Drew partially shrugged back, raising one shoulder in answer to her question. "If we're all stuck here, maybe we should do something as a school, you know?" he suggested, doubting anything would come of it. It wasn't that he doubted Tapia would pass on the suggestion or try to get something going. He just didn't think it would get very far with Raynor busy with other stuff.
"My family always does their big thing on Christmas Eve," he continued. "I guess I'm lucky because I have the most family here. So I guess we'll do something then." He also figured this would be a good time to work on his tree house and practice his ice skating. "Maybe I'll get something going with my house. No school means we can goof off a little." he paused, smirked a little, and then got a deadly serious expression on his face. "I mean... we'll have more time to study... especially Potions..."

"It may be 'ard to do though," the woman answered. Everyone celebrated in their own ways, but perhaps it wouldn't be quite as hard. What if it was just a dinner with little favors and such trivial things to raise the spirits of the students stuck in the school? IT would be something the woman would have to raise issue with the Headmistress about. "'Owever, if we can find a way to include all and not offend any one person, it mightn't be too 'ard to get something to work for everyone. Just a few chipped in galleons from the staff, I'm sure we could pull something off."
Everyone could pitch in with the decorating, the House Elves were there to make dinner and desert, and with a bit of chipped in money, they could throw a nice little thing for Christmas for the students, it might help those feeling homesick.
"I never really 'ad a Christmas thing," she told Andrew. Her mother wasn't around very much for holidays and her dad left when she was young so there wasn't really much at her home during the holidays. "You're sister, and cousin, correct?" If she remember right it was the taylor boy and the administration assistant.
Grinning at his small sucking up, the woman chuckled deeply with a shake of her head. "Do you think I really expect any of your to be studying during the 'olidays?"

"It's Christmas," Drew answered with a slight smirk. "Who's offended by Christmas?" If they didn't celebrate the holiday that didn't mean they couldn't join in the party. It wasn't like they were going to set up a full on nativity scene or make everyone go to Midnight Mass. He'd be more than happy to go to a Hanukkah party or a Winter Solstice Celebration. Heck, anything to be loud and have fun, right?
Drew nodded as she asked about his family, a little surprised she said she never had much of a Christmas herself. He supposed the closer the family, the bigger the deal it was. Some people just didn't do the whole get together for holidays thing, he supposed.
He laughed as she got his tease. He and his sister often joked similarly with their mother that they spent all their free time studying and being obnoxiously good. She never fell for it... even if it was mostly the truth when it came to Allegra.
"Isn't that what Ravenclaws do though?" he asked, keeping with the joke. He actually had spent some time in the library, wanting to make sure he aced all of his NEWTs, somewhat concerned about the History final, but no, he didn't spend all day in the place.

"I suppose being offended by Christmas is the wrong thing of what I meant to say. Rather, offended by certain things as everyone 'as their own traditions," the woman corrected her statement. Though, with as young as the students were, they likely wouldn't care one way or another as to how they celebrated as long as it was celebrated. Though, a party was likely not going to bring any problems, it was something normal where students and staff alike just get together and spend time for the holidays. "Though, a party is a party. Students know 'ow to do that I've noticed."
At least her House knew how to have a party, and they were quite good at it, too.
"Eh, I wouldn't say that," she answered. "Ravenclaws may usually have their noses buried in a book or project, but t hat doesn't mean it's what they do during 'hols. In fact, if anything, they might 'ole themselves up in the library and 'ave their own party in there, but possibly play a game. The lot may decide to surprise us all."

"Maybe," Drew answered, knowing there were people like that, but still not understanding how someone celebrating a tradition could offend someone else. A couple of his buddies back home had been Bar Mitzvahed, and a girl he knew had a QuinciƱera. Drew had thought it was pretty cool to see something like that. He didn't get a huge catered party when he came of age. He got a watch.
"A party is usually good enough for anyone," Drew answered with a crooked smile. "And as a member of the Ravenclaw house, I can neither confirm or deny any partying going on in the library. You pretty much keep to the dungeons in the evening, right Professor?"

"Most of the day deary," she confirmed. There was so much to do at Hogwarts, but she was busy with her own things. It was difficult making time to get out and do something when she was trying to brew potions that weren't her usual, and was in the process of losing a potion she didn not want to lose. How much hard effort and time did she put forth into creating the brew? It was horrible and she couldn't believe that she was so far along in learning what she was doing and now it was ruined.
"I prefer keeping to the dungeons most of the time because then I can keep an eye on my store and on my potion. It's best to keep a trained eye on them so I can be sure to record everything about it. It's the best way to get a good footing in with the Minuistry to look at your potions, they require the best kept notes available. If you don't do enough for your potion, they'll kick you right out the door without another thought."

The professor didn't seem to get his small joke, but that was okay. She probably knew darn well that Ravenclaws didn't party it up between the stacks of the library.
He smiled as she spoke about her potions. He liked her class, and while it wasn't his total favorite, he really thought it was cool when his professors had such passion for what they taught. It was almost as if her potions were living entities that needed her care. Even if he wasn't exactly sure what she was talking about, it was pretty neat listening to her speak about them.
"I'm trying to get into the Ministry," he said, though it was kind of different from what she was talking about. He knew that the government was always trying to stick their two knuts into the educational system and most of the time, they had no clue what they were talking about. He had felt it most with the cancelation of Defense classes, but hadn't really thought about them sticking their noses into something as standard as Potions. "So, they like butt in and tell you what to do and stuff?" he asked, thinking they needed to stop harassing the good teachers and focus more on the sucky ones. He'd hate to see Tapia leave just because some Ministry doofus saw her slip up or something.
