Matty took down the notes that Alexander had written upon the board. She had to admit, the class was very casual, but she liked it. Despite the creepy light. 'The eye of Rah - Powerful pendant that was used to bring up the first curses in the ancient pyramids of Egypt by the first and most powerful Egyptian wizard, Tuhkep.' The Hufflepuff copied down the notes onto her parchment, and even managed to get a quick, rough sketch of the pendant itself. Matty also made a note never to touch odd necklaces like so. When Seth burst into the room, apparently covered in flower, the Hufflepuff couldn't help but snicker. She totally believed him about Peeves, for the girl had seen that terror at his best.
Matty then proceeded to copy the next set of notes, finding that his 'show and tell' theory was refreshing from the lectures she had expected. 'The cup of torture - Used by Tuhkep's granddaughter to trick thieves and punish those who aught to be punished.' Again, the fifth year managed to get a small sketch of the cup. The girl cringed when Alexander was harmed by the cup. She knew these things were cursed, but that still looked painful. Then there were three more. Some third year Matty knew by name only from Quidditch, Artemis. Then her best friend Tee, followed by Ryan. The girl smiled at her friends as they joined her, finally happy to have some mates in the room.
The last artifact the man brought out didn't interest the Hufflepuff as much as the previous two. Probably because understood the concept and reasons of it more, and therefore it wasn't as intriguing. 'Time Pyramid - used to make the old into the new. She scrapped the last sentence and drew a quick a sketch of the small gold pyramid once more. The girl sighed in content as she put down her quill. Only to be totally caught off guard by Alexanders next comment. 'Matty, please tell them what we did.' What the heck? He wanted her to review what they did before? Obviously, for he had just walked out of the classroom. "Uhm..." she mumbled, grabbing her notes and slowly walking to the front of the room. She cleared her throat somewhat uncertainly, before glancing at the notes in front of her. The girl leaned on the teachers desk, looking out to her classmates. This was weird.
"Profes-" she paused, remember what he had said about his name. Matty spoke clearly and loudly, hopefully for all to hear. She didn't wanna get a detention or anything for not doing as the man asked... how hard could it be? "Xander, or Alex started off by showing us this cursed pendant. He couldn't touch it, 'cause if he had it would have cursed or harmed him in some way or another. As you can see by the notes, uh, it was used to help protect the pyramids. I guess it was founded, by an Egyptian wizard called Tuhkep. This is him," she said, following what the man had done, and pushed the projection of the Hawk-like man onto the projector. "Tuhkep looked like a hawk, because he transformed into one. Almost all Egyptian Wizards looked kinda like their animagi's. However only the Pharaoh's magicians turned into an animal. Tuhkep was the Pharaoh's right hand though. That meant he was basically second to the Pharaoh." Gee, was the fifth year glad she had taken enough notes. Next Matty slid the picture of Tuhkep's granddaughter, whose name wasn't pronounceable, onto the projection. "This is Tuhkep's granddaughter. She was a squib. She made this 'cup of torture' that was used to punish some, and trick tomb thieves. When touched it makes several nasty cuts on the holder hand, as Alexander showed us." the girl said, scratching the back on her neck. "And yeah, thats about it." Matty said, shrugging with a small smile, before returning to her desk.
At least she hadn't choked.
