supposed wizards weren't much into wars overseas or whatnot like muggles were. Perhaps they were better at world relations.
The girl couldn't keep her disappointment from showing. It appeared there was no such thing as a 'national guard,' no posters reading 'Old Jack wants YOU!' No way to serve as anything more than healer in small, stuffed hospital wards. Ah, well, she would just have to keep searching. Arianna knew their had to be something out there.
