"Oh..." Drew answered, suddenly feeling awkward and embarassed. His family had never had to worry about money and he knew he really wouldn't ever understand having to live without it. It wasn't a really good feeling knowing he had while others didn't.
Slowly, he bounced the ball, avoiding Lucas's eye and pretending to focus on the basket.
"So, why would that keep you from staying in the Wizarding world?" he asked caarefully, not sure he should really get involved and even less sure Lucas even wanted him in his business.

"I'm going to have to get a job somewhere in the Muggle world," Lucas explained, finally looking up at the boy and resting the ball between his side and his arm. Lucas pulled his sleeve up again, getting frustrated at it for being to stretched out that it never stayed up anymore. He fidgeted with it for a moment, giving himself time before he spoke again.
"My mum put everything we have into a book store she just bought, but business is slow," continued the Ravenclaw boy, "So I need to figure out some way to help her before it goes under."

"Oh," Drew answererd, though Lucas hadn't really answered the question. As graduates of Hogwarts, they were probably better prepared for a job in the wizarding world to begin with and even if Lucas was an ass, it wasn't like he was an idiot. Heck, you had to be pretty smart to figure out how to steal another guy's girl so that she didn't even know she was being played. Lucas could probably get a number of jobs in the wizarding world and it wasn't like you couldn't switch the Galleons for pounds at Gringotts.
"Where's her store?" he asked with a small smile as he bounced the basketball by his side. "We're Ravenclaws. I'm sure we can round up some people who need books, right?"

Was...Drew offering to help? This was new to Lucas and he wasn't quite sure how he was supposed to handle it. If Drew was being genuine and was really offering help, of course Lucas would take it. But if he was screwing around and being a jerk, the Ravenclaw would be extremely pissed. Lucas really didn't think Drew was like that though, so he was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. "It's downtown Muggle London," Lucas answered, moving his ball from under his arm to his hands, "It's just a small place. I'm not sure if many Hogwarts students would be interested in it."
Lucas frowned slightly. He knew he was very interested in reading Muggle books, but didn't have the faintest idea about the rest of the student population. It wasn't as though Muggle books resided in the Hogwarts library. Would anyone really be interested?

Okay, perhaps 'helping' was pushing it, but Drew was big on finding other options when faced with a problem. If one plan wasn't working, you had to come up with an alternate if you wanted to solve the situation.
"I think you'd be surprised," Drew answered with a shrug. "We've got plenty of kids with at least one Muggle parent, and then there's that whole group of people who are just curious about it. Who knows, maybe we can get Professor VanAller to teach a unit on Muggle Literature. With your mom's connections to the Wizarding World, she'd be a perfect supplier if Flourish and Blott's wanted to place an order."

Lucas had to admit he was rather impressed. Perhaps Drew's head wasn't completely filled with sawdust. He looked at his housemate again, a light grin playing on his lips. He hadn't thought of that before and it wasn't a half-bad idea. "Yeah," Lucas answered, nodding his head in agreement, "Yeah, you're right. That might just work.I can run it past her and see what she thinks. I'm sure she wouldn't pass up a chance for business." Lucas dribbled the ball again, still distracted as he mulled the idea over in his head, but he looked at the net as he lined up another shot.
If this goes in...Drew's plan will work, Lucas thought to himself as he released the ball. It sank straight into the basket. "Thank you," the Ravenclaw said to the boy, looking him straight in the eye.

Drew was bouncing his basketball again, lazily making a path towards the basket for an easy jump shot. Lucas made a shot and Drew nodded appreciatively. As he started to set up his own shot, Lucas spoke and Drew halted his attempt and looked over at the other boy.
Lucas's thanks surprised him, not because he believed the other boy to be the ungrateful sort, but because the Head Boy didn't think he had done anything to deserve it. Lucas seemed so sincere, but Drew didn't feel right even answering with a no problem when he hadn't done anything. "For what?" he asked, obviously a little confused.

Lucas really didn't want to blush in front of Drew, but it became increasingly difficult when he asked why he was being thanked. Trying to keep it cool and casual, Lucas shrugged his shoulders. "Just for the idea," he answered, trying to stand nonchalant about it all. Drew hadn't been forced into helping Lucas, but he'd done it anyways and Lucas was grateful for it. Even if it didn't seem like a big deal to Drew, it was to the other Ravenclaw. There was a glimmer of hope for the two boys to get along. At least, Lucas hoped so.
"It means a lot that you would even help me," Lucas added somewhat quietly as he jogged to grab the ball again.

Drew turned to focus on the basket, more than a little embarassed by the other boy's gratitude. Drew wasn't even sure he even wanted to help Lucas. He had just been talking about what could be done, throwing out options to be looked into, voicing thoughts to be considered.
Dang. He had been helping. Now that probably meant they were friends and Drew really wasn't ready for that. He could handle being civil, but hadn't wanted anything beyond that with the guy who was trying to steal Felicity away.
Drew took his shot, his focus on sinking the ball through the hoop instead of on the gushing coming from the other Ravenclaw. Drew supposed that now he'd have to help Lucas get things going, or at least make the offer.
"Your shot..." he said quietly, avoiding the other boy's eye and moving to the other end of the court.
